Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

My friend Ernestine has had terrible pain in her back for years after surgery. She has gone down to St. Louis for those shots for a long time now.. She has scare tissue built up on both sides of her spine. The next time she goes which will be in Decatur Ill. she is to have a pain pump put in. Sure hope it does the trick. It is terrible cronic pain she goes through. Everyone have a nice night . HUGS BEV

HI JUDY AND LIZ. WHAT'S UP GIRLS?

CRISSYR, WHERE DID YOU LIVE AGAIN, HERE? IN THE SF VALLEY, IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN, SO YOU KNOW THE ANTELOPE VALLEY THEN. I THINK IT WAS YOU THAT WAS FAMILIAR WITH MY AREA.

ZHINO I AM SICK TOO, HAD A STOMACH BUG ALL DARN DAY. I FEEL SO DISGUSTING.

HI LAURA, POPPING IN TOO.

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

HI BEV

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Hi girl. What have you been doing? Haven't seen you on here in ages. BEV

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Have not been here for a while and I lose track of the thread so fast.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ah Margaritas, my favorite drink outside of plain ole regular coffee.

Hellnzn11! I lose threads all the time! I'm glad it's not just me! I lived in Modesto, CA Stanislaus County probably about 5 hours due north of you in the Central Valley. Are you familiar with that area? I'm 2 hours North of Fresno and 30 minutes South of Stockton, an hour and minutes South of Sacramento. My husband Dave is from the San Jose area.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ann-Marie I'm so glad you popped in..know you haven't been feeling the best since surgery and are frustrated at the things you cannot do, but a few more weeks of rest and you'll be tip top shape doing all the things you've been dreaming of..it soon will be garden time for you..perhaps you can do some paper planning and some indoor seed starting, something light but something to bring you joy..know you crochet, what are you working on??? and a big hug along with the welcome...

Dawn, today is your interview for the job you so badly want, prayers coming to you in hopes that you get the position ...

Carol..lol...now that's what is called multi tasking is it not? Yes did my hands last night, again this morning and hopefully I can do it one more time before I leave for work..sure helps with the ache...says you can even do your feet...hmmm..it's my knees and the pot just isn't big enough to get that far in..lol..feels sooo good, be nice to make a tub of it wouldn't it..imagine getting in and feeling such warmth..maybe there is a spa that offers such

Audrey, sure hope you can find a doctor who can provide relief...

Crissy and Dawn an others, might just have to d-mail you new threads...

Bev have a girlfriend who has the pump..barely visible..a life saver for her..if I remember correctly it's implanted in her breast...just ever so under the tissue..hers was about 1" square...

Dawn it was I who would love the church...looked at it again on my way home..it's so beautiful..I can just imagine living in it and what I could do with it...take major $$$ for construction but it would be right up my alley...have to ask the Lord to let me have it..will bring my camera with me and take a photo of it..wonder if the owner would take $100.00 down and $10.00 a week..lol

Shar/Bev and all, see everyone in such pain..doesn't it make us wonder why in our parents/grandparents age you never heard of it much or they didn't say they were in pain..must be our way of life....odd isn't it?

Paul came in yesterday and he's not quite 100%..says 80% better but lordy he was in a playful mood...today he's taking the Barrie office and Toronto office out for Christmas dinner then a staff meeting..should be fun..

Best I get upstairs and get ready...

Talk when I get to the office...

Hello Liz, glad the hush puppies were a success..always stressful to try new recipe's..at least for me...but through everyones posting of recipe's I'm actually doing a bit more cooking and being successful..just have to learn to cook for 1 instead of 10...

Now Liz I was visiting same time as you were, did Steve hide those lemmons??? how come we didn't enjoy sipping on lemonade?

You've still a long way to prepare for the craft booth Liz...you are doing it right though..not leaving it till the last week...now tell us what kind of things you'll be selling???

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Judy, have a good time in the windy city and take lots of pics from that highrise skyline. I want a shot of the river from where you'll be.

Good morning betty and all ya'll. Just popping in from Georgia.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning girls...did my nails and made myself pretty fror what...luncheon cancelled due to weather and Paul got a call from Dr.'s office saying they want to see him this morning concerning some results...that doesn't sound good...

So here I am, dressed up and nowhere to go..could paint on my project but if I got Genesis (Heat set oils) I might stain my clothing..did bring in crochet blanket though that I was doing for Suzanne's grandaughter...lol is I don't soon finish it she'll be too big..hey can always keep it for the next baby girl...

Ohhhh Judy, Hancock Building..so nice that Steve took up up on the common floor...now I can picture you and where you are at.....now you'll be with the rich and famous today...hey extra craft $$$$..doesn't it feel nice to have a spotless germ free kitchen...about once a month I take out that hand steamer and go all over just incase there are some critters/germs hanging about...really cleans the unreachable areas...

Deborah, bet there is no snow in your neck of the woods...how's the sewing going?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

All of the nail places around here do the wax for the feet and hands. It does feel good!

Liz I had not been to AR before, had been to Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, Indiana, and I'm forgetting one... I need a map LOL!

I've also been to Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado.

And Nebraska, Panhandle of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota.

I'll catch up more in a bit, work just got busy Woo Hoo!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Our world traveller Crissy...OMG I think there wouldn't be many states I haven't visited, might have to go on mapquest and check it out, that could be my 'todo' today to keep me occupied..lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Meant to tell you earlier..on the news this morning yet another dog was electricuted..imagine, in Toronto there is a hydro pole that has zapped 1 dog (who survived) and now taken the life of 2 more..hydro says its been checked, all ok but this poor pooch has lost his life...now what if a child were walking in that area? hmmmm

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That's very dangerous, I guess they don't think about how dangerous it is until a human gets electricuted and they get sued.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Would imagine they'll get a lot of flack from owners and rightly so..

Sister Sharon just msn'd me, Rhonda her 16 year old is back home, going for the proceedure tomorrow then they will give her a birthcontrol needle versus pill which last for 3 months..she is quite unstable mentally as is the young man...sad state of affairs..

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Sorry about your sister's young Rhonda, and it is an unfortunate way to learn a lesson.

Lots of people have back problems, I know....mine is the result of childhood polio, so the doctors are treating it in that way. Most of my older family members were healthy, yes, and so am I except for this. But there was no cure for polio in '46 or '47, so I am fortunate to still be here and able to walk. And to walk without braces, because I do remember those danged braces. They were so heavy I could hardly manage to move.

Lemons, Liz...oh my! Wouldn't that be nice to have them growing in my back yard.

Morning all....
Very cold here, but no snow or rain, so guess we are fortunate in that regard. Hope you all have a good day.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Shar does polio still exist or is it under control now via vaccines...I remember my school friend Pauline had it, she passed away I think it was in grade 8..she wore the braces for a time then in a wheelchair until her death..almost every generation seems to have an epidemic of sorts..i.e. aids in ours...

Thanks for your kindness Shar..Rhonda wants to come back and live with Sharon and not her adoptive dad Terry..Sharon with her nerves and back injury I doubt could cope so would imagine Terry will be picking her up tomorrow..Sharon said her childlike brain (Rhonda that is) doesn't realize the magnitude of what is happening..Both Sharon and Terry would never have considered this had Rhonda's Dr. and phychologist not recommended it...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ahhhh was worried about tomorrow and next few days being in deep freeze..was telling the gals on Canadian Thread that I must get in for a 'block heater' fancy told me that every car sold in Canada had to have them as a standard inclusion..know last year I called my dealership and a gentleman said nope, had to have it installed, now today talked to the manager Larry, my son Greg's friend, he checked computer and said yes, it should be already on my car...so Greg will drop in tonight to check it out..Larry said they tie the cord and stuff it in a corner...ok...if Greg can't find it he'll drive it over to Larry's who surely will know where...won't be worried then, can just plug it in...

Paul did come in today but because weather was so bad for the Toronto guys travelling and taking more time than scheduled he's sent the girls to pick up chicken/pizza/subs/salads etc so we don't have to go out..can have our staff meeting while eating...so no restuarant for us...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Betty, polio is very nearly cured in this country, but not in some other countries where the vaccine is not allowed, for whatever reason. So yes, it still exists. I think the Rotary clubs have a cure for all polio as their goal. The first vaccine came out in '52 or '53, I think. Too late for some of us.

Hope you get the thing for your car. It is very cold here, but sunny now.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Sharran, my back problems stem from 2 ruptured discs and degenerative arthritis. Thing a pain pump thingee would help me? I can sit all day, just can't stand or walk for longer than a few minutes.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Maybe so, Audrey, I do know the pain pump is the next step for me, if the injections ever fail to help. I will go any route before I give in to surgery.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Audrey my sister has the ruptured discs...she was in the hospital just a few hours away from surgery and they told her because of what was involved she had better try to deal with the pain for as long as she can..some weeks she's in bed 24/7...I personally would have tried the operation...

Shar, doesn't the injection cause a person to be sterile???

Victoria Harbour, ON

Wow, just looked outside, blizzard going on...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Sorry Betty-I have had the last 2 days out of the office, in the freezing cold-4 hrs out in -7 wind chill today and I am STILL frozen!! You know when I come to see you I hope there is a kinkos so I can make copies of some patterns-I know I may have to sneak them out in the middle of the night and have them back B4 you get up, but I am sure if you have that many that there will be some I will HAVE to have!!LOL I am trying different variations of my 7 item swap and will hopefully find one I am happy with soon....BETTY-pics coming your way...

ANJL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELLOOOO HONEY!!!!!!!!!!! How U Doin??

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Betty...never heard of that. I guess in as much as steroids could cause sterility, and I don't know if they do, but that is what the injection is basically. Also some anti-inflammatory stuff.

I have the ruptured discs, too. So ...whatever helps.....
My pain management doctor as well as neurosurgeon and ortheosurgeon tell me that movement is the best thing, not major movement, but walking, etc. There are times when I can't walk, but all it takes is more injections. The last time that happened was 3 years ago, so having them on a regularly scheduled basis has kept me fairly mobile.

Surgery scares me, because the percentages of success are not the best, and could be the worst. So I will go along like this as long as I can.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

They told me surgery would not help me.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Just arrived home, Paul did call and tell us to leave early....hello 5 minutes earlier isn't early...lol..got to Home Depot and picked out materials for my mystery 7 swap..shucks after I got the poor lad to cut some things for me it hit me as I lifted it..going to cost a fortune to mail so back for more, downsize my project so it's mailable..is that a word??? wow is it storming..

Greg called and left a message asking me to drive to his house so he could look for the heater plug in on my car but it's just too stormy..temps are dropping quickly so I'll set the alarm and go start it at some point during the night just to make sure she starts...

Carol how's the weather in your area...

Shar, know that from time to time you say it's bothering you a lot..that's one good thing isn't it? the ability to know when you are in trouble and then you can get the injections and/or get something to ease the pain...

Audrey, know that Sharon wanted the operation but think the prognosis frightened her so she decided to put it off...

My hands are paining so much..always said I could do without walking but not being able to use my hands would be the worse...so off I go, wax is ready, try to ease the pain...I just know if I stopped doing things it would be worse..better that I keep them going right?

Anybody hear from Jesse?

If you are lurking Jesse please know we care and need to know you are ok..a simple 'hi' will suffice....

Victoria Harbour, ON

Stacey you can have any patterns I have to photo copy and bring home..got to tell you though..you just might be overwhelmed...half the time I'm overwhelmed...so much to do and so little time...

Must ask you southerners when you can start gardening so we can enjoy...up here we're only 1/2 done our winter still months ahead of us...

Remember once when we lived in an apartment, must have been the first few years we were married, one of the apartments had a leak in the ceiling only to discover that someone had rented the apartment above, brought in bag by bag of soil, seeded it and had a garden above..only way it was found out was they watered it too much and it leaked...now that's a love for gardening wouldn't you think?

Jeannine, Kathy,Vicki, Gita what are you all up to that's keeping you all so busy....need to know you are all ok...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-I am sure I will be like a kid in a candy store!!LOL

Glenview, IL

Hi..I am back.
LOL, there are some real nice advantages working with the Boss!! ROFLOL, like lunch on the 95th floor! Oh wow, what and incredible view...And the brat in me ordered a 8.00 beer, Highlife Light, thank you very much...Steve said, now why can't you just have an ice tea? LOL, I said how often will I ever get to eat up here and have a drink? Besides I earned it for sure.

So The place had stuff all over, in piles just dusty. So not knowing where to begin I decided at the windows and work my way out.
This system proved to be a good way to go...My job was to clean and arrange the furniture.

So in order to be fair...I must show what Steve did as well.
So here is the space before enhancements.

behind that wall is a kitchen.
Steve ripped down the wall, gutted and rebuilt an open kitchen.
(edited to crrect spelling.)

The bath was also gutted.
