Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #78

Victoria Harbour, ON

Moved us over from here....

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/939045/

Talk about a bitter cold day, brrrr, up with the furnace and on with the fireplaces...would have been a great day to just stay inside but I will be meeting Diane around 9:30 this morning, going to Barrie to the painting studio, unless there is something totally a new technique, probably won't be registering for many classes...

She has a few altered art pieces, that in itself would be ok as I've 2 already and if we could purchase our own frames or alternate the altered art within I'd register ... class and materials usually cost about $150. but when she adds another $200 for the frame and matting well it's just not worth it because there is nowhere here I could put it so would have to be a gift and that's just too much money to give away..
So the best will be the time spent with Diane and maybe breakfast out..lol

Snow possibly later today and tomorrow but right now it's nice just looking out..I went next door to the variety store last night and like the sound of the crispness as you walk, crackle, crackle!

After snowblowing I remembered I had some old canvas from a gazebo top I repaired a few years ago so decided to make a cover for it..best look after our equipment right? Sure did enjoy that soul warming meal..nothing like homemade stew..but as always I've enough for 10 more to join me all weekend...maybe a snowmobiler will drop in..

After sewing I decided just to sit, but just sitting (you know me) I don't do sitting with nothing to do very well so brought the rag quilt I'm done with except for cutting all the seams into mini sections so sat and did that for a few hours...probably little less than 1/2 done..good project for tonight..

Get carried away with things, my quilt which is a couch cover has 80 squares, a single usually has about 99 in this particular style..well counted the blocks I have left and I've about 45 so thinking if on my way home I was to go back and see if same material is on sale, just think could do another over the next few winter weeks and have a Christmas gift ready for next year...ok/ok don't smack me, was just an idea, thought a good one though?

Sorry about the weather you are all having, other than being dangerous when driving not a lot of damage is done, nothing like the storms you are all experiencing...my heart goes out to all of you...

1 1/2 loafs of the applesauce cake is being put in the freezer..aren't I being good...

Best get a move on...need to use the vac, dust, steam mop the upper floor then my chores are done for the day..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Well, we have about 6" right now-expecting another 4-8":(((((( So I got up for work, looked outside, and went back to bed for a couple hrs. Apparently up by my work they have about 3" so far, so my boss may not get why I didn't come in-maybe I have to take pics for proof-I will be working a bit from home this weekend, so I will still get hrs.. We are at a level 2 snow emergency, not sure if we will make a level 3-probably not unless we get ice too..

Betty-I would LOVE to take a 4 day weekend and come see you to learn some of your painting techniques!! I will have to plan one after winter maybe if you wouldn't mind a house guest for a few days;)

Good morning!

Gilli, such a nice story of Sonora allowence! Just makes me smile to hear she is learning the way of earning and managing her "income"
Never too young to start. It's going to melt your heart when she presents you a gift with her earned money.

A friendly Reminder tomorrow is Dawns Birthday!!

Ok Waving to all this very early morning...
LOL, I awoke at 555 geesh thought that was a bit odd, but ok, made myself laze until 6:15.

While going back to sleep was impossible for all the noise Steve was making.
I decided to get up and make coffee.
...Oh my gosh! Poured the first cup
A very good thing I didn't walk away, as the push button got stuck...
and well I've enough coffee for all...LOL
Betty, how about a piece of Ruby's Applesauce cake.

Judy quitting smoking has done wonders for your energy lever or is it nervous/stress keeping you going..doesn't matter, you'll get there just the same..

Liz, if you need more sleigh santa's know Darlene has about 40 of them and can part with some...I'm so hoping this crafting booth sale is a success after all the work you are putting into it..

Judy just had my 1st cup of coffee thinking of another..Diane will probably be phoning in a half hour or so, should start my car and let it run for awhile although it's against the LAW...hmmm what is one to do, freeze to death?

Bringing my trusted measurement book and want list items within with me, might take a trip to the re-use it for Humanity centre to see if they've anything that matches measurement on my list...after that well I hope to be home not much later than 1:00...still contemplating a trip to Fabricland for the flannel..what's your thoughts on that...lol

Nope, not me Betty...I have always been on the go! What gave me stress was working with no work.
I can't stand to not be doing something or actually I usually always work on at least 5 or 6 things at anyone time.

Today, will take all i can to not work and just Supervise, lol...Breenie caught on to my chore doing and yikes wanted a list so, had to agree.

OH my gosh, Jance has Cedrick arrived yet? My goodness, I am getting excited because at this rate I just may have him for my birthday!!

Betty, i am missing something, Flannel?? for what? Oh heck go ahead and get it!!

It's against the law to warm your car? Well, I break that law everyday in the winter months...lol, shame, shame...NOT.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

We have 7" right now-expecting another 4-8":(

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

The snow is sure beautiful, but I really don't need any right now! 42* here this morning, I thought it was supposed to get in the mid 20's, maybe later today. BRRRR!!!!
Wish I could get in the mood to craft anything!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Remember ya'll, Betty said she was going to Barrie today. Hope she is careful even though I think all of the snow is south of her. It's waaaayyyyyyyy cold though. I watch the weather like a fiend.

I started to embroider pillow cases last week and for some reason all I want to do is chat with ya'll and play computer games. That reminds me, I need to check on Gamehouse to see what today's free game is.

Glenview, IL

LOL, Crissy...
(I have gone through peiods of chatting and everything but what I was suppose to be doing.

So how is your weather? You getting hit with Rain still?

I'm not quite sure how much snow we have gotten yet...still snowing, very lightly now.
Here is a picture, notice the fire pit and little table top, thats how much snow since Friday.
Will continue thru tomorrow, I believe.

Posted my purple Santa today!!

Hello everyone..

OMG Stacey, pack your bags any day, room's made for you, I'll even cook you a meal..now that will be a treat..how much fun would that be for you and Janice to come..I'm so looking forward to Judy's visit this summer....

Now for my day before I gab on yours...

Went to the post office for 9a.m. to send of Bullwinkle and the lads, the canadian contingency of Bailey and Cedric..same girl was working part time as the day after Boxing Day..geeze, she got frustrated before I even handed her the package and couldn't figure out how to send it..lol..so 45 minutes later I was enroute to meet Diane who was worried because I was 15 minutes late and am always on time..

We made a pack, no more than one or 2 sessions we'd register for...

The first I'll be doing is a graphite portrait, now this one is of Carol (instructor) daughter..I'm not sure who I'll do...still have a couple of weeks to decide

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

She also had a genesis piece (heat set - oil type medium) the panel insert is in a table..thought the table would look adorable next to the chair so registered for it...slap my hand..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Of course with Valentines coming and Diane wanting to play 'cards' on a Sat. afternoon for 3 hrs. we both registered for these cards...

Oh forgot to mention, Diane who does portraits also registered for the portrait..she's a bad influence on me isn't she...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now my basement is painted a salmon (not really orange)
and of course I took a liking to this particular piece..it's done with texture medium...said earlier I wasn't going to do another piece that needed a frame right? wasn't that earlier this morning, only hours before I registered for this project...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Fell in love with this tray..it is made so that the bottom insert can be removed, we can paint another, glass will be cut to go over the acrylic painted piece...what I'll do with a tray, who knows...

Victoria Harbour, ON

ooops forgot the tray

Then in April the same lady that taught the course in iris folding cards is coming back with dimentional cards..registered for it as well...

All these cards I'm making and I don't even send cards..lol better start

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Hate to tell you all what these courses will cost but hey, don't smoke, don't drink, don't run after men...lol...so why not do something I enjoy...

We left Carol's and off the south of Barrie to the Marketplace Buffet, enjoyed the company and meal..while gabbing I was telling Diane about doing the rag quilt throw so when I'm on the chesterfield watching t.v. (when is that?) I can cuddle up in it..

She thought it would be a good idea to start now although she's working on a very indebth quilt for her bedroom but thought this would be an easy project so before you knew it we were headed to Midland, 45 minute drive..

She ended up purchasing materials to make her grandaughter one for Christmas...on the way we were gabbing about how kind Suzanne is to me, watches over me like a mother hen .. all of a sudden a brain storm, her couch is blue, why not purchase a little more of the material I have, a few yards of blue/green tones and make her one for her birthday which is at the end of the month...hurrah, knew I'd find an excuse to buy more material and do another...how did I know Judy you would edge me on and tell me to go for it, buy more/more and more....

Diane wanted a winter coat so off shopping for that, she found a lovely carcoat, with liner used in winter and without can be used in spring...half price but still $149.99....she's not a shopper, has to be in the mood, guess today was her day as well...

Then dropped in here on the way to drive her home, she wanted a few instructions for the quilt..once I drove her home I remembered that I had Aunt Muriels Christmas gift in the car, I always get a little something for her, she does love her birds so it's usually bird related...as I was passing the next street over why not visit with her...

Got there and waited for her to answer the door..she's looking frail, could hardly move for an aching back..had taken a fall she said a few days ago outside because of ice but she didn't think this had anything to do with it...shaking my head...she lives on a river and it's just so pretty..had to take a few photo's for you..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Her yard is so pretty, in the house you can hear the river run...there is always a yard full of birds...because her back was hurting she asked if I could fill all the feeders, yep, gave me the opportunity to take another photo..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

She enjoyed her gift...know she likes cardinals...so a stained glass cardinal was hung in her window...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Now here she is with her pooch, the one that just had a $4,000 eye operation...he is spry and plays a lot more than I can remember...he has to go back to the specialist next week, she's hopping that the operation is a success...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Arrived home at 4:15 and noticed a message waiting on the telephone..Greg, asking me to call him asap...he and Melanie wanted to snowmobile up the lakes and asked if the boys could spend the night..Kyle went snow tubbing and Noah kept grandma company...

Of course that material just sitting there was bugging me, as I finished the other and it's in the dryer why not start to cut...so the blue material is cut, now for the green..who knows, if I keep this up it just might get done by tomorrow night....

Just have to go upstairs with Noah so had better hurray up before there is mischief.....

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning, another bitter cold day...could have slept in this morning but Sailor wanted out or so I thought, tried to get her to go out but she wouldn't...she not only woke me but Noah as well!

Noah now settled back into bed with cartoons on, my sewing machine is already on so off for a productive day...
Who knows how much I'll accomplish..

Stacey couldn't figure out where your post was that I was missing about you coming for a visit..was only going as far as my last post before I left for Barrie, I just scrolled up and we must have cross posted...sorry sweetie...
You are more than welcome to come for a 4 day weekend (or longer) .. you name the date and crafting it will be...

What do you all have planned today?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Morning everyone..
Betty..I am chuckling here..you just can't stop yourself!
But if it makes you happy doing all these projects then "it is a good thing"
It is also a social thig isn't it..getting together with like minded artists.

I enjoyed reading about your day..
Yesterday, my friend Sheila and I went out for a bit of shopping..and then we had a late lunch at her home.
We got a few goodies at Supercentre..that store is huge..has everything under the sun there..I have only been there once before because it is in Oshawa..but it was worth the drive.

Last night I watched one of the DVD movies I got for Christmas..Mad Money..Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah, and Katie Holmes.
It is in a set of eight oldies with the theme of Love and Humour.
We got a bit more snow overnight..-12c out there now..but says it will be manily sunny today.

Have a good one.....
P. S...a little bloom to dream on.........aster and bee from Sept. 08

I'm here Judy, lol, just going to start thinking of what to make for lunch..of all the days I'm playing in my jammies, jelling out, Noah keeps asking if there is anything he can help me with, probably a dozen times so just sent him to the store for bread and asked in to take in Christmas tree boxes from back shed so I can try and fit the trees back inside..always a challenge...

Now when I say I'm in my jammies you must know I'm doing something..yep, have half that rag quilt sewn together...I timed myself and if I keep up this pace, about 3:30 or so I'll be cutting the edges..who knows might give it to Suzanne early because she says she's chilled sitting in her living room...that's if plans don't change..

We also Carol have a Superstore in Midland, infact my nieces husband is a manager there..I do drop in from time to time but didn't you find them expensive???

Sounds as though we all had an enjoyable day yesterday..and yes, my favorite is the table..Carol's hubby says the table is 26 1/2 inches high, not so sure I want mine that high so have to do some measurements..am looking forward to getting back with the girls..it means painting on Monday night, Wednesday night my teaching here and then painting Thursday night so there won't be a 7:30 bed time roll..most likely I wouldn't get home till 10pm or so...know I'll be kicking myself when the courses actually start...oh well, will do me good to get out..

Stacey, doesn't take long sometimes does it when you are doing crafts to only focus on crafts...I make myself stop on t.v. commercials and do something..it truly is amazing just how much you can accomplish by doing that...

I must have swept my floors at least 8 times this morning, all that thread from the cutting and sewing..drives me crazy...am enjoying it though..

Must bring my camera upstairs, have seen some pretty birds at the feeders...

Carol it's still a long wait for us gardeners isn't it..sure did love your photo..
must go rent that movie..some of the time there isn't much on Rogers Cable even though I have all the movie channels..need a good laugh...

Well best get upstairs as I've schedule myself for the afternoon..nothing like a challenge..

Morning everyone. Betty, I wish I had half of your energy, and talent. Love the new classes your signing up for. It will be very nice. But all you have to so, is d mail Trisha, or Laura, and they can give you instructions for the cards. They make some beautiful cards for sure. Can't wait to see your finished rag quilt. I like the colors you have picked out.
Stay warm, and enjoy your visit with your Grandson.

Hi Betty!!

Wow, you've been busy in your jammies. LOL I enjoy lounging in Jammies, so comfy to work in.

Well, I have attempted to make a list of needs for a couple of little quilting items. My this hobby is one expensive one!
But i have alway wanted to try. So, now is good, since I've lots of time.

Good Grief, Jacob is finally cleaning his room...good heavens i am back to square one on the cleaning! laundry sky high again.
LOL...Sock brigade took place last week and i'll bet he has all the rest!!
Oh my gosh, you all forgot to tell you my lil man has a girl friend! She is just a real sweet cutie. Her parents are real nice too.

So cute Noah wants to help with everythinng. So I hope you will have fun making lunch...
Steve, is working on annual Bahamama invitations. LOL, he want3ed me to do it and then went on to do it himself...ok then.

Not much else going on here...no mischif for me, lol makes for a boring day! guess I can always read.

Thanks for Blabbing with me!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Betty, the first pic youtook by the river, no color except a small, maybe 2 ft. high, twig, rust colored. Beautiful! I BET YOU DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE! Sorry about caps!
I bought some long legged underwear to wear under my pants, because I get so icy cold from my waist down. Have a pair on this morning, we'll see how they work! These are pink, and a very soft fabric. Shouldn't be hot, just comfy warm! But even with socks, my feet are cold! They used to stay hot! It's .... gettin' old! but it beats the alternative!
Wish I could take some classes with you! I loved the oil pic.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Audrey, hope you warm up, long johns sound 'pretty'...guess we are so use to dressing for extreme colds that it doesn't seem half bad..it's the norm for us...

Greg just dropped in to pick up Noah, all are going on a snowmobile cookout, asked if I'd like to go, have an extra machine but NO, I'm quite comfy in the house doing my own thing..

Said then when March starts to warm up there will be no excuse, up to the islands with them to see the snowcastles...

You know Bev when I took the photo's I didn't play with the color and was surprised at just how black and white the photo of the river was....must go back and look for the green...lol...
