Good morning sweet sistahs and awesome nieces!

TGIF for some of you, and I'll chant No Snow.. No Snow.. so you'll get home safe, Stacey and Kim can leave for Cozumel without any hitch.

It was a very good game Donna. Well, an SEC team won the BCS 3 years in a row. :D I'm sure next year, we'll see a playoff system, to be fair to more deserving teams. I think Utah should have been playing in the finals. Says a lot about a team that's 13-0 and beat _ _ _ _ _ _ _ to a pulp!

Hi Cookie!! Isn't it today that Sis Kathy makes that trip to pick up Pamela? What a way to start the new year. Unplanned road trips.. let's add to our prayers that they be safe on the road.

Mais oui Heather!! Look at the Sistahs I hang around with. They have exquisite tastes, beyond million bucks! You must know that I shop at Maison de Walmart, and I prefer plaques à papier and tasses en plastique. Square foot gardening? What's that? You ain't see class till you do strawbale gardening! Hmmrummph.

BJ, that is really sad. But there's always May and it soon will be there. Gosh, think of this sistahs, just one round trip ticket to purchase to see so many of you at one time!

Cindy must be busy finishing off her swap or with her crafts.

Haven't seen Susan too... come out of your shell, Susan!!

Debra, you'll be a new Debra after that spa treatment... I think we all should give ourselves a treat like that.... AFTER finishing a difficult swap :D (like BJ's). You're one of those classic beauties that even when wearing a cloth sack, you'll still be a 'knock-out'!!
So, this will be your second hosting to the RU right? Knowing you, it will be another successful one.

Judy, you need a wide quilting acrylic ruler to facilitate your cutting, place on top of the fabric, which is lined on the cutting mat. I use a June Taylor Shape Cut with slots to help with e-z strip cuttings. Woooowieee... you read this Maid M.. she's on her way to quilting!!!!

Hi Janice! Have you started cutting yet?

Audrey, Lisa need to stop taking the abuse. Let them pull their own weight, and see what they're missing, once she's gone.

Tina, Cathy and Trisha.. hope you all are feeling better. This unpredictable weather just make more people sick.. No heavy lifting for you Trisha.. watch those shoulders!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi Jaye, my sistah! Yes today is the road trip for Pamela. She is so excited. I hope this all goes smoothly. Praying here for sure!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I keep meaning to ask...does anyone have Chinese Mayapple? I saw it on "A Gardeners Diary" last night and it was awesome. Plantfiles says it will grow in 6b so I'd be willing to give it a try, but it doesn't show anyplace that has it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Now you got me curious. Gonna google it. If I had, you know you'll get it.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a beauty.
Joyce I see two kinds of Chinese Mayapples here

http://www.hgtv.com/landscaping/a-foliage-garden/index.html

Here is the info on the show Jaye...the picture of the Mayapple doesn't look near as beautiful as when they showed in on the program...I can't get the resources to open...:o(

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I had already looked at that site, way expensive for one thing, and I didn't see anything that looked like what had been on the show.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well Cookie, another must have plant that can break the bank, unless someone on DG can offer you a division. But it is beautiful.. hardy to zone 7 and loves shade. Perfect for a woodlands setting.

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

Store de la thriftay! that is were the 'goods' are!! :)

Now I have to google strawbale gardening.........yall are definitely enablers of all things!

I am trying to get laundry folded but keep coming back here to see what you chickies are up too.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Kent got a quiet revolution going on with Strawbales.. especially for us that have poor soil and want some fresh veges. Check out the strawbale gardening forum Heather.
Last year, we had fresh aubergines, tomatos, peppers.. ooh la la.. c'est bon!! I also planted some annuals as companion plants. The bales have broken down, and we're doing that again this year.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good Day everyone! A bit cloudy but no rain.....they say the Freeway should re-open this afternoon!! Soooo much cleanup for people around the state.....our Church will probably send out work parties again this year......don't think I will be our shoveling mud......will have to see what other projects are available........

Squarefoot gardening is very interesting.....Laura and I have talked about trying that.......one thing she is looking at with this move is having a good area for flowers and garden.....and Trees! Will be glad when this move is over and they can settle down and get back to normal.

We will be thinking of all of you come May......you better post lots and lots of pictures....I know you will have a great time! Hard to imagine a trip for fun, my last three trips down there have been for funerals....we won't go there..........

Well, have some things I need to get finished up around here...house cleaning, swaps...oh my...,. Talk to you later.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Debra... wouldn't it be wonderful if I could make that trip with Michael to your RU... I'll have to look into that and see if it's doable.

I'm cleaning out the spare room closet today making room for our "son" to arrive next week. I wonder where all that stuff come from !!! Don accused me of collecting it all in there, and I accused him. Sheesh... when did I become my mother (the pack rat)???

Michael's mother is sending me a box of chocolates from Vienna... now, is that sweet of her or not? He has such a wonderful family... he's going to be sooo homesick... Don and I can be pretty boring.

Well, break time is over... back to work... lots to do in the next week.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I am just so crushed!!!! Don is going to be in Tallahassee Saturday and Sunday and NO BJ with him. That just ain't fair!!! BTW, what is going on here for Don to be in town? Basketball game, maybe sure isn't the college bowl championship celebration!! That's about 150 miles southeast of me.

Well thank goodness for laptops and daughter's computer as mine hasn't been hooked back up--later today maybe.

Tink, love both the sink and the mirror!! Careful if I ever get to your house I don't disappear with the mirror--really like that!! Donna from Jax, I too, like round mirrors but my daughter picked out 2 for 2 of our bathrooms. One is oval and it has a distorted vision to me. Drives me insane with my tri focal glasses. The other mirror is really beautiful with a mosaic tile edging around it but fancier than I usually chose. Oh well, we both live here and we do try to share the selecting of items for the house.

Heather, I am with you sistah!! I used to shope that famous French store JC Pena but ours isn't a very good one so went back to the best shopping of all-Wally World. Well besides my fabric and quilting shops. I have heard of the square foot gardening before but unfortunately I can't remember much about what was said. It was a program presentation while I was still active in gardening club. I love Debra's way of doing the plants. Actually, I guess i do that also, have parsley and herbs mixed in the most unusual places and it appears to be working.

O Donna, holding a real Piccaso--my what a thrill. I have held an original jpainting by Abbigail--does that count? LOL
It is called "The Lemon Stage" and she painted it for my birthday. Just as valuable as the one Jaye showed us on ebay in my eyesight. Just call me Grandma!!

Day at the spa!!!! What more can I say? Color me GREEN.

Trisha, no more pushing, pulling, toughing or straining for you please. Take care of yourself we need you with out the sniffles, sore areas or pain. How are thing going with Laura househunting? Some really nice places near me-then I would have a niece close by.

Phyllis, great job on the package for Robyn. Beautiful things--hard candy? Humm do you share the recipes? Hint. hint!!

Judy, welcome to the addictive world of quilting. You will love it I am sure. Keep up the good work with the not smoking. You too Deborah!!!

Yikes not good news in paper today. Saw about the earthquake in Costa Rica--bummer, that is where Kim and I were a year ago December. Beautiful area I just hate to think what it must be like now. So sad to hear about the hotel!!!!

Well waving to all I missed but I need to go hook up my CPU unit and start the download process so I can have it reloaded back to factory condition. Something to do with the card for the wireless router that was installed when I moved here from Gainesville. At last the problem has finally been found and know what to do to correct it--just going take some time now.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Marion... I don't know what he's doing... Basketball, probably... but hey... as far as I know he may be out there looking for a better deal... (JK) we tease each other about finding "better deals" when he travels. Heck, he could already have a girlfriend in every port, for all I know... but I doubt it... it's hard to have a social life when you work 12-16 hour days, and try to get any sleep in the process...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

ROFLOL as Ross and I used to have the same thing. He would work very long days when in the field so I wasn't to worried about it but was fun to joke.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I always say it would take too long to train another one, Bill's comment is usually that I didn't do a very good job of training this one..!!! In his case, he is a workaholic, and if it doesn't have two wheels and pedals he doesn't pay much attention.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

well, I think the mirror is out-the mirror itself is only 12" tall X 9" wide-that isn't a lot of mirror for someone to use:( I did pick up the sink on my DREADFUL drive home as we are getting what Kim got last night:(((( It took me about 2X the time-about an hour and a half:(

I haven't heard form Cindy either-I hope she is OK.....

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Stacey, are they treating you better at work, now? I do so hope you can find a place with a better work atmoshpere somewhere! You deserve it!
I didn't realise you were so short. I love it! I've always been the runt, smallest one in all my classes when I was in school. Didn't bother me, though! I'v never regretted being short, just makes my extra weight show up to good!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

yup-I am a short thing....and no Audrey-they aren't-but I did tell her that I am NOT coming in tomorrow if we get the snow we are supposed to-I set everything up today so that I can do it all from home....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Stacey, good for you....wish you would have done this sooner.........You should not be expected to drive in those conditions.......

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Move down to the South.. Stacey.. Janice too!! You will never have to drive in the snow no more.. but just tolerate the hurricanes and occasional tornadoes.
My ex was assigned different areas overseas. When I couldn't go with him, he always tried to make me feel insecure. But I always tell him that if he were to find another 'deal', I'll throw in the 'bonus'... and thank that person.. The bonus being his faults!!!
Trisha, I have to reinforce Kel's training often!!!!
Maid M..., it's carnitas tonight. My hands smell of garlic.... yummy. Serving that with steamed cabbage.
Lisa, how you're doing lately?
Noise maker is home.. cya in a while.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

We are having steaks, corn and fried taters-YUMMMMMMM!!!

Trisha-it appears I have "grown a pair" ever since DH said that if I am really this miserable and sick over my job it isn't worth it-I always cared so much B4 because I didn't want him to think I was a failure....I don't seem to care about getting fired or in trouble over something...

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

Stacey, sorry to hear you had a hard time going home but am not surprised. We were told that it was worse in the lower counties. I was out in it this morning and it was wet and constant. I got all the fabric I needed for my swaps, did grocery shopping and am ready to stay in for the weekend and sew, sew, sew. I am going to try out my new cutting board and June Tayler ruler. Should make cutting lots easier and quicker. Got all the material in the washing machine and then into dryer and ready to use!

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

You go girl Stacey Whats going to happen they take away your Birthday They can't you had it already .
Well I am going to miss you guys and lose so much talk I will never be able to catch up,

Hi All,
Just been a bit down in the dumps these past few days. Cabin Fever for one. It's been so cold and foggie here that you freeze the second you stick your head out the door. Monday I spent most of the day in bed. I was in a lot of pain from my hips down. Sat in the hot tub for about 1/2 an hour, then took a Vicodin crawled back in bed turned on electric matttress warmer (on Ricks' side of the bed I don't even have mine plugged in) fell asleep and slept for 4 hours. Tuesday cleaned sitting room up and set up my tread mill, bow flex and gazelle Have been working out a little each morning. Need to lose quite a few pounds, lol. Wednesday cleaned storage room out took Christmas stuff back to my mom's. Thursday didn't do much of anything but later in the afternoon went to my mom's then she came back home with me. Today she had 2 doctors appt 1 for her knee and the other of her lungs they found a white mass and wanted a cat scan.

Have been trying to finish 2009 swap pressies except one thing that I'm making is giving me a headache uuuggghhhhh!!!

Did talk to Deborah yesterday, that makes twice she has called me, isn't that sweet. I just love listening to her accent or should I say drawl? Is that right Debroah?

Well Rick and Mom want to play dominos so I guess I'll

TTYL ^_^

Coushatta, LA

Jaye,THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!I got them today.Check your d-mail.

Good evening everyone.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I get so cold from my butt down that I have to turn on my matress pad and go to bed to warm up! I got out of bed this afternoon, went to W*M and got two pairs of thermal undies to wear under my chothes! If I get it warm enough to keep my body warm, I can't breathe! I bet I stay warm tomorrow!
While I was checking out, my sugar plummeted! I was shaking like a leaf, couldn't even open a pack of candy. The CSM opened it while I checked out and got me a coke. I don't know how I ever got out of there! I had to sit a while before I could drive. It always makes me sick when it drops.
Kim, I hope you have a wonderful time! Be careful, and don't get into trouble!! Send me a sand flea!!
Audrey

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Stacey it took me a lot of years and finally getting diagnosed and on the correct medication before I realized that I did not have to put up with that kind of treatment from the people I worked with......my life has been so much better since then.

Kim have a great trip....we'll be thinkin' of you and waiting for pictures!

Cindy glad you are back, we were worried about you !

Jaye, dinner sounds good!

Sage is here, I need to get her movie started, may make Ruby's applesauce cake and decide what we are doing for dinner, talk to you later...........

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Evening everyone..

Sorry I have been busy as a bee lately and have had no time to get online today.. Max ended up staying up until 230 then I finally talked him into going to bed for a few hours before he had to go back in at 7..

Was working on a new schedule starting in a few weeks (once I get it all sorted out).. With alittle insparation from you ladies I think I am gpoing to attempt to stop smoking once and for all and get back into the gym. I figure I can work in the nursery/gardens in the mornings after taking the kids to school and then at lunch when the heat is picking up I can go to the gym.. This will keep me busy enoough that I wont want one.. At least I dont think so... Then after gym come home shower, get the kids from school, homeowrk dinner and relax..

I called oour insurance company today and they have a stop smoking program so most if any help I need will be covered other than co-pays for appointments.. Although the last time I quit cold turkey I just dont know if I can go through that again and survive without pulling my hair out.. You ladies are amazing with your sucess so far --- yuo give me strength to want to try to quit..

As for the gym.. Ladies -- Curves? If I could find one close that is ever open.. tell me what you love about it.

RANT Ahead Sorry...
I called Baileys GYM and well if I did monthly for 1 yr its $17.50 monthly plus a 5.00 enrollment.. I asked if I could pay up front (hoping taxes would be perfect as loong as child support doesnt take it all ) and they said its more expensive ??? WHAT ?? $299 total for a year or $210 stretched out... So weird.. Called Golds and they want $34 per month.. Or $200 up front then pay monthly after that with no contract but you have to inform them 30 days in advance in writing to cancel.. ... AGAIN WHAT ?? Doesnt anyone deal in cash anymore?? I swear it Makes me crazy.. I have no bank accounts anymore (due to the house) , I have no credit, I have no credit cards, would be a major pain (due to last 3) to get anything into Paypal.. and I cant pay cash.. Ugggghhh Wrong just wrong...
This was all brought on by me doing something stooooopid and getting on a scale... I hate scales.. I have done so well not knowing what I weigh and just knowing how many inches I have lost but when I saw the numbers I almost cried.. I am at 237 pounds and 30 years old.. I did my profile through the insurance online and it said I was borderline obese??? 5 years ago yeah I was bad off but Max changed the way I saw life and until now I have just done it on my own terms and lost what I thought was alot.> Now that I want to go with an extra push and lose what I want to I hit a road block.. Okay Im sorry ..

I need to step away and breath.. LOL Again sorry.. I guess I need to keep my temper n check a bit.. Glad Max isnt here .> I could just see him now .... "Its okay honey I love yo uteh way you are , your right , maybe you should just ride your bike if you wanna do something more" ... LO L There's no a.c. out there..

Well Im gonna see what I can atch up on that I may have missed today ..
Huggs to all that will take them, Prayers for those who need them ..
Waving hi to everyone!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Aurey do be careful with that sugardropping like that.. Mine does it to sometimes and it feels horrible.. Im learing what to watch for and how o keep it from happening but Im sure a doctor would have a hay day with me.. I test regularly but have never had my sugar tested other than when I was pregnant with Tristen. Havent been to a regular doctor since then other than solantic for a ear infection.. Time to start going I suppose.. Glad your home and toasty warm..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

The mayapples are really neat! Looks like my zone is too high for them though and I have ver little shade right now..

Stacey good for you.. I think your DH is right no job is worth being sick over. . Be careful out there in that Icy stuff!

Marion.. I too have a few Tony and Tristen did that are worth so much hey are not replaceabe.. Although was a dream come trueto hold that single piece in my hands.. .. My mom said she stopped by there today and Bobby was in bad shape.. He had not been out of bed or ate yet at noon.. Shegave him half her sandwhich and he took his insulin and was better before she left. Of course not before calling his wife and telling her what was going on..

BJ make sure you take a break in between cleaning up for your "son"...

Jaye.. Football well yeah its been a weird couple of years.. Im a buckeye so Im proud my boys went the previous 2 years but was really let down by the wya they played.. Now the fiesta bowl they played well.. Dunno I guess thats the way it goes..
