Now I lay this year to rest,
I tell myself I did my best.
I made some dear and loving friends.
We laughed and cried, like chatty hens.
And now we enter a brand new year,
Of fun and swaps and grins and cheer.
We’ll shed a tear for those who hurt.
We’ll pray for those who need support.
My prayer today, and all year long,
For each to learn a brand new song.
To whisper the words to a sistah in need,
And to hear the tune in every deed.
I pray to take the hurt and pain.
Replace all that with peaceful refrain.
To give us each a sense of success,
And teach us how to accept the mess.
AMEN.

I was typing why you were moving
Just love that BJ
BJ's invocation is perfect for us here.
Let's extend the deadline to mail out our swaps to the 16th of January. That will give plenty of time .. right? Kinda self serving too, as I had picked up another sistah :D
Poor you Kim. If you have cat litter, pour some over your spill if you don't have a degreaser at hand.
Lisa, I agree with Sistah Kathy. I'll stay at the motel.. where I'll feel safe. PTL you got some help.. not much, but a little relief there.
I think I won't be starting seeds indoors this year, except for a few brug seed crosses. Don't have much luck even though I use the biodome!
Maid M., hope your sty went away.

Deborah and Cindy, you aren’t alone Laura and I are getting ready to frantically work on finishing up our 2009 Swap also.
BJ, sounds like you are going to have fun having an exchange student around, requires more energy than I have.
Still need to pick up some potting soil….I think we need to wait until around March to wintersow here….we are in one of those weird areas.
Jaye dear, You got ahead of me....posted this on the other room....
Cindy that is really pretty fabric……when I was looking at Victorian Santa Fabric before Christmas I thought of you and Deborah….JoAnn’s some rally beautiful Brocade with Butterflies on it! I may do one of those for next year but the brocade is awful to work with the edges ravel really badly. I did Laura’s in the blue with silver bamboo leaves….said a lot of bad words in the process.
Kim, once you have as much as you can get up with the dry towels use one of the orange -oil based cleaners…cooking oil is awful to clean up……….
Wavingto all~~~~~ sniff, sniff, going back to my tea and warm blanket…….
Deadline's extended Trisha till the 16th. Don't kill yourself trying to finish it!! Your sanity comes first.
Debra, you have a good time with Linda!
Jaye, Oh bless you ....(my sanity went a long time ago)....I know my buddy will be impatient but I hope I can make it worth the wait!
Had to check who your buddy is Trisha.. GOOD NEWS!!!!
She's born with tons of patience!
Yes Audrey
That is your 2009 swap I hope that it put a smile on your face and maybe took away the pain for a few minutes
Hope that you feel well soon
Hugs
Kim(Flamingo Kim)
OH cool.....now I can make some other things to go in my buddies package, hee hee...
Thanks, Jaye
My package is out to my swap buddy ..it is suppose to show up by weds they said.
I hope she likes everything it's nothing fancy mostly hand made stuff with a few things I picked up other wise
so when I arrives since I forgot to put a note in it other then the addy on a paper inside holler at me and I'll give ya a run down of everything, that's what I get for being in a hurry to go clean the apartment and wash a bus today ...LOL
I started some seeds inside already they are in the back room under the lights for now that way maybe they will have started growing my the time my folks come back through to go home and I can send them home with a few for their garden ...they wont plant till April probably but they plants will be ready to put out by then.
so BJ when does the new arrival get there? LOL...poor kid has no idea what he/she is in for uh LOL
Now you know better than that Phyllis. BJ and Don will make the most perfect foster parents.
Audrey, can you describe what you got?
Kim, I got to stop calling you Flamingo Kim. Flaming Kim suits you, since you look so good in a dress!
oh I didn't say they wouldn't I know they will am just thiking of if there is a RU when they are there or Cedric arrives ....LOL
Darn Kim!! You are 'flaming' indeed!!
I don't think they make leather pants my size.... might have to wear a whole cow!! Lol!!
Kim, I can't believe you're so small. This year, I have to start working hard to lose more pounds. Don't want the airlines to charge me extra for excess weight!!
Phyllis, we might be too much for the poor kid too, if he arrives earlier than May :D
Well same here Jaye. I don't think I can even get my chaps on let alone a pair of leather pants. I told Rick the other day that I have gone from Pleastanly Plump to just plain old FAT!!!.......He just about busted a stitch, lol. I said "Well, it's the truth, look at me" He says "I'm not getting into this subject with you because I might say something I shouldn't" LOL, Smart man!
Rick must have some bad experience Cindy!!! Yep, smart man!!!
Kel will always say that he loves me no matter what.... then hands me money to buy more clothes :(
LOL well his late wife was a very large woman and so is his daughter.
Then you have nothing to worry Cindy. He likes his woman ample!! Lolol!!!!!!
What a chatty group today. I had an offer to go out for breakfast and then to the movies and I took it!!! Went to IHop and had the best garden omelet--no pancakes which was a real accomplishment for me. Saw "Tales of Desperaux" and I enjoyed it!! Not a hot date just with the "pirate princesses" and their parents today.
Stye is still there Jaye but I am putting warm compresses on it every so often. This thing is a bummer and hurts!!!
BJ, I think that is a fantastic idea about an exchange student. Ross and I had discussed many times about doing that but with his traveling it just didn't work out. Would have been so rewarding I think.
Debra, take loads of tissues on the big day and just let the tears flow freely. I did and don't regret a one.
I am glad you extended the date until the 16th as I had ordered something special from one of the vendors at the garden festival and he hasn't completed making it yet. I just hope my buddy will like it--if not she can send it back as I covet it and might just have to get myself one made. I think this was such a neat idea--thank you Jaye for thinking of this.
Lisa, I agree with the others about staying where you feel safe. That is by far more important if you can manage the payments. Keep us updated about how things are going with you or someone will certainly send out a search party looking.
Well Jaye may call you Flaming Kim but you will always be Flamingo Kim to me. I am green with envy about your vacationl!! Enjoy a little "eye candy" for me,
will you?
I am beginning to feel like I am dragging behind with my tree still up. Kathy you made me feel lazy today but not to worry--still would have gone out with the girls. To good of an offer to pass up.
Where is Brenda, Heather, Cody? Probably being busy little beavers while we are all chatting.
Audrey take care of your knee. They can really be painful as I am sure you know. Staying off mine a couple of days helped but it won't solve the problem. Starting Monday will try to get a doctor's appointment --or get in with a new doctor up here so I can get a referral to an Ortho doc.
Waving Linda Kay. Enjoy your company--we will keep the fires going until you return.
Janice, just go do it--get a new machine. No, I am not being an enabler just making a helpful suggestion to a sistah in need. LOL
Waving to all I missed.
Teehee I would need a whole cow too! Shhh dont tell MaxI said that he woud be yelling at me for talking down upon myself.. A great Man knows its not all about what size you are thats for sure.. I was a sz 26 when we got married almost 6 years ago and over the last two years I have dropped to a size 16.. Gardening and stress is the best diet ever! LOL :)
Made a great bit of head way today out back in the gardens.. Max and I made a make shift garden box (for veggies and herbs) and filled it with soil out of our potting pile.. Sorted through all the pots and trays to clear out the old crackled ones, arranged a bunch of palms for planting that we have been sitting on and nursing to health, treated for fire ants (got me again, I have to learn to wear real shoes!) and now Im tuckered out! I have nothing left and Max wants to go work some more (hes actually out there mowing the front yard..lol ).. Ugghhh
Tristen is watching diego on pbs and Tony is reading Twilight on the couch.. Dinner is done and I think Im going to lounge until tomorrow..
Hi Marion! Sorry your stye is gving you fits still.. Hopefully it will go away very soon..
Im still working on my 2009 swap box too! Mostly going to be made by me goodies but hopefully my buddy will like it alot!
Donna, I envy you, How warm is it there? It is cold and raining and the wind is blowing, but they say tomarrow is suposse to be sunny so I may get a chance to start winter sowing.
Donna, it will pass just feel dumb to have to get a stye. Can't remember when I had the last one. I am sure your buddy will love anything you make. I can't believe the weather we are having now. Very few of my spring plants have died so far. Did manage to get some pansies and diachia (sp?) planted.
Ok, OK! You guys just got to rub it in don't you, that you have nicer weather than we do. Talk about working outside and planting seeds and what should I plant it in.
And here I sit in 12 degree weather, with snow in the forcast AGAIN; haven't seen the sun since October and my garden is under a ft. of snow...and I'm supposed to listen to you all?
Well, you just wait. When you have 110 in the shade and I am basking in 70 degrees with a light breeze then we will see who envys who...
and Lisa, I still say, "Sue his A@*$%! Small claims court is over $1000 now so you could at least get money for some clothes and furniture.
Im so sorry I dont mean to rub it in.. It was a beautiful 76 today and yes it was nic eto spend the afternoon outside.. Your right though I hate the summer heat but thats why we bought the cheapest pool I could find..lol
As for your stye I had one a few months ago out of the blue..
Well Max is calling for my assistance..
BBL
DOnna
Well Janice, come on down. I don't get that hot during the summer being on the lake and loads of shade trees. Thank goodness as it does help the utility bill. Back door is always open!
Back door friends are best!
Waving to all! ♥♥♥♥♥♥
I couldn't agree more!
sad news, sissy has to have surgery sooner than we expected. she jumped off the couch today, landed wrong and is in pain. she has surgery on monday. cost anywhere between 350-500.
and that"s my price, not everyone else"s
Ouch Sis, your pocket book must have hurt!!!! We found another stray, and her needs a zipper. Kel says if it's not too late for another career, he'd like to be a vet.
HI Cookie!!!
Janice, you could always move down South!!
LOL Well Kel and my sister should get together. She always wanted to be a vet but our Dad said that was no field for a woman!! Loved my dad but it sure shows what he knew.
They could both go back to school and become vets and open a business just for us Sistahs. How about that?
Good evening sistahs... got the living room all rearranged, and started cleaning out a cabinet... didn't realize we had so many books and magazines... they're out of the cabinet now, and they are NOT going back in there... got to decide what to do with them now.
The exchange student program starts in August, and goes for 11 months... so, they're here for all the holidays, then leave after 4th of July. Nope, it won't effect our May Party... and it wont effect any of the RUs I want to go to... the student can either tag along with me, or go with Don, or stay home. We did discuss the fact that Don does travel a lot and won't be home a lot at times... but I can handle it... after all, I did raise my own son's all by myself... I know what I'm getting myself into.
Good idea there Maid M. Kel says one of us sistahs better win the lottery, so he could do that!!!!
Oooo I just noticed... you put my poem up there, Jaye... hehehe
BJ, Kel says the first stanza should read..
Now I lay this year to rest,
I tell myself I did my best.
I made some dear and loving friends.
I craft and swap and kill some plants.
LOL... how does Kel know I kill some plants?... actually, more than a few dies at my hand...
Anyway, you tell Kel, that doesn't rhyme.
I think he's referring to me killing some plants.
He says as for the rhyming, it's close enough.. unless one pronounce 'plants' the British way 'pla'hns"!!!!
Lolol... he was thinking of something ending with Depends, but he felt sorry for me!!
