I brought mine in too early ..... as usual .... though, the other orchid has a bud sheath swelling up.
I was so mad this summer, as it was in a relatively protected spot, but got a nasty sunburn on a couple of leaves one day.
Garden Photos - Part 47
Pretty pictures and pretty orchids everyone. Paintings are really nice, so much talent around this place.

Beautiful, Jo Ann!
Karen
Thanks everyone.I havnt checked this thread since yesterday.
I'm busy with graph paper and measuring tape to see if all my new plants will fit.
JoAnn, great job with your paintings as always.
Phoebe, love the orchids, great idea with the hair clips to hold them upright.
beautiful work as always Jo Ann!
You all are doing great with your orchids! I'm so jealous!
Beautiful as always RC.
Good morning.
very nice RC... nice way to start my day!
Thanks to you both! Exceptionally early this morning Jo Ann!
Very pretty, Shelly. Which hazel is that?
Thanks Victor, and Good Morning. It's Jelena.
I thought so. I used to have that, but lost it due to too many moves.
that's unfortunate. It's definitely a good one to have.
Good morning to all you night owls. I see you have been very busy RC and company. Nice string of pics. Looking for some sun here too but the prospects aren't too good. My fav pic is the dogwood flower, love the color variations in the sun.
shelly - nice pics all of them - wonder if the w. hazel planted this year will bloom here?
I have wanted to plant Witch Hazel for a long time ...... very nice!
Mine did not bloom right away, Bill.
that's what i figures and wasn't planning on it - just did not know for certain - how long did it take?
Can't really remember.
I'm glad I asked about the orchid pictures, Jo Ann --very nice as always---I do exactly what your daughter does, but NO blooms! Rats! Shelley--great to see all that color---love the camelia!
RC--lo-o-o-ve the witch hazel pic!

Not fair that you have flowers now, Shelly!
Such beautiful photos to view as we hunker down for another ice storm. I love that camellia. Great color depth.
Thanks to all, you're kind! I wish i could say that I had all that color in my yard! But, I don't. My camellia flowers froze in the last round of snow. The only ones there that were taken in my yard were the cyclamen and erica and the pic of the river was taken down the rd. a half mi.. The others were all taken around a neighborhood in town, about 1000' lower in elevation..... so they have the blooming things! I have a few hellebores that are thinking about opening, but they're stuck in the same stage as they were 3 weeks ago.
Bill, some varieties of which hazels will bloom when they are just a couple years old, others we're not so lucky with. Good sun really helps. I have a 6" tall Hamamelis 'christmas cheer' that actually tried to bloom in early Dec, only to have the blooms die when they got covered in a foot of snow.
Shelly - I, too, love that shot of your witch hazel, and I also love that camellia covered with water drops......you post so many pretty shots. I'm a fan!
Louise
Shelly, good luck with the weather system coming in for you. I know the NE is going to get it again.
