No garden stuff this time, Louise.
Here's my beech from the guest bedroom window. Coming at ya'!
Garden Photos - Part 47
Nice photos--the conifer is loaded with cones! Great for the birds---pine siskins have been reported in our area---they love cone seeds.
Nice house on the top.
"Are they really happy?"
Probably miserable. ^_^
I agree with everyone else Jo Ann, your work is amazing!
Victor, I love the beech. What kind of contorted beech is it?
I've never known the folks on the top of the hill to be content!
Weeping European beech - Fagus sylvatica 'Pendula'.
Its a pity they have to define themselves by their big houses.
Different strokes.
Your tree images are great.
I agree - not into the mcmansion thing.
Thanks - I think I posted four, though. (Hee hee.)
That is a nice house on the top of the hill. I hope they don't have more house than they can afford. So many people get themselves into that kind of pickle.
Victor, how much zoom do you have on your camera?
Karen
About 11 X, Karen. It's the 18-200 mm zoom lens (35 mm equivalent of 27-300 mm.)
People getting houses they could not afford is what got US into a pickle!
I'm still looking into getting that Panasonic with the 18x zoom. I got a lot of gift cards for Ritz Camera, but I may buy it elsewhere if I can save a big chunk of money on it. I can always use the gift cards for getting prints made.
Karen
You've definitely had that tree a while Victor. I've never seen one of that sort that was that tall. It has a ton of character! Love that last picture.
You are a true romantic Victor, the last shot is wonderful.
Very true Jo Ann!
Hi RC Monday is the first day of the REAL year ,dont you think?
Thanks!
I sure will
Yep, Jo Ann, I do concur about Monday! I'm also looking forward to see the blooms on your orchids here soon.
Pheobe... very pretty!
Thanks--was a mish-mosh practicing with new camera pic :-p
Another picture to paint, Jo Ann---the pond is super---I'd love to see you do the orchid as well---I have 4 orchids--none are blooming, or look like they want to bloom--what does your DD do to hers?
She takes it outdoors in late May and leaves it under a tree, doesnt water unless it rains.
Takes it in in late October just befor really hard frosts and puts it in my livingroom. The only room on first floor with a south window.
It puts out a bloom spike in late Dec-Jan and thats it. I would like to see more bloomspikes but its her plant so I dont intrude.
I did paint the yellow cymbidium Here it is.
ooops wrong one
Beautiful - love the last one.
very nice
thanks, just doin ma jahb
Gonna have to take some more photos to help with your job!
I used to put my orchids out in the summer, but I kept getting slugs, so I stopped.
beautiful Ge
Slugs dont bother this plant.
We have them so I dont know why. It gets a spider in late summer so I'm glad it needs the cold weather before comming inside.
I think its treatment is abusive but its thriving, DD tried to divide it but the division didnt take. She really has the botony background so thats her territory.
I seem to recall that they require cold nights in the fall to trigger the blooms. As soon as you see that little nub start to form way down low, it is time to bring it in.
I would be hard-pressed to choose between the three, JoAnn. Very nice.
I didnt see the nub last fall but thats nothing new.
I just bring it in and in a couple of months the new bloom shoot shows up.
It looks like a new leaf clump at first.
Last year we had two bloom shoots, no other so far, just the one.
