The Chatty Amaryllis Coop (let's keep it going)

(Cathy), MO

I do think I'm going to check with Bleek and see what he would do for us. The ones I got from him this year were big nice bulbs and true to name. I'm like Susan, 2 of my Red Peacock were NOT Red Peacock. Still pretty, but not what I thought

Birdie, that's the way Jewel's petals are shaped.

Cathy maybe Bleek could get Black Pearl.

Think I will email him and see what the possibilites are

Dyane - do you mean that is not a center blossum, but just more center petals that are shaped like that? How strange! I thought it was a center bloom

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

The center petals are shaped like that. It's a bit unusual but I think it's interesting looking.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

LOL....TY for telling me, now I can go to sleep tonight and not wait for them to open. hehehe.... the 3rd flower is opening and still no center bloom , I was beginning to wonder!!

'Dancing Queen' started to bloom today, so far no mis-matched ones here.

Thanks , it like a pink-salmon color. not really pink but not really peach either.....I love it!

Beautiful Pixie! It's fun to see all the different blooms!

I emailed Bleek and asked about a possible coop later this year, but no reply yet. If anyone else has any ideas or sources we can check with, jump in.

I'm looking at the co-op for Clematis....can never have to many of them either! lol

Dancing Queen was a slow starter for me, but once it started to grow, it took off and ended up 25" tall. Only 3 blooms, but they are very large and showy. If you look at the stem, I think it is fasciated. The one bloom facing the camera has lots more petals than the other 2 blooms.

Here's one of the other flowers that has fewer petals. I think the one bloom was affected by the fasciation and not the other 2.

We have had some amazing blooms from these amaryillis...I'm hooked! LOL

Cat, these BP were really spectacular and have lasted for a very long time. I got these from a local nursery this year and looking at the tag theys are from a place called: Simple Pleasures Flowerbulbs and Perrenials. Product of Holland with adresses for the Us(PO Box9004,Babylon, NY 111702) UK, Canada and Holland. I'm all for contacting them. If there's a next time around, I think I'm going to go with fewer bulbs but more excotics.

Pretty pics everyone.

Goofy, got a second Moonlight seed sprouted both of which were done in a papertowel soaked in peroxide diluted with water and kept in a ziplock bag. Started on the 5th of this month. The second one is actually as big a root as the first one. I just saw it this morning.

Now I am going to plant them in small pots. Maybe will sprinkle some vermiculite on them. What do you think? The Verm. is not the small stuff for seed starting. Bigger. I have coir in the basement but I can't get down there or I would use that.

The seeds I have in pots started the same time have not sprouted.

Jeanette

Edited to add: I forgot to say that I will put the pots in a ziplock after planting.

Hey all, I emailed Bleek about the possibility of a coop this summer. Just got a reply that he would be happy to handle one but they don't even start thinking about bulbs until May. He says he will get back with me in May.
