Birdie my pasadena has the same coloring ... not sure if that's just the way it is... or something is wrong

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

9 Kitties...really?? (that many cats?) I love em..my petit chat is sitting on my forearm (balanced) as I type!
ohhh! I'd love to try a couple seeds. It must take a long time for a seed to turn into a bulb, though. hmmmm. I dis not get either of those 2. I will Dmail my addy to you. Thanks!

somewhere, PA

I have three bulbs from the coop going now - two with flower stalks and the third with
just leaves. One bloomed before thanksgiving and hasn't got a leaf yet. tap tap tap.
I'm waiting for the bloom - those are glorious Susan KittyMom!!!!

Black Pearl getting closer. I am aggravated with the camera. It doesn't capture the rich dark 'black' red. Without a flash it is kinda blurry and with the flash it is 'wrong'.

with the flash, see what I mean?

you can set up an external light source or if you can set up a bounce flash

I have that same problem taking photos of my BP... trying to get that, like you said, that dark rich black color. I just don't have right camera.
Aren't they pretty though? And most of the blooms are huge, like little dinner plates! I am so very glad they bloomed for you. Nice pics anyway

I also have seed pods on my red 'peacock' which I actually believe is red 'lion' . So there are those that will be available if you want to take a chance. LOL

Birdie, I think my answer comes a bit late. I had Moonlight (selfcrossed) seeds, for any who wanted them (posted somewhere in the old thread). But those are gone now.

I hope to have more soon, as I crossed Orange Sovereign (4 flowers) with Moonlight, Jewel, Pasadena and Papillio pollen. There hopefully be 4 seedheads on it soon. Since I am trying to send only the biggest seeds from the pod, I can usually give away two packets from one seedpod.

Anybody interested in any of the above, please say so. I do not ask for any trade, just let me know if you want some. I don't know what's customary to send, I sent about 20 seeds per packet. If you want less, it's easy for me to accommodate your request.

Susan-9Kitty, if you get Black Pearl seeds, would you please send me a couple? That deep red is just breathtaking!

Jeanette (sorry for answering so late), I placed them to sprout in water (less space). Checking them every now-and-then. I have no idea of the germination rate, I cannot test them and then send them, as it is said the best results are for fresh seed (about 1 month). So I'm sending about 20, hoping that they will all sprout, but preparing for less. I don't want to send something that would lead to nothing, you know?

I have nothing going on right now, but second bloom-stalks forming on Pasadena and OS. I will play with pollen on the next OS blooms too...

Beautiful flowers everyone! More, more, more!

Happy New Year and happy blooming gardens, everyone!

I love those Black Pearls, will have to look for them next year. All of my whites are opening first. Still waiting on Red Lion, Red Peacock, and Papilio.

I have a question...when the bloom fades do you just cut off the bloom and leave that hollow stem or do you cut it all the way down?

I am now going to be a show-off with my pics LOL

What a wondeful window to have them in. I just have the N facing kitchen window to cram them all into.
G'nite all. Happy faces in the morning and stay warm!

Robin (arejay59), I placed you on my list. Let me know if you have a preference for any of the crosses. I have no idea what they will turn up ti be when they'll flower, but I look at the parents and try to imagine what the combined colors or petal shapes might give.

I checked and all 4 pollinated flowers seem to grow a pod, but here I write the crosses again (momma X poppa, momma being the seed bearer and poppa being the pollen donor).

Orange Sovereign X Jewel
Orange Sovereign X Moonlight
Orange Sovereign X Pasadena
Orange Sovereign X Papillio

Who asks first gets to choose.

Beautiful flowers, Dyane and Wine!

Wineaux, if I don't expect seedheads on them, I cut them as low toward the ground as I can (without damaging leaves or the bulb). If I hope for seeds, I don't do anything, well, maybe move those pots away from the first line of sight...

goffybulb, Any color. Wine sounds nice was that one of the colors? What can I trade you?
Robin

Richland, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL, Robin! Wine is how I call Wineaux... a good wine colored Amaryllis I imagine is that Black Pearl that I don't have! No need for trade.
:o)

Litchfield, ME(Zone 5a)

Lol...Like I said any color will make me smile. I don't even know what color the one that I got for Christmas will be suspecting red. But...who knows.
Thank You again if you see something on my list you would like to try just let me know.

Hi everyone. Sorry I dropped off the face of the earth. Had company since Christmas Eve and that #$%^!! bug is back. I got rid of it for a week or so, but it came back with a vengeance. Antibiotics didn't do it, so I'm going to try the natural route this time.

Gorgeous blooms you guys! My Red Peacock's are about done. This is Picotee several days ago. So far this has been the longest lasting. The boooms stayed over 2 weeks! Just planted my Aphrodite a week ago so nothing there yet.

I would love a seed to try, your choice.
I am enclosing a pic of my homemade support using the wire hanger instructions that we were given a few weeks ago. It was very easy to do. I used a different type of pliers that I had with a wide flat surface. I will also include a pic of that. This person gave us a very great plan. the longer loop fits wonderfully across the wide area of the bulb to support the stem.
OOPS Wrong pcture!!

Love that Picotee! My luck with it... the second bulb barely moved since planting. But not getting soft, which is good. I keep talking to it: "yeah, take your time, take your time!"

Got you Birdie! What's that leafy thing?

good job Birdie!

Wow, everyones blooms are beautiful! I'm still waiting but at least now it's starting to look promising. I have buds on 3 or 4 I think, will take some pictures when they open.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

Goofy - "that leafy thing" is some kind of Hoya noid that I recieved in a plant swap. I am hoping that those "nubs" in the picture are possibly beginnings of roots. That pic was supposed to be posted in the Hoya forum

Richland, MI(Zone 5b)

Well, then rootin-tootin' for the little Hoya's roots! I recently heard of them and I am waiting for spring to decide if I "need" one... but first I have to see if I have the resources to make one happy...

Cat...tons of crystal vitamin C...it will knock that bug right out of you.

(Cathy), MO

I feel like I've tried everything known to man! Started gargling (and drinking) a little apple cider vinegar last night, and doing the onion thing. If you can stand the burning, that really opens you up! :-)
I got some Airborne and have been chewing them up like candy. I think each one has 1000 mg of Vit C. What is "crystal" Vitamin C??? Something different?

Love that support Birdie. So far I only had to have a support for one bulb. Lucked out this year.
