the part that goes into the soil, Instead of cutting it off, I curled it up to make it a little sturdier, too. I didn't know if anyone else tried to follow those plant, but I for 1 will be making my own plant supports from now on. The hard part was that I am so weak I could barely cut the thing with the wire cutter part of the plier. LOL
I got an Email asking for the type of pliers---heck if I know, that's why I showed a pic...if anyone knows the correct name for them, please tell me...TY

The Chatty Amaryllis Coop (let's keep it going)
Finally Pixie! Congratulations...very pretty.
Thank you Win!
My stalks kept themselves (one leaned on the window, but it was close to it), so I didn't have to use my strength and imagination for it, but Birdie did a great job. I can ask my hubby for the name of the pliers, if someone needs to know.
Pixie, long-expected but wonderful blooms!
Cathy, try boiled wine in the evening. Simply put, it's red wine (never had white wine), with a bit of sugar (to taste), and cinnamon and cloves as spices. Put on stove, low-med heat, bring to simmer, bring the mugs, serve. The cloves have antiseptic properties, cloves extract is used in the tooth-fillings... Please get well soon!
Cathy, lots of chicken soup, truly, there is something in the chicken broth that aids the immume system.
I would like to know the name of those pliers so that I can tell anybody rather than use pics,(in case I don't have the pics, too) I really think that extra bend at the base made it xttra sturdy, too!
Beautiful Pixie! I got a Pasadena after the coop from Bleeks, but it hasn't bloomed yet.
I love seeing everyones bloom. It helps me know which ones I want for next year!
Thanks everyone, I think I feel a little better today. I'm just going to have to accept the fact that I'm not a spring chicken anymore and take better care of myself when I get a bug of some kind. Slow down a little. I used to get over them so quick! Ah the joys of getting older! :-)
Pasadena has been one of my favorites from the co-op. Not real large for me, but flowers seem to last a long time. Here is what I've been using to stake my Amaryllis. I got them from eBay and the copper is soft enought to bend easily with your hands. I can make larger loops for the ones with double stems and change the position of the loops easily for taller or shorter ones. I found them on eBay by searching under plant stakes. I think they would be easy to make and the bead at the top could be omitted. I think this Amaryllis is Gilmar.
Susan
love that one
Yes, very pretty!!!
All my red Lion has done is put up leaves. Those of yours are gorgeous.
Go Birdie, go! Come on sweet thing open up for mommy.
Jeanette, Lima is gorgeous. Too bad that gift never made it to it's destination. (I think I would find another present for her and keep that one)
That Papillo is gorgeous!
Yes, Iit sure is and I will deffinately be getting a few next year!!
Orange Sovereign starting to open. I harvested these today, so if any of you want some better speak up.
Susan
=^.,.^=
Which one was suposed to be fragrant? Has anyone had that kind bloom yet? What does it smell like?
pretty Pixie
Thanks Allison! ^_^
Very nice. Jeanette
She's pretty, that's another I wish I had gotten.
Look , Look!!! Finally!! A bloom!! I think this must be a double too!!!..
The low temp that I keep my house must be what slowed this bloom so long. I'm gonna be gone from the 1/28 - about 2/6 and hope I don't miss anything from my other ones.
LOL, I figure that as slow as they've been with me here and heating the house during the day to 64* or so and only 55* at night or when away, that during my extended absense.....probably not much will occur @ that chilly temp.
This must be a double...wonder how long it will be before the center opens, and also there are 3 other blooms yet to open of this incredibly tall stalk
Oh, thats pretty!!! Congrats!!!
Well it's about time Birdie!!!! LOL
I have harvested 3 bowls full of seeds now. Orange Sovereign, Red Peacock(not)aka Red Lion, and Moonlight.
It looks like Black Pearl is sending up another bloom and it is also setting seed pods.
Susan
=^..^=
One of the seeds that Goofy sent me has an eighth inch long root on it!! One that I put in a paper towel wet with water and peroxide and put in a ziplock. I put 4 in there and then planted some. This one just started. I think Goofy said they are Moonlight.
Jeanette
Love the red in the throat!
Allison that looks great for sprouting in a bag!
Just picked up a new one at Walmart called 'Grand Cru' it looks very dark. It was only 4 dollars and came with a pot to plant it in!!
Hi all. I finally got back in here. Gorgeous blooms. I knew you could do it Birdie!
I'm considering this year a "trial" run. Seeing what varieites I like and which ones I don't thisnk I will get next year. So far, Picotee and Aphrodite are my favorites. Wish we could find someplace next year that has Black Pearl though. That's gorgeous! Wineaux, do you think the place you got them would be interested in selling us a few at a discounted prince this fall?
