Wake up ladies..................................

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm awake...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Well back again. Tia, Tina, Whatever am I ever glad to see you posting again. Beginning to get a little worried after you posted hubby was due in that night. Oh well, all is back to normal--as normal as this group ever gets!!! Welcome Darlene. Glad to have you joining us. Saw your quilt on the other thread--great job and to think it has fabric all the way from Florida and I have wonderful slippers. All is right with the world!!!

Brenda, how did the soup come out? I knew but had forgotten about the changes in cooking with different altitudes. Blond moment--well grayish blond maybe. LOL

Oh BJ, Christmas dinner at your house. Sounds like fun. Things are a little up in the air here about Christmas dinner. Hard to explain but short version is Kim and I will be at home doing a standing rib roast for 2! Sometime during the day I am sure I will see the granddaughters but no dinner together this year. Some time, some where might fill why in but for now--just us 2. For a change I am fine with that. Guress I am maturing even more. Hope so.

Tink, if the weather conditions are going to be that bad--don't go to work. That is just plan dangerous at best. This is really getting to be one bad winter storm isn't it?

OH my I did love the pictures you requested to be posted Trisha. Beautiful is inadequate for that picture!!! Wish we had more lights in our neighborhood but alas not so. Laura, so what are you up to if you are snowed in? Keeping busy I guess with Sage.

Donna, just stay calm. Yes we all love you here and are wishing for a wonderful day for Tony and Tristen. Do enjoy with tons of love from all of us!!!!!

Debra, what are you having for weather now? Still hot and would you believe it the stores have their heat on! No way but Kim did remind me it is December therefore heaters should be on. I lost the logic there somewhere.

Linda from Jax, lucky you not to have cashed the check. What a mess but it does sound like it was a little fun with the officer. Hey eye candy is always good!!!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Marion, trying to get our new computer back to where the old one was mainly. Talking on here. Might put more Christmas stuff up tonight or work on craft projects I wanted to get to, but more likely I'll end up watching movies or playing games.

It's actually not that different from most days for me; I spend most of my time stuck at the house. It's just if there wasn't snow there are things I would like/need to do.

I am going to have to spend some time putting applications (500 plus) in envelopes to be mailed. Yuck. I don't think it will be needed if the calls for the festival can be believed but who knows until apps return with booth rental fees. Time will tell.

Still need to decorate tree. Shhhhh, don't let Jaye hear that!! She will be scolding me.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Marion, I don't have much Christmas decorations up. I got them out, but not up.

Coushatta, LA

Kim did the snow ever start back?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Yes Marion, when I saw that picture I knew you and Jaye especially would enjoy it !

They say we will not even get up to freezing for our high tomorrow....bbrrrrrrrrr!

My poor dog, Porter, has done something to her front leg and is limping badly right now.....I think she has reached that point where she is going to have to have a set of steps to get on the bed. She is so used to sleeping on our feet and it is getting too difficult for her to get up and down these days. If she isn't better tomorrow we may have to see the vet....not what I needed right now.

Norman, OK

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. But all that talk of snow, sleet and ice burrrrrr!!!!!! Making me shivvvvveer in my booties. Stay home its not worth the risk. Make candy and eat it that will warm you up.
And then I hear of a HUNK!!!!!!!!!! WHOA getting me warmer.
Thank you Abbisgranma I couldn't have done it with out your help. The quilt. Can you see your stoplite red pokadot fabric in it. It was perfect.(the fabric you sent) Thanks again.
I made it shopping there and back just fine you must have prayed for me. Weather was ok. Really not cold just froggy and misty.

Grandma Today

In the dim and distant past
When life's tempo wasn't so fast,
Grandma used to rock and knit,
Crochet, tat and baby sit.

When the kids were in a jam,
They could always call on Gram.
But today she's in the gym
Exercising to keep slim.

She's checking the web or surfing the net,
Sending some e-mail or placing a bet.
Nothing seems to stop or block her,
Now that Grandma's off her rocker.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Don't know where you found it but that is a good one!

Good Night Ladies Sweet Dreams

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I get Jokes by email

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

You know, these differing time zones take some getting used to! Soup turned out really good (just took longer), but the recipe (Martha Stewart's) recommended adding croutons to the top, and honestly, that was NOT good. They just turn into soggy mush. The soup was great when we had a little for lunch, then added the croutons at dinner and, well, yuck. Some things are just good the way they are!

That picture of the lights reflecting off the lake is just gorgeous! That Grandma poem is funny! Sweet dreams to all...

Brenda

Have a wonderful day!!!!!

MOrning-I called my boss and am going to try to make it in @ 2pm-we got 1/2" of sleet and then 2.5" on snow-so not much, but now we are getting freezing rain-expecting to get 1-2" of ice:( They are worried about power lines snapping from the weight:( We are under a level 2 snow emergency, which means, only travel if you HAVE to and if you get in an accident, if you DON'T need an ambulance, don't call the police-they are only responding to injury accidents....

Coushatta, LA

Good Morning Ladies can't stay i will catch up with you all this evening.I have to go to Texas.Chow for now

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh Tina...welcome back. Welcome to you too Darlinmoma. I missed you so much, Tina. What a proud Mom and Grandma you two must be. I'm glad things are going well there in OK.

I have to go back up and read the rest of the thread...I just came to say welcome back.

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

How are yall doing? This seems like such a warm and cozy group, can I sit with my coffee and veg with yall for awhile? I am new to DG, lurked for a year or so and joined yesterday. Since it was nasty outside I dug up my stuff and started digging in these forums.

So are there questions I have to answer to hang out? A ritual or something? :) ♥

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

The only thing you have to do is tell us about yourself and we generally like to refer to each other by first name basis if that is OK...

Stacey

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Welcome Henygirl,
You can bet we will ask all kinds of questions. First we are off we are on first name basis here. Hi I'm Cindy. Now we will start asking you what kind of crafts you do. I do all kinds of crafts, but my main thing right now is soy candles. We have shoulders to cry on, we give out BIG hugs where needed. Swaps we do lots of swaps, lol. There are others here who are better at explaining things here.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Henygirl go to this link and you can find out all about us then tell about yourself

My name is Heather. We just moved to WV from AL [live in AL for 14 years]. My husband and I lived in FL before AL. HOWEVER my entire extended family is from AL. So I am a transplanted Southern Girl ....moved almost to the North!! :)

I have six kiddos. Three of those are teenage girls, then two soon to be teenage boys and the youngest daughter we call The Dutchess.

I stay home and they are all in school now. Which means I should have tons of time on my hands but it seems to never be the case.

I am already getting OVER my snow fascination!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Welcome Henygirl...jump in here too!

Stacey, please don't go out if the roads aren't better by this afternoon. You are NEEDED here and if you fall or get in an accident, all your Aunties will be so worried and upset!

Have a safe trip Cody.

BJ....no dragonfly????? Your bottles are just beautiful...

Pssssttt...Kathy got a sewing machine....but don't tell her I'm the one that told you.....

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Wow 6 kids, how in the world did you survive that, LOL?

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

I sew.........my mom owned a sewing shop in AL so I taught childrens sew camp and serger classes plus the computer software that went with the machines.

I am a 'learning' gardener [is that one obvious?]

I love decorating.

I sometimes like to cook.....I cook alot but do not always love it.

Apparently my biggest hobby is laundry! :(

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Heather....that reminds me of that old email that went around about the guy who was so facinated with the snow on the 1st and 2nd day....by the end....not so much!!!

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

So Joyce, where is Kathy? Is she feeling ok. Have you mailed out your containers for me yet?

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Yep with 6 kids and three of them teenage girls I can see where you would be doing laundry alot, yuk. I hate having to fold clothes and put them away. Somtime they stay in the basket until I get tired of tripping over the basket, lol.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Here are some funnies for you:
What is Butt Dust???

What, you ask, is 'Butt dust?' Read on and you'll discover the joy in
it! These have to be original and genuine. No adult is this creative!!

JACK (age 3) was watching his Mom breast-feeding his new baby sister.
After a while he asked: 'Mom why have you got two? Is one for hot and
one for cold milk?'

MELANIE (age 5) asked her Granny how old she was. Granny replied she
was so old she didn't remember any more. Melanie said, 'If you don't
remember you must look in the back of your panties. Mine say five to
six.'

STEVEN (age 3) hugged and kissed his Mom good night. 'I love you so much that when you die I'm going to bury you outside my bedroom window.'

BRITTANY (age 4) had an ear ache and wanted a pain killer. She tried in
vain to take the lid off the bottle. Seeing her frustration, her Mom
explained it was a child-proof cap and she'd have to open it for her.
Eyes wide with wonder, the little girl asked: 'How does it know it's me?'

SUSAN (age 4) was drinking juice when she got the hiccups. 'Please
don't give me this juice again,' she said, 'It makes my teeth cough.'

DJ (age 4) stepped onto the bathroom scale an d asked: 'How much do I
cost?'

MARC (age 4) was engrossed in a young couple that were hugging and
kissing in a restaurant. Without taking his eyes off them, he asked his
dad: 'Why is he whispering in her mouth?'

CLINTON (age 5) was in his bedroom looking worried When his Mom asked what was troubling him, he replied, 'I don't know what'll happen with
this bed when I get married. How will my wife fit in it?'

JAMES (age 4) was listening to a Bible story. His dad read: 'The man
named Lot was warned to take his wife and flee out of the city but his
wife looked back and was turned to salt.' Concerned, James asked: 'What
happened to the flea?'

TAMMY (age 4) was with her mother when they met an elderly, rather
wrinkled woman her Mom knew. Tammy looked at her for a while and then
asked, 'Why doesn't your skin fit your face?'

The Sermon I think this Mom will never forget.... this particular Sunday
sermon...'Dear Lord,' the minister began, with arms extended toward
heaven and a rapturous look on his upturned face. 'Without you, we are
but dust...' He would have continued but at that moment my very obedient
daughter who was listening leaned over to me and asked quite audibly in
her shrill little four year old girl voice, 'Mom, what is butt dust?'

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi Cindy....no :O( haven't mailed them yet....and I'm needing those candles....really no rush, I will try to get them in the mail on Monday or Tuesday or I might wait until after Christmas to avoid the awful rush.

Kathy has been busy. She is feeling much better than she was but says she hasn't been on because of how busy she has been. I know she is still chatting by phone with some of the sisters cause she already knew about Aunt Lisa.

I'm going to wait until after Christmas to mail out my 2009 box too to avoid the Christmas rush too. I had to stand in line at the PO yesterday to mail an express envelope to Finland...over half an hour...yuk. Could have been worse, cause I left work early to avoid the 5:00 people!

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh those are soooo cute!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

CIndy-that was sute-tyhanks!!!

Joyce-I am hoping they can get the roads under control....my boss isn't coming in today (ooo-shocker) because her daycare is closed....

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

I bet she gets coal in her stocking this year.....

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

OK Joyce, that's cool. I'm not mailing out 2009 swap pressie until after Christmas, also. Besides that I haven't even started it yet, I'm sooooooooo BAD. I've had 3 months to make it but then got caught up in candles and other thingies, lol.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Well we certainly are getting snow on out mountains. They closed I-80 to Reno last night. This is good because it means lots of water in the lakes this summer yippie.

Morgantown, WV(Zone 6a)

So I have been reading the other thread. Should I just watch this year or participate? Yall are fun!! :)
