YEPPIE!!! LOL So where's the snow angel?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

We don't have that much yet, that is my mums beloved Lava Rock under the beautiful snow.......I hate that stuff.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Auntie M-what is Abbi's sisters name??

OK-here is my new pretty from Tatne Jaye:)

So pretty! We're up to about 9" of snow since last night! The dogs don't know what to make of it... it comes up to the Cavalier's chins, LOL! And the goofy lab just keeps leaping around in it! Still working on the baking, had to refrigerate the dough so snickerdoodles and my favorite triple chocolate truffle cookies are going in the oven soon, did a little research and learned a few things about baking in higher elevations, we'll see if it pays off.

Jaye, your stepladder joke made me laugh!!!!

Brenda

Trishia, this is weird, but my favorite Christmas story is "All Quiet On The Western Front". The movie, made in 1930, has the most hautingly beautiful scene of German and British soldiers in WWI dug into their foxholes waiting for daylight to begin shooting each other. It's Christmas eve and a German voice can be heard singing 'Silent Night'. Ultimately, they all start to sing, declare a truce, and celebrate together for one night sharing liquor and cigarettes. I cry every time I see it.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Brenda, your cookies smell delicious!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Yipee! We got it done! The Christmas tree is up. DH fell off a ladder trying to hang the wreath over the front door and hit his head on the brick porch. Scraped himself up a little. He's very lucky not to have ended up in the hospital. He's ok and we were able to finish the job. Our tree is kind of tall and skinny so I have to stand in the next room to get it all in the photo. LOL!

Stacey, her name's Catie-Beth.. Marion's other grandaughter.. as she'd say.. the spit-fire!

You sistahs can keep the snow. I'd rather view it from afar or via postcards!!

Brenda, does that means your swap buddy will be getting some of that "snicker-doodles"?

Hmm.. favorite Christmas story... I'd say "Miracle on 34th Street" and "Christmas Story". Though the one Debra mentioned tugged at my heartstrings each time I see it.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Since there are so many crafters here, I'd like to share the nativity scene my late DMIL made for me a few years ago. She did the petit point figures then I sewed them together and stuffed them.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ouch! That must have hurt your poor DH, Debra. Just give him extra Tylenol with a Bordeaux chaser!!
That's painstaking detailed work Debra, what your late MIL made for you. I can't attempt petit-point.. don't have the patience!!
It will be a beautiful Christmas at the Fuquas' house, with that beautiful Christmas tree taking center stage!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Debra, yes, I had forgotten that one.....that is a fantastic movie isn't it?!
Brenda, we are waiting for the cookies....mmmm, smell wonderful.....

Right now we have a fire going and a 1936 version of A Christmas Carol playing....it is getting very cold out now.

Christmas party at DH's work is at 8:00.....I've heard they have quite a time.....this is our first Holiday with the new ownership so should be interesting.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trisha, I bet you'd be tasting every bits of morsels offered. Hope they're generous as to offer fine champagne, and maybe a Christmas bonus for all the employees.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh Debra, tell him to be careful.....my cousin did the same last week, broke his knee and his foot and was in surgery yesterday.

The Nativity is beautiful !

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't know about the Champagne, but they did include a bonus in last weeks pay check... not a lot but enough to get us through Christmas for a change. For which I am very thankful.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Knowing you, you're still thanking them. Not many companies offer Christmas bonuses, not even a turkey or ham. Guess just having the doors open should be bonus enough.
Pls. let Sage know that Kel loves to get pencils for his nieces and nephews, and she'll be getting more of them for sure!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

*peeking in around the corner*
geez ya sure make it hard to keep up with so much chatter ...rofl...
BJ love your creations

Everyone please take care of yourselves no sickies for Christmas LOL

yes I've been lurking so to speak
have all my Christmas cookies made now did them all yesterday and have one last batch of my hard candy to get made
still have to tackle the quilt for my mom to get it done but am thinking since I picked up a couple of templates if I mark the quilt with the water clean off pencil then I could sew it on the machine IF the machine plays nice ...am just afraid I'll mes sit up but never know til I try.

Stacy watch for UPS tomorrow your package says it will arrive tomorrow.

can't wait for friday to get here already as that is my last day of work til after the new year we get 2 wks off.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Well hello stranger!! I bet your kitchen must have smelled as good as Brenda's.
Yes, try machine quilting it. Phyllis I know you can do it.. you're always facing challenges with the "I can" attitude! Mark of a winner!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sage is here Jaye, I told her what you said about Kel and the pencils. She said "That is strange, but I like it;"

It is pretty unusual.....but I have to say Bill has done very well for this company for many many years....I am just happy to see that the New owners appreciate and acknowledge that......rarely got a good word, much less a bonus from the previous owner.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Ladies, I bet I just had something y'all haven't had in a long time! I made myself some chocolate gravy, and ate it with a spoon! Yummy! Like pudding, but no eggs, and easier and faster to make!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Chocolate gravy!!!! Oh yum!!!!!! My great aunt used to make it when we were kids. We would eat it with hot buttered bisquits for breakfast.

Phyllis, be sure to take a photo of your quilt before you send it off. It's going to be beautiful.

Will say goodnight. Tomorrow is another 7:30am day and must leave here by 6:45. The next three days are going to be crazy busy - will pop in when able. Sweet dreams sistahs.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

OK, I have to ask what petit-point is, as awell as chocolate gravy? Never heard of either one. I also have to ask what the story is of the, A Cup of Christmas Tea

Phyllis, what kind of Christmas cookies did you make?
And those snickerdoodle are really good to, with a cup of coffee, or a glass of milk.

Good night everyone. Sleep tiht.

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sage,
all our nieces and nephews live overseas. Four live in France, and the others in Singapore. They love getting pencils from the USA! We also send them Oreo cookies!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sage said "No Fair, they get Cookies!"

She is the original sugar bear!!
Sage and Laura have been over helping me find all the Christmas stuff and we have been watching all of the versions of A Christmas Carol on the On Demand Channel....1930' for Laura and I and now an animated version for Sage...we will drop them at home on the way to our party. i love having them over.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks Trisha, for the link, I have never heard that one before. Looks like were never too old to learn new things! Wonderfull story.

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Audrey, cocolate gravy sounds yummy.. I'll be looking for cut fruits to dip.. Watch your sugar, please.
LK, petit -point is another needle craft. Similar to your cross stitches, but the older ladies will just do a slant stitch over the canvas.
Trisha, I had to read that twice. Of course I cried.. but for myself. A little self pity there as the kids that call me Aunt are so far away..

Sage, you'll get some cookies too!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Jaye, I got busy helping Kim stuff bags for her students tomorrow. They all leave a shoe in the hall and get candy with the exception of one who gets a bundle of sticks. Hope she choses wisely. Tink Jaye was correct with the name: Spit fire!!!!!

Brenda, between you and Phyliis wondeful smells are drifting this way!!! Well Tuesday is Kim's last day so I guess we will start our baking then. I would love to have seen the lab playing in the snow. I think they make a game of everything they do!!!

Linda Kay are you back home yet? Take it easy on the foot!!

Debra, what an heirloom you have!! Oh my at the hours that represents not to mention the love put into that nativity. Lucky lady. Hope hubby is okay from his fall---those are scary!!

Oh Trisha, I know you are having fun with the snow. Gosh, send me some please. Are you predicted to get very much? Have fun, enjoy but don't slip on any ice!!!

Cindy, sounds like sunny California is cold now. It was suppose to get to 72 here today but I don't think it made it. Overcast and with a slight chill in the air most of the day. We are suppose to get to 75 Wednesday then start cooling off again.

Well dear Sistah, I am tired, knee is bothering me so I am off to bed. Haven't read today's paper so I think I will do that then call it a night. Take care all and will chat tomorrow.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, sleep well sistah.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ok first off the quilt will stay here as my folks are going to be here the day after Christmas for here as they go down to mission area for the month of January so not a problem on getting a picture

now my list of goodies made

Peanut butter kisses ( the cookies with the Hersey kiss in the middle), Swedish heirloom cookies ( a ball cookie with chopped nuts rolled in powdered sugar after baking), candied fruit slices ( a cookie that is chilled rolled into a log then sliced with red and green candied cherries and chopped nuts), spritz's ( red wreaths and green trees ..the ones you use a cookie press to make). then I make hard candy and this year I made cinnamon (always make it), grape, peppermint, root beer and watermelon. I use the LorAnn oils ( https://www.lorannoils.com/ ) and luckily I found them at hobby lobby ..otherwise I would have had to order them I have used them for over 28 years and swear by it LOL

Plus I made a breakfast casserole to day to try out on Dh as I have to make something for Tuesday for the brunch at work for office staff. LOL

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Phyllis, Phyllis.. dear, dear Phyllis, can you please give me the recipe to Candied Fruit Slices? I'd love to do that for Kel.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Candied Fruit Slices

1 C. Powdered Sugar
1 C. Oleo (also known as margarine)
1 Egg
2 1/4 C. All Purpose flour
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 C. chopped Nuts
1 C. cut-up Candied green cherries
1 C. cut-up Candied red cherries

Mix sugar, oleo and egg well.
Min in remaining ingredients and chill fo r 1 hour.
Divide into halves and shape each half into a roll about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
Wrap in wax paper and chill at least 4 hours. ( I put the rolls in the freezer for a couple hours as ti is a soft dough and sticky to slice)
Heat oven to 325
cut rolls into 1/8-1/4 inch slices.
Place about 1 inch apart on Ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake until set about 13-15 min. or until light brown on edges.
remove from cookie sheet.
About 6 dozen

All the cookie recipes are ones my grandmother made when I was a kid so it's a tradition to me to make them every year even if I have no kids here and am not really in the spirit *S*

ENJOY

Hello everyone. I know. Your going to ask what in the world are you doing up this early, or late? Well, I just have this huge cramp going up and down the outside of my left thigh, and I can't tell if it is coming from my hip going down to the outside of my knee, or visa versa, but it hurts, and I have been walking it off for about 30 minutes now, and it is not letting up. I have a heating pad on it, and it seems to be relaxing a bit, but it just throbs!

Phyllis those cookies and candies all sound very nice. You need to post them on our recipe thread if you would please?

Well, I am going back to bed. I think this cramp is going to quit! I hope?

Susan, please keep posting here. We will do our best to keep you cheered up. I lost my Mom about 2 &1/2 years ago, and there are days, I just sit and cry, because I miss her dearly, (espcially the holidays) but then all is ok for awhile! it is getting easier, and we just have to take it one day at a time.

LK

Edited for all my bad typo's. Guess I need to go back to bed.

Good night

So, guess who isn't coming into work again??? Hmmm-while I sit here with Laryngitis, and an ear infection waiting to go to the Dr at 3pm...

Well, what I am sending Sage isn't pencils, but hopefully she will like it:) I thought of her when I saw the new JK Rowling book out....

OK Auntie M-I got Abbi something Tinkerbell and Catie something Disney Princess...hopefully they will like them-just little things, but thought they might like them-they may think they are dumb-I dunno:)

I think when I quit my job will be when I start using the new purse-while I add some light back into my life, I will carry a "light & airy" purse:)

Woohoo Ohyllis-I will keep an eye out-they will probably just leave it on the front porch in the rain and it will be waiting for me when I get home:)

My fave all time Xmas movie is "How the Grinch stole Xmas"-I have loved that movie since I was real little-I also LOVEEEE National Lampoons Xmas Vacation:) I have grinch ornaments and a stocking and found some patterns on ebay for the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who & Max that are to be used for the woodworking:) Asked DH for them for Xmas:)

Oh well won't forget next month if it kills me...LOL Sorry for my ups and downs but I do get this way.... So please bear with me.....purty please?
I have a little running to do this morning then I have to vacume the rest of the house as the tumble weeds are taking over...LOL
