you keep busy with your beading then Bev??? What is nice about beading is probably it doesn't take up much room...

Let me try again..in the very bottom think it said Christmas greeting or such..then you click on that...let me go try...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Jeff just came in...wants to know if this is an office where real people do business or is it a glorified craft room away from home....lol

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Tell him both!!LOL

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Betty, yes I work from home, sounds like a great thing but I miss human interaction and also using the remote system is so slow for dowloading and uploading. I'm used to typing prettty fast but it is so frustrating when the connection gets dropped or the letters load slowly on the screen 5 minutes after you have finished typing the sentence!

I transpose a lot of letters too, so then I have to go back and erase a lot and correct the mistakes because spellcheck is a pin.

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

Terri thank you for the info. You don't know what this means to me if it works out. I have had my present glasses for at least 10 years. Now to get the eye appointment for a new prescription. I can actually handle more then that for a pair with my extra hours. Thank you again.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Ok, I had to double click the email to open it, then the link told me I don't have a file to open the pps? What is pps? How do I open it?

Linda, don't know why, I so wanted you to see it...hmmm

I've played it at least 10 times this morning...

Jeff downloaded when he arrived a photo taken from his camera at work before leaving today..ice rainbow..was sorry he didn't have a regular camera to capture the end of a rainbow that ended on his co-workers van...

Black van in middle row...he said the view was spectacular...

Making headway here, time for a break...finished all of Suzanne's remaining 7 santa's up to and including the beard/hair..now she can decorate them herself..

I brough 4 or 5 of my own to do, doubt I'll get more than 1 or 2 done as we'll take our lunch break at 2:30 - go to the famous $$$ store..I need xmas table clothes for Sunday...then only 1 1/2 hrs. left to the day..always tomorrow...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I plan to go to my Mom's in Arcadia sometime after Christmas. Need to check with you on your schedule.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Going to look up the Florida map and see how far...

OMG you know all the tests I went through because of severe swelling..well it's been at least 2 months that I've been fine...today we decided to go to Wendy's.. had baked potato/sour crean and cheese/pat of butter and 3 chicken strips, coke and no ice for my lunch...now I would say our office is about 1 mile and by the time I got here, I almost have to drop my slacks because of the severe swelling...it so very odd..we used to go often to Wendy's..must be something I've been eating, can't think of anything else...abdominal pain like crazy...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, please be careful. Sometimes they put so many different chemicals and preservative in the food. You can be tested to see what your allergic to. I would find some benadryl or something to take.
LK

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty just let me know the dates you are planning to come south and how long you will be down. We can go from there.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Marion will do...just waiting for info from mom re insurance coverage for her...

1/2 hr. left to this workday if you can call it a work day...was going shopping after work now I'm trying to figure out how you can shop when your pants are open and you can't tie them...lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Wear a long shirt?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Except I'm at the office and dressed..lol girls found a big elastic band, we put it around the button into the buttonhole and hope it stays...so creative we are...

Cleaned up my craft mess...all done except for 2 santa's..will finish them off tomorrow..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Betty that definately sounds like an allergic reaction to whatever they use. I wouldn't be eating at Wendy's anymore. That's a neat picture of the rainbow. I read everything and now I can't remember what I was going to post from this morning. I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty,

Have you, or your Dr.'s looked into an intolerance to gluten? Sounds like you might have this condition.....If you do--you would have to eliminate all kinds of foods that have any kind of grain in it.
There are even cookbooks out now on Gluten free recipes. Seems to be more common than we know....

G.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Betty, I used rubber bands for a long time when I was pregnant and they worked so why should they work for you. LOL I think that is called repurposing of rubber bands.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita thanks yes I am really THIS TIME stop eating at Wendy's and mark down everything...I've done so well for the past while then this...this too shall pass..have you started you santa? lol..next year's project???? Is it slowing down for you..sure hope so though I imagine your hours will be extended temporarily due to Christmas rush...

Wasn't feeling up to shopping....did I say that??? Went to drop Suzanne off to meet her daughter..did a quick stop into Michaels as I was picking up a wreath for Rita for the project she finished last night...had a 15% off any sale item, printed a coupon off for Suzanne so she bought the 3 christmas trees for her lawn and me, well I had the 3' and the 4' so why not the 6'...had all kinds of plans and list of 'to do's' but couldn't do it...made an extra stop for buttons for Mrs. Santa's dress and some black elastic for santa's boots then home...

Just listened to my messages and Suzanne called twice to check up on me, said I really didn't look good..she's right, so no bath, no supper and off to bed I go..

Marion amen to elastics...

Now to find something comfy to wear tomorrow that stretches..in the summer I had all those outfits I got while in Florida, nothing tooooo stretchy winter wise...

Good Lord willing we'll talk tomorrow

night / night

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Betty,

Nothing is slowing down for me! I have FIVE Christmas get-togethers to go to in 2 weeks!
Spent all day today baking my Latvian "Pirags". Had more meat diced up and ran out of dough. Will start from scratch again tomorrow. THAT was not in the plans!

This coming Sunday (7-11PM) is our annual HD Christmas Party at a Hall. Food will be catered. I am bringing Aina and Mark as my guests. Try to include them--if I can....

On the 19th, is out Christmas Party for the "Front End" at the HD. (Service Desk, Phone Center, and others that work in Customer Service). We all bring dishes to share and exchange gifts. I am not working that day, but will spend most of the day there anyways.

On the 20th, I will be going to a Party someone is holding from my Group I belong to. Have to bring another dish! It starts at 6PM--and I don't get out of work until 6PM. A bit of a crunch....Will be late--which means I have to bring a desert.....

On the morning of the 24th--I head out to NJ (3 hrs. drive) to spend Christmas with my sister's extended family----4 married daughters, their husbands and 11 grandchildren. I will stay overnight and, "maybe" head back on the 25th--unless I am off on the 26th (don't know yet...)--then I might stay another night.

On the 27th, I and Aina and Mark all head down to VA for our "Cousins" Christmas get-together. Another slew of people and kids....Bringing my "Pirags" (it is expected that I do) and we also do the Chinese Auction gift exchange ($15).

PHEWWWW! Nothing planned yet for the New Year! I may just rest and go to bed early!

I still work 3 days a week (about 18-20 hrs.) and there is NO, NADA extending of anyone's hours!!!! This is crunch time--and no one is allowed any overtime. Many times, they are asking for volunteers to cut their hours. It is all b/c of the economy......
Jan. and feb. will be the totally dead months! I am lucky if I will get 12 hrs. a week!

So--as you can see, my days are pretty hectic at this time of year.

NO! I have not started on my Santa. The kit sits by my feet right next to me at the computer. Sorry! I WILL make it--but it might be after the Holidays. Yes! maybe for next year. I WILL also post a picture when i do. Just cannot get to it, and I had not planned on receiving it. I am enjoying seeing everyone else's.

Cold and puring rain tonight and all day.......Yesterday was in the low 60's. Go figure! Possible snow by Sunday! We are all used to these fluctuations here by now.....

OK! Bed time for me! Be well......

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Oh my goodness Gita and you say I'm busy..you have to be glad for no dieting when you are attending that many festivities..hope the weather stays clear for all your travelling...

Santa can wait, you've enough on your plate...

As you can see by the time (even earlier than posted) I'm up..have been up off and on fighting nausea..wouldn't you know...will go in search of stretchy clothing..

Originally Suzanne and I had planned to leave here at 6:30am in order to go to the city .. greenhouses and discounted roses/flowers is open at 7:30 in the morning..was going to get all the flowers I need for my arrangements..but lordy I'm feeling yukky...so we'll have to see...

Forgot to mention last night I helped a 'lady in distress' ...when I filled the car at the Sunoco station and went in to pay a woman in front of me gave her points and Shell card to pay for her gas..she had filled her truck...

The attendant brought to her attention she was in the wrong gas station and needed their card or cash...she stood (and the lineup was long) going through her purse trying to find $$$ to pay...she was $10.00 short when all was said and done, kept saying 'this is so embarassing' so I handed her the $10.00....didn't say I wanted it sent back to me but she kept pleading for my address so she could give it back...so I gave her my office address, will be interesting to see if she drops in..lol..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Betty-It really doesn't sound like a gluten allergy, but an allergy all the same-you need to call your Dr, make an appt and tell him what you ate and how your body reacted-you can also go on Wendy's website and print off ingredients for the items you ate...I think it is an item they put in maybe the chicken batter or something....it could even be something in their containers that is getting on the food...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Betty hope you are feeling better today..
That was so kind of you to give the lady ten dollars..I'll bet it brought you pleasure...and pleasure to the others in line to see the gesture.

Gita..so many family and friends get-togethers..sounds very festive.
Good time of year for special foods that make memories.

Pacifica, CA

morning all,

betty hope you feel better soon, that was nice of you to give the money,
oh lol forgot to mention i have been getting lots of material for the sleigh material..

vicki im behaving this morning so you can enjoy your coffee lol

hello to all others, off today so i have to go into san francisco to pick up some foccacia bread so dh is getting on me to get ready be back later.

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

I vote for an allergy to the chicken too!

I can't eat at Boston market because the 'flavor enhancers" they put in their chicken cause an allergic reaction involving internal combustion, LOL!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Thanks for the well wishes..feeling a little better now that I've taken something for the nausea and also stomach pressure..so back in line...

Suzanne didn't call re going to city to pick up my flowers..guess she forgot..am working on the apron for mrs. santa..thought I'd have just enough time to embroider a Christmas design..the cd's for them are mega expensive, over $100.00 and where is it, hell if I know..been tearing the upstairs sewing area apart, in the storage trays and still no go..few more places to look so best get going..I WANT this project done and gone...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Found it, in the knitting tower drawers...now if one would learn to put everything back into it's 'home' time wouldn't be wasted hunting...only 20 minutes left so no sense starting because if the program ends it's a problem finding same embroidery location so will be patient and finish tonight..but did get the apron done...

Now to decide which design to put on the corner of the bottom right of the apron..which is your choice...

first the apron...very matronly..but then isn't Mrs. Santa suppose to be so...

Choice of designs

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

I like the Poinsettia and also the Christmas ball beneath it, very hard to decide! All the designs are so very cheerful!

The only machine I have that comes close to embroidering is a 30 year old Kenmore with pattern cams so I am not familiar with machine embroidery. Can you have the machine resize the patterns or do you have to go with the size that is on the chart ytou are showing?

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

At my daughter's...
isn't it wonderul that we can jump in and chat from anywhere.

Apron is perfect..lovely..just as it should be for Mrs. Santa.

As for the design..I like the poinsetta too ....would blend beautiully with the red velvet..but then I also like the Christmas tree with gifts under it..Hmmmm???

My friend who I worked with for 35 years at the Holiday Inn, was always Mrs. Santa for the children's Christmas party. She has her own costume. Even though she has been retired or two years they still call her and ask her to be Mrs. Santa...their party is this Sunday.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nice ride in, snow just started but not sure that they are calling for any significant amount of snow...it's Friday..not many days till my christmas
lol lots to do and I'm sure it will all get done in it's own time..

Called Zehr's (big grocery chain) to see if they had sliced/diced turnip, nope only closer to Christmas...I can do a lot of things however I find I don't have the strength in my hands that I used to and doing a turnip is mega work for me....will have to go in search of a few tiny ones so that the outer skin isn't as thick for me to cut... nor do they have the bread for dressing with all the spices in it..said perhaps another week...too late for me!

Brought in Mrs. santa.. some hand sewing I can do, need something to pass the day .. 1st day we work a full Friday since I've started - 9-5..can't see it..perhaps Paul will change it when he's back from holidays..let's hope...

Terri, yes there are some of the disks that I can choose from s-m-l..as I've never used this disk I'm not quite sure..think the poinsettia is the one as well..have to go in search of dimensions...

Carol , bet your friend loves every minute of playing Mrs. Claus...Suzanne is trying to talk Lenny (DH) into both of them dressing tomorrow night for company dinner..he's not quite sure..not that he's shy but not really his thing..that's why I am trying so hard to get the costume done..his is, hers perhaps by tonight... will be interesting to see who wins out....

So what do you all have planned today....

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

My boss left work on my desk last night for me to do, no instructions but I think I know what he wants, so I'm going to get to work on that, then I have some Month End packets to do, hopefully there won't be any mishaps on those and I can just put the totals in the computer and file away. Then I don't know what, maybe get into some trouble LOL!

I wrapped the body of the Santa in batting last night and put the hands together! Woo Hoo!!! This is why I hesitated doing it, because if I have more than one project going at one time I can't focus on either one. We're having a Christmas party on the 20th and I need to clean house, plus shop for my mom, step-dad, dad, and his girlfriend Stress I don't know what to send any of them! Gift cards from walmart sound like a wonderful idea!

You ladies are busy busy busy! Gita that is a lot of partying going on! I'll be right up! LOL

Glenview, IL

Good morning!!

Awww, Betty...I sure hope you are feeling better today. Yikes, it does sound as if you are allergic to something.
hmmm...maybe milk products. LOL, I am thinkinking the pointsetta as well for your Mrs Apron. pretty decals.

Oh goodness Gita, you are the busy party bee!! You enjoy all.

Ves, I am so happy you are getting your eyes checked and new glasses, lol...you'll be amazed at all your not seeing.

Hey everyone...Today is my girls birthday!! Julia is 19 woohoo.
The only thing special she is doing is visiting Grandma at the mall. LOL which means she will eat at her favorite resturaunt. Panda Express. We will have cake later tonight. I am even going to make it myself!

Yesterday i was quite busy making dinner. I decided on Chicen pie...Kind of like shepards pie. Oh my gosh, the kids devoured it!! LOL, must admit, it was delicious. Also, I've always wanted to make cornbread so made that too, and the chili dip for our gathering.

Alissa was my desingnated driver. LOL, we got a tiny bit lost. almost 2 hours to get to the house, mostly because of traffic, then we only went about a mile out of way had to turn around. hahah, we did stop for directrions too, good thing.

We a had a wonderful time at the gathering. I did get lots of compliments because i actually dressed nice and wore my hair down.
It's funny because everyone is so used to me sporting jeans and a t shirt and hair in a pony tale...I even wore makeup!! My kids were also quite suprised. Jacob was funny he come home from school and says hello, sees me and says Well, Hello again! They asked me what everyone said so I told them they all thought I was looked really nice, how come I was so dressed up? We all giggled when i said I am not working! We had a a real nice visit and it seems everyone is ok.

Wowah...Another cold day in the city!
This is from the other day at the Hancock...view from 65th flloor unit.
Steve is almost finished with the renovations.
