Happy to hear about the new puppy. I'm glad to hear that they have found out the problems for Anjl's son. Pray that he gets better soon and you can get your surgery out of the way before Feb. or March. It's a long time to wait when you are in pain.

Dreary day here and looks like rain which we need.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

TY Karen.. that's nice..love the pic

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

YIPPIE KAY AIY YAY!! My doc called this am.... I just did my pre-op and my surgery is scheduled for next monday!!! :oD big smiles here! bestchristmas prezzie I ever got! and since im not working and wont be able to move much after the surgery....welll that means I dont have to go christmas shopping this year eaither !!! (I hate shopping!)

Doc is also going to take out my appendix...says I dont need it and no reason to take a chance. He will keep ovaries, unless the cancer has spread to them already.

so I am truly the happiest girl in the whole USA today!!

I am trying to get son on perm disability. I have power of atty, but cant cash his checks :( and he needs an id card to apply for disability. went to dmv to have them reissue the one he lost...and they need new pix, told them he is in the hospital and may not get out for a long time...etc...no go!
we are at a standstill right now on the disability. but we already started the application process, so keep your fingers crossed!

Anjl, got home tonight and found the neatest present, I am not putting it up after Christmas. I just love it. You are sooo creative....Love it....what a nice thing to have to open after a rotten 12 hours at work.....Thank you soo much. Sorry for you all who haven't gotten your yet....Love your walkway that is really nice....and the icing on the cake is figuring out what is wrong with your son....that is the biggest battle is getting the diagnosis correct.

Well, now we are on a new thread I can't look back. I will have to go by memory so let me apologize first! Cause I don't have a memory.

Ohhhh Karen we wouldn't appreciate perfection.....we want you to be one of us....LOL I am so excited waiting for the ornaments....yeah!

Ok, so after freezing yesterday to get a hole in the ice of the water garden, today it is down right balmy out there....go figure....but waiting for the snow.....to follow tonight

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

well, we watched the news tonight, and they said we may get a few snow flurries tuesday, but then back to warmer weather Wed. Oh well, it is that time of year i guess?

Mornign sleepy heads!

Karen, cute pic and just what need for the holiday spirit!

Got coffee made but it going quick, out the door in a few for a roudn of finals. Sorry ya all have to have granola bars this morning, but there is apple or strawberry filled ones. Panic has already set in so that not gonan be a good thing.

At least it in the 40's out and we got several days of rain coming. My poor brugies are gonna get waterlogged. The poor outside plants are really confused. They grow up, they freeze, they go dowm, it gets warm they grow up . fell like that old cartoon with the little duck that plays on the elevator all day presing the buttons saying , elevator go up.. elevator go down...

memory.. whata a memory.. I think I used to have one, but if I did, I placed it somewhere and done forgot where I put it. I don't have one of them either, so we both good. : )

Anjil.. That good news for both you and your son and hope they get it all in one swift take. Will keep ya both especially in prayer.

Have a happy day everybody!!!!!!

Good morning you HBA's! :) Wow, #40! Happy Christmastime! Love that Santa, Karen! Debra..thank you all for worrying about me, but you don't need to, I'm doing good...I just get busy on 3 or 8 home projects at a time and don't get to visit DG like I used to... I'm feeling the magic of the season! lol After a "balmy" day yesterday (like Joyce said)... all day and into the night 53 degrees.. I woke up to a wintery wonderland.. almost blizzard like weather-snow and howling winds out of the north.. it really puts me in the holiday spirit. I hope everyone, even JB - (I think of her as the Christmas "Queen") gets to enjoy the season. I need to tend to downstairs plants today, they are getting a little neglect with all the holiday bustle. hmm humm hmm hmms.. city sidewalks, busy sidewalks..... I'm excited about the ornaments and wonder if I'll get out into the weather this afternoon to the PO?? Enjoy!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

here is what I am working on. I made a family of reindeer, Mother, father, daughter and son. Now I am working on the clothes and faces for them. Here is what I have so far.
LK

What are you all working on?

Thumbnail by taters55
(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello all! LK those reindeer are adorable! I'm not making anything this year, but I usually do. You should make and sell those!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

LOL. There is a lot of work that goes into them, and very they are very time consuming, so if I made them to sell, it would be pretty pricey. One dress has 2 yards of fabric! and a lot of lace. I had fun making them, but just time consuming... They are for my Granddaughter for Christmas.
LK

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Have to agree. Those reindeer are precious!!!! I been sneakign over on the Santa workshop threads and watchign all them being made. Man I wish I was talented. I can't even sew a button on without it fallign back off. And that cross stitch. oh my. I probably the only person who can take a small piece of cross stich and turn it into a mass of knots . LOL

We got rain comign tonight and bad rain storms coming tommorrow and thundertorms, so wil have to be off puter if it bad, so if I mis sya all for coffee in the morning, am wishign ya all a good day!

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

It thunderstormed here this morning but cleared off to about 72...now tonight they say 34 and snow and sleet...sheesh.........

Edited to add: I forgot to tell ya'll I decided on a name for my new baby, it's Lexi! I had told Bonnie earlier I thought about Macy, but decided later it's Lexi for sure. It suits her too! Sassy pants, she is, full of beans! It's getting colder and colder here tonight...Had Frito Pie for dinner and settling down for a night of folding clothes and watching old Christmas shows I have on DVD.

Hello everyone, Have been quite busy and have missed posting here. I'm so sorry for all the sickness of my dear DG friends, and do have you in my prayers. Aunt B, so glad you are doing well and keeping busy. So sorry you lost your job, just wish you had beat them to the punch.
AND...Anjl, Sure do love the gift you sent me. Great job, and no one but you could have used a bottle cap and have it turn out just right. I too will not put mine away after Christmas. This one is a keeper.
Linda, do like your new family. Pretty work.
Karen, I'm so happy for you on your new baby. I'm sure Lexi will be one lucky baby.
Love to all, Faye

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

Hi Faye, good to see you!
Karen: love that name!
everyone, you guys rock!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

to all my bruggie friends :o)

I wont be able to post on the puter during the hospital stay, they say 3-5 days if no complications.
I started a prayer thread and my sis said she will update everyone on that thread as she hears news...so we can go back to just brugs here...instead of surgery talk! I didnt mean to hijack the thread here, I just dont post on DG much anymore thats all.

heres a link if you want http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/931346/

{{hugs to all}}
AnjL

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

AnnMarie, you did not hijack the thread. This thread is to talk about what ever comes up, and if that happens to be your surgery, then that is what we talk about. We all care for each other here like family, and we all get concerned about you haveing surgery, and Bonnie loosing her job, and Karen getting a new puppy to replace the one she lost!

So chat away ladies, we are all listening.

Linda

Good Afternoon, I am taking a day off. It is raining off and on and warm. Three days ago we were freezing with temps in the teens....today it is over 60. No wonder people get sick. I am going to wrap presents today.
I am in mourning. Those beautiful varigated brugs I had both died. It was my fault, I was busy and did not water them and they got very dry. When I saw them they also had spider webs and bugs of some sort on them. I went balistic because they are in the house with all my favorite plants...no other plant in the house had a bug on them. Explain that one.
The big brug I brought in (the one I can not remember what you call an angel that is not one) anyhow, that lost all its leaves again and now looks like it did when I first brought it in. I am wondering if I should be trying to raise these babies. I do not think we are doing too well.
Hope you are all feeling well and enjoying the pre Christmas Crazy Days. Talk later. JB

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Dear JB, you had spider mites, small webs you can see little dots (mites) in the web. It is the dry air they crave in our homes in winter time. I'm glad it is raining if that is what offered you a break to have some holiday fun.. (wrapping is fun to me)... Just stay patient with your wintering brugs.. the big one is probably okay.. just offer it some water, they really do have a strong will to live. I'd probably still try saving the cuttings.. wash all webs under the faucet, spray with alcohol/water/reg dish soap...offer some water and wait..I use Bayer 2 in 1 or 3 in 1 insecticide for mites, lasts 3 months, least I think that is what helps....I'm sorry bout your losses, I've been there before (didn't check on them yesterday so I might be there now).. I do have a variegated Maya I could possibly send cuttings of in Spring, please remind me.
ANJL- Got my package! How crafty you are and adorable your ornament is, just perfect! It is hanging on my tree. (((AnjL))) I just love it! And my dear, you are NOT hijacking the thread, your surgery is a big deal cause it's happening to you... and we are concerned about you. Thanks for the prayer link so we can keep up with you and look forward to your posts when you are home and feeling better.
It's sunny and cold here today, windchill of 17 earlier.. with a couple of inches of snow, it's so pretty and not enough to keep me a shut in, so I best get busy here.. plants.. first..

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Is someone going to post a picture of the bottlecap ornaments. We would love to see them?
LK

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

LOL Have to wait until everyone has received gift.....

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

JB how do you heat your house??
Makes a big difference...I heat with wood so my air is dryer and when my brugs are in for the winter
Their naked most of the time....
But once we stop heating in the Spring boy do the fill out...
I think they usually lose their leaves when they go dormant too...
watering them once a month.... I think that's what they said..
If you want them to grow all winter I think misting the plants everyday might help...

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well...
We had snow and ice yesterday and it was so much fun.....NOT, course that is the night I have a "beauty" appointment. Left work at 4:30 to go about 10 miles got there are 6:11!!!! Got out of there around 7:30 but all the nuts were already in the ditch so the trip 35 miles was very uneventful...hate the drivers the first snow of the year.

Well, the holidays are getting really close, and I am really behind.

Brugs in the house are doing good, but ee's and brugs are just one giant party for spider mites in the garden room. I have resorted to spraying and everything is doing much better. I too lost lots of leaves from not watering, but the brugs have always bounced back. Just wait and you may not of lost them.

Can't wait to get the ornaments! Love my first one I got.

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello all. I have had a long day, BITTER cold temps down around 30 all day and supposed to be in the 20's tonight. Light sleet and snow flurries. I was out in the weather all day buying groceries for Christmas baking and candy making, plus the big meal, and spent over $300.00. That will be it for us, no gifts this year. I would never dream of making this public but I hope you will all pray for me. The house I live in I inherited from Mom in April and she owed almost 7 years in back taxes, which I've been nickle and diming trying to pay a little as we could. It is over $7000.00 with penalties and interest and we have bad credit so we can't get a loan to pay them off. We got a foreclosure notice in the mail today, and I am just sick over trying to figure something out. Basically they let her slide due to her age and health, but when the title was transferred to me in April they wanted it all right now. My mom owned this house for 50 years and it is my life, my home, and my heart. On top of that, I am running fever and have the crud in my chest and nose and tonight can hardly get out of bed.

I'll be okay chickies, something will work out. I just wanted you all to know that I may be scarce for a day or two as I work on getting rid of this "flu" and the tax issue. What a horrible time of year to deal with all this. Plus, My dear daddy died on Christmas Eve, 1984, so that is usually on my mind too. I know I have you all behind me here, and that comforts me so much. I just wanted to let you know why I may not be on much this week until I'm feeling better. Love you all, HUGS! Karen

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Dearest Karen, My prayers are with you. I'm so sorry for all the problems you are having, especially here at Christmas. Keep the Faith....Give all your concerns to God and don't take them back. Love you and praying the very best for you.
Faye

(Pegi) Norwalk, CA(Zone 10b)

So sorry to hear of your problems, Karen. As long as you are trying to pay they should take that into consideration. I worry about things like that. We are living on social security and still have a big mortgage and just lost about $200 of our income each month. Sometimes letting go is hard to do, but I know I can't fix this on my own, I need His help. Praying your better things ahead for you.
Pegi

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Karen, you ive in Texas so you need to go to the place where you pay your taxes, and tell them you want to file for a homesteading. That means if the house is in your name, no matter if you pay the taxes or not, they can not take the house from you. You can have more than one house in your name, but you have to be living in the one you want to file homesteading on. This is what Todd and I did a few years ago.

Prayers and big (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) for you.
Linda Kay

Hello BA's

ANJL!!! I got your ornament a couple days ago (tells you how busy I've been with decorations) It is ADORABLE!!! OMG, you are so creative. I love it, even Todd and Christopher were really impressed, especially after I told them you "made" it yourself. Gotta find a good place for it on my tree and then I will post a pic.

Hoping everyone is having a wonderful day!!

~melissa

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hi all. I still feel horrible, will spend the day in bed. Thanks LK, I did want ya'll to know I called the Tax office and I can file a Homestead on the first of January.....The foreclosure notice was a scare tactic letter send by the atttorney's office that's trying to collect the money. They told me to have a great Christmas and just file Homestead on January 1 and try to make little payments in January....Thanks for the encouragement. Love you all....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh Karen, so glad you can do the paperwork, and then save your house!!! That has to be a relief for you?
Get a hot tottie, and some sleep, then you will feel better.

Take care

LK

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Here's some donuts and pastries to go with Ella's coffee.. mm good coffee too, Ella! So sorry you are sick Karen, I've had some kind of crud for a few days and it just won't shake... I'm trying to take it easy, but I'm really not one for laying around. So glad you called about the homesteading.. YAY! I'll try the hot tottie cure tonight IF I run to the market today.. I've been doing a little holiday food shopping for about a month, cereal, sugar etc... got a turkey around thanksgiving I'll bake.. I am buying a small useful gift or two for each "child" and filling stockings. I'll get 2 more pay checks before Christmas and I'll file for unemployment in the next few days..Christmas will be meager this year, but I've had leaner, still full of love and warmth and fun. I'll take some pics of decorations in my house and post them sometime.. sun is shining brightly, will surely melt all the snow today.. Joyce, we just had snow here, Drew said you guys got ice along with the snow.. what an evening you had out in it. I've seen a few mites on my plants... shower them with neem, but it is sticky for spraying in your living areas. I wanted to tell Louise her Pete's Blue hibiscus pumped out another big ol bloom yesterday.. so welcome with all the cold and dreary we've had.. enjoy the day everyone.
