Hello to all - What fun reading. Betty, you are beyond words. If you could bottle and sell whatever it is that gives you energy, you would be a multi-billionaire. I bet the cranberries did give a pretty color to the cake. Interesting that it didn't change the taste that much.

Abbisgranma, so good to have you post. I have seen your name around from time to time but can't remember ever being on a thread with you. Welcome and please continue to share.

Carol, the fireplace is lovely from the cover to all the gorgeous brick work in the hearth. I called John over to look at the picture. We both loved the round hearth. He was a mason many years back before it became too hard on his back to continue. He is building me an exceptional walkway in our front yard though. He is pretty much side lined until spring when he can get back to working on it. Pictures will be coming at that time. ha-ha

Betty, the office sounds wonderful. Tell Paul that I might consider going back in to the working world if he has another opening available. ha-ha Gosh, sounds like he is doing right by you all. You could have much, much worse bosses, of which I am sure that you are aware. Good idea about giving the computer to the neighbors if they don't have one.

Gita, the angels that you sent to Betty are so, so cute. You ladies with all this talent are really quite special. Keep up the good work.

Judy, another talented woman in our midst. Really cute apron and if you hadn't pointed out tha the frill was upside down, most would never notice. Fine craftsmanship all around though. You secret Santa will love it.

So, it is the weekend. I am hoping to put up my tree either today or tomorrow. After that is up, I will begin wrapping gifts and sitting under the tree. I love the joy that Christmas decorations bring. I especially love looking at a lit tree during the night time or very early morning when it is still dark. So cool.

So, have a good day everyone. I will check in later on today if I don't get too side tracked.

Ruby

I loved all the stories andn pictures!!!

Betty-Mom will move within the next couple years I think-she is getting to the point where she really doesn't want to work anymore and she wants to live closer to us all. She is worried about trying to sell a house in this market, so I think right now that is the big holding back part....

Judy-I love that apron-it is soooo cute!!!

Morning all, believe it or not, just got in from town, boys got up early so decided to make an early start..they actually are both outside starting a fire in the pit to burn all the cardboard/wood etc. gives them something to do, besides I think Noah was so pleased I bought him the jacket he wanted that he's trying to make up for the cost..lol...

Sailor got to go to the vets, she gave me another name of 'real people' medicine that she says does wonders so when I'm in town today I'll pick some up..she got her nails done and some grooming..wasn't fond of the nail bit though..

Have everything for meat pies..trying to see what I will schedule in first...know that Mike will be delivering the snowblower this aft. so thought I might run to Barrie..

Painting girls are surprised that I don't have a special christmas gift purchased from their gift certificate, want to see what I bought so might drop in there, try to avoid it..lol..one never knows what I'll come home with beyond the my christmas voucher...

OMG have any of you tried that steam broom? does wonders..now that's for me, no knealing to do the floor, no swifter..within a sec where you've cleaned is completely dry..love it...

Yes girls, love my decorations Gita sent..so pretty on the tree..will take a closer shot after I've had coffee...

Ruby still waiting for another AA+++ recipe..you know I'm not much of a cook/baker but oh that's a success..thought I'd make a couple more today along with meatpies just so I can give a few away...as for my energy level Ruby, it must be something in my family we are ALL the same, my boys are the same as well...put us in a room and it's absolutely comical to see us trying to sit and relax...none can..when I was a teen I remember my mom working 2 full time jobs..when I was first married I worked for General Electric and a part time job...when I had the kids I worked for American Express as MGR. and when I would finish my shift I'd go work a full shift at Kodak..lunch hour to save money I'd bring the boys from Jr.' Sr' kindergarden in one municipality to another in my work area....then when I moved up north I worked a full time job - long hours and 7 day schedule at times although not FULL schedules and drove a bus..they asked me to do it when one of the drivers passed on, said it would be a matter of weeks and I put in 11 years...kept a family going, activities and home so you can see that old habits die hard...one day my kids say, I'll just stop..

Stacey, everyone is worrying about the economy, your side and my side of the border..for sure it's not a good time to sell but most likely a good time to buy sooo one would have to weight the pro's and con's of the final outcome..let's hope it's soon... are you working today?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Carol, nice dusting of snow..I would say my snowbank in yard has to be 5' already..plowman came this morning just to give it the once over...

Bev sounds as though your schedule is busy as well..lots of work involved in keeping inventory and facts re gardens..love the photo...

Judy, OMG you've done a terrific job on the apron...now that you won't be going into work how will you give it to her???

Someone is here, best be off

Morning all! Sunny but cool here today. A light dusting of snow would be fun but not likely down here. Sad!!! Have seen the heavier snow the year I lived in Canada so only a dusting please.

Hi Ruby, sure am glad I finally got a copy of the applesauce cake. It sounds fantastic!!!! Hopefully will get to make one this weekend. Busy today and tonight I babysit my granddaughters---tough job but someone has to do it. LOL

Bev, I hello. You are the one who stole my cat from the brugs thread? Right? LOL again. Finally found a picture of mine but a very young picture.

Greetings to everyone else. Tink are you baking me some cookies too?

Yep yep! They could be related. There are a lot of these Tabby cats arround here. Powder was found up a tree no even weaned so I did it. I am her Mommy and she will tell you so. She doesn't want anyone else holding her. SPOILED!!! LOL BEV

Ours was found at a shelter. Someone had tried to poison her and my late husband saw her, feel in love with her and the rest is history!! Spoiled for sure. We found out later she has a large amount of Egyptian Mau in her but not 100%, thus the funny ears and odd ball coloring for the eyes.

Love your Powder!! Shucks love cats. What can I say?

Good morning Judy! Congrats on the Apron. ,it is really beautiful!! After dragging out the sewing machine to work on Victorian Santa’s I keep thinking I might try sewing some other project one of these days. Still just thinking about it for no….I really need some more projects!!!

Ruby I probably should have asked first, but the Applesauce cake was so wonderful I posted the recipe on Sweet Interruptions for the Holidays. We have been posting a lot of our Favorite recipes there so we can find them without having to go searching back through our threads.

You should drop in to the regular Sweet Interruptions Thread and chat with us….Marion and I would love to have you drop in….it is a really wonderful group.

Carol the fireplace looks great!!

Gita the Angels are wonderful…I know Betty must love them!

Betty will you post your meat pie recipe on SI for the Holidays? Please!?!?!?

A good Morning/Afternoon to everyone…..granddaughter under foot and still working on Santas!!!!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

I will soon be 65 and haven't had a kitten since age 7 so she is really a treat for me.

Awww, what a cutie!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Kitties are just sooo adorable...
Ruby giving the cake I put in the freezer to Darlene and Mike when they get here..

In the midst of doing the pies and will post recipe..OMG I wa soooo C O L D! Imagine me 5', 3 to 4 feet snow, covered and sides of road where the plow goes by, ditches full of water and me cutting greenery for flower arrangements..can't even tell you how many times I was above the knee thinking is the water/mud soaked me up I'd not get out and would have to just stay there on the back roads until a car passed by..luckily I'm home..truck full of different greenery..NO I'll not start it today unless the meat pies are done and the santa suit..

Went in search of a large buckle for santa only thing I could find was a belt pre-made and OMG it was $29.99 but I've but this much effort into it so bought the belt and white gloves..forgot to pick up his bells..will do that Monday..this is a money eating project I'll tell you..Santa and the Mrs. will be well dressed...

Then to Michaels, well wouldn't you know they were discounting 3' and a 4' round tubular shaped xmas trees for outside for $19.99 so they came home with me...

Did go to the Garden Center..must go back..bought the most beautiful angel, her wings go back and forth as does her head, she'd about 2 1/2 feet, would stand on the floor, hold a light but one wing doesn't work so back she goes..yuk..did like her..she's the only one...

Best go upstairs and put the pork and hamburger into the onions and cook...Darlene and Mike will be here shortly with snowblower and Mike, he likes me to know everything about whatever I'm getting, so might take some time...
Told him to bring it tomorrow but he said no, we're expecting mega snow tonight...
Talk in a bit

Sounds like you are keeping busy as usual. Picked Sage up last night and met her mother at the Hands On Children's Museum. It was Holly's birthday so Laura and I figured it would be nice if mum and daughter could spend a little time together....they are not allowed unsupervised visits....they have some tables and chairs in front for weary parents so I took Santa Robes to hand stitch while they played and looked at displays....and bought an entire bag of assorted Polished Rocks.... To quote Sage, she is a "rock Addict"....I'd much rather she have Rocks than the candy she usually gets from mum! They had a good time!

Now I am back to work on Santa's....a bright red, and a deep blue in the larger size, and I am doing one of the small ones in the green Christmas tree fabric....As soon as I get Sage delivered home, and Orion delivered to Laura's I will get out in the shop and get the body armatures all put together so I can hopefully finish up a couple after Church tonight.

I love the Santa's and am rapidly becoming a Fabric Addict!! I am always seeing something that "would be perfect for a Santa"!!!!! I am still seaching for a Mrs. Santa face....I have several ideas for making a Mrs. if I find the face.

What am I chopped liver?? I like peeps to drop into SI too:( JK-we are having the prettiest light snow here today-not a ton of accumulation, just a real fine pretty snow......

Bev-that kitten is adorable!!! How fun-when we got our cat we got her at about 7 weeks-but her mom had been killed and she was in a shelter that was NOT a no kill shelter-my boss saw her and her sis and took them both-I ended up with Jade and my other boss ended up with her sis. I took her home from work as a surprise for DH and I had to stop at the store to get food, litter and a box-literally ran into and through the store-back in my car in under 5mins-when I got home I couldn't find her-SHE WAS IN THE DASH!!!!! So I opened one of the cans of soft food and left it in the car on the arm rest and went out about 5mins later and there she was eating away-brought her inside and my pug thought she was a toy!!LOL SHe tried to play with her and Jade hunched her back and hissed and scared the crap outta Ruby-then she id in the corner for the next day and a half until she felt comfortable to explore-she has been my girl ever since:)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Stacey, it is so cute when the kittens scare the dog. Our first two cats were scared to death of the pup, had never seen such a creature....then we got Heli, the little feral cat....Porter growled at Her.....instead of running she reared up on her back paws...all 8 inches of her at the time.....took a few swipes at Porters nose and calmly turned her back and walked away.....The dog didn't know how to react to that......wasn't suppose to work that way!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fairy, not understanding??? """"What am I chopped liver?? I like peeps to drop into SI too"""" sometimes I'm dense...you ought to be visiting me today, omg their is a blizzard going on out there..used the snowblower..my goodness they take a lot of energy...will have to go out again if it keeps this up..

OMG Trisha, you'll have those 12 done + the other one in transit completed before Christmas eve if you keep this up...you'll have to show us...this threads could do with more Christmas color in the room...lol

Ruby, as I started an addict with Trisha re the santa's..you've done same with your cake..started a batch while I'm making the pies and didn't have nuts..little store next door doesn't have everything but does have odds/ends for cooking..so there was a bag of mixed nuts and fruit..you'd so laugh, here I am on the breadboard with the hammer smashing the nuts..shaking my head here..added cranberries again because I so enjoyed them..hey I even learnt to 'grease' my pan this time...

So as the snow falls, I'm cozy inside, can hear the christmas music playing outside, lights flashing, people driving by and looking at it all..won't put the other 2 trees together till tomorrow when the storm breaks, at least let's hope it breaks...

Back upstairs before I burn everything..lol..

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

You guys if the Glucosamine stops helping, then there are pills, anti-inflamatories, that are called Rimadell, I believe that help a lot. They can tweek the amount and all to make it more affordable and eventually you may be able to back off or give them every few days or less.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I am sooo sorry Stacey I did not mean to exclude you......you have to remember dear that I have trouble remembering my own name half the time.....often I cannot remember what was said by whom a few posts earlier.......and I type slow....by the time I get a few sentences done, can't remember half of what I intended to say.........Forgive????? Please?:(
