Just a quick good night Betty, sleep well, all of the Santa faces are in perfect condition!
Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends Pt72
Now I think Trisha how much work 12 santa's are going to be for you..
Again early morning..my body clock is so used to getting up at 4:45am that I'm unable to sleep in..making matters worse up at 4:00 this morning..would have made a trip to Walmart but snowing heavily..just finishing my coffee, changing all the table cloths in the craft room, tidying up before I start cutting santa jacket and still have to go do the snow...the good thing is, I don't have to drive to the city..oh happy days...
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Laura, just missed you sweetie...if you are up, come and gab with me..I've just got all the snow done, can't stay in these p.j.'s - all wet with snow..guess we got about 8" last night..light snow not difficult to do..
What is your weather like today? Can you get any gardening done? You posted a photo last year of the most gorgeous plant shrubs all flowered, are they open now?

hello vicki, carol jeannine bev and everyone else ok getting behind so off to work
later
Happy Tuesday All - Just wishing everyone a good day.
Ruby
Question...don't you think I should also get a 'paycheck' from Santa's workshop? Seems I've been working just as hard as his elves to make sure everyone enjoys their Christmas...
Don't know, but think I should...
Put new table cloths on the table, cleaned part of the craft room and within the hour it's a total disaster...
Snow has stopped, that's a good thing...
Liz, you should have had me send you more faces..might have been easier...
Ruby, you must have a busy schedule ahead of you..zip on/zip off..do enjoy your day..what kind of weather ar eyou having?
There's no way I'd try to paint those Santa faces, they'd be all squiggley lol! Actually, with the right brushes it's probably not that hard.
I'm so glad you don't have to drive into the city Betty, but dang I'm envoius of you getting to stay home. We got word yesterday that the Governor is giving us Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the day after Christmas off. Now we just have to find a way to talk him into giving us January 2nd, Hangover Day, off LOL!
With y'all talking about smoking, I have to share with you how I quit. My sister got hurt severely in an industrial accident, and was in a coma for 9 days, i was driving about 300 miles round trip every weekend to see her, and was trying to quit smoking, because I thought it was that that was keeping her from getting well. I had cut down from 3 packs of Bel-Air 100's to half a pack of Now shorts, but I couldn't put them down. I was in my car in the church parking lot one night smoking one last ciggie before church. I said "Lore, You're gonna have to help me, I can't do this by myself."
That was the last one I ever smoked. Feb. 1, 1983. Never wanted another one! EVERYTHING smelled like smoke! My car, the bank where I worked, my clothes, and my house! That's the only thing I've ever put in ANYONE'S hands!
Betty, you’d have to ask mom to be sure, but the way I understand it, you’d make you your large dough ball (several loafs) and leave it in there to rise, then break it into loaves when you took it out. The whole interior is one space. I use it to store my cloth and the like.
When we started doing leather bags we tried a bunch of sewing machines and the Treadle Sewing Machine was the best. I love how it’s so easy to control the speed. I very rarely need more than straight stitch and I can usually do anything else by hand.
You did a fantastic job Liz..now you can go into the Santa business...yours will just be a little chubbier..nope..don't change anything you are doing..excellent...you get an A+
Crissy you get an A+ as well for effort in trying to get hangover day, day after New Years which is a Friday isn't it..do you not have a floating sick day or holiday you could take that 1 day..never understand why companies have staff come in when it falls like that..what use is anyone anyway after celebrating...fingers crossed for you...
Put drops in my ear, filled them with batting, out to rid the snow again..boy is it coming down..real winter day here..yes Crissy I can only thank the Lord (well maybe Paul too) that I don't have to go out in it..but now if it were to stop at 4:45pm might go get a couple more things done in town..lol..
Betty, try putting alcahol in your ear. It helped mine!
Laura, these new machines are wonderful..mine embroiders and I've many discs..some even unopen like the Christmas cd..thought while doing Mrs.Claus I'd do some on her apron..so unless you are truly going to use it a lot, not worth the money...
They wouldn't leave the bread to rise and keep it there for any length of time would they...perhaps it was to let it rise draft free for better results..it's quite large isn't it..nice piece to have..
I have and I'm not even sure of what it was called...it it a little square cabinet and the door on the bottom opens and inside is a metal container..apparently when there was no heat in the bedrooms one would take the coals from the fireplace/stove and fill the bin up and it would give heat to the room...will take a photo later...
Phone ringing a lot again today..don't they know I'm busy working in the craft room...lol...guess I should earn my keep...
Audrey, did you get your parcel yet...Trisha got hers yesterday and yours and Twyla's gift were sent at same time...so watch for the postie...
Are you tired from all that travelling..when did you finally get home?
Betty, I wouldn't mind the embroidery machine, but I can do it by hand, takes a lot longer though, but being able to control the speed by manually turning a wheel I think is worth a bit of hand sewing. Especially when working with leather.
When it was used for bread it was a long time ago, 18th-19th century.
Wished for your energy yesterday, Betty. I brought all of the Christmas containers up from the basement to decorate and it took me all day!. Somehow I just wasn't into it this year. Don't mean I felt "blue" or down, just couldn't get into the swing. Decided I am going to have the girls (DD & 3DDIL's) come to the house this sumer and go through my Christmas stuff for a family garage sale. I have too much stuff and really don't want to take the time or energy to decorate that much. I'll keep some favorites and that will make decorating easier and even leave a little room for a few (very few) additions. Same with all the Halloween and fall stuff, too. Maybe I will enjoy it more if I decorate less.
I would love to concentrate of making more of the gifts that I give. More time hunting for little things during the year to give and not just at Christmas. You know the kind: when someone says, "Boy, I wish I had a...; or " If I only had a little more money I would buy....; or "Wouldn't it be wonderful if I could....." Then I could step in and say "Merry Christmas!" Wouldn't that be fun?
Wow, it would be perfect for rising bread, a cool, dark place. Well, I'm going to go get something to eat. See ya'll in a bit.
How wonderful that sounds Janice...I do that from time to time and it's always much appreciated..only thing I can say about getting rid of most of your decorations is at some point you'll decide how lovely it would be to decorate and no go, no more decorations..when Roger died which was in the Christmas season, my home was so decorated, over 50 boxes and big boxes at that full of wonderful pieces..after he passed I lost my love for decoration for quite some time..gave my things to DIL's and friends...now I love to decorate and remember all those beautiful things..particularly at big sleigh about 4' long by 3' high out of wicker and the deers to match - on the modern side...inside the sleigh was the most beautiful floral arrangement in pink with glass bulbs throughout and holders for candles...think about 20 years ago when I was in Memphis I might have paid around $300.00 for it..now when I visit Melanie's and see it I want to take it home..lol at least I can visit my things... so don't rush into anything, it can be costly..just starting to add to my new collection these past years..
Audrey, we must at somepoint cross-posted .. didn't see your post until now..good Lord must have had a hand in helping you quit as well..I've never smoked but I'm sure it's one of the hardest things to do..
Crissy how is your day going? busy, all those accounts reconciled?
Snow has stopped..going crazy with this ear..isn't it painful when you get a full blown earache..to make matters worse when I'm on the telephone half the time I have to ask for them to repeat it...I explain the earache and old age and they chuckle and repeat....
Didn't have to cook myself lunch..everyone left the leftovers for me..waiting for Kyle, their lunch starts at 1:00 and I'm sure he'll come here as school is only 5 minutes away..he'll not like cold meats and salads so will send him to the pizza place just down the street..he'll like that..he misses grandma being home..he always came for lunch..
Santa jacket only needs collar and fur..then comes making the books and belt..will be done when my day is done...then onto the Mrs.
Oh, I wont give it ALL away. Just enough so I can breath.
How about decorating this tree with me?
http://kimhunter.ca/animations/christmas_card.htm
Have a great day, all!.
Hey, where did everyone go??
I'm here...waving a sad hello! I am so pouting because I am sick now too.
I've a runny nose, a sore throat and i am just exhausted...I am at the office wich is the pits...maybe I'll take a tiny nap sitting up, lol.
Janice that was such a nice little card. had fun decorating it.
Liz, wow, your santas came out really great.
Hi Wonder!!
Trisha great pieces.
Crissy, hows your day going.
Well...OH just had a chat with sister!! She is doing ok. Trying to handle somethings and making plans for Schooling in January...That is great news...Thank you all for the prayers.
LOL, Betty, i think the DH's are glad we are not closer. Nothing would get done, or actually they would be suprised how much WOULD get done.
Man, my head is throbbing so 'll see you later.
Hope you are having a good day all.
oh yeah, santa suit is looking good too.
Judy, you look after yourself..should be home in bed, chicken noodle soup...if it's not busy can't you leave early...
A client just called of course I had to ask him to repeat it 3 times so explained I had a bad earache and can't hear well, said he's got an appt. next week as well, he's never had an earache and has had one for months..sending him to a specialist..so told him to let me know OUR results..lol
Another client who owns a big restaurant in Barrie called, when I said next week on Monday we'll be in Barrie he said to call him early in the a.m. with what we like to eat and he'll have lunch catered and sent over to us as a welcome to the area...Reza is such a lovely man...
Looking outside, snowing again, but not a blizzard..was thinking about 4:30 I'd start the car, let it warm up, mega snow and ice on it, then head to town for a quick few things...
Thanks Judy, still working on santa..can't have Christmas without Santa..he's starting to come out ok..more work than I remembered..and still Mrs. Santa to go..
Funny, Suzanne dropped in to get my GPS for Danielle (her daughter) as she and her husband had to go to the city and they don't know the city that well ..while she was here I said you know Suzanne, it would have been a lot less trouble to go out and buy you and Lenny gifts rather than making these outfits..she just laughed, said she appreciated all the work..let's just hope they fit...
Our internet went kapoot here at work today so I've been out of pocket, and it's time for me to go home now, so I'll see you all this evening.
Betty,
I just DON'T understand you! ???
You have been complaining about your ear hurting for about 500 Posts now.
SO? Why have you not gone to a Dr. to see what is really going on? Can't make the time? .... Afraid?....Too busy? ...Living in self-denial?.....HUH?
What if a few antibiotic pills could just end all this pain? Why not go and find out what to do?
I hope you DO know that the inner ear is directly connected to your brain. Let an infection go too far, and?????????
I know I sound unsympathetic--but when something goes wrong--you just have to take hold of that situation and go find out what's what! Isn't that what we all spend hundreds and hundreds of $$$ for in our Health Insurance?
You did the same thing with your tummy hurting...still areAre you?
You have a death wish or something?
OK! No one jump down my throat for saying this to Betty, OK? I know you all feel the same way!
We all love you, Betty, but you must also live up to that reputation and take care of yourself. Living ONLY for the pleasure of others, and ignoring your own health, is NOT going to get you anywhere.....nor is it going to make you more famous or give you any extra longevity. You ARE the "captain" of your own ship!
You know I care about you--NOW! Show me, and all the others, that you care about yourself!!!!
Gita
Just got back from town, few more people shopping at 6pm than at 6am so will have to continue my early morning trek..haven't stopped all day so my thoughts are to get myself comfy in bed, watch t.v. / look at a few magazines, of course they'll be craft one...
I can hear the music system that is connected to all my lights from in here, best turn it down just a tad..bought more lights for the 3 trees the boys bought me for Mothers' Day..here I'm looking for metal ones to put out for light and all I had to do is look at the front of the house and decorage all of them..
Should get Greg who is 6'2" to try and put some on the maple tree branches..know I'd get a lecture..oh well wouldn't be the first time...drove on a few streets tonight to look at the lights..so very pretty with soft fallen snow..
Judy my santa who welcomes guests looks so pretty sitting outside covered with snow, best get yours out/want to see..lol...
Managed to pick up 3 gifts for Jeff..he's almost done...his envelope still has $75.00 in it..once I pick up his 2 pkgs. of guitar strings the envelope will almost be empty...
I found I was so much more organized this year with putting money in envelopes for each..I've spent same on everyone..
Couldn't find a telephone upstairs and here next to the computer are all 3 hand sets.. best put them back where they belong..
Lordy I love this working from home..sad it will be over with on Monday..nice while it lasted...give me the what for if I complain about the drive to Barrie...don't let me get away with it...
Best be off...
night/night everyone....
Gita, lol, NOBODY will give you heck..they all know you have my health interest at heart...
you must have missed the post where I did go to the Doctors and he did give me antibiotics..infact I've still about 4 pills to take and I AM taking them..yes I am..he told me that once I finish the prescription (which I refilled one more time) then go back and see my own doctor which I will..in the meantime it hurts like the dickens..
My tummy, I've been really good of late..laying off a lot of the bread/milk type foods and it does seem to help..think in the last month or so I've only swelled where I was extremely uncomfortable maybe twice..not much more than that...
Gita, can't do much more damage to this brain of mine....might actually help somewhat..just kidding you...
Parcel arrived at the post office...no return address kept looking at it and the postmistress saw I was looking where it came from..Belfast /Ireland..girlfriend Liz spoiling me..it's still in the car..I'll open it in the morning..it will be my treat of the day...I'm much too spoilt..
Thanks for being the spokesperson Gita...love you all..
And just for you, I've one of those bags you know you put in the micro to heat up and if you've sore bones or aches it helps..well going right now to warm it up and lay my ear on it..
See..doing what I'm told!!!!
LOL Betty, I was wondering how those pills were doing, you haven't mentioned taking them, plus the pain hasn't seemed to let up any, and now I have sympathy ear, I can hear my pulse in my left ear, not like a thump, thump, but like the sound your hair makes when you move some with your fingers. This started about 7 years ago with a buzz and very bad itching. I q-tipped the dickens out of it then went to the dr, ended up getting 2 different opinions too. They all said I had the cleanest ears in CA (lol!) and didn't see any reason for this to be happening. It has always itched since then but not as bad, but the buzz went away about 1 to 2 years later. Now, when it's completely silent, I can hear my pulse, which started about 2 months ago. Weird.
And Thank You Gita!
Wow Crissy, that's different isn't it...was your balance off?
Think tomorrow if I make it to town I'll pick up earmuffs...with being outside in windy/blizzard like conditions it doesn't help..
closing the lights...tired tonight..
Good Lord willing, we'll gab tomorrow
No, not at all. I wasn't dizzy or anything. It is weird.
Have a great nights sleep and we'll chat tomorrow ^_^
I remember when I was a teenager that I started having this extremely loud roaring in my ear. It almost drove me crazy for over two weeks. Then I went to the doctor to get it checked out, and believe it or not, as the doctor came out and called me back, the roaring stopped while I was on my way to his office. Talk about funny timing. So I got back to his office and told him that the roaring had just stopped on the walk back to his office. Anyway, that was the end of the roaring in my ear. I never found out what caused it but at least it finally went away.
I remember when I was a little child that I spent so many Sunday afternoons at the ER because of my ears. All I remember was getting shots. I am not sure if that was for pain or if it was some sort of antibiotics. But I remember going to the ER a lot on the weekends because of my ears. Looking back on it now, it probably had something to do with all of my abuse but I do not know that for sure.
I will continue to pray for you Betty and hopefully your earaches will go away soon.
Jesse
I just wanted to share this with all of you since it is a big part of my life. I have told you all before about me having back problems but I never explained what is wrong with my back. So I thought I would post that here if you all don't mind. Since I am still new to this forum, I'm not exactly sure what is okay to post here and what is not. So if this is not the place for it, just tell me and I will not post anything like this here again.
Years ago when I worked for an insurance company, I worked in the mail room. We sent out tons of mail everyday. It was my job to collect the various pieces of mail everyday, sort it into hundreds of boxes, and then stuff it in envelopes. Well, we did not have anywhere to sit except on the floor. And so I sat on that floor everyday for over 2 years. And what it did was ruin my tail-bone by wearing away the discs in between my vertebrae. So that is one of the problems. And then in my lower back I have what they call back or spinal stenosis. In patients with spinal stenosis, the nerves in the spinal cord become compressed, either within the spinal cord, or as the spinal nerves exit the spinal cord. And this leads to extreme pain, numbness or weakness. Back a few years ago, I was in a wheelchair. I could not walk very far at all before the pain would become so intense that I could not stand it. At the time, we did not live far from the mall at all. But I would try to walk to the mall and the pain would hit me so bad that I would have to lay flat on my back to make it stop. And the bad thing about this was that the only place to do that was in the middle of the parking lot. So I was forced to be in a wheelchair for quite a while. And my doctor put me on every single pain med that there is. She even put me on Methadone. But the problem was that they did not work very well plus they made me so sick on my stomach. Well, she finally decided to put me on the Fentanyl pain patch. So I started using that and I was finally able to give up my wheelchair. And man was I happy about that. I hated being in a wheelchair and I hope and pray that I never have to go back to using one again. But I still have to be careful with my back and I still can't walk a very long way before the pain hits again. So as long as I do not walk for a long distance, I do okay. But this is still very frustrating to me because I would love to be able to walk to Walmart. But that is 2 and a half miles from my apartment and there is no way that I can walk that far. So that is what is wrong with my back. And even though it is a hard thing to deal with, I am very thankful that someone invented the Fentanyl pain patch. Even in a situation like this, where there is pain and suffering, I can still find something to be thankful for. The patch has made my life so different. When asked by one doctor how the patch affected my life, this is what I told him, "Without the patch I only exist, but with the patch I get to live". So I am very thankful to whoever invented that pain patch. "In everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." - 1 Thessalonians 5:18
~Big Hugs~

After watching my sister this past month Jesse, I so understand, her life has virtually come to a standstill..talking to her yesterday she said she had to have someone come in to do the decks and drive...OMG her home is built way back edge of property, she does have all the equipment to do it herself but can no longer...
Thank God for some of today's meds Jesse...my girlfriend Darlene whom you will hear me talk of a lot on this thread was in a vehicle one New Years Eve and a snowmobiler hit her car going over 100K (snowmobile was) young lad had major issues, young lady on the snowmobile had a broken neck but with almost 6 months in hospital is now ok but I would imagine as years pass she'll be bothered much as you...anyway Darlene lives with extreme pain..she's on morphine patches, she even gets botox injected in her back..always working on her...she tries so hard to do thing and just can't..my house and Midland are about the furthest she'll go on any given day and that less than 20 miles, if longer than she pays for it..oh and the girl that was on the snowmachine, it was her God-daughter ...
Well girls it's snowing here again, just going out to clear the snow..Carol are you getting any of what we are..think you are just outside the snowbelt line???
See that Santa still needs his suit so best get at it..
Morning all,
No snow here Betty..just a little dusting yesterday morning when I got up. The Santa suit looks so rich..love the deep red velvet.
I spent yesterday waiting for the plumber to come with a new water holding pressurized tank. NO show..no call..maybe he didn't get the tank..sure hope he comes today..old one is leaking.
I started wrapping some gifts yesterday..
Jesse..so glad you got some relief with the back pain. My Son in law has terrible back pain. ..They just gave him an MRI to see what is causing it. I wrote the name of your patch down and will see if it is available here in Canada.
Seems so many people have trouble with their backs..
Ruby..I took a quarter section of the applesauce cake out of the freezer last night for a snack..still yummy...
Have a good day..
Cheers,
Carol
Just checking in real quick. Need to be off soon and get a massage. I haven't had one since September, so it is about time, I think. ha-ha
Betty, if you only have four antibiotics left and the ear is still hurting, you might need another one to see if it will knock out whatever is going on with the ear. Usually by this time, the infection would have cleared up more and not be hurting as much. Get it checked on please.
I hope that everyone will have a great day.
Ruby
Well I'm just soooo enjoying this being at home..if it were longer than 1 week I think I'd most likely decide to retire..
Have you ever had the most perfect time, just playing, puttering, making things beautiful and enjoying..well that's my day so far..I've kept the present from Ireland in the car and will open when Kyle and Noah come for lunch..
Out in my p.j.'s on the front lawn, last night I bought more lights and when I went to look for more extension cords in the back shed found a box with more lights...had also forgotten that Aunt Muriel bought me boxes of snowflakes you stick in the ground so managed to put lights on the 3 little trees, another set where I had missed on the little pine tree, stuck 5snowflakes randomly near the tree and can't wait for tonight to see how pretty..
Then I came in and decided I should start making some greenery decorations, can't get to Toronto to flower distributor till Sat. but in the meantime I had cranberries that I got from the marsh, went out and cut some pine and other greenery from the trees..so laughing if I keep this up by the time I'm gone and someone purchases the lot there will be no greenery left on the trees...
Anyway, this is a cheap but effective way to create something for your table....just water, greenery, cranberries and a few floating candles...so pretty..
It probably will last at least a week looking fresh, but the cost is zilch ..unless I light the candles which I've done this morning it would only be a couple dollars to redo...
So I'll share a pretty picute...
I'm into everything except what I should be doing..time to settle in..
Carol, don't you just hate it when you wait in all day and they don't show up, least he could do is call and say it isn't in stock as yet..is the leak bad? wouldn't you know just before Christmas..major appliances and necessary things like hot water heaters go..can you still rent from hydro or gas company..sometimes thats the best then it's up to them to fix..I have a rental but only because when I purchased the house they told me I had to continue the rental..oh well, I've had them here twice and didn't have to pay so guess it's a pay now or pay later deal...
Carol, now you've made me hungry, at lunch I'm going to run out to post office/grocery store/hardware store all in about 15 minutes..lol..will pick up eggs and applesauce and bake another..my 2nd loaf didn't stay in the freezer very long..as I've just opened a 5lb. bag of cranberries think I could add some of those?
Do you all wrap most of your gifts or purchase the pretty bags..I would say I'm 1/2 - 1/2...wrapped what I purchased last night..tomorrow night I'll go out to Midland and pick up 2 sets of guitar strings and cross another of my list..really just extra's from now on in..
Ruby, is your back giving you problems as well...look what you've started with your applesauce cake..we're all needing weight watchers..lol...any more recipe's to share?
Anyone else have a non-fail recipe?
Planning Friday to make the french 'tortierres' meat pies..can't have Christmas without them..best sit and make of list of what I need...imagine, me baking..
I truly can cook, am a good cook but JUST if I want to be or need to be..not my thing but when push comes to shove I'd impress you..lol
My admiration for you increases, Betty. We have had snow for the past three days; about 6-8 inches total. I don't have a garage and didn't put up my portable carport this year so I am scraping daily. While it looks beautiful on the trees, wet snow so it sticks, driving is not good. I know you have a LOT more snow than we do and don't now how you manage driving to work every day much less shopping.
Headed to Ohio this Friday to bake cookies so I hope we have clear roads.
Ruby, I didn't get the Applesauce Cake Recipe when you gave it so either give it again or point me to the original thread. Everyone ravesa bout it and I am getting hungry here!
Well Dave just told me that he doesn't get all the days off at Christmas that he thought he would so we're staying home Yay! I don't care if we stay home or go somewhere, staying home just means less money spent.
We don't get hardly any snow down here but we do get ice and freezing rains. Where I'm from it hasn't snowed since 1976 so I get all excited when it snows, and from now on I'm not driving in ice, nope nope nope way too dangerous!
The whole name of the patch is Fentanyl Duragesic Pain patch and it is 80 times stronger than morphine. So for anyone taking morphine, Fentanyl is much much stronger. It sure has made a big impact on my life and I am very thankful that I have it. Now I just have to find a doctor here to write me a script so that I can get it again when I run out. Plus I need one to write scripts for all of my other meds too. So I will continue to call around and see what I can find.
I'm not trying to copy what Lady just said, but I have to say that you guys are such an inspiration to me, especially you Betty. Most people that I know would never go out shopping with it snowing like it does where you live. You all just come and go like there is nothing to stop you. And I'm so impressed by all of the things that you get accomplished. It almost takes an army to get me going to do just about anything and I'm totally amazed by all of the things you do. Being here with you all on this thread is really good for me. I look so forward to coming here everyday just to see what you have done next. And you are all so upbeat and positive, even when things go wrong and man does that help me so much. So thanks so much for inviting me to this thread and allowing me to be a part of your group. You are all a wonderful group of people.
Jesse
