Daily Pics Vol. 158
Beautiful pics Rose,knip and Gp!
We have been getting cold weather and it's given the birds an appetite. I go out in the morning and afternoon and scatter several handfuls of seed on the front driveway.By the time I get back inside and to a window there will be a dozen Steller's , 3 Scrub Jays, 6 Spotted Towhees and several Dark-eyed Juncos munching out on the seed. The Calif. Quail are slower to show up. It takes them about 45 seconds to get there. The other birds give the Quail a wide berth. ( Had to take this pic from a distance and through a window. It only shows a small part of the birds that are chowing down.
Nice photos Knip. The Robin shots is wonderful. What type of camera did you get?
Nice pics of the Jay having a bath, GP. They really get stuck into it, don't they? Gorgeous Painted Buntings. I think America has got them by mistake and they really belong in Australia.
Wow, adelbertcat, that's some line-up. Are the Quail a bit aggressive?
Everybody's pics are so pretty. I have a few on the camera but probably nothing good.
I would just love to have some little quail in my driveway!!
oh those quail would be cute at your house Nanny!
MargaretK............I've never seen the Quail be aggressive, but the other birds give them a lot of respect for some reason.
The geese appear to be some form of a hybrid, only part Canada Geese.
Great pics guys!
YAY! They are back. I just love these birds so much.
Love to see the Waxwings again Gary. The Mountain Ash across the street was gobbled up by the Robins, so when they came there was none left. Had very little crabapples in my trees this year. I asked my sister for some, and put that in a makeshift feeder, no takers yet.
They ate from it last year, so still hoping to see them.
beautiful Gary!!
That's some flock of Waxwings, Gary. What beautiful birds.
Burn, that's a fabulous shot of the Woodpecker hanging under the feeder.
Nanny, remember that old adage about clean windows. Good capture on the hawk.
Beautiful shots of the Heron, Elphaba.
Knip, I hope you continue to get huge enjoyment out of your new camera. Now, look out! Poverty looms supreme.
From this afternoon, a female Rainbow Bee Eater. I've got only a short time to continue to take photos of birds anywhere but at the ocean or right on the river. It was only 30 degrees Celsius (90 F) today, but in the dry bush where these birds are, even though it was just over the road and up a bank from the river, it felt pretty warm and I was lurking in the shade waiting for the Bee eaters to alight on a branch.
