Nanny, very cool hawk pics! Your windows look very clean to me!
Gary, GORGEOUS waxwing photos. Those leaves and berries are just stunning with the waxwings. Unbelievable!
Margaret, I just LOVE your bee eater pics. Those birds are so beautiful and you are capturing them perfectly.

I took this through my window yesterday. My windows are not clean, but a mockingbird smacked into one yesterday anyway. He was OK. I was afraid the dogs made him fly away too soon but then he caught a butterfly in mid-air, so he was fine.

I believe this is an Orange-crowned Warbler. In fact, I think I can almost see the hidden orange crown even with the unfortunate shadow.

In this one, the half-dead pickerel rush is in the way. I'm still almost seeing that crown!

Last one. I did a ridiculous amount of cropping on this one. Hope it's not too blurry. Fingers crossed...

Quoting:
That's some flock of Waxwings, Gary.

Last Friday, a gray stormy day, I stopped to photograph Waxwings near the end of a runway. A 747 took off, and panicked the birds. This is a shot of a small part of the flock which took off, in all directions. I was surprised, because the birds which live near the airport, don't pay any attention to the noise of the planes taking off.

Nice ones Elphaba!

That's quite a flock Gary!

I just wanted to show everyone how my squirrels work on the branches where the feeders hang. I've had to move the large squirrel buster feeder twice since they widdled down the branch close to toothpick size.

they are eating the branch or the weight of the squirrel on the feeder? or??

Marlton, NJ

And guess what... Yes they do eat nyjer seed!!!. You can also see they've unscrewed the left side perch from this expensive feeder. I haven't been able to find it yet. You can also tell the right side one is loose which I tightened. They are such a pain.

Hi Mrs Ed, Their eating the branches that the feeders hang on in hopes that the feeder falls down.

Nanny, Here is my Sharp Shinned hawk that has been getting all my pretty birds for 3 years now. I am afraid to feed them. BEV

Aaaawh, the poor hawk has to eat to. I used to witness hawk attacks at my feeder all the time. That doesn't seem to happen anymore. The yard was more open then -- just grass and now it has lots of overgrown beds. I think the birds have more places to hide.

Pelle, what a lucky woodpecker to be getting such a gourmet nut! Beautiful pic.

PERTH, Australia

That's exactly what I was thinking. Pelle, your feed you birds Macadmia nuts??? Lucky them.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Margaret, you didn't give Pelle the tonight's winning lottery numbers already, did you???

Marlton, NJ

LOL, thats one of the nuts included in the mix I was showing before on the other thread.

Nice one Met!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

The shrub that the hawk ambushed is usually full of House Sparrows and House Finch for the most part soooo...like Elphaba said the hawk have to eat too. I don't get to stressed out over those type of things I guess.

Great photos everyone.

While standing at the same spot photographing Bald Eagles, I observed a Black Vulture "reunion" off in the distance. The Bald Eagles and vultures seem to live in harmony with each other.

Wow that's quite a sight! I wouldn't want to be the person that has to keep that area clean. :-)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

That's alotta vultures!

Here's a cardinal using the baffle as his dining area. He'd grab a seed, and hop on here.

and here is a female perched on a rock. I put this rock here to hold the screen down. The birds seem to love to hop up here.

Mrs. Ed...you still have snow on the ground! Most of ours melted yesterday but we may get more today!

I have been down at the river for the past two days stalking a Bald Eagle that roosts in a tree next to my friends house. I have gotten some good looks but if I try and get a picture it disappears...of course. In frustration yesterday I decided to stake out my favorite brush pile and that too was a no go...no birds seen or heard! As I was leaving the area and got out in the open I spotted two Red-tailed Hawks cruising the area. Here is one of them.

I'm beginning to think the Eagle is stalking me! LOL! I hope I can get some closer pics of this awesome beauty!

Thanks Mrs. Ed...I think raptors can be an addiction in itself!

Good day there Rose!

You could do worse than have an Eagle stalk you.

Does anyone know if the brown creepers would eat mealworms? too big??
