We have been getting cold weather and it's given the birds an appetite. I go out in the morning and afternoon and scatter several handfuls of seed on the front driveway.By the time I get back inside and to a window there will be a dozen Steller's , 3 Scrub Jays, 6 Spotted Towhees and several Dark-eyed Juncos munching out on the seed. The Calif. Quail are slower to show up. It takes them about 45 seconds to get there. The other birds give the Quail a wide berth. ( Had to take this pic from a distance and through a window. It only shows a small part of the birds that are chowing down.
