Ha..Mrs. Ed!!
Here is a link.http://audubon-omaha.org/bbbox/bbrp/mealworm.htm ..scroll down to the list that shows all the birds that will eat mealworms...looks like the Brown-creepers do!
I am sooo jealous of yours...I keep looking for one but have yet to get even a glimpse! I have been on the hunt though....LOL!
I have 20,000 mealworms coming today btw...I've already gone through that many recently and the cold weather hasn't even hit!!
Here's a window shot of the Goldfinches from a few days ago...such pigs and today they are competing with the Siskins! They do not play nice together!
Daily Pics Vol. 158
Well...that link didn't work...let's try again http://audubon-omaha.org/bbbox/bbrp/mealworm.htm !
Does anyone know if the brown creepers would eat mealworms? too big??
Probably too big (they normally eat very small insects), but you could try putting some in bark crevices on a tree to see if they are interested. Woodpeckers and nuthatches would certainly take them in that situation.

Nice Rose! The hawk and eagles shots are great!!!!!!!!!! I know for a fact that raptors are their own addiction. Otherwise, we wouldn't count how many we see each time we go out! LOL
Thanks Nanny...they sure get out attention!
My name is Rose and I love raptors...LOL!
OMG< that last one is so funny!
Thanks for the link rose, and thanks for the info Resin. I'd just like to get them a bit closer and to SLOW DOWN for a picture!
Rose, I don't think I would see a creeper if the tree weren't just 20' from the house! Tiny, fast and camouflaged!!
That's a cute one (house sparrow).
I'll bet you are going through alot of mealworms with Mockingbirds eating them.
A little Downy made that hole...I see birds fighting over it all the time!
Yes Pelle...I've already gone through 20,000 and have another 20,000 coming today. The Mockers only get what I feed outside the feeding cage so I can control how much they get. The real culprits are the White-crowned Sparrows. Last year they didn't touch them but this year they are pigging out on them. I also have the Bluebirds and Wrens that love them. I only used 10,000 last year.....I may have to go to plan "B" if this continues!!
Here is the female Bluebird looking down at the feeder cage.
She's beautiful! I love those WC Sparrows too;we don't have them here.
I haven't seen any Goldfinch for a while either.
New thread starting shortly . . . I'll edit in the link here as soon as it is up and running ...
