You got ahead of me.......from the previous room......

For his SO he would like any thing not too Spicy, she tends to like some of the Thai Dishes...she is a verrrrrrrrry picky eater...a long story. For himself, he is my kid, he will try anything once, loves to cook and doesn't mind things with a bit more spice.

I love to go out in the snow! I just like to go because I want to play in the snow, not because I Have to Be Somewhere or Do Something...driving in it is no fun here because nobody knows how and they drive badly enough in good weather!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I feel sorry for those having to live in snow states!! Like I say, I love to watch it from afar.. but I agree, wouldn't want to get out in it!! Once I was forced indoors for a couple of days, due to a terrible 'blizzard'. Might be mild to the folks in Crown Point, Indiana, but when it didn't stop snowing for hours.. that's terrible to me!!!

Trisha, I'll try to get some canned curry mixes from the Oriental grocery store for him. He wouldn't know what to look for, and I'll stick in a recipe as well.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

One of our favorite restaurants in town is an Indian restaurant. Didn't think I liked curry until I ate there.

Jaye, that's such a cute kitty!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

You don't need to go to that trouble Jaye. If you can give us a few recipes and an idea of what to look for we have several good Asian markets here in town where we shop frequently, and a really fabulous one in Seattle on the rare occasions we go up there.

As for the cold weather, the worst I remember was about 10-12 years ago we had a really heavy snow and ice storm. I have never seen it that cold here, Ice formed on the trees and it sounded like gunfire across the valley when the trees and limbs would break. The power was out for five days here....we lived out on the lake and ours was only out for 24 hours. I stayed by the fire!

Son in Laws working so I have to go and pick Laura up for dinner. Talk to You Later.

IF MY BODY WERE A CAR ...

If my body were a car, this is the time I would be
thinking about trading it in for a newer model. I've
got bumps and dents and scratches in my finish and
my paint job is getting a little dull ...
But that's not the worst of it.

My headlights are out of focus and it's especially
hard to see things up close.

My traction is not as graceful as it once was. I slip
and slide and skid and bump into things even in the
best of weather.

My whitewalls are stained with varicose veins.

It takes me hours to reach my maximum speed.
My fuel rate burns inefficiently.

But here's the worst of it --

Almost every time I sneeze, cough or sputter.....
either my radiator leaks or my exhaust backfires!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

That's a hoot Cindy!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Don't you love their naans, or flat breads, Debra? Kel love the 'poppadums' crisp spiced wafers, but he's always ordering Chicken Tikka. :( each time we head to an Indian restaurant. Fortunately there's one in Myrtle Beach.

Trisha, if you could get a small can of MaeSri or Mae Ploy yellow curry brand, that will be a good start to cooking mild Thai curry. You'd also need to get a can of coconut milk. NOT the water.. but the cream that has been squeezed from pulverized coconut meat.
This is off the top of my head..

Your meat.. 1 and a half pound chicken or seafood.
2-3 tbsp. MaeSri yellow curry paste
1 small onion, sliced thinly and browned in oil. Once browned remove from heat. Don't let the onions turn black or burned.

Cover bottom of saucepan with cooking oil. Once heated, stir fry your curry paste, move it around the pan, be careful not to burn it. Once aromatic, add your protein.
When the outside of the meat is cooked (if it's chicken) add the whole can of coconut milk. Add a tsp. of sugar and salt to taste. Bring it to a boil, then turn the heat to low, and simmer till the meat's cooked.
Serve curry on steamed rice and sprinkle browned onions on the dish.

This is very basic Thai curry. For variations, add sliced lime leaves, chopped cilantro or slice lemon grass (use about 2 inches from the root, with outer leaves removed). Red curry paste is much more spicy. Then you have the green curry paste too.

You can also add a can of bamboo shoots or some potatoes along with the chicken.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Going to the store to pick up some sugar free ice-cream. But here are a few jokes...

A lady gave an advertisement in the classifieds : "Husband Wanted". Next day she received a hundred letters. They all said the same thing : "You can have mine."

A little boy asked his father, "Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?" And the father replied, "I don't know son, I'm still paying."

Baker (to a lady customer) : Madam, shall I cut the cake into 6 or 12 pieces.
Lady : No, cut it into 4 pieces only. I am on dieting.

A woman was telling her friend, "It is I who made my husband a millionaire." "And what was he before you married him?" asked the friend. The woman replied, "A billionaire."

The best way to remember your wife's birthday is to forget it once.

How do most men define marriage? A very expensive way to get your laundry done free.

Man : "Where do you want to go for our Anniversary ?"
Wife : "Somewhere I have never been !"
Man : "How about the kitchen ?"

The girl asked her boy friend, "Darling, if we get engaged will you give me a ring ? "
"Sure, why not" replied her lover "What's your phone number ? "

And this very wise advise.
If you want your spouse to listen and pay strict attention to every word you say, talk in your sleep.

I truly am sorry I put so many into shock but every now and then I do run out of notions!! Funny thing, I wasn't even tempted to look at the fabric --have no idea why just hurried in got what I needed, checked out and came home. OOPs!! one more stop--had to have my Starbucks.

Son just got back into town from Thanksgiving down in Tampa. He stopped to have leftovers with us and of course, devoured our pumpkin pie!! Good thing Kim made an extra one knowing how he like pumpkin pie. It was rather nice just the 3 of us sitting down to dinner and chatting about past celebrations, laughing about some "Dadisums"and remembering. It has been a long time getting to this part.

We are still getting rain, heavy at times and then just light sprinkles but continuous. It is suppose to continue through tomorrow and into the evening. I can't believe how much the colors have changed just over night.

Well going to go work on a project--can't tell it is a surprise. Take care deat Sistahs!!

Jaye enjoy some ice cream for me please!!

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

ROFL Cindy and Jaye
who said they were keeping a file of all the recipes???? I"m gonna need a copy LOL

ok I better rephrase my snow comment...LOL....for here in Texas I prefer no snow other then the chance to go into town and watch how they drive from what I hear it is a sight to see and they hit the stores when there is even a chance of snow to stock up like it will be months before they are out of it.

I am not sorry we were not in Illinois last year to be in the over 40 inches of snow the northern part got.
I enjoy the snow to go out and play in ...snowmobiling, making a snow woman..hehehe snow angles and how pretty it looks in the sun rise of fresh fallen snow om the ground and in the trees.

Driving in it when the roads are not plowed properly or it is icy no thanks....when my daughter moved down to college station 5 years ago from Illinois we came down for Christmas with her ..we left my folks in Urbana Illinois and what was to take 18 hours took well over that with me driving 18 of the hours going about 30 miles an hour if we were lucky.
there were 36 vehicles in the ditches between Effingham IL and Little Rock AR and of course AR has maybe 1 snowplow for the highway between Memphis and Lil Rock ...LOL..That was the year they had snow in Southern Texas.
It's not funny but it cracks me up sorta that when it rains here it is like watching people up north learning how to drive in snow for the first time each winter ..some treat it like they are invincible and drive like speed demons and others drive so slow they both cause accidents. Of course I can handle it as I drive a school bus up there for 12 years but it still scares ya when ya have kids on the bus and people drive like nuts.

MORNING!!!!

Tante Jaye-LOVE that pic!!!

Cindy-ok-so we were there and I was looking at prices, but nothing hade size on the boxes:( Little ones about just the size of a votive (like maybe 2oz) were like $0.33-$0.62 and some of the larger ones were around $1.50-the same ones I have seen at the $$ store!!LOL I didn't see any 4oz ones really-there were several things that were cute that can be used for candle holders even if they weren't intended for them-the red ones I sent you weren't supposed to be candle holders...

We had fun yesterday-went to Libby-got some pressies, mom got me the cutest cookie jar-will have to take a pic to post later-he is part of my Xmas pressie-I LOVEEEEE him!!!

Then we went to HD where I got us a ladder (we didn't have one) 6ft for like $35-the oe I went in for a 5ft for $24 was gone, but this one was on clearance, so woohoo!!!

After that we went to a little place here called Jacob's Gardens and I got a couple more pressies (just about done now:) and found the coolest thing I need to show DH I want for Xmas-it was a snowman-about 18"-that looked like he had been carved out of wood and painted a little roughly, he had a birdhouse in one hand and was coddling a cardinal in the other. He was too $$ though-$37!! They were having 20% iff, but still:( I got a suroprise when I went into the heated GH to look at their displays-they had a KITTEN in there-a real live one named Emily-looks just like the pic in the top post!! So of course I played with her-HAD to-I picke her up and pet her too:) I really wanted to bring her home...

Came home had some left overs and crafted with mom-had FUN!!! The next time she comes down I want to take her to Craft2000 (a store I recently discovered with cool stuff and GREAT deals) and then just have crafty time all weekend!!

Don't remember what all I missed except welcome and HAPPY BDAY BRENDA!!!

and HAPPY BDAY AUDREY!!!!

sorry I am late:(

We had deviled eggs for thanksgiving, so you know it has NOT been pleasant around our house over the last couple days!!!LOL

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

nope they are in the incubator, once they are dried off I will move them to a box.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Do you sell eggs or do you just keep raising chichies?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

When I get these girls to start laying I will be selling the eggs. I have a few breeds i will be hatching out.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Morning my sistahs and nieces!
Kim, I'm glad you stopped by! Thank your for that beautiful bouquet, and I hope your Thanksgiving dinner was a great one!!
That's part of Thanksgiving, Maid M. Happy memories rehashed.
I filed all the recipes, Phyllis. I think Deborah does it too. At the end of the year, I'll print them out and make copies.
Sounds like you had fun, Stacey. Do tell your mum hi for us, and please let her know you're spoiled too by us :D
Thanks for the coffee Cindy. Think I'll stay away from it today, my tummy is not up to par.
Tina-Tia, I'm sorry I was late in dmailing you my Dirty Santa pressie. Question... do I have to come up with a trick present, or that real one will do?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

no trick one, that real one will do :)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning Ladies... what a wonderful day I had yesterday.
Woke Kati up around 10:30, fixed us some breakfast, then we got dressed and left for Canton. Stopped by her dad's house so she could change clothes, and my DIL decided to go with us. Youngest g'daughter has a job working at the flea market in one of the food booths, so she was already there. It was rainy, and we got a bit wet at times, and it was kinda cool, but we weren't miserable. We shopped till we dropped. I found the perfect piece of art to put on a blank wall in our bedroom, hand crafted, one of a kind celtic cross... will take a pic later when I get it hung up.
But, first thing when we first got there... Kati found a baby pot belly pig. She's been wanting one for a couple years now, and so, DIL bought it for her. Then we had to look for a baby pen to keep her in at night. We walked all over the grounds, and everyone wanted to stop and see the little bundle cuddled under her coat...
Then, when Kristi got off work, she joined us for some walking around and window shopping. I had the most wonderful time with them.

We got back to the house about 6pm, and had to feed the pig, then we watched her explore her new surroundings. Thier pit bull had to check her out, and we all thought that she would try to hurt the pig. BUT to our surprise, she tried to mother it. Was soooo gentle with it... it was way too cute to watch. I didn't leave there till around 9pm, and was way too exhausted to come here to chat when I got home... went straight to bed.
When I left there, Kati had 3 names picked out... Poppy, Dixie, and Tootie Patootie... Maybe today she'll pick one.

I forgot yesterday to say HAPPY B'DAY Audrey and Brenda.
Audrey, I hope your T'giving journey was fun and you get home safely.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Oooh BJ!! She'll have fun with that Vietnamese Pot Belly.. but they do grow bigger.. remind her that!! Isn't Tootie Patootie Stacey's nickname? Lol!!
Hurry and take a pic of that artwork will ya?
It's time for you to report happy times, Lord knows you've been miserable putting up with pains these weeks.

Kel and I love flea marketing. But I don't think I'll be able to do Canton, as I have problem walking now. Unless he pushes me around in a wheelchair :(

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

That would be me too Jaye, Do they make wheelchairs built for 2, LOL.

I haven't been to a flea market in a couple of years. I'm having a hard time getting around this morning. My left but tock (forest gump) has been hurting and I can't put any pressure on it to walk. I've been using a chair as a walker so I can get around.

GEEZ it sucks to get OLD!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

The guy she bought the pig from is the breeder... said the mama pig weighed 30#, and the daddy pig weighed 27#... so it sounds like it will be the size of a med sized dog... that's doable for a house pet. I've known of people house training and also training them to do tricks. They're very smart.

Canton has some of those motorized scooter things like that have a Walmart to rent... there's lots of people using them at the flea market... you can still do that.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone, thought Iposted here earlier, but guess I didn't.
Hope you are all ready for the nice week-end. Temp here today is like 65 already, so it will be real nice here. I am trying to get hubby to take me out to get our Christmas tree.
BJ, so glad to hear you had a great time with the family. Send us pictures when you can.
We can all just show up in our power chairs. That would be a hoot!!!
Everyone be good.
LK

Dolores, CO(Zone 5b)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

It will be raining all day today. Perfect day to be indoors, as the Santa game is on today.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

We'll be a sight at the flea market for sure... we should all have "DG Sistahood" tee shirts on too... can you imagine?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, you know if Sis Kathy's gonna be there, someone got to be carrying a pitcher of mimosa.. she'll be thirsty from all that walking :D

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Hello everyone

Didt get much of a chance to chat yesterday and today is full of chores too.. Went out browsing yesterday and saw the masses of people out shopping. I managed to get 1 present for each of us from the money my mom sent and even gotthem wrapped before the kids popped the bedroom door open...lol We still dont have the tree up but hopefully I can get Max to get it down before the day is out.. Then hopefully I can finish up on getting the decorating done inside as well as some lights out front with any luck.. I made 4 baby blankets yesterday to take to the flea market one weekend soon and make some extra money for the holidays..

We have a flea market just 3 blocks away and I love going to just walk around. May go check it out today just to get some outside time in. Its supposed to get to 78 degrees today and then the rain will be setting in for a day then the cold again on Monday.. Everyone is going to be sick at this rate if the weather doesnt make up its mind..

Did I hear a piggy found a new home? I love them they are so much fun.. We had one wander up a few months back in the driveway...lol We live smack dab in the middle of a busy side of town so it was surprising to me.. I found a rescue in georgia and they came down and picked it up the next day but we had fun with it while it was here..

Well I better get back to work for now.. Everyone have a great day..

Bear Huggs
Donna

smalltown, IL

Thanks Tater55 for the invite..
This weekend has been long and boring for me ..My family is all away now for the Holiday. So I am on my own..
Woke this morning thinking it was Sunday already, couldn't remember what day it even was.
Although I do look forward to tomoorow when my cousin and her DH and new baby will be coming by for a visit..

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I think my DIL and G'daughter has been deceived. That guy they bought that pig from told them that it would only get less than 35#... hmmm.... was just reading about pot bellied pigs, and there's no such thing. This cute cuddly tiny little thing is going to more like 90-150#... SHEESH.... and is going to be harder to take care of than any of them believe. I just called my son to alert him of all that, and he said it's going home with her to Arizona, so it's not his problem... again, SHEESH... her mom needs to be warned... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Getting busy now... got to get some laundry done since that's what I started the other day before I found out that Thanksgiving was being served at my house... what a whirlwind of events it has been in the last 3 days... I'm off to get something done today.

Later.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

What a wonderful way to start my day!! Reading of all the fun BJ had yesterday with DIL and granddaughter--such fun and a baby to boot. I was to happy to be reading that BJ.

Is there anymore coffee anyone? I really need another cup--weather overcast, drizzling and in the middle 70's. Heavier rain is due just about kickoff time today so it will be a wet soggy mess!! I am finding a nice comfy chair in front of the boob tube and watch from the shelter of our family room. Kim has made me promise is I watch there will be no throwing of objects!!! Kiljoy!!!

Phyllis you describe driving perfectly in rain or snow. While we were out yesterday even though where we were there wasn't much traffic, there was still people who drive like they were afraid to even push on the gas. I can run faster than they were driving and I can't run at all.

Yes, Jaye, memories are a part of Thanksgiving but it has taken us a long time to reach this point. Must confess I felt better than I have since his death after our time together and did sleep very well for a change. Oh did you laugh a lots!!!

Oh Linda Kay, I can see it now, our very own parade of sisters in motorized carts going 2 by 2 down the isles of the flea market. Yes, we need to have some really bright colored shirt to wear that say: Sistahs, All!! Or something like that. Hummm, if Kel will be there along with Mike and Don, they could just go ahead clearing a way for us. Right? LOL

Glad to see you back Brenda. Loved your advice about the floral arrangements. When I lived in Gainesville I took some floral design classes (not that it did any good) and the one I remember the most was: keep it simple, gather a bunch of stems, place in a pretty vase and let nature take it from there! Works every time. After all who can argue with Mother Nature?

Audrey, have you returned home yet? Check in!!

Kathy, are you still hovering over the babies? Or pacing with the gun? Let us know.

Debra, I should post a picture of our lovely centerpiece. Yours was so wonderful--the colors all so well blended!! Ours was a little different but so special. Humm, need to download so I can share.
