I think Stacey's on to something there. You really don't want to be in the same colors as the bridemaids, do you? Perhaps you should wear a coordinating color, even a pink champaign color or something like that.

I've not been arrested YET by the fashion police... but I just know that someday, they're going to come take me away.

OMG... too cute, Tia Tina the Chickie Momma....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Fern green is refreshing for a spring wedding. There are flowers with that color, like those Vanda orchids.
As long as y'all chose something that years from now, looking back at the pixs, everyone would still be saying.."Ain't that pretty?"
Here's a pic of a wedding cake, white and brown with green orchids on top...to give you an idea of color combo.

So, Tina-Tia, what does that make us? Chickie Aunties??
Oooh they are so adorable!! Have you named them yet?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey, Brenda, our resident florist.. what's your opinion on this??
Check in Brenda.. :D Debra need you!!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Chickies! Sooooo cute! Can't you just hear them peeping?

I agree - green would be a good option. I've already emailed Rhonda and that was one of the colors I suggested. Jaye, the cake DD has picked out is very similar to your photo. Did you help her choose it? LOL!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh Heavens no I have not named them, I have well over 300 I would be going nuts to name them all. I do have a few that have names tho.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

yes you all are chicky aunties.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Oh, that's easy ...... just name them One, Two, Three, Four, Five ........

I think the most striking mother-of-the-bride I've ever seen was my cousin when her daughter married about 4 years ago. She wore a chocolate chiffon skirt, with a celery green satin long sleeved collared blouse. The collar was turned up in the back, and "V'd" to the button at the breast. Then she wore a slightly beaded cumber bun at the waist. It was subtle and elegant.

When my niece married last year, my sister wore a very lacy (crochet like lace, fell very soft) that was beaded all over... was shades of brown from light to dark, and a bolero jacket in satin. Was over done, and stole the show away from the bride... IMHO... not what a m-o-t-b wants to do.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Yea I agree, When my oldest daughter got married 5 years ago, my grandmother over did it and it was just tacky. You do not want to over do the bride or the party. I like the suggestions of the green.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

I agree 100%, BJ! Mom should be subtle. I like the brown green combo you described. I'm very long waisted and usually have a hard time with shirts that tie at the waist or cumerbuns. Don't care for bolero style jackets either.

If I can find it, I could see myself in a strapless, simple, fitted dress with a straight hip length jacket over it. Solid colors with a pretty trim on the jacket. Hmmmmm ..... let me know if you see something along those lines!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Yep, Tina, we've probably all seen at least one family member steal the show. We attended a wedding a few years ago in which the MOTB wore a formal length cream colored pageant gown. Really! It fit her like a glove showing off every bit of cosmetic surgery she ever had. (which was a lot) She had tiny hips and HUGE boobs that were busting out (pun intended). It was embarrassing.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Ok, sistahs, if today is the day I work on Santa then I have to get off the computer.

Thank you for the great ideas! Keep 'em coming! I can use all the help I can get.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Lolol!! That was exactly how the bride's mother-in-law of Platinum Wedding wore that day. But hers was a large print dress!! Poor lady need some of that million dollars to hire herself a stylist!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Bj you are too funny

Quoting:

That's as far as I could read and I'm still laughing!Awwhaaaaa

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I needed that this morning.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... seriously Deborah... I have clothes that coordinate, really I do. But they usually just hang in my closet... who cares what I wear around here?... my family rarely sees me all cleaned up.

Where you been? How's your aunt doing?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Debra, are you looking for a dress to buy or are you having one made? You'd look wonderful in an ensemble that includes a wrap or jacket. I like champaine or cooper color for a MOTB.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Aunt Lisa isn't going to make it. Her liver isn't functioning. We took her home but that only lasted one night. Her husband had to see for himself the fix she's in without seditives of any kind. She's back in the hospital and will be transfered to the nursing home after Monday. So sad I cry every time I sit with her. She just struggles even under the high powered seditives.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm so sorry, Deborah... that's a tough thing for you to go through with her. I've been thinking about you a lot sitting with her, and all the heartbreak that's causing you. My prayers are with you and your aunt. God bless you.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

She's in God's Merciful Hands I realize that now.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Our Christmas tree is up and all decorated now. I think it's pretty. I used colored lights this year. Staceypoo's wreath is on the inside of my door in the sunroom. Looks so good there! Anyone else got there tree up yet?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Nope not yet, maybe this week. Gotta make a spot for it 1st lol.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

And mine is one of them put it together and plug it in. Now that the kids are grown it is not much fun to put it up.

smalltown, IL

Nope-Since I have recently moved into a new apartment and I have no decorations I think I'll be sitting this one out once again..

That's always my problem. Too much funiture and have to squeeze in the tree around chairs and taking one small table completely out of the den.

smalltown, IL

One thing I AM doing is playing Christmas music which that was forbiden before:))
LOL

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

The ONLY reason I will put the tree up is for my grandkids. And it usually comes down the day after christmas. I can not stand a tree up if there are no presents under it.

smalltown, IL

Ok I will share first..
It may not be my home but now my laptop is decorated and ready to go..

Morning Ladies,

Deborah, I'm sorry to hear about your Aunt.

Phyllis, yes my candles are soy and no the scents are not water based, they are oil.

My tree is up, but not decorated yet. Let's post pix of our trees.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Could you get one of those decorated table top trees? I think Fred's sells them and maybe Walmart. Remember to hit the sales the day after Christmas and load up on decorations for next year!

That picture is goreous!

smalltown, IL

did a google search for Christmas and then looked under the images and found it there..

smalltown, IL

Hey Deb;
Your right I don't need a big tree..I'll check out the Super Walmart for something small..
Thanks

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

I had to find places for my plants in order to put up my tree. Mine is fake with pinecones in it. Fresh trees are just too expensive. It's a shame all the trees that get burned up after Christmas.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Frasier Fur tree is what we usually get from North Carolina tree farm. I know I would not go into a forest and cut one, only those that are farmed for the cutting. I miss my real tree this year. But $75 was out of the question this year. My artificial will have to do this year. I think after everyone takes a pic of theirs, I'll take another of mine. Maybe by then there will be presents under the tree and I'll take a picture of it at night too.

Wow, trees here are about $30.00. Wonder why they cost so much over there? We are going to go get our tree in a little bit, so give me time to get it decorated, and I will post a picture. I just love the smell of a fresh tree.
