My sistahs Janice and Staceypoo surprised me the a cutting board with all kinds of grafts and lines and the a fancy ruler that's as wide as a book. I didn't realize sewing was so mathamatical. Or should I say geometrical. I can may quilts now for sure. Pink quilts! Thank you Staceypoo and Janice, y'all two put a smile on my face yesterday and it's stuck cuz I'ma still smiling!
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 64
Oooo, how nice of Janice and Fairy Fingers to send you a guide for cutting out those beautiful baby quilts. You're really going to find that handy when trying to cut a straight line. Now, all you need is a rotary cutter. Get a good one though, cause you won't be sorry for spending the extra few $$.
Janice... that's the thing... I haven't taken any meds, except the antibiotics a couple weeks ago for the H Pylori, and the pain meds when the pain gets too much to bear. Other than that, it's just been a matter of controlling a strict diet. It's a mystery at this point, because there seems to be no rhyme or reason behind what makes it come and go so much.
I need to find Dr. House the next time it happens... LOL.
Hey BJ, why don't you write into that tv show The Dr.'s and asked Dr. Travis what he thinks.
I've not heard of that show... But, I might look it up.
Could have blown me over with a feather just now. My doctor just called... not the nurse, like usual, but the doc himself. SHEESH. The nurse told him what I told her yesterday, about my weekend, then all of a sudden feeling normal again. He said, that NO a damaged nerve would not come and go like that... but a pinched nerve might react that way. Said the vegas nerve might somehow be getting pinched or crimped somewhere along the way from time to time, then getting unpinched causing the relief I'm experiencing. He said it could be caused by anything from lifting, bending, or simply by sitting a certain way. He still wants me to see the neurologist... when and if they call with an appointment.
Makes sense... because when I'm feeling good, I'm doing some pretty heavy stuff around here. Then, BAM... I suffer. Like this bout that's lasted over a month started when LK came for the RU in Oct. The week leading up to that Don and I were out digging a new bed in the secret garden. BIG BED. I was shoveling, lifting bags of compost, raking, tilling... well, you know what all it takes. THEN BAM... since then, I've taken it real easy, cause I haven't felt like doing anything at all. It must have become uncrimped somehow, and now I feel like moving dirt again.
I'm here, and have been extremely 'busy'. That strange four letter word!
Welcome Linda! Make yourself comfortable here. Just jump in the convo, if you're lost at understanding what's going on, just ask. Like BJ said, the prayers for you have already started before we get to know you! Keep that positive spirit up too.
Thank you Donna for bringing her here.
Niece, don't you think you're too spoiled already?? Goodness, you'll need a bigger house with all the goodies you're receiving!! Btw, thanks for the candy tree idea. Simple and I know some church kids will like that.
Cindy, tell Rick to take it easy. For the doctor to prescribe those pain pills for that long, he must have trusted Rick not to do anything illegal with it!
Boy, you'd be busy Saturday.. are you in the Dirty Santa swap too? Wonder how you're gonna juggle that?
Oh Tina-Tia, check your dmail. Do I dmail you the pic, or email?? If email, I need and email addy. Sorry to read your card's been swiped. Hope you'd be reimbursed for what's withdrawn without your authority. And the truck being down.. bummer... just hope the cost to get it running again won't be exorbitant.
Phyllis, we normally take banana pudding as is. Kel loves more cookies, and I love more bananas. But a dollop of whip cream added when served is the way to go.
Sis Kathy, too soon for Pilgrim to have an identity crisis!!! Now how many fowls do you have already...or have you lost count?
Sssshhh Joyce, they have very sensitive hearing. Hope Sis don't have a mirror in the coop :D
Wooopeee!!!! So, it's official that Deborah's joining the rank of quilters!!!! Thank you Janice and Stacey. You are both so sweet as to give her the necessities for accurate cutting. Yah, I agree with BJ, get you a good rotary cutter, start with a 45mm. like the Olfa brand. Then later you can get a bigger one.
Well BJ, I hope the doc can do something about that pinched nerve. For now, you musn't think of doing anything strenous.. no heavy lifting.. just sit back, do the planning, and let Don do the labor.
And BAM don't move that dirt!!!
LK, whenever that pot of ham and beans are ready, you got my number;)
BJ, don't you dare lift that bag of dirt, or pile of anything. Leave it alone, till you get some sort of Dr, results please!
You are going to love that ruler, and cutting mat for sure. it will save you so much cutting and measuring time. Like BJ said, make sure you get a good rotary cutter.
LK
Jaye... since you asked last night... and I didn't answer, because I didn't know yet... Don did neither. He's been very frugal and tried to stay clean. I always pack him extra boxers (just in case)... so, he just had to wear a shirt & socks twice. He's flying in tonight, instead of tomorrow... so that saved him by a day.
That's pretty smart of you BJ. He must appreciate the extra clean underwear :D
I HAVE A GRANDAUGHTER as of 930 this morning. 7 lbs 14 oz 19.5 inches long. I think her name is Savannah Faith, not sure yet I CAN NOT get ahold of anyone. I plan to go see her sometime this weekend and will get LOTS of pictures.
When it rains it pours and when the sun shines it is so bright. There is Hope.
Oh Jaye so sorry i forgot to answer your dmail I will now.
Congratulations Granma Tina-Tia.. can't say Whatever!!!
Welcome to the world Savannah Faith!!!
A huge welcome to new sistah Linda!!! Okay now, we have Linda 1 (busy teaching school now), Linda Kay and now Linda H. Hummm, she will be Florida Linda. It is so good having more sistahs from our state. I wam west of you about 3 hours as the crow flies.
Linda Kay, you do sound chipper!! So happy the foot is doing well and I positively agree, be spoiled while you can. Boy I would love to be spoiled for a while--well was for 44 years so I guess I can't complain.
Donna, you are just going to have to sleep sometime!!! You are going to be just to tired to play with us if you keep up that schedule. Rest lady.
BJ, that was good news that the doctor called. The other doctor may need his memory jogged about an appointment. Don't like it when you aren't feeling well and I know you don't either. Keep bugging them so we can get you all patched up. Don is going to be home for Thanksgiving dinner after all? That is so good. I actually am looking forward to a quieter, less hassle than normal day tomorrow. Will miss the girls but they will be home Saturday.
Phyllis, plain 'naner pudding, please!! None of that fluffy stuff on top!! Guess we will have some banana muffins for breakfast here. Kim is busy baking as I type. She has something in mind for some pears we have but not sure what yet. She is going to surprise me! Now that should be something!!!
Deborah, I am still floating thinking about a little girl. Enjoy that mat and ruler--just the start on collecting rulers for sure. How is your Aunt Lisa doing today. Prayer coming from here. I have a feeling Riley is going to be one of the best dressed young ladies in Georgia even before she makes an appearance. All the grandma's and aunties, maybe a few cousins too.
Tinky been missing you!! You anti social? Are you sure something isn't wrong? Waving to Janice. Looking forward to January and the B&W. Oh my it will be your fault this time Janice for starting me on a new color way for quilts. Good I am not the enabler for a change. Enjoy your day tomorrow.
Tia, so sorry to hear about the truck and your card. I do believe been a parent is the hardest job a person does with the least amount of training.!! Some how, some way we manage. Do hope it all works out for youf--you have been through enough already. Sending hugs, bunches of them.
Trisha and Laura, guess you are busy preparing food. Don't over work--eating is another matter.
Jaye, you ask we tell what we are thankful for: well, that you found me "floundering" on another thread and invited me to join a swap. That lead to meeting a group of people who share common interests, loves, likes and dislikes. Who support us when we are down, who laugh with us not at us when we mess up and who accept each of us for what we are and who we are. What more could one ask for?
Congratulations Tia, Tina!! Our family is growing.

Bear Huggs And Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
Donna & Family
Congrats to Tina and her daughter! That's a healthy sized baby girl! Yep, hurry with those photos. We will be pacing in the meantime.
Nice decorating, Donna!
Baby girls, baby turkeys, baby chickens .... wheeee!!!!
How are the preparations coming alomg for the big day? So far, I've got the cornbread baked and will make the dressing later tonight, pie in the oven, turkey in the brine, curried fruit baked, and green beans will be put together later tonight. My brother is bringing the sweet potatoes. And the table is set - with Jaye's arrangement! I posted a photo on the wreath swap thread but wanted to be sure everyone sees how pretty it is. It really completes the table. I love it!
That is just beautiful , how far am I from you just kidding. I am having pizza, homemade of course, tomorrow then friday is our thanksgiving.
Have a great Happy Thanksgiving, if it were not for all you girls here, I do not know If I could have made it I love you all. Hugssssssssss
We're here for ya Tina!
You're a great decorator Donna!! Hmm.. all I see is left for you to do, is maybe a Christmas tree!! I bet Tony will have so much to say after that surprise trip with his dad
$75 is pretty safe spending at Joann's. Won't you say so, Janice and Marion? Lol.. wait till she goes to a quilting store. So good of you to have Christina over for Thanksgiving.
Aww, never thought it would look that pretty, Debra. Lovely place setting. Love the pheasants...looking like an English or French rustic country home. All those hours and sweat and self doubts, just to see it being your centerpiece, makes me smile!! Kel's going "Look at that" over my shoulder!! I kept telling him, you are one classy sistah, it must not be something overpowering, just right....when I was arranging, rearranging and bending..and fluffing petals...
Funny, if it's something for myself, I tend to take the lazy approach.
Just look at my Santa..but when pressed to do for another, I guess I'm like the rest of you sistahs.. always try to do the best. BJ's right!!
M. Marion, again, I repeat.. it is us that are the lucky ones!! You're certainly one unique and extraordinary woman!! When the day comes, should the Lord decide to bring me home early, I'll be looking out for Ross and tell him that great warmth you always exude...and how honored we are to be called your sistahs. Oh..oh.. getting sentimental here!!
Yes, Tina-Tia. No sistah should go through any hardships alone. Like Debra said, we are here for you. And this goes to the rest of our new sistahs too. Vent, rage... (look at Phyllis, she's confident enough to do it here :D) and when you need a shoulder to cry on, pick one or up to the 20 odd sistahs you have!!
Won't be setting the table this year, and hadn't done it since I moved here. Waterford and Lenox still unpacked. It's a WIP house, and somehow, paper plates fit the decor perfectly :D But if Joey were to appear, I'll definitely take out those crystals and china and have a grand celebratory supper!!!
Deb your Table setting is beautiful.. I normally would set my table with my fantasia Princess house Crystal but unfortunately thats one of the items I boxed up and sold so this year we will be using the normal stuff. I dont mind though those things are replacable...
Tina - Tia we are here.. If I can vent , cry and rage so can you...........
Gonna get to some more decorating...
GRANNY BAR THE DOOR.... Look out, now.
I learned about 3pm this afternoon that the family is coming to my house tomorrow for T'giving dinner... well, actually, it was sort of my idea... but this spur of the moment prep stuff is killing me.
Was going to son and DIL tomorrow just so Don could get a good T'giving dinner, since I haven't felt good, and refused to cook something I wasn't going to get to eat. Well, DIL told me today that they're really not much into it this year, so they're serving brisket for T'giving... I thought about that for about 2 seconds.
I said "HUH UH!!!"... "Ya'll just drive over here, bring your corn cassarole, and get here in time to help me cook"... Don want's a traditional T'giving dinner, and I'll be switched if he isn't going to get one.
So, I had to fly to the grocery store, fight the crowd and find all the ingredients among empty shelves. (^@*(&$... let me tell you, I will never open my big mouth again.
Just sitting here typing while I eat something, cause I'm starved.
So, now I'm off to fix a brine for the turkey (yep, they actually had fresh, thawed ones), and make a couple pies, and a couple pans of cornbread tonight. The rest will wait till tomorrow.
WHEW... !!!!
Oh oh.. I think you left your 'broom' back there at the grocery store, BJ. And your hat's kinda crooked!!
ROFL!! Way to go Sistah!! It will be the best Thanksgiving dinner ever and your family will forever be thanking their lucky stars they got you!
Well, carrots marinated, green beans ready for slow cooker, pies in process of being made, dressing ingredients are ready to be mixed in the morning, brussel sprouts cleaned and ready for a new recipe we saw in the paper today. If they are good we will share. Squash are washed and sliced for the cassarole and the turkey is defrosted. Wahoo!! we are ready.
Oh Jaye, you made me cry. Yes this is a special bunch and I am so thankful I found--you found me!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my sistahs and their families.
Well, the brine is cooling in the fridge... too hot to pour over the turkeys (yep, got 2 small ones)... and I'm just taking a breather before making cornbread... just discovered I forgot cranberry sauce... yikes!!!... what to do, what to do???... without, that's what...
I'm doing what Laura does this time, and going to brine mine in the ice chest with a bag of ice in there with it. Made a fruity brine, with apple juice, cloves and nutmeg... only because I already had all that and it took very little thought.
My middle g'daughter flew in today to spend T'giving with us, and of all things, she's a vegetarian... now, how do you cook T'giving dinner for a vegetarian? Hmmmm.... wonder if I can make a "brothless" dressing? Might try that with veggie broth.
Ok, back to the kitchen...
Straightening my hat as I go.
Hey BJ com eon over I've got at least 1/2 of can of the jelly cranberries left over and one pumpkin pie that has not been cut yet plus half a pan of pumpkin pie squares....left over turducken, dressing, orange salad, homemade candied sweet tators, smashed tators and half a bowl of nana pudding...ROFL
of course we'll see how much is really leftover after the weekend wtih the step son and his eating habits.
Oh and I took Dh aside today and said to him ...I need to know...as long as he is living here and the drinking hasn't stopped....as proof is in the trash can outside then he HAS to take the empty bottles and cans out to the trash on a daily basis I will not have that in the house adding to the smell of his room ...my son was nto allowed to have dirty dishes and cans all over in the room the SS can't either.
So nwo we see if Dh says anything or not or if I have to . *sigh*
LOL! Me thinks BJ 'pretends' to complain about the short prep time, but she sure sounds excited, don't you think?!!! Ahhhh, BJ, that's great. It's so much more fun to prepare while anticipating the arrival of loved ones. (no one will miss the cranberry sauce)
Fresh brussels sprouts, Marion? Yes, please share the recipe if they are good. I like them but have never tried to cook fresh ones. Don't know what to do with them.
Donna, fatasia Princess House crystal? I'll have to look that up. Sounds very pretty but I'm not familiar with it. You are absolutely right - 'things' can be replaced. We use the crystal about 3x per year if that often. We host Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter lunch. Other than that, it sits in the cabinet taking up space. I like to expose our kids to 'finery' (ha ha) so they are not completely uncomfortable if in a formal situation in the future. And it makes the day feel special. Who wants to come help me wash and dry it after the meal???? LOL!
Jaye, you should not second guess yourself. You are very creative and a talented crafter. I forgot to put the pheasant candle sticks on the table before taking the photo. It's even prettier now! Will try to get another photo. My DSIL gave me the candlesticks a couple of Christmas's ago. They go with the china which is the Spode Woodland pattern. I started collecting it when we moved out here in the woods 5 years ago. A lot of it was purchased on ebay!
Tina, it's hard to beat homemade pizza. What do you put on it? Do you make the crust from scratch? I've never done that. Scary to think of what I might end up with! Enjoy your Thanksgiving on Friday.
Ok, dressing is out of the oven and cooling off. Once it's in the fridge, I'm going to bed. Long day. Enjoy your day tomorrow sistahs, whatever you are doing!
BJ, don't worry about the cranberry sauce!! Having family together is much better and I doubt (well hope they don't) they miss it. Kim made 2 different kinds this year with the fresh cranberries. Trying a different recipe so the test will be tomorrow.
Debra, yes fresh brussel sprouts. We love them but normally we either roast them in the oven or steam them until tender. We are trying a recipe called shredded brussel sprouts with bacon chips so will let you know.
Well I am off to bed also. A good tired tonight and besides I had a call from my oldest granddaughter--she lost her first tooth and wanted me to know. She even had her Dad send me a picture of her "toothless" smile. So what more can a lady want than to be able to share that experience with her grandchild!! LOL
Finally back home…been running all day!
Ham and Beans!!!! I am starved!
BJ if that’s the case, keep it UNPINCHED and let Don do the lifting!!
Sounds like you are going to have a great Thanksgiving!!!
Tia Can’t wait for BABY PICTURES!!!!!!!!
I love Home Made Pizza….my fav is Margahrita (sp) (Cheese, fresh tomatoes and Lots of Fresh Basil)
Everyone has done a great job of decorating and Jaye’s arrangement is beautiful!!
Marion, not cooking right now, just running…Laura had a meeting to attend, I had to drive her, pick up the kids from school and make sure Sage was ready for her Uncle to pick her up. Sage is going to spend Thanksgiving with her Mom’s family……the only time she gets with her Mom outside of court supervision. Then back to pick up Laura and get the rest of our shopping done…..she got the Turkey in the brine….so we are finally done until tomorrow.
What am I thankful for…..my family together….we don’t have a lot, but we have Enough……and most of all for the wonderful family I have found here on DG…..I will always be thankful to Laura for getting me to join and introducing me to this group of the best Sistah’s in the world……and not to forget our dear friend Jim……..Prayers for you all to have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving…….and returning health to all our sistahs and their families who are ailing right now. Will be popping in tomorrow to check on everyone.
Welp... last pie is in the oven... 25 more mins, and I'm done. For tonight, anyway. Gonna go wash up the rest of the dishes before I go to bed, but for the most part, I'm done.
Thanks, Phyllis... but we'll survive without cranberries this year, I'm sure.
I hope we have as much left overs ... that's the best part.
I'm exhausted, so, I'm going to go finish up, and slip into my jammies... Don should be home around 1am... don't think I'll be waiting up for him tonight.
Night BJ, have a great Thanksgiving..
I'm still up baking. Some of my menu items have been dropped and new items added. BJ's green bean bundles smell divine! I always like to add a few new dishes. I didn't get a chance to bake Jaye's Baileys cheese cake nor my caramel cake. I did bake the lemon bars, thanks to Janice for the recipe. I had to hunt in down again in past threads. Boy we sure move fast! LOL
Aunt Lisa's family will eat at her DSIL. She's home, her 21 days of medical hospitalization was up. The choices her husband was given was nursing home or home care with hospice. I'll be spending every other night there as long as I'm needed. She's in extrusating pain that morphine hardly numbs. Maybe they should increase the doses. I just don't know. I'm trying to keep my mouth shut about it all. The doctors say they have done all they can do. Lord hear our prayer. Please continue to pray for her.
We have a new Linda, welcome, sweetie. I know all about not having heat in the house. We didn't have heat in our house for the first 5 years of our marriage which we lived in Larrys homeplace with Aunt Annie. We had a space heater and I hooked up an extention cord to get the heater closer to Greg's baby bed. There was a twin bed in that room and I awoke to smoke. The extention cord shorted out and caught the bed spread on fire. Scared the daylights and much more unmentionables out of me! So Linda, DO NOT use an extention cord to your heaters.
Debra, your table is perfect! You are exactly right about training your daughter and step children on fine dining ettequette (sp always). Will make them feel comfortable out in the world of fine dining. They'll be the first to pick up the correct fork! Yea Mom! I remember my mama doing the same thing for special occasions like birthdays and holidays. I'm proud she did that for my brother and me. The Spode woodsmen is a popular pattern in my neck of the woods. Seems all the kids that grew up with my boys chose that pattern as they got married. I know I've bought enough plates to set my own table. Alas, my best was bought in a boxed set. LOL Down to only 5 plates with boys promising to bring back plates of leftovers. Never doing so. Oh well, thank goodness for Chinet. I do have Aunt Annie's ancient set boxed in the attic and it's 24K rimmed. I should get it down. Dontcha think? And my Aunt Patsy's silver in the case under the bed. What am I saving all this for? I KNOW RILEY!!!!Yes!
Good nite. still have a pecan pie to bake.

Good Morning Sistahs!
Thank you for the extension cord warning Deborah! I got a small electric heater that I am moving to whatever room I am in and have been able to plug directly into an outlet. I unplug it at nite to be on the safe side. It sure is chilly this am--32 degrees outside and not much warmer inside. Sitting here trying to stay on the internet! They got my cable, internet and phone hooked up yesterday but the internet goes out from time to time and the phone does not work at all! They will come and check it Sat between 4-6 pm! I do not like Comcast today!!! Also something is wrong with my return key on the keyboard so have to use the return key over by the numeric pad! GRR! Got to find my other keyboard later.
Wishing each of you a wonderful Thanksgiving!!
Linda
