Mornin Girls I'm home.
We got in around 4 pm.
went around and dead headed the roses that were blooming, put my stuff away and sat down and worked on my last Santa I had left to make. He's done except for the finishing touches.
Have a nice cold goin on again...so hitting the sore this morning to get the rest of what is needed for turkey day and some stuff for this cold.
Have to go find the recipes again now and write down what I need ...not making alot as it will just be the 5 of us.
Have the squares cut out for a rag purse so have that to work on and have a small wall quilt to put together so have enough stuff to keep me busy this week while off from work.
So I'll start your day out with this LOL
Thanksgiving Divorce
A man in Jacksonville calls his son in San Diego the day
before Thanksgiving and says, 'I hate to ruin your holiday
son, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of
misery is enough.
'Pop, what are you talking about?' the son screams.
We can't stand the sight of each other any longer,'
the father says. I've had it with the old hag, and
I'm sick of talking about this, so do me a favor and
call your sister and tell her. Bye.' The old man hangs
up.
Frantic, the son calls his sister in Denver, who explodes
on the phone. 'Like h*** they're getting divorced,' she shouts,
'I'll take care of this,'
She calls Jacksonville immediately, and screams at her father, 'You are
NOT getting divorced. Do not do a single thing until I get
there. I am calling my brother back, and we will both be there first
thing tomorrow. Until then, don't do a dang thing, DO YOU HEAR ME - DON'T DO
A DANG THING?' she screams and hangs up.
The old man hangs up his phone and walks into the kitchen
where his wife is baking a pumpkin pie.
'Everything is set,' he says, they're coming
for Thanksgiving and this time they're paying their own
way.'

LMAO I love that one.
Morning BSsF !!!
Morning #2, no pain. Wheeeeeee
Well, I don't know why... but I feel just great. I even ate 1/2 a baked sweet potato for dinner last night. (high fiber)... just as a test... and have had no ill effects so far.... would have happened early this morning if it were going to happen. Not going to push it though, so I'm still doing mostly liquids.
Felt so good yesterday that I set out to clean house. Didn't get much done because I got off on rearranging and cleaning the sun porch. Some of the plants weren't getting enough sun, so had to move stuff away from windows and move plants closer to windows. Plus I had dirt and leaves all over the floor, so had to sweep and vacuum. Only got about half of the sun porch done, because I just gave out. Don't have the stamina to do much yet. But, I'll just pick up where I left off today.
Prayers going up for Lisa (Deb's aunt), and huggs for Deborah, you hang in there sistah... and please, check in with us when you can.
Good to see your home Phyllis... safe and sound, and enjoying your family all around you... even 5 for Thanksgiving can be a big crowd, if you enjoy the dickens out of all of them.
Chickie Momma with a Gun... any turkey babies yet?
Marion... how are you this morning? Feeling back to your old self yet? Kicking that sinus/cold can be a bear this time of year... I just hate how they linger on and on and on in the fall.
Donna... still dancing this morning? I know I'm so happy for you I was smiling right along with you yesterday... and still having happy feet this morning.
I know there was someting else I was going to say this morning, but I can't remember now what it was... maybe I'll think of it later.
More coffee.
Morning ladies...thank you so much Cindy for telling me about the arthritis stuff. I'm definitely checking that out! I'm so relieved it isn't anything worse! I didn't tell my folks anything until I found out yesterday cause I didn't want them worrying. Mom thanked me for not telling. She said she had enough on her plate to worry about! Dad goes to the Dr. today, so hopefully they'll have something to tell him about his CT scan. I'm thinking that if it was bad news, they'd have heard something by now.
BJ, dear, I'm so glad you feel good this morning. Just wish there was something more I could do for you...
Donna, such good news from you too, has to be all these prayers!!
Jaye, you are such a sweetheart, you are our prayer cheerleader! ^_^
Yes, Sis....where ARE you? Still a rockin and a waitin???
Hope all of you with sniffles and such start feeling better.
Hugs and prayers to you Deborah and Aunt Lisa.
Frantic waving to all those I didn't mention by name!
I'm so glad you've had pain free days, BJ!!! Don't overdo just because you feel better! You have to get your strength back!
Deb, tell Lisa we love her, and get well quick, like a bunny!
Not so good news for my Aunt Lisa. I spent the night with her and she didn't rest any. Hospice will help us when we get her home. Continue prayers. I'm praying for wellness and comfort for her to enjoy her home with husband.
My grandbaby is a girl. Not sure about the spelling but her name is Riley. Still deciding on a middle name. DDIL sent me two balloons one for boy one for girl with 2 roses. Yip I first thought twins. Right? who wouldn't. Then when I opened the card she said "we know for sure know. It's a girl! Scared the hippeejeeppees out of me for a minute there.
Congratulations, Deb!! Now you can make teeny little pink dresses! Need some lace?
Thanks Audrey. I don't know how to sew dresses just yet. Thanks for the lace offer but I'd better wait until I can practice more. Blankets right now are my speed.
Youll have enough practise in before she gets here!
WOO HOO... A LITTLE GIRL !!! I know you were hoping for a boy to be the next big all star baseball player... but this little girl will be the joy of your whole life soon. I'm so thrilled for you.
Bitter sweet day for you though. Not good news about your aunt. Will say extra prayers for her... and you.
Well, I just got off the phone with Cuz Kathy... she's such a hoot...
WE ARE ALL AUNTIES OF A HEALTHY BABY TURKEY!!! I heard it chirp.. what a sweet sound. Kathy is such a happy chickie momma.
3 more turkey eggs to go, all pipped, and on their way... but one might not make it... hasn't made progress since yesterday, so she's not very hopeful.
Dog is still being a menace, and she's still got the shotgun on her shoulder, pacing like on guard duty. Actually sitting on the porch, in her rocker... shotgun across her lap, like Granny Clampet.
She's really really busy today baking pumpkin pies... well, you know all the stuff she does... never a dull moment at her house.
I can smell the pies, now! Come by here and pick me up, BJ! Let's go help her eat them! We can take turns with the shotgun!
Happy dance here for BJ! Hoping you will report day #3 without pain!
Happy dance for Donna and her wise mortgage bankers, Deborah and her soon to be grand-daughter, Kathy and her chirping baby turkey, Joyce and her diagnosis of arthritis and nothing more serious, Phyllis and her beautiful santas, Audrey for making us a yummy breakfast, and Trishia and her beautiful hand made cards.
Deborah, I didn't realize your aunt was terminal. I thought she was improving. Sending hugs to you and Lisa. Glad she's able to go back to her own home. I'm a HUGE supporter of hospice. They are angels on earth.
Gotta run. Back from master gardener work project and need to get cleaned up to take DFIL to the doctor. Then will begin Thanksgiving preparations tonight. Let's see, tonight we will put the turkey into the brining solution, make the curried fruit, bake the cornbread for the dressing, and (once again) dig the dining room table out from under the crafting supplies. Will iron a tablecloth and put Jaye's arrangement on the table.
Sistahs and nieces, my youngest niece, Nurin, who is 2 years old is hospitalized in Singapore, for a bad virus. She's lost 4 lbs., and right now given intravenous drip to combat her dehydration.
Please say a prayer for her. That's her, with her cousins a few months back.
Deborah, we'll continue to petition to our Lord for your Aunt Lisa. Wish we could comfort you as much as you're comforting your Aunt.
Gee.. now I got to think PINK!!! NP, for Deborah's first grandbaby, I'll tolerate it :D
Joyce, you know what I'm gonna write next. Yep... petitioned to our Lord that your dad will be fine too :D
That's indeed good news, BJ, no upchucking and no pain. May that continue everyday!!!
Lolol.... Sis as granma Clampett... that's about right.. someone send Kathy some chewing tobacco.
So funny Phyllis, I need that laugh. Will tell MIL that joke..maybe Kel's brother will be here for Thanksgiving.
OMG I just looked at the list above and ya know what Betty and I share the same day ROFL
just popped in to keep up on reading and am off to start my stuff for dinner tomorrow ..we are doing it tomorrow late afternoon so they can go to his folks Thursday
will pop in again I'm sure LOL
Prayers and thoughts for everyone !!!!!!!
Awww... Debra... a tablecloth to set my poor arrangement? What an honor..
Audrey I missed breakfast!!! Sounded really good!!!
Prayers going out to all !
BJ so glad you aren't in pain, just don't over do please!
Jaye and extra prayer for your little one....and her family, it is even harder when children are sick...
I am so excited about the Burgs!!!!!!!! And I got a call from a neighbor who wanted to know if I wanted a start of her Mallow Tree she had the gardener thin out......have no idea what it is but of course I said yes...it's a plant isn't it???
Donna I know you guys have got to be sooooo happy!!!! So are we......prayer does work!
Debra glad to know mine isn't the only Dining table under a pile of crafting materials!! At least we are eating next door at Mums house....Laura is brining the Turkey for us....yum, can't wait!!
Deborah hoooorrrraaaayy, a little girl!!!!!!
Jaye, you can always go with pale yellow, mint green or lilac for little girls instead of that P word.
Phyllis, great story!!!! I just finished to 4th Santa, just have to get all the embellishments added.....oooh what Betty started...........
It is cool, rain is moving in and it is getting foggy out across the valley......a good day to make soup......have to see if there is anything in the cupboard that will work!!!!
Hugs and Waves to all I have missed......BBL
Thank you Trish. Sheila (my sister) will sure needs all the prayers. The time difference is killing me. I can only call her when I'm supposed to be sleeping... 12 hours' difference.
A mallow is similar to the hibiscus....so yes, it is a plant!!!! Kel was given a few twigs and he managed to root them by sticking them in a pot of soil kept moist.
The time difference was always a problem for us when we lived in Taiwan......didn't get to talk to the family by phone very often
At least this mallow is complete with roots and she said I should be able to replant it outside immediately. Moisture isn't a problem...it just started to rain again:(
Trisha, Jaye... I've already got my yellows picked out... so, pick out one of the other colors... PLEASE?!!!!
Prayers for your dear baby niece, for sure... she's way to young to know suffering... May the Lord touch her and heal her right away.
Mallow... not one I've heard of... as in Marshmallow? LOL
Well, I've been working on the sun porch some more, and am all the way to the middle of the room... seems as though we clutter the one side more than the other... but, I'm on a roll... slowing down this afternoon... so, I'm taking a break.
Had smooth Peanut Butter w/grape jelly on bread for lunch with a glass of milk ... and OH MY, what a treat that was... never thought I'd be soooo happy about such little things as that.
At least now we have the 'net. They can always email too.
Psst.. Trisha.. send Laura over when she's thru' brining turkey :D
Alrighty BJ...guess I'll go through the pastels.. hmm.. light purple?? YEAH...that's it..
I LOVE peanut butter. I allow myself to snack on a tbsp. a day, when I have the urge for treats. You're getting some protein at least, BJ.
Nurin is Kelvin's special niece. He had asked me out of the blues which sister's pregnant, before Nurin's conceived. Of course they all denied it. Then a few months later, Sheila went "Ooops!". So difficult being here.. I want so bad to just fly to Singapore. But I know, she's well taken care of. Singapore has up to-date medical facilities.
Bill says you will be okay BJ........as long as you can eat cheese and peanut butter he thinks you are getting to eat the most important foods!!
Jaye, Laura did our turkey last year and it was the best we have ever had!!
Smart man that Bill of yours. Now I'll tell Kel that, he can't tolerate peanut butter. Give me the one with extra crunch!! Lol!!
Never had brined turkey, but had brined chicken once. Guess I can always do one with a small turkey.
Marion's on the phone with me now...she's having problems with her server right now..
bbl
Yep... smart man, that Bill. Love cheese and p'butter.
Tell Marion HI for me !!!
Now, back to that sun porch... break is over.
No telling when Marion's able to return online.. not the first time she's having problems with the server.. but she wishes us all a Happy Thanksgiving.
Say a prayer for her mum too, she's diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
We'll certainly miss Maid M., won't we?
If I were in Louisiana, this would be the usual Thanksgiving menu for me...
Fried Turkey (normally ordered from Swift's in Carencro)
Cajun Rice Dressing, with chicken livers and eggplants
Garlic stuffed potatoes (make a small hole on one end of the potato, stuff it with finely chopped garlic, to which some Tony's seasoning has been added, then baked)
Scalloped Potatoes
Candied Yams
Crawfish Cornbread
Sweet Potato pie
Bread Pudding
Ahhh... heaven....
Hello everyone, I am back form the foot Dr. and so far all is well. he told me I have to keep the clinky boot on for a few more weeks, but I can now loose the crutches. I am down to useing the cane for support. Stitches will come out hopefully on the 5th, when I go back again.
Congrats on the little girl Riley!
Phyllis, glad to hear your home, but you have to get rid of that dang cold!!!
BJ, so glad to hear you are on day 2 of no pain!!! And busy cleaning out the porch, please take it easy, and don't over do it!
Everyone, have a great day.
LK
Look at my beautiful brugs in bloom!!!
Don't throw the crutches in your DH's direction, LK! You know what we're gonna say.. be careful with that foot.
Deborah, btw, when Marion found out you're having a grandaughter.. she SCREAMED!!! Almost lost my hearing!
Marion, I do hope you get your computer working and running again soon.
LK
glad things are goin good for ya LK
girls I need to vent I am beside myself ready to cry right now and not sure just what to do if anything
keep in mind I was gone from Thursday night till last night so it was just DH and his son here
and I know DH didn't stay up late or anything and he was probably in the bedroom playin solitaire when son got home so he has no idea what was brought into the house.
I just went looking for some missing bowls and I know the SS takes food in his room and doesn't always bring the dirty dishes out till a day later or so so I went in to look and checked just inside the closet as I have found dishes under the bed too so it never hurts to just over look things.
well guess what is in the closet.............$#%^$^%&(%!$#@%U^&*(%$E#%^&*(
beer empty cans crushed and a case of bottles........the rule was no drinking or having any of that in the house anymore so now he is sneaking it in and trying to hide it in his closet.
I want him out of our home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but I also know he has to have the guy he went to for his evaluation get ahold of Illinois and find out if they will give him an extension on getting his stuff in as he is almost done now other wise he has 90 days to get it in.
of course I'm pretty sure he procrastinated enough to get things started is why he ran out of time but without a drivers lis. we can't put the blazer in his name so DH is not responsible for anything.
A big part of me right now is wishing the ^$^*)*^& gets stopped on his way home from work and spends the holidays in jail for driving without a valid drivers lis.
Then maybe it would wake him up some to get his act together.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
now how to say something to DH about it without causing a huge scene as I know he will go on the defensive over it
Oh, DEAR Phyllis... what a position that puts you in with a step child. I really feel for you. I don't know the correct way for you to handle it... but here's what I would do...
Take hubby by the hand and say, "come here, honey... I want to show you something".... take him to the closet door... open it... and then just look at him with a smirk... and say "... he knows the rules, now ... you handle it."... then walk out of the room.
LK... are you sure you're not posting this from some exotic tropical island somewhere?
What a beautiful brug, and here in November, no less.
DARN... MARION can't go missing !!!! HURRY, Marion... get it fixed !!!
Prayers continue to go out for your mom... you, and your sister... that's a heartbreaking disease for the family.
Phyllis, I think I would do what BJ said! Up front, and to the point. Handle it!!! It is your house too, and you have a say to what goes on there.
No tropical Island here, but it sure looks like it in the garden! I am so doing the one footed happy dance for sure. And you should see all the little buds still trying to form? I don't think the plants know it is late November! LOL
LK
I think BJ's advice is good.....it shouldn't all fall to you to deal with......and he does need to go soon as you can work it out...that is the only thing that worked with my nephew..
LK they are beautiful.....if my luck holds and I can follow Jaye's instructions, I will have some next year!!!
Jaye, of course there will be a cloth on the table! It's Thanksgiving! And I have a beautiful arrangement for the centerpiece this year. Last year was pathetic. I'll take a photo after the table is set to show you.
Poor Phyllis, That's soooooo frustrating! After dealing with 2 alcholics in my lifetime, the best advice I can offer is to not go into his room. Seriously! I'm not being sarcastic or uncaring. I'm sharing a lesson that was hard for me to learn. You cannot force him to change if he's not willing. You know what you are going to find. No one gets upset but you. Those last three sentences totally applied to me a few years ago: "I" could not force him to change if he was not willing. "I" knew what "I" was going to find. No one got upset but "me"! Focus on getting him out of the house - then you don't have to see it. Hope I don't sound harsh - it really brings back the feelings of anger and frustration I felt and eventually I learned I was the only one upset and was making myself sick over something I could not control. (((((hugs)))))
LK, your brugs are unbelieveable. Jaye, the cuttings you sent me are starting to sprout roots!
Took DFIL to the grocery store after his doctor's appt today. Ugh! The Thanksgiving rush has officially begun!
Good evening everyone Mrs. Linda Kay invited me over. Thanks Cody
