Let me just read this again: 'the only time....lots of squirrels' - is this dog talk for counterfactural thinking - 'I can get away with not obeying by convincing said human there is a squirrel present, even if there isn't but I think there is, but she won't be angry because she believes my reality'.
Yes, dog logic, coupled to dog owner logic equals smashed camera.
I love dog logic. Live by it readily. TERRIER. Extreme dog logic. Terrier owner. Sucker for dog logic.
Tilly's Little Acre
Have a neighbor with a Jack Russell, now that is a whole different breed. LOL Her kill rate is outrageous. Squirrels (one in the house, got in while they were doing some wall work) young nutria, voles, mice and the occasional bird. Luckily she's leashed most of the time.
That is what Jack Russells are made for. Its why they can be sooooooo destructive to shoes and other non-living things (cushions, stuffed toys, spades, wheelbarrow wheels, bicycle tires, tractors) - tough little things.
And fierce protector of everything she claims as hers! LOL She is a friendly little one, always looks for treats. I walk her when the neighbors are gone, so she claims me too.
Boy my dogs must be real woosies, They don't chase things, the cats have taught them that LOL (it might hurt)
Never tear up toys only bark if we come down the drive, now thats sad.
But love the water and brings all that wet, dripping stuff in the house. as they play in the creek or the pool. Be fore we can catch them.
Happy 4th all
Sounds like my kind of dog. LOL
Happy Fourth to you too. We're going to a picnic. Hopefully it won't be too hot.
No, I will be at work, so will miss all the fun. but then again I will be cool, inside with aircon.
Enjoy
Happy fourth from across the pond.
Koka obeys me all other times, and I only have to tell her once not to do something. She's pretty smart - was trained as an Angel Guide for disabled children. However, American Indian dogs are descendants of tribe dogs and coyotes - lots of coyote - and the tracking and hunting instinct is amazing. When she stalks a squirrel she moves each foot so slooooowly, like a cat, and is totally focused. Her little nose twitches and she breathes shallowly so as to remain undetected. Then after the squirrel runs up a tree, Koka turns around and is at my side again. These AI dogs are used as sled dogs and the Indians (Native Americans) used them to keep watch on the little kids in camp and round them up if they wandered.
I admit to being a sucker for dog logic. After all, what do we know (excluding stuff like calculus) that they don't?
Judi - as far as I can tell, they just don't know some things...yet. They don't cook their food, but no thumbs can be a hindrance, there.
Happy 4th to all, 3.5 hours later west coast time. But had a long funny day LOL I know most of don't the commute I do, but today was most special. I was worried that I would be late to work, so I left a little early. Had the time of my life, thought I was in a paraded. Forgot about the Kingston parade on the the 4th.
Was to cute driving to the boat to go to work, was wall to wall both sides of the street 'Chairs' and little kids waving. I wave back was fun.
And the joy of firewoks coming home, now that was not fun.
Off to bed now a very long day fo me
Hugs to All
Kayte - dogs don't really need to cook their food.......
Its catch and grab, not to proper temp, fur on or not. LOL
LOL well said Tills!
LOL Its a dogs world, or even the cats
fresh kill is warm - no need to cook. cooked Kibble sounds....mushy. And of course they don't need to cook their food, but if they wanted to, it would be tough without thumbs. We don't need to cook our food either, except we don't have the stomach acids for a raw meat diet.
I think they know far more than we can comprehend, and their understanding is on another level. sometimes wise & much of the time like small children. I really enjoy the love from their eyes.
I like when they are mad as hatters.
I have a pump in my creek that I use to water my yard, water level is low right now so you have to take a break for it to fill. This is what my kitties found while we where waiting for it to refill. I was not fast enough to get them n action. But did find him/her
Hi, Sassy! :)
I don't know what I am looking at in the last pic.
Opps sorry wrong pic.
This is a barge that went aground in Kingston.
YIKES! What happened?
I still don't know, but it was gone today High tied.
Tilly, great pics! I have watched my pups try to chase frogs, and have come to the conclusion that frogs must not have a scent, because if they sit very still, the dogs just can't find them...and these are hunting dogs! I am thinking that everyone is busy in the garden right now...forum has been quiet, and speaking for myself, I have't had much time at all to play on the puter. Tis the season....
Katye, that one is very pretty. Do you cut them back after blooming? My plain blue ones are flopping and are looking pretty ratty right now. I just planted them last year, so I don't know about their care.
Lynn - I do cut them back & they absolutely love it, springing back quickly with more flowers. I think this holds true for many perennials - cut back about 1/4 of the way (per stem). Your efforts will be rewarded. i just cut back most of my salvias (i have mannnnnnny) - had to time it so i wouldn't disturb the bees. After 1 week they are flowering again.
Thanks, Katye. I cut back my Silene, hoping for them to rebloom, but nothing yet. I did cut them more than 1/4. I didn't do them all, so I will cut those back like you suggested. Do you cut back Shasta Daisy also? Or deadhead?
Sorry Tills, for hijacking your thread.
