Sorry I got way laid and had to feed the dogs and talk to my mom for awhile. I meant me. I will let you know what developes. Maybe we can do a week day. No rush.
Tilly's Little Acre
Thats okay, I thought I lost it.
We will connect.
Mary, here are some pictures of Nandina in a garden under a mature evergreen tree. It's a little larger scale than the area you're developing, but you might get some ideas from it.
Tilly--Looks like spring is full of surprises for you! I loved the before/after pics! Isn't it rewarding to see the beautiful changes come about? There is nothing like taking pictures each year to really appreciate the impact of your hard work!
Thanks Gem, this is its 2nd year. and a lot more to do.
Tilly,
I have been at mine for over 10, and I am still not done. The satisfaction of looking at the B4 pics is incredible for me at this point, but there is still SO much I would like to improve/change. Looks like our worlds are very similar...building garden into a woodland. I love the final result, although sometimes I do drool over the beautiful "formal" gardens. Never gonna be that here!
Looking good tills. Isn't it fun to see things start to wake up?
Love Tyler the gardening dog!
Julie, would love to see your progess, maybe I can get some ideas. We bounce on so many treads, then I can't recall where is what, and who done what and how and so on and on. Now that sounded dumb LOL (then maybe not) I have some many notes, on my desk its not funny. Then the cats help to mess them all up. Have to start over.
Is kitty looking for a mouse?
Ya, but its on the other end LOL
That's usually what I get when mine have decided I've been on the computer too long!! Either that or she's pushing my lap top off my lap. LOL
Wish I had woodpeckers, nice try Tills. Isn't much you can do when they're too far away. At least you got to see and hear him/her.
Tilly,
Asking me for garden pictures is like asking a new grandma for pics of her new grandbaby....you are opening a can of worms!
These pics aren't the best...especially the older ones...but it gives you the effect that you have to look forward to after you have worked in your "new" garden for several years.
I started with a completely blank slate (with the exception of the wonderful background that Mother Nature gave me. This is the garden around my pumphouse in 1999.
This is from July 2006, and you can barely find her! Biggest lesson learned...no matter how tempting it is to fill in your new gardens...have to remember that stuff GROWS! No, wait...that was the second biggest lesson. The BIGGEST lesson is that no matter how cute little sword ferns look in the garden, you DON'T want to have to move them when they get to be 5+ foot around and eat the rest of your plants!
Nice. You've done a lot of work with good results.
Thank you raregem, Sorry I did not get back to you sooner. Those are great pics and yes I know Grama, kids, YARD pics, gota show em LOL
Yes we have alot in common as far as our yards, with mother nature as are backdrop you have to go with the flow or it would look funny.
This has been a tough week and next week is no better. Been keeping up on the treads, just not alot of time to indulge in them. We'll compare note one of thes days.
As far as doing seeds from Hells, it is easy. I have it from Ronco (Laurie) Set it, and for get it for 265+ days.
Hi Tils, I did my tour on the 'Spring in my garden' thread! See what you think.
Hello tills, just strolling through with a cup of tea. xo
Tills in post 6291749 there is something sitting on a tree stump by the tree in the upper left of the pic. Is that a bear sculpture or another animal? Whatever it is, it looks at home there! I like your paths.
Raregem I like the befores and afters. Always so interesting to see how things turn out!
Willow, I took a stroll and loved it as always. You have such a wonderful place. ^_^
Glad you stopped by for tea Laurie. Be glad when this weather warms up, Hate being cold and wet.
Hugs
Judi, That is 2 bear cubs on a stump. Will get a close-up, when I get a chance
Tilly, I know how the busy thing goes. Always so much to do and you can never figure out where the time goes! We do need to compare notes as our worlds are so similar, with the very wild backdrop. I hope you will come on our garden tour at the roundup. I always drool when I see the more formal style gardens like Willow's :) but will never be able to achieve that myself (too much room and not enough time or $$). My husband makes me feel better when he tells me that the "wild and unruley" style suits my personality better anyway.
Judi, This winter is the first time I have actually looked at the before and after pics of my garden, and it stunned me to see the changes. When you spend so much time there, the changes progress without really being seen. Thank god that photos are so much easier these days! Now if we can just make ourselves take them as often as we should!
You are right RJ, with soo much room and so many areas to cover if you don't stay on top of it, the wild takes it back (blackberrys + others) I will be at the round up ( I hope nothing changes my plans) I will bring my lap top and all my pics if you would like to see them?
Judi, these are my little guys on the stump.
This is getting to long so we are moving>>>>>>>>>>
We moved to here.

hey tillysrat, how is your iris bed coming along?
Its coming along real good, I have 5 that have buds so far. I guess I won't have a vegie garden this year. Thats where they are, I did not get the new bed done YET story of my life.
How about you?
My irises have been blooming for over a month now - they're about finished. I've probably moved them 3 times since I planted them....still looking for a good permanent spot where rot won't be a problem. How are the rings you designed working out? Are they staying contained inside the rings?
I have to laugh at your veggie garden remark. The irises are now in a raised bed that was supposed to be for veggies, but the deer decimated everything that we planted in it last year. we've been talking about fencing it in for two years, and just got in the 8 foot posts to attach the wires to. Hope it works!
Blooming for a month??? Wow. Mine just started. The rings are doing good for now, except the cats keep digging in the bark area where the Dals are. I heard that Irises don't like bark on them.
I have one more car to get out of the way for the Iris bed I want to do, so veggi bed it is. LOL
Good luck with the fence, thats one problem I don't have is deer. My big problems are SLUGS and KITTY"S that like fresh dirt. Funny
I think between the 50 Irises and 30 Dals, I'm in deep.
Have some updates
Stay tuned
