yes - i deadhead & cut back whatever I can - it seems that the second flush of blooms looks better than the first. Probably because of our typically crappy weather. This year - it all looks good! Go Sun!
Tilly's Little Acre
Ha Ha, Funny
We all hijack in one way or the other, thats what makes it fun sometimes.
Katye, I so love that color. I have babies poping up every where, just havent had time to round them up into pots. If you get babies save one
Lynn, when mine get floopy ( more like someone sat on them ) I cut them off and behold we start all over again. They love abuse LOL
Jack has never failed me
Tils, I will be on the lookout for baby Amethyst in Snow (I was previously gone dyslexic with the name!). They are too pretty & I would love to have lots to share! Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Tills, Jack is beautiful.
Are you going to the round up???? Need to get the plants you want to you.
Thanks Lynn, He has always come tru, got him and Persy (as I call Him) in a double bag for bulbs at Home Depot 3+ years ago. Persy has normally shown by now, he did bloom twice a year, but I cut him back last year and I think he did not like it. But Jack like it, I have a A and a C or B and a C cant remember whos who. But the pruning is different on each. I my have messed up LOL But I have buds on him.
I always get the pruning groups mixed up, too. My potted clems only bloomed once this year, but they were really pretty. I will plant them in the ground as soon as the their arbors are finished. Maybe they will be happier.
I follow the threads, but normally am too tired to post. I wanted to tell you that your new car is very nice. And you have really been working your fannie off clearing out the junk and building new flower beds. Very nice. I need to do the same. We have an old van parked next to the barn, hasn't run in years. DH has an emotional attachment to that old heap of junk, and "someday" he is going to get it running. Yeah, someday. Behind the barn, amongst my plastic pot heap (of course, they aren't junk - LOL), is the old TV antennae that he refuses to take to the dump because he paid "good" money for it. We have satellite, will never ever use it again. And then there is the engine and tranny laying in another part of the yard ( "that was a darn good engine"), buckets and buckets and buckets of stuff the neighbor gave him years ago to put on the driveway (probably because he was too cheap to dispose of them, and he found a sucker to take them). Oh yes, there are also various bits of building materials here and there from when he built this house in 1998. Some are still waiting to be used, as in finishing the stonework on the house.
Sigh, another big sigh, so try to ignore these unique pieces of yard art when you come to the Roundup!!!
TV antennae = vine support.
Was thinking the same thing Katye, Its bendable too
I have the same problem with time and posting and can't forget reading them.
Whats the saying " another mans trash is another mans tresure" Same here, The greatest words " SOMEDAY" LOL
Hmmm, never thought of that!
That's a Gloriosa Daisy. They are great summer flowers. And seed themselves well.
Love your poppy face.
Funny, I never had any. Thanks Willow
Love those phlox. That's on my list of stuff I want to try next year. (The list is getting awfully long... LOL)
Your flowers are looking lovely Tills. Nice photos!!
Pony I have a extra White, Davidii
Would you like it, some of my plans are being held off and it can't live in the pot that long. And if I plant in the ground it might be to big to plant around the roots of the trees. I have found that gallon or smaller I can make fit.
Thank Sally, The Dal bed I made last year, I am so happy with. I think I will go back and find that tread and add a year too it, fo all the ones that didnt see the work before.
Tilly, if you're sure you won't have a place for it, I'd be happy to have it. Thank you. :)
Its yours. I might have one of others, not sure yet it got stepped on by big moose dog. we will see.
Hello, Tils and all. I've just been strolling around with my cuppa tea looking at your blooms. I love the poppy bud, so glad you stopped and pointed it out. something about the last one is so poignant, it marks that the summer is progressing and I always want to arrest it at the peak. Driving home on Weds evening I realize that although its still light out at nine, its definately duskish. Bugger. why is summer always soooooooo short. And grampa otts, that is summer.
Just stopping in, I am absolutely determined to finish off all of my paper work before next weds - and then three whole weeks to just be a gardener, and I'm planning on being a lazy gardener. Lots and lots of wandering around. But I'll join you with the barrow then. Shall I bring my spade - I'm happy to dig as long as I'm told how deep, how wide, and exactly where. The decision making button will be set to off.
(I am here browsing, I just haven't had much to say)
Nice to hear from you Laurie.....such a way with words.
Hi Laurie, Funny I was just thinking about you " Got to get those seeds off " LOL
I don't think you can be a lazy gardener, you will find something to change, move ect.
Yes summer is way to short, but so far I think I would rather have spring back and skip this summer LOL its been way too hooooT 3 digies is way to much, even for me who grew up in the desert.
Hope you stop in more often, its so nice to hear your views on things.
Hugs
Tills
I will definately find things to change, I'm hoping to sit in my nice comfy lawn chair think, rather than do, about it!
Is the purple one Beebalm? Monarda. I have the read, but the purple is looovvvvvellly. I'll watch out for that one (ahhhh, yes, a stroll round the nursery. Tick, on my list. I think I'll wear white so I only collect small plants). I'm really planning on being lazy. Is anyone putting bee houses in their garden? I've been doing a bit of research with no definate thoughts yet - would like a couple for the orchard/vegetable area, and then just dotted through the garden. We've got the guys coming in to start work on the greenhouse in September and I can get them to make up what I need once it is decided on the design - there will be scrap timber.
Seeds. Oh, yes, those lovely little things we all lust after. I'll put those on my list too - gawd, I'm definately slooping off to LaLa land right now, my focus on paper. Ichhhhh.
Yes it is Monarda " Marshall's Delight"
You do sound like you are already taking the time off, LOL
Can't wait to see the plans on the GH I love yours already.
Hugs Tills
Hmmmm, plans. Ah. Those things they put on paper and work to. Noooo, our guys don't do that. In fact the current ones were built sort of off the cuff - Neville, our carpenter at the time was working out the roof pitch, told me to stand at one end put my arm up. Okay, he said, now I know how high it is. Kevin measured my wheelbarrow do decide on the door. Sadly, both of those guys are gone now. BUT we have Kevin and Tom now (they are bringing in another chippy to run out the wood - yes, we don't actually buy the wood in the right size, we have it run out). It doesn't change much, but they do have the existing one to make the plans from.
Over here a chippy is a very naughty girl. ^_^
Tilly, your dahlias and clematis are lovely. Seems like you have something going in every season. I love those little native froggies. Your creek is a special place to give them a haven in the midst of this drought.
Laurie, are you expanding your greenhouse? You know we all lust after it already.
Thats is what they call the real carpenters, don't need a tape measurer, just a gauge to see how tall how wide LOL Thats how things happen here.
If you don't want your old one, Please pack it in a box and mail it to me ^_^
Thanks Holly, its been so dry here, the creek is barely running thats where all my water comes from for the yard. But I did take the forsite and a little insight from Laurie. On water barrels. I bought 2 one is a 35 gal that I have by my GH. Ans another that is 55 Gal. that is up in Woodland. Forgot to get a pic. But my DH did a really good job of making it look woody. LOL
Willow LOL I have never heard that term but it sure is colorful!
Tills every time I see pics of your garden I admire the woodland quality it has. Very nice.
Looks like you took it in the secret garden. Wasn't there a robin in there? Really neat looking.
Tills, you are spot on about the Chippy - and I love the barrels. Absolutely marvellous.
WW, isn't it amazing how such small words in the same language can mean such different things! Excellent, but I will take great care not to call an American Carpenter a chippy.
I will tell my DB that he is a chippy and see what he says. ^_^
