Let's Talk Turkey - Thanksgiving Edition

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. LOL

Its makes ash that can fly around? Its like the TV why is it a dust magnet? I would like to know.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

The TV is a worm hole so it sucks things in like your brain and dust. Fireplace ash floaters I think is the work of gremlins but I'm not entirely convinced about that.

Wood Nymphs

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

TV attracts dust because of the static electrical charge it holds.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Pixie you are so all over that! Wood nymphs is obviously the correct answer. Victor I don't believe in static electricity I think the dryer sheet peoples made it up as a marketing ploy. I do a mean magician mini-lightning thing though in the wintertime.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor is right it's static electricity.
Static was invented when I was a grader. We used to blow up a balloon and rub it on the carpet, then hold it up to our hair to watch it stand on end. Used to howl for hours, even scared my baby brother.
I'm sure of this because I did it.
Wood nympths are responsable for ash dust ,I have seen them in the air when the sun shines across the livingroom .
They only work duering the day.

DH likes gadgets. We have a garbage can that opens when you get near it. It attracts dust like crazy, I'm always dusting the lid.

NORTH CENTRAL, PA(Zone 5a)

On that garbage can.............ground it. Take a single wire give it a twist around the handle and run the wire to a water line and tape it to the copper water line. End of magic and the dust too.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

O I wonder where the handydandy nutgrinderslicerdicer went ? ( hide it debilu. I hide some gadgets and eventually they are forgotten. Of course I confess that I did it )

Poultry beat us by 50 posts for top spot. I guess that can be expected since we just had Thanksgiving - lots of talk by the birds on hiding techniques!

Twisted Brother should appear!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Twisted Sister did it Thanksgiven Day to boost the number of posts. Plus Victor I am not realated to you :-) Its your turn!

My six year old son requested some 'me time' the other day!

On a very different note, a report came out today that reported that one in five teens is posting x-rated photos online or sending them on their cell phones. Scary stuff.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Geez.glad mine are all grown up! ^_^
My condolence's to the rest of you with young children, your battle is getting larger by the day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes it is.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Wow. I heard recently about someone who lost a cell phone w/X rated pics on it and the finder posted them on line.

If someone is that stupid, I would say they deserve it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Maybe they were just trying to find the owner?^_^

If they were and they did that, then they would still be stupid. IP numbers/Internet can be traced.

Thomaston, CT

Isn't that the truth! Why are people so stupid? Always looking for "kicks"---they should volunteer at a soup kitchen or a hospital.

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I too wonder ALOT about some of this stuff. Where is the joy in that? Sorry I'm in my time of the dark and the cold interspective thing. Only 11 more sleeps til spring and then I won't be so gloomy.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Oh, sure, Dahlia, if you want to call it spring. I know, the sun will be coming back, but it will only be starting to come back. We still will have a long wait. In the mean time we'll all be going stir crazy. It won't be spring for me until I see the crocuses blooming sometime in March.

Karen

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

Well nutsfordaylily just come on over to the Rocky Mountain Forum because we decided that spring starts at solistice with celebratory feasting, dancing, refreshing cocktails and general mayhem. (or perhaps I decided and they're just workin with me).I will start seeding and start prepping for the 'Wakening of the Dahlias Festival in March'. Work with me nuts. BTW are you a descendent of the nut family? We could be cousins ^_^ Three are three branches - nuts, rocket scientists and rocks. I'm a descendent of the rocket scientist branch which is why I'm working on the weather transporter ^_^. There is a cousin on the P&LS forum who is a descendent of the rock branch. Isn't this too exciting! I might have found a long lost cousin!!!

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Dahlia, your funny. I guess there are a lot of nuts in my family. My mother was nuts for daylilies like me, my Dad is nuts for music, my sister in Alaska is nuts for flying, my mother's father was nuts for boating, and so on and on it goes. We're all nuts for something in our family. The whole famn damily is nuts!

Karen

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I KNEW it. Your fam are definitely descendents of the nut fam from the nuts branch which are nuts about many different things. How exciting cousin!!
