OK-so if a baggie says Critter you will know-that is all I wanted...I really did think you got my name wrong and were calling me Sue;)LOL
CLOSED: Fall Frenzy Piggy Swap #6
Ahhhh.........thanks Fairy - I only need enough for one plant as well. sharing oinks!
wouldn't it be funny if DG had sound and you could hear us all snorting and oinking??
oh yes and don't forget the squealing!! lol!
My grandpa raised piglets when I was a little girl and I LOVED trying to catch those cute little things. Never could. They're quick!
OK -- seed pimping time.... the seed of the day is
Brazilian Bachelor Buttons Centratherum intermedium
these look nothing like "Bachelor Buttons"
they are a bushy Tender Perennial hardy in zones 8 and higher.. .approx 24" tall and 18-24 wide
Pretty lavender blooms, that bloom til frost.
They attract bees and butterflies
Have aromatic scent to the leaves.
Drought tolerant, so suitable for Xeriscaping
here's the link ==> http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/713/
That would be hiliarious ..... I can just hear us all now. I feel like my oinking has already started because Cheles_garden was generous enough to agree to send me some sunflower seeds I was wanting - BEFORE this feeding frenzy started ....and I got my envelope in last night and I think I counted 15 packets ....such goodies!!! It was like Christmas at my house...... my husband just looked at me and said you have GOT to be kidding.... (he still can't believe that people share their goodies on DG!)....then he asked WHAT I was going to do with all the seeds I have coming..... LOL I told him he better get busy on new beds. I had been after him to "lets do a new bed here " " lets do one here" etc and he kept saying we couldn't afford enough plants at one time to fill them up..... So I am planning several new beds and without having to spend a fortune to make my yard pretty. Thanks to you ALL so much for sharing ....
Oh, and on the deer, I used to hunt all the time - it is my husband that doesn't hunt.... but I don't hunt anymore, I just let my boys go. I enjoyed going with my Dad but it didn't seem as fun when I started having to go by myself. LOL But I was laughing at your comments about not going to the garage - when my daughter called me yesterday afternoon to tell me he had killed a deer she informed me she WOULD NOT step outside until I got home for fear she might SEE it.... She is the funny one - she went to a friend's house YEARS ago and came home after eating deer steak giving her brother (her oldest one - not the one who killed his last night) a hard time because he hadn't killed a deer - and she sure "loved" that deer steak!! Then when he did kill a deer she saw it after he had shot it and she won't even EAT the deer steak now..... ^_^ Silly girl................
Thanks again everyone for helping me get such a great start on my yard....hopefully next year at this time I will have lots more seeds to swap!!
Genna
I looked at that and thought it was cute - but I was a little concerned about the invasive part................ I don't have time to have to fight plants in my gardening.... ??
Genna - glad you got your envie! Merry Christmas! :-)

Oooohhh, what a wonderful shot of that milkweed! I think I already asked for some... LOL... if not, I'm oinking!
I inexplicably lost my white milkweed plants (A. incarnata) last year, so am restarting them (have some seeds from the year before, fortunately), and I really want to add pink ones also! The blooms are great, and it's such fun if the butterflies find them -- all those cute fat munching cats!
Oh gardengus, If I can jump on this train an request some of that Pink Milkweed too please. Thats if you have some more:-) Thanks! Andrea
toofewanimals, my bad, I say with a pink face lol I thought you were offering seeds to the Lavender lol Hey, it's a swap lol I'm going to check Burpee's out I think I have some other seed in mind to order from them too :) That's what I get for skimming and trying to catch up lol
Thanks for the Larkspurs Neal :)
Oh, I would love to have some pink milkweed if there is any left as well...... Sorry - i really MUST quit looking at these lists!! and pictures!! and dreaming of more and more flowers!! I don't know if I can get that many flower beds ready before spring!! ^_^
After raising hogs for 16 years I guess they just rubbed off on me!!
Genna
Just added to my have list (3 available) - japanese anemone, pale pink with yellow in center - lovely late season bloomer. Grows to about 3' or so in flower. As these seeds are teeny, will come in the cottony stuff that surrounds them.
Hi Sharon,
I guess I'm feelin' pretty porky today. Could I have one of those japanese anemones, please?
Tonya
Sure Tonya. gruntin' back.
Gypsy and gen I am out of the pink milkweed ...but let me see if there are any still clinging outside..
Does anyone know if they (seeds) are still good after a hard frost ?
Sharon- may I have one of the jap.anemone Please
Gardengus, your name's on the anemone.

Oink Oink!
No problem.... it isn't like I dont have plenty of seeds coming. I am still waiting on my seeds to arrive from Summerhill so that I can get them divided out to send it. I need to go back and read the beginning of this thread to see when we are supposed to send them - and to where............
Thanks everyone!
Genna
oh, we cross posted .... I LOVE THE LINK....... sounds just like me...uh, I mean THEM!!
Genna
gardengus, the milkweed seeds should be fine they reseed so even a freeze shouldn't hurt them, I know I've used them after a frost but not a freeze.
I need to do my milkweeds in the fridge and see what I have in there lol It's going to be such a mess cleaning them in the house lol The kittens will go nuts! It's too cold to take them outside 20 degrees!
I will never catch up had important thingd to do and thought I could catch up now and fema coming. I hope they will help if not I would rather be here.
Lynn IF you end up with anymore Hot Lips Salvia Pretty Please
And I saw someone may get some more black and blue Salvia. IF you do Pretty Please
I have some more I found I want to OINK for but got to go for now.
Thanks everyone. Pray he is nice and sees a need.

Haha! love the sound link! thanks KL!
You got me, Therese, sign me up for the buttons please!
And Mamawk, can I have the monarde citriodora too please!
Thanks for the good information
In that case I DO have enough pink milkweed to cover gen 2026 and mygypsyrose ^_^
perenniallyme, if you still have some Japanese anemones, I'd love to try them.
Just an FYI-all of my OP seeds I can not speak to any guarantee of being true...also, I do my best to get as much chaff as possible, but some seeds will have osme chaff-I did note on my Zebrina malva that there would be chaff as they are still in their pods...
Has everyone seen that there is an interest thread going for heat mats and thermostat coop? Yippee! I've been planning on buying one anyway, saved some bday money :)
you are too funny-we were chatting about that yesterday and home made ones and such;)
lol, I skimmed yesterday, trying to catch up! Sorry!
I thought the coops were banned .... did they open them back up again?? I can't keep up either.
Totally off topic - but does there happen to be any people on this thread that know a lot about camellias? I am needing some advice/input and I can't find a camellia forum on here.....??
thanks!
Genna
Oh and forgot to say thanks gardengus for the pink milkweed....
Genna
Gemini, the last of the anemone seeds are yours.
Genna, you may want to try the Mid-South forum or perhaps Trees and Shrubs for advice on your camelia.
Thanks perenniallyme!
Well, I am on midsouth all the time .... I will ask for some input there. But I didn't think to look in the trees and shrubs...(obvious I know)..... will try that as well.
Thanks
Genna
toofew, I just realized I hadn't gotten back to you on the dianthus. I would like to try the D.deltoides. Thanks!
ILoveJesus, I will add you to my list for Hot Lips and Black & Blue. I will go check on them today for those elusive little buggers.
tcs, May I have some of your Brazilian Bachelor Buttons? They are very pretty.
