CLOSED: Fall Frenzy Piggy Swap #6

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

If not, no worries... I can always pick up a commercial pack... do you think they'll stay short if grown from seed?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

It will?? Ooh, LeBug... do you have a few more 'Dawn Pink' seeds? I got a tuber last year but killed it early on. Hopefully I'll be able to keep a closer eye on my garden this year!

Browns Mills, NJ(Zone 6b)

LeBug...
May I try your Canna Dawn Pink please?
Thanks:-)

Edmond, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh Lala - thanks for the dawn pink info - Yea! Now we're all slopping in LeBug's trough. Hee hee.

Fairy, I'd love your Jap MG mix. Thanks!!

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

Oh Bestest Fairy, Do you have any of the silver wave petunias left? BTW, looking at my yard, people would have to guess that petunias are one of my favorite plants. I started some from commercial seed last year, didn't plant them out until late June - was afraid to put my "babies" out in the big world, and they grew better than any of the petunias I purchased from starts - big or small. That set the hook for starting my own this year. I am so happy that I won't have to get a bigger mortgage to pay for my addiction. My gardens will definitely be more interesting now.

Thanks

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Lea, I've added the larkspurs to your baggie.

Fairy, you feel free to toss anything in my little baggie that you think would be good for that big wildflower field :-) Actually all that you listed sounds really good! I'll take a look at the dianthus varieties and let you know which ones- I was distracted while looking at your list, thanks for reminding me!

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Fairy Tagged your pink milkweed

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

Fairy, yep, I'll take the dianthus too!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Lynn-I will try to send you a few seeds at least:) They are from a commercial pack I got at Lowe's I think

Edmond, OK(Zone 7a)

Gardengus - can I try your pink milkweed? With 3 little girls....pink is the favorite color around here. :-)

Trenton, MI(Zone 5b)

Danita, Thanks so much! I'm a smiling happy piggy!

fairy - the silver petunia is soooo temping .... I loved how it looked in all the Store hanging baskets last year. I have enough petunia seed for now, but oh, how nice it looked!

toofew

Orrville, OH(Zone 5b)

LeBug- No on more castor beans

Fairy- yes for the delphimiums

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm interested in any of the shorter dianthus, the ones with foliage almost like short grass, often blue-green or silvery. It seems to be a very tough plant once established, grows well from seed, and makes a great edger or "filler" plant.

I think most of the ones I'm thinking of are probably "cheddar pinks," Dianthus gratianopolitanus.

Greenville, IN(Zone 6a)

Critter, I gotcha :)

La, I was just going thru lists lol I'll take them off thanks :) I always thought those canna seeds wouldn't come true, that is soo cool! Thanks for that info. La!

Chele, my list is meant for piggies like you LOL

I have one more Dawn Pink canna left :)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

critter-several of the ones I grew from seed this year had that foliage-have to go outside and look first to see which ones-and not a one is a normal cheddar pink....

Winchester, KY(Zone 6a)

That sounds great Fairy. I luvs me some dianthus, lol.

Trenton, MI(Zone 5b)

Critter and Neal, you may want to peek at my Dianthus also.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Toofew, I think I remember asking for the 'Microchip Mix' if it's still available... my bad, I think I probably posted and didn't Dmail you. Please?

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

JIll... i bought Microchip [Burpee] 2 yrs ago... i have some seeds from my plants if you want them.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Terese, I've got some Microchip in my front bed (and I love them) that I actually started at the townhouse and brought with me when we moved. I have tried to start seeds from them without success, and I wondered if perhaps they were sterile... Have you been able to start seeds from yours?

Flora, IN(Zone 5a)

Cheles - garden, Maybe on the pink milkweed I need to look and see if I can find more. I should have saved more there were a ton of seeds that I just let blow away . Didn't know I would be in such a swap. I did write you down and will let you know as soon as possible.
Cinda

Edmond, OK(Zone 7a)

That's ok Cinda.....I have plenty of milkweed - just haven't ever had pink. It's not a big deal, I have been a piggie in this swap. Oink!

Leesburg, FL(Zone 9b)

Jill -- no, i havent tried... this was the first year i saved seeds.

guess it's something i need to experiment with.

Menifee, CA(Zone 9a)

What a busy day you've all had. I don't know about warming trays, or winter sowing, but I suspect that's because of where I live. That rope light trick sound like a great idea for starting plants early. I might try it myself, just to see if works. I've never had the leisure to grow just flowers for fun before. Although I usually don't kill what is given to me. Most of my experience has been with food plants, and trees. I am getting better about catching up with the thread. I am learning more every day. This has been fun!
Well, I'm off to update my list.
Catch up with you tomorrow, pant, pant, pant! : )

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Oh darn,..... I see where I missed out on all of Danita's salvias...... I will have to be more alert! :-) But then I have been a total piggy anyway.

My son killed his first deer today ( a 7 pt buck) and guess who got to help get him in the truck and skinned. THANK GOODNESS one of the guys that I work with was willing to show him how to skin it! So I was absent from the computer for a while....

I will have to make sure he knows what I "sacrificed" for his hunting endeavor ...LOL

Genna

Camden, AR(Zone 8a)

Meant to add that I will have to add that peach salvia to my want list..... it is one of the prettiest salvias I have seen. Danita, does yours look that good in real life??

Thanks!!
Genna

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

gen2026, congratulations to your son, and big hand to you. I couldn't have done it. My ex and our 3 sons hunted every year. I wouldn't go out in the garage while they were hanging. I did help wrap, but that was it.

GA, GA(Zone 7b)

I like seed hunting better! :)

Buckley, WA(Zone 7b)

ME TOO!!!

's-Gravenhage, Netherlands(Zone 8b)

Fairy, they're all yours. Chocolate aquilegia included. Must have overlooke it.
The monarda is more than welcome! Thanks!

Trenton, MI(Zone 5b)

I know there was some discussion about Lavender at the Cottage Garden site, sooo I listed my hardy, taller Lavender. Mine has not bloomed, just planted it last year.

Anyone for Lavender augustifolia 'Provence Blue'

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thank you Lala, Tuink and Gardengus!!

Gardengus-I only need enough seeds to get one plant, so I can share with cheles...

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

Fairy.

Ella-Can I please have some Diascia and Lady's Slippers??

Got ya down. : )

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

THANKS!!!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

So, if I understand correctly, Ella-you will give the extra seeds to those that need them like newbies and charities, so we need to send you an extra dollar or two to help out?? THat is great!!!

Also, can I use shortened versions of names, like critter, Gemini, Lynn, instead of the full names on some long ones?? On the baggies I mean...

Mount Laurel, NJ(Zone 7a)

Fairy.. That the extra seeds, after all the wishes and wants and stuff have been met from the group here. There always loads of extra seeds folks have, don't want to go to waste and can be used by somebody who can.

Those listed in the storm victim sections DO Not Send postage for their return box. Their seeds to them are all gifts from all of us.

Sue you can use shortened names, I do so myself, but if possible use their Dg name cuz we have a couple of folks here with the same first name. Like think it is the Sharons.

Got a major full blown head cold and fever still goign on here , so not thinkign to clearly yet. But do know we have some same first names.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I am not Sue, but thanks for answering my ??:) I will use shortened DG names, but I think if I put Ella on yours you will know:)

Seale, AL(Zone 8b)

LOl.. Sorry about that Fairy, should have read Sure. Hahahah . On a day like today it debatable. : )
