Betty, do you play Wii? We don't have one of those, but we just got a PS3 and a new computer game, so if I disappear it's probably due to geek addictions.
BEST/WORSE & WHAT DID I LEARN TODAY - PT.70
No Laura, Greg has 2 boys and Jeff has 2 boys...they have alll the toys, games, PS# etc. saw the Wii and have heard it's very interacting more so then the other systems..because there is nothing else to buy..lol..I'll pick up one for Jeff's and then another for Greg's boys..not as many gifts under the tree for them at those prices but I'm sure they'll appreciate as will they for their Paramont Wonderland Theme park season passes...getting to that age where #'s of presents aren't as important as quality of one..at least I'm hoping that...
I never give up, I'm just the queen of procrastination!
OMG - we bought a Wii 2 weeks ago and it is a BLAST! We're going to do friday Wii nights! Right now we just have the game that came with the console but we rented Wii Music from Blockbusters and my DS had all the neighbor boys over with their own Wii controller having a jam session. I was quite funny! I want to get Wii play so I can do the "Cow racing" The first time I played that I almost peed in my pants from laughing so much! It's also great exercise. After 1 day, my arms hurt like the dickens from "boxing". I have the Wii Fit on my Xmas list.
Jeannine, I'm so laughing can just see you at it..I know nothing about the system..know a friend of mine bought herself one to excersice to..I was wondering because it is so interactive when you do it, does for example it look as though you are walking in it 3'd???
Tried to look up more info on it, but didn't find any, at least any that describes what it does, but then I don't need to know what it does..last year one of the gifts was guitar hero..see that it plays it as well but would assume you have to purchase guitars again for this particular unit..always a money grab...
From your description I'm sure they'll love it...
How is Sailor girl doing? puppy stage, getting into mischief or is Murphy keeping her in line?
Kids got their Christmas list ready yet? bet you are bitting your nails waiting for that one?
no - basically, you have a "character" you create on the screen (a Wii Mii) and he/she is what you see BUT, your actions control your person on the TV. So in bowling, I have the handheld thingy in my hand and I swing my arm like I'm bowling. You then see the ball go down the lane and hit the pins. Same for tennis; you swing your arms like you have a racket in your hand and your guy on the screen hits the ball. We've got baseball, golf and boxing. It's really a lot of fun!!!! especially if your with friends drinking! LOL
If you go to You Tube, they have videos of the different games.
Wii is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fun! I want one for myself but I'm going to look and see what kinds of stuff are out there. We don't have kids so I want to kind of eleminate that stuff, like guitar hero lol!
Sounds like I need that for the exercise! You can do it sitting down!
SO laughing Audrey..that's about the kind of excersize (must be tired-can't even figure out how to spell) I get..sitting type..who knows maybe I'll have to pick myself up one - after Christmas that is..
Jeannine sounds like the thing to have at a party..can only 2 play???going to have lunch then I'll go check u tube, not even sure on internet how you find it..guess you just key it in right???
Got take out at Vaughan mills, chicken/ribs/mashed potatoes..didn't eat there though..went to get 2 more of those Christmas Quilt Lap tops..my SIL Lorraine's birthday-having get together Sat. night so they live in a mobile home park-although they have 3 bedrooms there is not a lot of room for what Robert would call 'junk' so thought the throw would look lovely on her couch..mom saw mine the other day and loved it, bought her one as well..with what I have already for her and the Elvis Gospel cd and now the lap top, she's done...on to more..as I said I challenged myself..all done by Dec.1st so I can enjoy...
I wonder if they have some sort of exercise game, like Jazzersize LOL!
You'd type it in like this:
youtube.com
You might be able to find something on Ninento's website too.
Man, these bank statements are killing me today, I'm on my 3rd one and I can't find anthing that balances on any of them. My goodness!
Thanks Crissy...hard when all you see is figures..I've spent part of the morning painting, part of the afternoon getting tel #'s of previous clients to advise them of our move and new #'s..still more to be done but don't need it all done TODAY... and now sewing..lol
Forget to go out and look for branches for staffs for workshop tomorrow..I'm sure my neighbors will be talking..3rd time in a week that the Ontario Provincial Police vehicle has visited my house..
Rita who is married to an officer who patrols the area goes home for lunch, she went out and found some and on his patrol he'll drop them off..last week it was to pick up paints and a few days before, Rita had forgotten bags from Frankenmuth so he came to pick them up..lol..
45 minutes..just heard Suzanne say she'd meet a client in Barrie so guess I'll pay a visit to Michaels and yep Walmart while she does her meeting..
LOL.....Betty, sounds like you are getting reputation in the neighborhood! My neighbors all just call me if there is anything strange going on.....we were friends with a few local police officers who got me hooked on listening to the police scanner. I generally have one or more going so I get these calls, "what is going on at such and such place, there are police cars there?"
I didn't mention that finding staffs for the Santas is not a problem for me......every time we go out with Sage or with the Dog they both want to drag home every branch they see!! Keeps my kindling supply well stocked!!
LOL, well maybe if neighborhood kids know I'm friends with O.P.P. and they drop in they'll do no damage to my house..not that I've ever had any done but others in the neighborhood have..
In the back bush at the house I could have found mega staff's..kept procrastinating and now look what happened..snow/snow and more snow...
Here's the weather advisory for on the way home..yuk
SNOWSQUALL WARNING: Barrie - Orillia - MidlandIssued at 3:57 PM EST THURSDAY 20 NOVEMBER 2008
ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT SNOW SQUALL EVENT TO THE LEE OF THE GREAT LAKES TONIGHT THROUGH TO SATURDAY. THIS IS A WARNING THAT SNOWSQUALLS ARE IMMINENT OR OCCURRING IN THESE REGIONS. MONITOR WEATHER CONDITIONS..LISTEN FOR UPDATED STATEMENTS.
I heard that one of the retirement communities here bought several Wii for the residents. They can bowl, play crochet, bachee and other games on it and get their exercise in a fun way. Ain't it great to get old? If the meals are anything like at my Dad's place, and they have an exercise room, pool, fully equiped wood working shop as well as someone to come in and clean. Where do I sign Up?
But I would really miss my garden...
Janice, was telling my kids I really should look into one of those beautiful facilities..I could teach crafts for payment of my room...lol.. maybe they have gardens..
Well we're off..let's hope roads are clear..
Betty, have a safe trip home....
what does "to the lee of the great lakes" mean??
Dashing through....
Waving Hello,
Gita, So glad you were able to help the Neighbor lady. A nice story.
Betty, yow, you be careful in all the travels.
Work has been busy, cards...a couple of rush big orders.
And sigh, packed the rest of my desk today, geesh i have a lot of stuff and i tossed a ton away. LOL, I figure which ever way the wind blows, i am ready with a clean slate, or I walk away leaving everthing nice and organized. Only thing they have to do, is dump, the promotional stuff, and that is neat and tidy. The only thing I have to grab is my flag!
LOL, was wondering if they would miss one of my hydrolic tables, ROFLOL, I guess they would, best leave it.
Well i hope you al had a good, busy day.
I am running late, so see you later!
Hi everyone, just a fly by to say hello!
Judy,
You should ask them what they are going to do with the tables. When IBM downsized in Manhattan, they tossed out desks, chairs, staplers, filing cabinets, all kinds of office equipment, that was perfectly good.
I haven’t gotten my old files moved over, so I can’t check to make sure I have the name right, so please forgive me if I call you by the wrong name; I’ve never been good with names.
Betty, we’re considering the same thing, but I am somewhat worried about how active those games get and the limited space we have to play them in.
Janice, maybe you should set up a retirement community gardening project so it’ll be well established when you want to move over. They were talking about that on Who will be raising our food? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/924220/
I am worried-I hope Betty made it home OK.....
Not to worry Stacey, did get home ok..wasn't snowing but is now..please say a little prayer in hopes the roads are nice tomorrow for all the girls coming to Coldwater for the workshop are able to make it..
Ran a little late because Suzanne met clients in Barrie for Counselling and dropped me off at Michael's..nice place to wait for someone..of course a few things came home with me..
Now that almost all my santa's and workshops are done I want to get into cards...soon be time to post and I've not nearly enough ...had a 50% of an item voucher so picked up a candy cane cutter so I can make some for the cards on my sticker machine...by the time I get all the supplies/equipment Christmas will be gone, but then there is always next year right?
Am off just to pack the things I'll need for tomorrow..I swear there is a hammer thief who lives in this house...keep buying hammers, no hammers and do need one for the hammering of nails..so off I go in search of one...
Thanks for thinking of me Stacey..always nice to know someone cares if you make if home or not...
Not going to say night/night as I'm not sure what time I'll get to bed tonight..think I'm fairly organized though..
LOL I know how it is about the police officers. My mom's a retired Community Service Officer for the police department so there were always police cars at my house. My grandparents was worse cause my mom's niece was also a Community Service Officer, so if they could get lunch at the same time they would meet at my grandparents, police cars all over the place. Then you add the guy that used to live across the street from them drove an ambulance, when he was home with the ambulance and add a couple of cop cars to the equation, man everyone was showing up asking questions, it was hilarious!! Sometimes if they were off duty and someone happened to drive by and see either one of their personal cars outside, they would stop to visit. I used to dig it!
Betty, we want to know:
what does "to the lee of the great lakes" mean??
Betty, so glad to you all are safely home.....if you figure out who or what hides all the hammers please let me know....I would love to know where mine all disappear to!!
.
Will say a little prayer that the snow doesn't interfere with your workshop....maybe you clould send it here for a few hours??
Would also ask a prayer or two for my Laura's in-laws. Her husbands stepfather has been in ill health and complications from diabetes for some years. It is reaching the critical stage now and he is not expected to make it through the coming year. They are several hours drive from here so they don't get to see them very often......we are working on plans so they can visit next week and also drive up and spend Christmas with Sean's family.
Sending prayers Trisha...
The hammer thief was at least tidy and organized, hung them up along with the tools in the back room...then this morning under the shelving unit of my stained glass area there sat 2..panic now over..
First thing I did this a.m. was look for snow..so far none..the weatherman last night though did say another big front was on it's way..I can only h ope that front doesn't arrive till maybe 1:30 this aft.
Waving to all...must get everything ready for the car, check to see I'm not forgetting anything, in to Midland for Tim Horton donuts for all and at the facility for 9am..
I can do it...lol...
Drive safely dear Betty!!! And we have been asking, think you musta missed it...what does "to the lee of the great lakes" mean-it was in the weather bullatin (sp?)
crissy...
Here is the definition of 'lee' as it pertains to weather.
This is quoted form the Weather Encyclopedia.
LEE/LEESIDE/LEEWARD
The side of an object or obstacle, such as a ship's sail, a mountain, or a hill, furthest away from the wind, and therefore, protected from the direct force of the wind. The opposite of windward.
.........................................................................................................................................................
Good description Carol, thanks..wasn't sure what they meant either...
So far so good weather wise..
I'm all packed, everything at the door, thought I'd see what time Walmart opens..usually it's 8am but hoping it could be 7am..going to get out of my jammies, get dressed hoping everyone will show up AND that I haven't forgotten anything..purchased a whole lot of embellishments, even have burlap to make little bags if they want to do pressents or trees within..beads, ribbon..so let's hope they are satisfied with their project..have an extra 6 with me just incase someone decides to make an extra one..sometimes happens..lol
SO off I go, do enjoy your day...
Have a good time Betty..got your camera? LOL
Good Morning all...
Betty, hope the workshop is a big success!
Be safe.

Speaking of weather, 24* here this morning! BRRRRR!!!!
Speaking of weather I haven't checked ours. But it is cold and frosty.
Liz we finally caught the mouse in the kitchen. Now I think there is one here in the back room. Oh Gross! I will set the trap back here and hope for the best. Then it will go in the basement. Then upstairs. The cats even caught one in the garage. I just wish they couldn't multiply so fast. Wonder what it would take for mouse birth controll. LOL
Betty we have been cold and windy here with some flurries mixed in. Today no wind so that will be much better.
Judy I hope you get the pieces you want. You are such a ray of sunshine.
Have to get going and check a couple of other threads. DH just left a bit ago for his hunting week. All is quiet here until tomorrow when I hear gunshots. I hate having to go outside and being careful!
Can I just say......again..... I WANT SOME SNOW....please
GG, Suffolk, VA is having a blizzard, maybe it will head up to Richmond next! Keep your fingers crossed, LOL!
LOL...Ves. Yikes hope ya catch that mouse. Had one in the kitchen not long ago, made me jump! Had DH, set the trap...He is so funny, gets as excited as Liz about catching them, UHhh, I sure can go without seeing tho, and lol his favorite is telling me what he used to catch the dang thing, do I care?? LOL.
Hey and Best luck to DH for hunting!! And thanks about pieces, keeping fingers crossed.
OMG Liz, ROFLOL, you need ACME TNT...had to laugh because first thing i thought of was the coyote on roadrunner!! As for the table, I would love to have it for my craft table, it's hydrolic so, could raise or lower it to what height is need for what I'm working on at the moment...would be real cool! PLUS...It is wide enough to fit a yard of material...Speaking of which, Nice find!
LOL, reminds me of the song...Three blind mice, three blind mice/ been a while since i hummed to ya!
heheh, Bev... I do get you Daragonflys, mixed up periodically.
Thank you for the suggestion Terri!
Hey bbl, I am starving, can hear tummy?
