Just moved us over from here...

Starting us off on this new thread with good news...

Not only will I be off this Friday for my Christmas workshop but Paul just said while the packing was going on the Friday after I'd be working from home that day and the week thereafter..so that only leaves me 6 days more travelling to the city...isn't that just grand! Best thing, I can do my meat pies, cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, gift wrapping etc. while waiting for the telephone to ring...

I'm up and doing the happy dance and waving....

You bet your doing the happy dance, Betty. That is wonderful. You can even work in your jammies...I know you like that! Have applesauce cake and coffee right in your own kitchen. This could not happen at a better time so you can fill those days with more of the things you do best...crafts.

Yes, just the thoughts of not taking the highway to the city is treat enough..but yes, I can be so organized...

Was just telling Suzanne that I was talking to the boys and in order to make things easier for them I really should do Christmas Eve rather than Christmas Day..with travelling/hockey/family commitments is just so much pressure on everyone..

Know I'm waiting patiently on mom as to what she plans on doing but was just thinking, depending on my allowance/budget that perhaps I might just take off on my own, travel south and end up where I end up..that way I could have Christmas a few weeks earlier and on closing day, hit the road...so now I will think further on that one...soooo would do it, only thing is the weather..if it were stormy I'd be fighting blizzards and I'd not like that..at lease blizzards for 3 or 4 states going south right?

My girlfriend in Florida, about 50 miles this side of Disney would love the company..so, it's time for decision...last year EVERYone gave me USA $$$$ if you recall and I so had fun!

Maybe Santa could tell them it's #1 on my list this year as well...lol

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Sounds good to me!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Taking a late lunch, have my USA map out with everyone's names/addresses....

I came to the conclusion that you all have 1 month in which to move closer to I75 area so I can drive, have coffee with each and on to the next...lol

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty so happy for you.....I have done the commuting thing in the past and did not care for it at all!!! Especially in bad weather.......and I have discovered that over the years other drivers have not improved at all!!!

Will try my new mold in the next few days (thanks for the recipe) and will let you know how it turns out....I think I will enjoy the painting.....my Aunt and Uncle had a plaster craft business when I was little....I think I was four when I painted my first piece. My mom did wood crafts for many years and I did quite a bit with her until she had back surgery in '96. After that I got her started doing Card making and rubber stamping and created a monster! Card making is an obsession with her now....she would love your ribbon cards!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure why, almost had an entire post typed and it just blinked and gone!

Was telling you Trisha that I sent envelopes out to a few girls with the templates but am sure if she was to google 'iris folding' she couldprint some off the computer..if she needed help, I'd gladly impart what knowledge I have..sometimes it's not much...

I am excited to see a santa done with your mold..am sure you are great with painting..keeps mom out of mischief doesn't it? I should send a package to my mom see if she'd enjoy it..

Think today both she and aunt Muriel are off to the vets to see about the eye operation for the doggie..there goes my inheritance lol

Victoria Harbour, ON

Bringing Tombaak's post over..she's excited...

I'm so excited! [HYPERLINK@www.ireport.com]
Here is a tiny bit on me in conjunction with CNN's story about handmade gifts. :) :) :)

How about I do the link this way:

Didn't work...hmmm

Victoria Harbour, ON

Found the link Melissa but can't find the clip that you are so excited about???? help....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Thanks, I'll get some info for her.....I wish she would get a computer but she is convinced at 80 that she could never use one.....but she definitely does not have a problem with me using one for her...lol !! Now if it is something she Wants to Do her age is not a problem......

What would we do without our mum's to keep our blood pressure from getting too low???

I am quite excited to see how this works too......might even try one in polymer clay and see how that does.....would be faster!!............may try that when I get back from lunch!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Not sure how it would turn out, guess it's worth a try, but the recipe I gave is soooo easy!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Good Afternoon Ya'll!!!!

I can't find the clip either, Melissa. We want to see the clip lol!

I'm telling ya Trisha! I've been told "that's why they call them mothers!" LOL

I'm tired today and have 3 more days to go. I also learned that Dave and me are spending entirely too much money, like a grand over what we make a month. I'm going to have to tell him that we are going to have to slow down, after our Shreveport trip of course! LOL

Hooooray Betty, 6 more commuting days! I wish I could say that, then I would be bored sitting at home and have to find another job to support myself.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I think you are right......the poly does okay but it is difficult to get out and takes quite a bit of clay!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, how did I know you were going to say 'after Shreveport' lol
wow, that's an awful lot to be over every month..

Crissy not retiring, I travel 100 miles each way to work each and every day - 5 days a week...lots of travelling - not bad in the summer but terrible come winter..

Our office is moving to Barrie which really on a good day should only take 30 -45 minutes, longer when blizzards are in action sooo still able to do crafts at work..lol..

I will though be enjoying 6 working days at home while the office is being painted and rug put in..the I'll work 2 weeks and then off for 16 days at Christmas...

Mothers??? you are too young, but for us older gals, wonder what wonders are kids say about us??? do we want to know..

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha I think that the box of plaster of paris, well they range in price but most likely for the small one not more than $3 - $4.00 and then white glue, that can be purchased at the $$$ store...out of that I'm sure you'll get at least 18 faces..feel like making that many?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy must have been given a large order, haven't seen her on, either that or she's knee deep in 'santa's' lol

Counting...45 more minutes..

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I know your office is moving lol. I was just saying that if I were to quit commuting I would have to quit my job, not likely the state to move the office unless the building is closing or collapses. I drive 45 minutes a day.

Without mothers there would be no daughters or sons. Mothers of all ages are wonderful!

Sorry if I'm misrepresenting myself, or whatever that word is that I can't think of right now, the lady I work with has gotten on my nerves today and there was a cat fight earlier and I'm fed up, along with not having any money in the bank, so I'm not in the best of moods.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I still have plaster from a summer project back in the storage area somewhere, and I have a seven year old grandaughter, so glue everywhere!!! I won't get them all done for Christmas but just the ones I want to do for family members totals 12-14!!! And there are a few "chosen family" I would like to make one for.....some will have to be birthday, anniversary or Just Because gifts.

Victoria Harbour, ON

We all have those moods Crissy..nothing worse than working with someone who isn't a team player..been there, done that!

I found that being a Recreational Co-ordinator was one of the most taxing jobs I've ever had mainly because everyone (taxpayers) thought they were paying your wage and had say in the everyday operation of the Recreation Department..then to make matters worse, from spring to fall I had to work with all the cottage associations..came home at night just drained...

So word of advice, go home, hot bath, sit and enjoy a good movie..rest is what you need!

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

I don't know if this one will work.

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-149943

The whole thing is a bit confusing and annoying. I asked that the first feature, (just a quick blurb about how making a handmade gift turned into a business for me) be removed.

There were tons of comments but they were all linking to their sales page. And another bag maker went in and left the story one star so the rating fell. So many odd people in this world! I am hoping they don't find the new one :(

*** On an entirely different crafty note***

Does anyone have pictures or advice to share on making really cute gift boxes? A friend asked me if I knew how, she wants to present a friend her bridal jewelry in one.

So, I need some crafters advice.

Victoria Harbour, ON

SIL Suzanne is doing 14..just told her she had better add to the gift card, Merry Christmas Lenny/Suzanne and Betty.lol. I've cut them all, sewed them all, and now have gathered them all...if I keep this up I'll be doing the hair, what's left???? lol..

She so wants a Santa and Mrs. Claus suits as this year is the first year she has a grandchild..so I told her I'd make them and it would be their Christmas gift..more sewing and more santa red..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

We love our mothers in spite of it all.....and no, I don't think I want to know what my children say about me.......I know enough with what they Do tell me!!!!!

I know what you mean there Crissy.....no money in the bank or anywhere else for that matter! We are kind of pay check to paycheck right now.

Victoria Harbour, ON

That's the pitz Melissa...did try to check it out 3 or 4 times...and you were just so excited..

Will think about the gift box? hmmmm

How's Tori doing today..you still sleeping downstairs with her? She must be finding it difficult especially as she's not been able to participate in some of the scheduled activities...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, don't you think in this day and age most live in that manner..I'm lucky when I first retired that I got a municipal pension, then got Roger's death benefits and a small municipal pension he had earned (he worked for me for a few years..that wasn't good...lol) never knew who the real boss was!!!! and now I can apply for early CPP so at least until the Gmt. runs out of money I'm ok...

What I earn here just pays for my habit....crafts..lol

High Desert, NV(Zone 5a)

Yeah, Jeremy moved a bed into the living room and Tori and I are still sleeping there. She was up and around a tiny bit this morning. she is feeling better off and on, but still taking so many painkillers!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty that's true.....I know what you mean about working together.....Bill and I did that for quite awhile......he finally "fired me"........I still do a lot of things for him but we get along much better now!!!!

Melissa and Tori (((((hugs))))) to you both!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Must be needed for the pain though..makes her comfy..she gets her school work brought home I guess??? Has the school said anything else about the accident?...will they replace the equipment..so many quesitons....tell Tori I'm asking about her..saying a prayer for speedy recovery...

Just call 2 of my grandchildren..they've been away to Lake Placid for hockey tournaments..

Caleb who is 9 when I asked about his Christmas list said he'd have to think about it, not really anything he needs...

Braedon who is 12 said nothing as well, said "grandma, you know me, I sure like surprises' so that was a great help..

Jeff and Lisa said they'd not give me any clue as they have no idea what they will purchase themselves...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Trisha, when I worked with Roger and I showed that I WAS the boss, didn't take long when I got home he showed me HE WAS the boss!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty....must be a guy thing...lol!!

Oh my, I hear my mum hammering, wonder what she is re-arranging now? Decides to move things around, needs a different shelf...pops out to the garage grabs the wood and the power saws and makes one!!! But can't deal with a computer and just barely with a cell phone... LOL....figure that one out!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

We make and had enough built up to live fairly comfortability until Dave made several large withdrawals. I just want to know where the money went and when am I going to get it back?? It's enough to rent an apartment, paying first month and cleaning deposit.

I'm glad Tori moved around a little, hopefully in another week she'll be able to make it on less pain pills.

I'm stuck here until 5 so piddle, I'm going to eat some nuts I guess.

There is no way me and Dave could work together, our personalities would definately clash and probably cause a divorce. I wouldn't even try.

Nut for some nuts? LOL!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Just got a call from my heart Dr.s nurse. My test were abnormal, and he wants to see me next Wed. to discuss ways to handle it. I'm a little worried, now! Maybe that's why I'm so tired all the time!

Nilwood, IL(Zone 5b)

Will pray for you Doe!! I have wonderful news. First I want to thank all for praying for my ears. They are almost back to normal but the BIG NEWS now is MY Blue does not have heart worms!!!!!! Test was normal today YEAH!!!! He does have whip worms but that can be taken care of with meds. Thank God and thank all you good people. HUGS BEV

So glad that it is Good News for both of you!!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Fantastic news Bev...bet you are just so relieved..

Just got home, lordy it's cold out there..better get a heavier coat...

Audrey, do you think perhaps they mean that they will give you 'drugs' which shall help...know you are terribly worried but maybe try to stay calm at least until you've heard what he has to say...that's easier said than done...
Will include you in my nightly prayers...

Crissy, all those nuts gone?

Had a late lunch so decided no supper, almost tempted Ruby to take that other cake out of the freezer, but won't..

Wood to cut, need 25 santa bases..trying to talk myself out of cutting them and getting up earlier tomorrow morning...if I push myself maybe I get at least get 1/2 done tonight/half tomorrow..

Dropped into Barrie mall, picked up a couple of things for mom for Christmas, Suzanne also got a few things..we stopped at a music/game store and they have the WII, so I asked questions about the new game system and it sounds interesting..just put a call out to Jeff, will now call Greg and see if they think the boys would like it as a joint gift..one for Caleb and Braedon and the other for Kyle and Noah..that along with the 2009 season passes would finish them off...

Best get to work, if I sit much longer well that will be the end of what needs to be done..

Enjoy the evening

I think the photo contest winners are on your home page under Extras.

Thanks Carol, will go in search of both links tomorrow..calling it a night..tired/tired...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

She won and was runner up a lot! Yay!!!!!!

I'll have more nuts tomorrow, there's a big canister of them! Woo Hoo!!

I'm praying that they can correct your heart problem with as few meds as possible. That could be why you're tired all the time, your heart gives you energy, when it's not beating right you lose energy. That's what the dr said about my grandfather anyway, it makes sense.

Yay no heart worms!!

night night all, see ya tomorrow!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Night Crissy..still working..best get me to bed and rest....4:45 am comes quickly...

Sleep well my friends..
