Yuk! glad that it works for you though :-p
Todays Weather in Your Garden - 33
41 degree, sunny with a light breeze, 10mph. Big clouds to the east and north. But very pretty over the island. Still no freeze, DH picked some peppers and one lone tomato from the garden for dinner last night. No frost yet here. New roses out yesterday. We get an extended fall, but pay for it by staying much cooler in the spring. I will take the trade off. I can get in the holiday mood without the snow just yet. Patti
32 and mostly cloudy. Gets colder the rest of the week.
34 here , some sun peaking out for a change...hope it stays out!

Wow! Gabagoo, that patio of yours looks fantastic.
Karen
I am so pleased with what you did as a first year effort.
Really wonderful use of an area with no soil to speak of.
I agree---very artistic, Gabagoo. It's sunny here, but the high will be only 38---one of the warmer days this week! The snow belt got 2ft, Willie---we had pictures in our morning paper. Jo Ann & Deb---my brother is coming to your area next week---he lied to me & said his wife is driving---neither should be, but I hope it doesn't snow while they are there!
Well, we got our first two feet of snow over yesterday and last night. Here we go, darn. Way too early.
EEEgad they are driving?
You cant controle some people.
Polly. Thats a lot of snow.
Only people who love it are skiers, not drivers.
That's for sure. I didn't even go into work. I used to drive every day in it, averaging 300 miles per day, but now that I don't have to, I don't.
I used to get up at 4AM
Pick up the doctors RangeRover at the clinic
Drive an hour to Canandaigua Lake, wait for her
Drive an hour back to the city, just AM drive, someone else took her home.
In March duering heavy snows there re no plows out at 5AM so it was pretty hairy.
I was also glad to retire, about 7 years ago.
My territory when I worked for the state was St. Lawrence county. So often I had to go through the Tug Hill area, and spent a lot of time in the Adirondacks. I miss the job, though.
I know it can get pretty nasty around Canadaigua Lake. And the hills there!
Beautiful up in the St Lawrence area.
I used to spend sumers in the 1000 Islands.
You really can't beat the spring, summer, and fall up there. When I started working there in 1982, Ogdensburg, Massena, etc. had tremendous amounts of snow. When I retired two years ago, they were lucky if the got two feet over an entire winter. But cold, oh my gosh, it was cold.
The 1000 island area is gorgeous. Alex Bay is just wonderful.
Wow - two feet! You have my sympathy, Polly.
Thanks, Victor.
We weren't ready for it, either. And the upcoming weather is cold, so it's not going to melt quickly.
It's getting colder.... I haven't seen any flakes.
38 low of 26
Holly cow Polly! Two feet already, im so sorry!! I guess if your getting cold weather already you have to look at it as good coverage for your JI !
1st year?
LOL! JoAnn, I've been gardening here for 10 years.
It wasn't always that crowded though.
I started all that in 2002 - which was also the year I bought my 1st digital camera.
It was my "Therapy Garden". A relationship I was in had just ended & I plunged myself into pots & soil to keep my mind off it.
:oD
Here's 7 years worth:

Oh it's 32 now, dropping down to a low of 23 tonight.
Nancy I always love your pics, that huge red dahlia is gorgeous.
Do you have a irragation system or do you water all that by hand?
Just back from dropping the kids off. Very cold, windy and raw. 33 and going down to 22 overnight! Brrrr.
I like the cold it's the wind that gets to me.
I have 2 hoses - one in the front & one in the back (by the bench). It takes me about an hour to give everything a thorough watering.
Every year I tell myself that I'll set up something to water along the fence but I never get around to it. Usually because I'm broke.
:o)
gabagoo, I strayed over to your pictures and got lost. Nice trip. One photo taken the first year you had your digital camera (cover pic) is beyond striking. I have no idea what that is emerging from the hot pink sheath. I love the cemetery pictures too. Now I don't envy your having to store all those pots. I hate the day we have to move all our potted plants from the porches back to the GH, but it is just a lot of trips, no car involved. Plus I know I will have the plants all winter to enjoy. Only things still out side are some orchids that need to go down to a light freeze. Tonight might be the night.
My bulb planting day got interrupted with a tree planting which required a big pine to be felled and then carted off to a future burn pile. The new holly tree looks good. I'll post pictures later. Our tree got arrested as it was being carted to the house on a flat bed. No tail light. The tree had about a billion big red berries on it. Give the guy a break!
Blowing hard now at a steady 20 with gusts in the mid 30's. High today was about 44 and now 39. We had some very light rain mid day, but not enough to bother with a rain coat. Patti

Patti the holly picture you posted in the other thread is beautiful!!
Cold here.... 27°
Thanks, Patti!
The hot pink flower is a poppy. I love that pic.
The only things I store are the elephant ears, callas & dahlias (which I dig up), the tuber rose & canna (stay in their pots). They over winter in Mom's basement (she lives next door to me).
I bring in the hibiscus & take coleus cuttings.
The rest of the perennials stay out, in their pots.
I try to limit my perennials to ones that are hardy for my zone. I don't have space - or light - to keep things. During the winter months I get direct sunlight through 1 window... for about 1/2 hour. That's it. Come April, I'll start getting sun through the kitchen & office west facing windows. In the winter, the sun is too low & Mom's house blocks it.
The 2 biggest windows (MBR & LR) both face north, so no sun.
All the pots just get moved to the sides & back to leave room for the bird feeders.
Here's a pic from last Dec, when everything is done.
WOW!!!!!!!
and I thought I had a lot of containers.... you have way more than I do Gab
Patti verry nice job,the tree is fantastic.
Gagaboo I am so sorry I must have you confused with another DG'er who was putting in her first garden in the big city. She was posting in May, so since then I forgot who she was.
Your garden pics are terific.
It's 25* now with a high of 32*
Snow in the forcast until Sat. Then the sun comes out on Sunday.
