Donna, you will be sewing soon if you stick around this group!
Congrats on getting your rings, Laura. Good job on the design!
BJ, just about anything processed lacks fiber - or at least much of it. You've got the opposite problem the rest of us have. I go around reading labels looking for MORE fiber.
Deborah, you make a sistah proud! That was a challenging project to take on as your first and you did a great job. I see great things in your future! You're already a fantastic decorator and have your home looking beautiful using 'no sew' techniques. Can't wait to see the results after your bitten by the home dec bug. (psst ... that's sewing lingo for home decor) lol!

OY VAY!!! WE have a veritable blizzard going on here-BRB-I took pics!! Big fat wet flakes and HARD to see to drive home in-my back is a giant knot and my legs were shaky by the time I got home:(
Donna-I don't sew-I may be the only one-my craftiness lies in other areas like painting, but not like scenes, just plain pating crap...well, not crap....
I was never asked what I collect-how come;) I do cllect Fairies, but not just any fairies, Nene Thomas Faries-just like LK!!
We were all asked to name one thing we like! Some just skipped past it I think, so if you don't have anything after your name up top, please post it now, so we can get it all listed.
Besides, yours is a givin, we all know you like Fairies!!!
LK
I know, but like I said, I like specific fairies;) I probably did skip over it one of the days that I had limited time to read through all the gazillion of posts;)
Donna, as a newbie to the sewing machine, the first advise I have to give you is find your instruction book and sew some scrap material to learn how your machine is threaded and learn about the stitches. For example if I had not read how to thread and wind the bobbin, I would have done the exact opposite since Im left handed. Another thing I learned just from reading the instructions was how the needle should be positioned when sewing zizzag stitches. The needle needs to be all the way down into the fabric. I would not have known that without the booklet. But first sew a forward and a backward straight stitch at the beginning and the end beteween zizzaging. Again, I wouldn't have known that with out the booklet. As far as sewing, cutting out patterns and such, that's all yet for me to learn. Oh and if you haven't used your machine in a while, it would be good to oil it like the book says. There's only two spots my book tells me to oil, then oil after every hour of use for the first couple of days of sewing. Like a new car is what Judy advised me on, you oil it more often until it gets some "miles" on it.
Jaye- Are you getting any rain and wind??
Why, you want some Tina??
It's a good day to stay indoors with soup on the stove and watch football right?
Nope.... just return from essential shopping and got drenched!!!!!!!
I got some! Looked like it was heading your way.
It's so foggy today too! They're calling for thunderstorm warning tonight, again....
Tina, do you do any crafting?
I got all dressed and ready to go do my errands, and decided I was a bit sleepy. So, I layed down for a minute. Two hours later, I woke up... yep... and I even dreamed... so I was sleeping pretty sound...
I NEVER take a nap during the day. Had a good nights sleep last night too, so this is really strange.
I don't think I'm getting out to do any errands today now... it's COOOLD outside... 53 degrees.
Can't complain though... Don said its been snowing on his head every since he landed in Minnesota yesterday.
BJ, your body needed the sleep from all that stress you're going through.
I guess so... but it's just unusual for me. And I had the most vivid, strange dream.
It wasn't foggy today but the last two days have been real foggy. It's turning cool. I think it's supposed to get in the 40's tonite. That's cold enough. I used to cross-stitch alot. Now I would need a 15 x magnifyer lol
Laura, I really like your rings!'
Welcome LadyB! I have an orange tabby, too! He weighs about 30 lbs.!
I got my Fat quarters today! Thanks Phyllis! Believe it or not, I have used all those purples you sent me! And I love them, and the rose colored fabrics! Can't wait to use it! I'll post pix later!
I found the bread crumbs this time!
Thank you all for telling me that you love reading my posts; it is a great compliment.
Thanks for the compliments on the rings as well. I was quite happy how they turned out; I was a bit intimidated by designing my own rings. I think I’m going to have them tacked together so they don’t spin apart, but I guess that’s pretty common to have done.
BJ, both, I’m 5’ nothing and he’s 6’4”.
She has brown eyes and Sean and I have blue eyes, but I think she actually looks more like me than either of her parents. Our hair is the same color, we have the same toes, the same low normal temp., etc… then there are the temperament issues, we are both incredibly stubborn. She may not be “my” child but she is defiantly my child and the child my mother cursed me with when she said “may you have one just like you”.
I don’t have many pictures of her mom, or any good ones, but this might give you a clue as to what her mom looks like.
I’d start with moderation if I were you. See if eating less helps.
Deborah, when my brother and I moved out to go to college we decided we didn’t want the commurcials from watching tv, later we watched 24 on DVD, it’s 16 hours, so that means there are 8 hours of commercials in every 24 hours you watch. We do watch DVDs and play video games, etc… but Sage only gets to watch cable over at mom’s or friend’s houses.
We are actually having a very hard time getting her to learn to read. She is way below her age level in reading ability. She gets frustrated trying to read, therefore she “doesn’t like to read” and it’s really hard to get her to practice. I’ve tried everything I could think of and likely done harm with some of it, but… I think that if she ever does get comfortable with reading she’ll love it, it’s just getting her to that point. I guess it’s a common problem with “smart” children, they’re so used to things coming easy to them that they get really frustrated when they have to work at something; Sage is very intelligent, we had an IQ test done last year due to the trouble she was having in school and she rated between 110 to 130 on all the sections. I think she also has some self-confidence issues.
Donna, “that” is a hirmet crab. The have a “petting” pool up at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle. She spent about a quarter of our trip there playing in the pool.
We would be no where near as whole without each other. For instance, Sean is a stress monkey and over reacts to a lot of things, I allow him to keep the actual magnitude of the problem in site. He keeps me centered so I don’t get too depressed or too manic. I agree, together it at least feels like we could face anything.
I have two cats, both small at about 7 to 10 lbs. Mom’s cat is about both of them, weight length, and fur quanity. Nero is an everybody cat. Koshka is skittish, but getting more comfortable with people. My various house sitters during my UK trips had to go find her to make sure she was ok and actually there, because she never came out while they were there. Nero’s a black cat with gold eyes and Koshka is a lynx point Siamese.
Jaye, I have thought about that quite a bit and more than half believe I have an “old soul”.
Oven mitten swap?
well gee sure is good ya post new thread or I would get lost in space as fast as we all move through threads LOL
LK super on the box arriving they are all ready to use too you don't need to wash and put them in the oven already did that. I was thinking of doing something with them but lost interest with the job change.
Jaye no not yet on the stars I was thinking maybe a deep blue since there are so many different colors of material used but when I was out today getting stuff for more Santa's and purse material I forgot to even look at it
I do know that come March the Walmarts in Tyler will no longer have the fabric section though :((
Glad you got your fats today Audrey but darn was hoping the purples were something you hadn't used yet and the smaller ones I got at the fall RU over in Arlington
picked up a rotary cutter and a small mat for cutting too
Laura... if I cut back anymore on how much I eat, I wouldn't be eating at all. It's gotten to the point that I'm almost afraid to eat. I just need to NOT eat the things that take longer to digest (fiber), and those things that inhibit digestion (fats). Or at least eat less of them.
Hmm, weord-all the fatty things I eat seem to go right through me-case in Pint-McD's today for lunch at work:( It's like grease lubes it up to slide right through!!
That's just what the doctor told me... I'm not talking GREASE... I'm talking fatty foods... its a different fat.
Titanium or platinum
OO_OK-thanks for clearing that up!!LOL
I think it's Titanium, but honestly it's been so long since we picked them out...
That's waht I though-I LOVE it!! It is perfect for a man!! It has just a smidge noticable bling to it with the matte finish and the shiny middle:)
BJ have they scheduled your next Doctors appt. yet??? Sure hope they get this figured out soon!!!
Guess not... the nurse didn't call back yesterday... so, will probably know when it will be Monday.
Been searching online today for non-fiber, low-fiber foods... this isn't going to be as bad as I thought. I am going to miss my fresh produce... but strained juices will have to do. Other than that, just no nuts, whole grains, or seeds... including seed spices...
I can still have eggs, dairy, white flower, pasta... etc.
I'm having tuna on french bread for dinner... not too awful.
That sounds better than the "liquid" diet.......if I can have eggs, cheese and bread I can survive most anything....
AMEN
So what is the item that's supposed to go next to our name? I bet I missed it during the period I was majorly skimming.
Well, BJ look at the bright side---oh how skinny or skinnier you will be. I need to go on a diet like that instead of my "see" diet!!
Hi and bye Sistahs, think I have the beginnings of a cold --feel just plain bad!! Will chat tomorrow.
Linda Kay, your back now so you and BJ, keep every one in line.
Marion have a good cup of hot tea and to bed!!!! Please don't come down with anything....we need your cheerful self here.!!!
Laura, mine is frogs of course......you said you weren't sure about Lady Bugs or if you wanted to choose something else.....but you have had a lot going on......
What is the purpose or use that the item is going to be for?
What about Davey JOnes??You love that little guy??
Stacey, Cthulu, that why I'm trying to figure out what it would theoretically be used for. I have a few options.
YES_that is he-I never remember his name, just Davey Jones;) Sorry....
Laura... it is there so just in case someone wants to send you a gift they'll know what you like. Some of us like to shop, and sometimes run across something really cute they'll know someone here will like.
Can I put up my wish list on Amazon? ;o) It's hard because I collect so many things but don't have a "collection" as such, but for this I think I'll have to go with Greenmen/women.
Sorry folks for being MIA. Had chores to do .. during commercials, while watching football too :D Sis Kathy, congrats on your team.
Wow Niece.. apparently you had a deluge of rain. Need my rubber boots?
Phyllis, blue would be a nice neutral color. So sorry about your WM closing down its' fabric dept.
I think the ones in MB..all 3 of them, and the one closest to my town are still keeping theirs. (right, Tina?)
Thanks Laura, I'll keep an eye out for a Greenperson.. Will the Jolly Green Giant do?
BJ, hope it's a better day for you tomorrow...
Marion, I am so sorry that you are not feeling well. Puhleez take good care of yourself. Rest.. rest.. rest...
Gonna turn in now and mourn LSU's homecoming game. :(
Night all..
Sorry was gone most of the day and headed off to bed now so I thought I would check in..
Ahh hermit Crabs I see. Tony had a few for pets at one time but was told he had to get rid of them while he was going through his treatments since they MAY carry some bacteria.. Now we take him to the zoo so he can feed teh sting rays and the attendants there are really sweet and patient to him..
Will try to brak outthe machine tomorrow and start playing. I actually went in and wandered around Joann Fabrics late this afternoon just to get away for a bit since it was just me for a change. Think Im headed to bed..
Sorry the LSU lost there game.. I didnt get to watch mine today (shut teh directv off) but checked online for updates throughout the day and we pulled it off again.. Lets go OSU...
Have great night
Donna C
