Sugar Plum is adding blooms. I need to find out if she is a Shenandoah although the leaf zip lock just said Sugar Plum.

Very pretty Gail!!! Poor little orange zinger lost it's orange.LOL.That to cute with Doo Wop,never saw that before.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I sent you two real Orange Zingers or another kind of orange..........have they bloomed? I kept one but she hasn't bloomed yet.........

You haven't seen that? It happens to me in one of maybe 50 times.............

Sally - I have tried the tubing and it does work well. I like the softer kind as it is easier to work with. Oyama pots...I've not tried them but would like to some time.

HillybillyGran - yes, the "mold potting" technique is useful. The Pet. minor grows with the leaf stems in a vertical way. Mine is still in a 2 1/2' and appears unbalanced. The plant looks too big for it's britches.

Phoebesviolets - I don't know if this jewel orchid is for sale to the public yet. If not, I'm sure it will be one of these days.

Imadigger...I measured the fleshy rounded part of the leaf and it is about 1 3/4" x 1 1/4".

Beautiful plants and photos, Gessiegail!
Moon Moth love...I need that one and Sugar Plum, too. I love the netting on it. How do you make the backgrounds so black like that? It enhances the flowers so well.

Jannich - thank you

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am smiling as I type this................my black background is a shoebox I found in my closet. If the plant is tall, I turn it up(lol). Beats having to go find black material or something.

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

It works nicely! ^_^

I love Bristol's Moon Moth(say that 3 x fast! LOL)--Last week, tried to take some webcam pics to post--they all came out awful due to the lighting--I was trying to use a black shirt as background--bad idea--two hands weren't enough to manage everything. At the time, my thought was there was too much light coming in through the sides and washed out the image of the plants. How do you manage lighting?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I get where there is no light except whatever natural light is coming into the house...........put my shoebox up on a footstool.........and stick the plant in the black box (laughing) so that the sides cut out any unwanted light...........be sure and don't pick a bright room. In fact I scoot over to the corner of the room where it is darker...........

When the plants get bigger I am going to have to find some black spray paint and spray a bigger box black.....I love using boxes that are black.........no reason why spray paint wouldn't work if you don't already have a big black box.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

hmmm.....good ideas--the webcam camera takes awful pics at best---maybe this will help if I can pull everything together. Thanks Gail ^_^

I know that money is tight for everyone right now, but you can buy a good camera for less than 200.00 now. I think Jan said she bought hers at Walmart and it really takes good pictures.......you might want to ask her.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Jan...??? Talk to me!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

you are too funny.............dmail her! (lol)

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Oh...doh! :-p

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Morning,
The camera I bought ,Its a Lumix LZ8..I think it was 170.00. But it complacated to run.(for me).I'll let you in on a secret.Gail the camera you asked your computer tech about I forget the name but will look though emails and find what the name is a nice camera for right around a 100.00.My sister bought that one and when she was here showed me the pictures she took.Nice.It's got the maco setting too. If my walmart had it in stock I would have gotten that one, when Gail told me about it.Let me see if I can find the name.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

If you find it...OMG! I'll finally have a camera! If you don't--I' cross my fingers and go to Walmart

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Let me email him and ask him again.............I had forgotten about that...............he used to be a professional photographer before he built a business building and serving computers for people.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

I finally found the email about the camera. The name of it is Kodak Easyshare C713..I wish I could have found it.I would have had 100 bucks extra to buy plants.LOL.^_^ It's not being sold online but maybe a walmart near you has it.Good luck.

A photographer and a computer geek?--Is he married?^_^ Seriously, thanks Gail. This camera stuff is very confusing to me, and none of my friends are into photographing flowers, or anything else for that matter. I went to a baby shower today, and the few people there who had cameras really knew nothing about them, except to point and shoot. Any info is appreciated.

Here's my Rob's Loose Noodle on Nov 11th when I left for vacation to New Jersey & Virginia.... We'll call this the "Before" pic!

Thanks Jan--the closest walmart that has it is in the next state--bit of a ride. Since Best Buy, Target, Circuit City....etc. are practically my living room, think I'll see if they have it first. Wonder why it can't be bought online?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

There is probably just a newer model.........look on line and see...........this was about 10 months ago maybe. Fabian is married and has children and can he build computers! He ships them all over the US. He is definitely a computer geek..........we love him!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Check Target--I got my Kodak easy share Z650 and batteries for about $125-- it was on clearance. It didn't have the manual or the USB cord (it was clearance priced $150 regularly $275) So they took another 20% off the price--I found the manual online at the Kodak site and the usb cord on ebay. (I should mention I got an additional 10% discount because I worked there) The main thing is the macro setting for close-ups. If they don't have any you like-- ask when the next electronics reset is--that is when they will be clearing out stuff.

Edited to add: Target employees are authorized to give discounts up to 20%--so don't hesitate to ask on any item (clearance or not)that isn't as good as it should be-- ie cracked, chipped or missing something.

I can't even wrap my brain around the fact that anyone has the knowledge to build computers! I barely know how to use this one!

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Hey--how'd those pics get in the middle of my camera thread?? Ha-ha... Every once in awhile, when I click on "skip to new"--Dave's takes me past a couple of posts and I miss them. does that happen to anyone else?

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

OOh--look what I found! http://www.betterphoto.com/digital/buying-best-digital-cameras/04-lens.asp--camera info for newbies. ^_^

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I have never even read the manual or looked at the CDs that came with my camera. I only know two settings.........automatic and macro...........lol

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

That obviously works for you Gail! Your pics are great! (I still have to paint a black box-Darn! Knew I had a reason to go to Micheal's when I was out shopping today...) And I may be right there with you in the end, but I like to learn about the bells and whistles of a gadget. That's if I can comprehend, and then, if I can remember what I've learned...OUI!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I never ever like to learn about the bells and whistles of any gadget...........I am horrible...........

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

That is why we have adult gadget savvy children(or teenage grandchildren)-- to read the directions--program when necessary and then give us the "overview"

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Yeah...it was a lot easier when I had my 2 boys to show me how to use these things!-LOL
Gail--Have you seen this step on ebay before? Know anything about it?--ie:size, propesity to bloom?

I have her and she is a prolific bloomer. Isn't she a dynamite strep! I like dealing with lilrivers......she sent me one that was covered in blooms (which of course fell off in shipping) but I only paid 8.00 for her. I don't know why I am saying she. Actually lilrivers is a man............and he really knows how to grow. I didn't see who was offering this one.............gotta go to ebay and see what is going on.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Niel's Streps has it as "Buy it Now"-I haven't bought any streps online, but this one caught my eye-so pretty!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I also saw it on lilrivers , too...............it wasn't a buy it now. Let me go see what Neil is asking.............

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

M3, I was just going to say wow that is a beauty then seen the second picture... Been there done that...LOLOL Where in Jersey did you go? also Virginia? Oh the show right??? Duh me...LOL
Hugs,
Susan

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I never could find the Buy IT Now on Neil's streps............

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)
