One more - the whole plant of that last orange-red Schlumbergera.
November Blooms #3
Glad to see that things are a little easier in your life, Rain! We are so happy to see you posting.........beautiful Christmas cactus. That little orange sinningia is dynamite.
I really like Heidi as a strep blooming. I have a leaf going.
av_ocd_girl - it IS Irish Flirt! That is one of my favorites! I had stuck some leaves in August, and they're starting to send up a few babies. Do you want me to save one for you?
Syrumani, I would love it!!! I used to have one, but it bit the dust. LOL Yours is one of the best looking ones I've ever seen. Good Growing!!!
Aw, shucks. You're making me blush!
Thank you, though!!! ^_^
Rain, Love all your pictures......especially 'Out of Towhee'.....weird name.
I love the holiday cactus. Nothing like a plant you can totally ignore all year long and bring in the house in the fall and it will bloom it's little heart out. Mine are in full bloom right now too. Just planted some Amaryllis today......Hopefully I'll get some blooms in Jan. when the winter blues set in. : )

Rain-- that is what I have always done to get those cacti to bloom, works for Echinopsis too. they like being out in the elements.
Those Amaryllis are gorgeous! That's something I have never grown. They're so pretty I really should! I'd have to grow them inside. Are they difficult? Where's a good place to get them?
They are the easiest plant in the world to force inside. You can buy them anywhere but the ones at Lowe's, etc aren't as good and big. So, any good nursery should have them for about 12.00 each. You just put them in a 6" pot, keep it watered and it will bloom forever............when the blooms are gone, it is important that you let the leaves die back slowly and naturally to build up whatever it needs to bloom again the next year. When all the foliage is gone, grab a brown paper bag and let it sit in peat or anything until next year.
In the south we usually plant them outside after we have forced them inside. There they multiply through the years............
****if I didn't tell Amy correctly just say so...........I think I did........it is what I did when I lived in a cold climate.
"Here's one from last winter. Don't remember the name"
AV OCD Girl...that amaryllis looks like Lady Jane...
=0)
Sharon
that is so cool, never seen that done that way.

What a neat vase for the amaryliss. I've never seen them grown that way before. It's true what they say. You're never too old to learn something new. ^_^
nicely grown! Which is it?
She is Silvia and don't make me get embarrassed. Goldleaf said, "Gail, don't you already have that one.......you sent me a leaf". I couldn't resist her.........and she was only 8.00. lilriver is a good grower!
Oh! That Victorian Valentine is so beautiful. Is it a strep? or violet? I don't know one from the other when it's just the flower. But that one is surely going on my MUST HAVE list.
I love your jewel orchid too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both are beautiful! I can't get over the color of the Russian jewel orchid........so attractive.
imadigger...it's a streptocarpus
Gessiegail...this jewel orchid is nicer in person as the photo's not too good throught the plastic.
I have never grown a petrocosmea in all the years of growing and thought I never would but this one caught my eye with it's thick, glossy leaves and larger size....
Petrocosmea minor -
I tried one time with two of them. They were doing great and then I couldn't get them to stop dropping leaves once they got to the edge of the pot. Someone told me to put a protector on the edge of the pot............that sounded like too much trouble to me. Good luck and she has such big smooth leaves................
I have heard that you can get tubing for aquariums and cut it for the hard edges. I am going to do that and see. Also, I am using a lot of Oyama pots. They have a nice edge. Especially the small ones.
Great pictures!
Very nice goldleaf, the jewel orchid is so different.I like it and the strep is a beauty!
I just read on the gesneriphiles that once they get so big you pot them into a larger(bulb pan) pot--but once they are in a 2.5" pot before you transplant them you mold the soil in the larger pot around the pot they are in so the root ball isn't disturbed.
good information............thanks
Love the Russian Jewel Orchid! I have the one with pink stripes--even the cuttings bloom while sitting in water. Did not know the other varities were available, are they for sale to public?
I love those hairy leaves on the petrocosmea. How large are the leaves? Do you also grow them in small 2 1/2" pots?
