Staceypoo, I love the recipe box you made for sis Kathy! Girl, please, you are queen of the crafters and do such beautiful work!
Good Afternoon All,
I have been working on my website for the last 2 days, and I'm burned out.
Stacey received your box of goodies, so sweet of you TY. Stacey sent me a box filled with little packs of kleenex,Dove choccies, instant chocolate, a small dog house pix frame. I picked up Bucky's remains yesterday, they put him in a little cedar box with a lock on it. Along with this poem:
Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of Heaven lies the Rainbow Bridge.
When a beloved pet dies, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. It makes friends with other animals and frolics over rolling hills and peaceful, lush meadows of green.
Our pets fo not thrist or hunger. The old and sick are made young once more; the maimed and the ill become healed and strong. They are as healthy and playful as we remember them in days gone by.
Though happy and content, they still miss someone very special, someone they had to leave behind.
Together, the animals chase and play, but the day comes when a pet will suddenly stop and look into the distance...bright eyes intent, eager body quivering. Suddenly recognizing you, your pet bounds quickly across the green fields and into your embrace. You celebrate in joyous reunion. You will never again seperate. Happy tears and kisses are warm and plenty; your hands caress the face you missed. You look once more into the loving eyes of your pet and know you never really parted. You realize that though out of sight, your love had been remembered.
And now, you cross the Rainbow bridge together.......
Thanks for the tissues Stacey they came in handy while I was typing this.
Jim-Bo Had Shingles
Those of us who spend much time in a doctor's office should appreciate this! Doesn't it seem more and more that physicians are running their practices like an assembly line? Here's what happened to Jim-Bo:
Jim-Bo walked into a doctor's office and the receptionist asked him what he had. He calmly said: 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his name, address, medical insurance number and told him to have a seat.
Fifteen minutes later a nurse's aide came out and asked Jim-Bo what he had.
Again he said, 'Shingles.' So she wrote down his height, weight, a complete medical history and told him to wait in the examining room.
Jim- Bo what he had. Of course he said, 'Shingles.' So the nurse gave Jim-Bo a blood test, a blood pressure test, an electrocardiogram, and told him to take off all his clothes and wait for the doctor.
An hour later the doctor came in and found Jim-Bo sitting patiently in the nude and asked him what he had. Looking straight at the doctor, he said, 'Shingles.' The doctor asked, 'Where?'
Jim-Bo said, 'Outside on the truck. Where do you want me to unload 'em??'
Hugggs Cindy...

Love the Joke by the way.. Really made me smile..
Was a busy day today potting up plants and running around trying to re-organize everything that was brought down out of the attic from the middle of the living room. The Dh slept until 12 when he had to get up and go get his check then never fails but I couldnt get him back to sleep so he will be out all day tomorrow after working tonight. He also got word last night he wont have a day (night) off unti lthanksgiving unless something gets canceled so he was a bit of a bear knowing he wont be getting a break anytime soon but he knows we need it right now more than ever so he tries not to complain.
Well I better check in on the kids, it sounds like they are getting restless watching tv and Tristen is wound up because she got 3 awards today at school for her report card. Tony of course isnt impressed since he got straight A's , he just doesnt remember the 1st grade as well i suppose..
Cindy Im so sorry to hear of the loss of your pet.. I love the rainbow bridge poem and posted it when we lost our boxer a while ago. Take care of yourself and keep your chin up..

Donna... don't try to catch up if you get behind... just pick up where you come in... we're like a soap opera... doesn't take long to get the scoop... and if we confuse you, just ask questions... we gladly answer.
AND tell us all about your kids... most of us are grandmas and need a kid fix now and then... some of us have kids at home and are glad to hear about other's kids... and some of us don't have kids, and just need to hear stories.
Sounds like a plan.. I can join in just catching up confuses me more than anything lately..lol
Well kids are kids..lol I consider myself very fortunate to have my children when I go to the stores and see kids running wild..
My son Tony (11) is a bookworm for the most part unless its science oriented. He tell sme he is going to be a marine biologist and go to college in Main. He reads Harry Potter type books in about 3 days and is always looking out for new things to get his hands on.. I had to put my Stephen King books away so he would stop begging me ( I just think they are alittle too grown up for him) . Hes tough and really honestly his courage over the spring and summer was the only thing that held me together while he was sick. He underwent 3 bone biopsy's (1 skull & 2 hip) while the childrens hospital ws trying to figure out what ws going on with him. Started out thinking he had growing pains and found the lesions on his bones through MRI and cat scans. Doctors thought it was a blood disease but couldnt prove it without a definate diagnosis of a lesion so teh biopsy's started. One lesion was on his tailbone and it compressed and fractured it along with a major infection in his hip and that landed him in a wheel chair. I never evre imagined how brave he could be and he really surprised me. We were in the hospital; more than out and the last time they went in for a biopsy the doctor came out and told me they had canceled it. I was furious and didnt understand even afte he told me there was nothing there. Amazingly all the lesions just went away along with the pain. He still goes in for check ups to monitor the re-growth of the bones and repair of the spot on his skull where they did the biopsy but the doctors dont believe it. Tony says it ws because we all prayed so hard and I believe it too. It was a hard time for the familyu but we got through it and he doesnt take anything for granted anymore. He even passed his fcats from home and was in the top3 scores in teh whole school. Sorry I have to brag on my boy he is my strength..
Tristen well she is a very indeopendant 6 year old (6 1/2 if you ask her). She loves to read big books and can read a Harry Potter Book in about 2 weeks. She takes after me with her love of animals and gardening but mostly horses. We sent her a few years back to a daycare that had horseback riding and that was all it took. She cared after Tony when he was home and even brought presents home from the teachers at the school for him. She says Tony is her hero and I think that is the best thing I ever heard. She caught me in afew moments of weakness when I thought no-one was around and she would just hug me and tell me it was all going to be okay. Shes too smart for her own good really.
They both are my blessings and I dont know what I would do without them. I know they say a hug and kiss from mommy or daddy can fix anything but I say its the love from the kids that makes the diference. Well see now Im rambling on again.. lol

Pic of Tristen below
OMG... she's adorable... I can see why your so proud of your kids... Yes, it's the love that makes the difference, for sure. They grow up so quickly, don't they?
Too quickly for me... Seems like just yesterday they were still little..
My mom says Im still her little girl though so I suppose they will always be my babies.. Evenm when they are older and gone....
Just too cute... both of them... he looks like a very brave boy... such wise eyes he has.
Two, very attractive kids...
BTW... you know we'll adopt them for our grand kids and neice and nephews... don't you?
Thats okay Adopt away.. We love family! My dad has nine brothers and 3 sisters up north that we dont see much buit close friends are always like family.. Even the crazy ones...lol
Marion (abbisgranma) is the worse about adopting everyone's kids... she's the queen grandma here... she also lives in Florida, so, watch out, she might spoil them rotten.
Thats okay spoiled insnt a bad thing as long as its done right and with the right intentions..
Donna C, my step-daughter (DSD) Sage is just a little older than Tristen, 7 (8 in April).
I'm an unrepentant bibliophile. I know you said no to Stephen King for Tony, but do you mind adult fantasy; if so I can get you a whole list of recommendations (and maybe a care package from one reader to another)? If he could get into them I'd suggest anything by Tamora Peirce, the main characters are generally girls, but they’re not girlly books, those are young adult books.
I also wanted to become a marine biologist when I was around his age, but it didn’t work out, still fascinates me, but not my career. I want to grow up to be a librarian now, but currently I’m a house mom.
Sage wants to grow up to be a masseuse or a geologist. She has more rocks than any sane person should. Her other obsession is cats.
Fantasy I allow for Tony. He has a great imagination and read eldest, elden and a few others I cant think of.. lol We got him a book he had been wanting a fe weeks ago after him seeing it and begging and he read it in 2 days.. Its hard to keep up with the book demand around here between the both of them. I figure eventually I will let him into my books buttehy are a bit darker than I want him into yet. Tristen is reading all his old books do that helps she says shes going to be a barber and cut hair like Memaw, aunt linda and mommy does..
I too wanted to be a marine biologist and even foudn a few reports I did and showed them to him after he told me.. He thought that was really neat. I ended up moving back up north to Ohio and going to art school and having a young family. Then on to barber college and I did that up untilthis year when I was needed at home with Tony. Now I grow plants, do occasional haircuts at home, make crafts and paintings and most of all am home with both the kids. They grow up to fast and Im glad Im not missing it now like I was. Everything happens for a reason they say..
BJ says it right, Donna C. This applies to all of us. Just jump right in, pretty soon, like a soap opera, you'll catch all the scoops. And you craft too!!!
How adorable your kids are!!!! Yep, we have a habit of claiming everybody's kids here as our grandchildren. That's wonderful when you encourage your kids to enjoy reading.
Hi Laura.. Sage will love it at the Buffkins' residence, it is also Kitties' Refugee Center!
Good night my sistahs and nieces. .
Mercedes Lackey, Charles De Lint, Holly Black, Tad Williams, Madori Snyder, Ursula LeGuin, C.E. Murphy, Mike Resnick, Shanna Swendson... Those are at least some of the fantasy or fantasy like book authors I read, if he likes mystery, true sci-fi or historical I can probably come up with as many more.
If it wasn't for libraries I don't know what I'd do. I have around 300 fiction books, more non-fiction books and most of what I read I get from the library. I regularly have 100 items (the limit) on "hold" from the library, you go on hold behind whoever else wants requested them and then when you get to the top of the list you get the item, and I know you can only have 200 items out. Most of those are DVDs, CDs, and books on CD; even though I read fast I can only read so much in a check out time.
Checking in briefly!! Hi Donna I am as BJ says Queen of the Grandmas!!! Besides I don't have any grandsons----only adopted ones!! 2 granddaughters one Tristen's age and a 3 1/2 yo. What a handsome guy Tony is--oh what fun to have a grandson that age. My daughter is an avid reader--loves books--is a teacher so she had better love books!!
Yes, they will always be your babies --so just enjoy!!! The do grow up way to fast.
Soap opera? Well ladies that is a wee bit stretch of the imagination I would say. Or has something been going on I have missed? Leave it to me to be the last one. LOL
Didn't have the best of pizzas tonight and not in the best of moods so I will sign off early and catch on the sleep I missed last night. They burned our pizza twice!! Took us an hour and a half to get one we could eat! Guess where we won't be going again.
Nite all and welcome to the sit-com Donna.
I finally got my wedding rings today! It was really weird putting them on and realizing I was going to be wearing them basically for the rest of my life. To explain: We got married two years ago, but my rings are custom made. They finished my rings about a moth after we got married, but the same day I got laid off. Then we decided that I needed to stay home to be there for my Step-daughter. So, living off one income we haven't been in a position to do more than make a token payment since then, but we got a settlement today and the first thing we did was buy our rings.
I went with a non-traditional wedding ring, but it's perfect for me. It's a star sapphire and silver. Here's a picture.
Will have him check those out as soon as we can get to the library. We are down to one vehicle and its well really old and my husband prefers I stay close to home until he get sthe other two tires replaced.. He such a worry wart,, I know how to change a tire..lol
Soap opera or not its always nice to have an active place to come chat with such welcoming friends.
Sorry to hear your pizza took so long tonight. We gave in at the walmart while picing up milk and bought a sams choice pizza. Turned out pretty good and wasnt as expensive and the kids loved it .
Well I think Im going to clean up the kitchen and head to bed. Thanks again for the warm welcome everyone..
Donna C
Clapping yea for you! Love your choice of rings, Laura.
Nite Nite Donna.
Very Pretty Rings! When we got married we went to the courthouse and just bought bands but he bought me a small diamond for christms last year. I never take them off and even though he says hes not a jewelry person I have never seen his band off either, hopefully for our 10th I can get him a nice band of some kind. We have been married 5 years going on 6 this year and known eachother since middle school. Hes my best friend now and I only wish I would have paid more attention back then. You will be amazed how fast things go by (im sure you already have) but it really just flies by.
Just picked up our news paper to read about a shopping strip mall in town had serveral businesses windows were damaged from a buck in rut. The police received an alarm from Radio Shack, then Catos, then the Beauty Salon, then another. That Buck must have seen his reflection in every one of those store windows. He went through a couple of those stores raising havoc. What a mess.
Yep, that's our Laura... the bibliophile... (I knew there was a word for her)...LOL
Donna, Don and I have only been married 5 years too... we're having a late in life love affair... We had been together for a year, then his mom came to visit for a week, and we just woke up one morning and decided to get married while she was visiting us... bought bands on the way to the court house... then took his mom with us on our one day "honemoon" to a little historic town in East Texas... was really kinda sweet... I enjoyed that whole "spur of the moment" week.
Now, five years later, we just act like an old married couple most of the time.
You and Max look like a sweet couple.
Deborah... that's really funny... but really sad at the same time... what a news story!!!
Welp... I'm done for today...
Night night, my BSF.

Donna C., I’ll see if I can maybe get a box of used books sent off for him. I always like to encourage reading. I’m actually working on reacquiring my Tamora Pierce books because I gave mine to a 12 year old, who didn’t appreciate them, a couple years ago. We’ll see what I can come up with.
I’ve only been with my DH for three years last Tuesday, it seems like we’ve only been together a couple months or that we’ve been together our whole lives. We just did a small quite ceremony for our wedding. We were just going to do dinner and sign the papers, but the parents beefed it up a bit "We're only doing this once so it's going to be more than that...". We’d gotten custody of Sage that summer and at the time the mom was out of the picture, so I wanted to be able to adopt Sage, but you have to be married a year to do that, also I had health insurance at the time, so they were covered if we got married. We plan to do a more expensive vow ceremony and honeymoon on our 5 year if we can afford it. Still no where near what a lot of people pay for weddings, but…
BJ, we have the “old married couple” thing too. I joke that we’re one person in two bodies because we’ll both be thinking the same thing and one person will say it, or come up with the weirdest things at the same time; like I messed something up and said “oh, oh, oh” no real rhythm and at the same time about 30 sec. later we both said “Green Giant”, I don’t know how one person would make that leap, much less both of us at the same time. We very rarely argue, and when we do it’s usually that we’re frustrated that we can’t agree on something, rather than that we’re actually mad at each other.
We have similar interests, but enough differences that we aren’t clones; he plays music and I’m all but tone deaf (I can usually tell if something is played wrong, but I can’t even sing songs in tune) and he rarely reads. My birthday is in Jan. and I asked him to read Contact by then for my birthday present. Of course he asked me to actually write one of the stories I’m always laying out by his next birthday, Nov. 9th, for his present next year.
All we had for a “Honeymoon” was the house to ourselves for the night. *shrug* For our first anniversary we had a massive geek anniversary, we went to the Sci-Fi museum, the Experience Music Project, and watched Transformers at IMAX. We’re going to have a make-up anniversary this year because we just didn’t have money to go anywhere. We’re also going to have a late birthday party for DH.
But, of course none of that matters if you’re with the right person. I think DH and I were married over a month before we started dating, we just didn’t know it and therefore hadn’t told anyone; which is really what a marriage ceremony really is, a way to tell everyone else your married. If you don’t have that connection before you get married you might as well skip the marriage because it will likely end in divorce, though some people can stay together without the "love" just respect, but it's not a marriage I'd want. I don’t need the honeymoon or the anniversary trips, because I know I’m loved and everyday is a celebration of being together.
Ok, lights going off… might check to see if anyone snuck in later though.
I have been gone all day and I am soooooo far behind I will never get caught up…..love all of the pictures from everyone…..and just want to squeeze that little one Tia……….
When do we all get Struttin’ lessons!?!?!?
BJ and Kathy, you both take good care of yourselves.
Donna so glad you came over here with us…..Laura and I (zhinu and zhinusmom) haven’t been here very long, but long enough to be able to tell you that you will never find a more loving, friendly, wonderful bunch of ladies as our Sistah’s (and nieces) here…..hope to talk to you here often.
((((((((((Cindy)))))))))), can you share the the kleenex please………..
Jaye I’d love to post that one at the Doctors Office…….I had to call mom and read it to her, I think she is still laughhing!!!!!
Donna, such adorable kids!!!! We can spoil kids quite well!!!!!
Laura comes from a long line of readers and teachers…..my mom and dad were teachers……they said they could never get my nose out of a book…between Laura, her brother, her father and I, we could start a library.
Talk to all of you tomorrow and prayers for all.
Aw man-neither Bj or I won-what's up with that!!LOL
Great Job Deb!!! You go lady!!!
