Oooh! That's sounds good, too! LOL
We had roasted game hens, sided with stuffing, pineapple and brocolli/cauliflower.
I want to apply for work at the DMV but I can't seem to find an opening. I may have to go there tomorrow. I could change my name to Patti/Selma.☺
Poor Darrell had to go to his mom's AGAIN. He's been there almost every evening for about 3 weeks. She's got hepatitis, I forget which kind but it's affected her liver so she feels ill all the time. He has to make sure she takes her pills right and get her bills paid. He's also been rounding up the OTHER 6 kids to help so he's NOT the only one doing things for her. That's been a struggle.
Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt 27
My grandma swears by garlic. She eats so much of it she smells like garlic. She lives on that stuff. Ugh. LOL.
We have the same problem with my grandma. We have to pay for everything and help her out when needed cause the others won't do anything. Only one has a good excuse and that's because he lives in Texas. The rest are no more than an hour away. But none will lift a finger to help but ask her to help them. We're used to it now but it still gets frustrating.
I think he's finally gotten them to pay attention because her health is so poor now. They've all been over but he's the one she calls when she feels scared. Which is almost all the time now. She pays for her own things, too. She gives them her debit card and they pick up whatever she needs. One sister takes to her Dr. appts., another will stop during her lunch break and see that she's eating lunch. Still, he's there a lot. He's even gotten a couple of the GKs involved. Refilling her meds and grocery shopping.
I've never heard of cinnamon, garlic and onions yes. I'll give it a try. Darn wish I'd read this about 10 minutes ago. I had a piece of toast.
Celia - I feel for you and Darrell. We've been going through the same thing with Jeffs Mom. She got really sick last Sept '07 and now has to wear a colostomy bag. She's in PA, we just got her moved into a smaller downstairs apartment. Her sister (Aunt Mary) lives close by and has been taking the most physical care of her. We've absorbed her bills because she's 80 and no one will hire her. Jeff finally chewed out his sister and brother to start taking some responsibility. It's been tough, but we do everything we can.
I have laryngitis....
Thanks for the support, ladies. It gets very hard when you think you're alone. Stupid hpw people need to be told that that parent needs help. She has 7 other children, you'd think ONE of them would notice mom's getting sick all the time. Darrell does what he can but he came home the other night and was complaining about them. "I miss my home, I miss my cats and mostly, I miss my wife. I want to be home so I can see YOU."
MIL had a CT scan last week and her liver is very bad. They want to take a biopsy. MIL is NOT cooperating, either. She doesn't hear very well and thinks when her daughter translates that she's got something wrong, that her daughter is making it up. She also says the Dr. just wants to tell her she has something bad so he can get more money. Oh boy, is this ever going to be fun! LOL
I'm rambling. Darrell didn't get home unitl after midnight and I didn't sleep very well.
Sharon, sorry to hear you got laryngitis. Don't talk and drink lots of the good liquids.
Celia, hang in there. :~)
I'm so sorry Celia! Dealing with family is always tough. Ramble all you want. I feel for Darrell having to go there every night because no one else will, it's got to be dragging him out.
Take care of that laryngitis and like Pepper said, don't talk, it'll only make it worse and last longer, and I've heard it could damage the vocal cords too. Yikes!
Thanks Amanda. (It is Amanda, right? LOL I hate it when I get called the wrong name.)
Sharon, I feel for you, too. Maybe your boss willl suddenly grow a heart and be kind. ☺☺☺
Thanks Crissy. HE'S the one I feel bad for. But the family IS stepping up to the plate now. MIL just calls him first! LOL
Pepper - Does that include wine? :)
LOL
Alcohol is good for your throat! Or so I hear...(hiccup!)
Whiskey is the best!
It makes everything a little brighter, people a little better looking, people a little smarter, makes you dance a little better, and...oh yeah, it kills germs! What more could you want?
Exactly!! I can't think of anything else I could want.
LOL!!
Whiskey is good for colds. Especially mixed with lemon juice. My dad occasionally drinks it to help with the colds.
Celia, you got it in one. :~)
Hiccup!
LOL!!
How are you today, Sharon? Your sale is today, isn' it!!! Good luck!!!
Terry, still saying "Hi", wishing you were here.
I miss Terry, she's a kick in the pants! Every time I come here I wonder if she's feeling better and posted.
Well, I caved in and bought some egg nog today at the store, so I'm having some egg nog with my brandy. Dave has a huge lump where your collar bone comes together right below the front of your throat, he says it's a muscle cramp but I've never heard of one right there. He went to work at 4:30 this evening and plans to work until 6:30am. I need to vacuum and sew but I just want to sit here listening to my old Reba and getting drunk. I just hope nothing happens and he ends up in the er. He woke me up this morning thinking about going in. I haven't got drunk since 2001 probably. I'm due! lol!!!
If you're gonna get drunk, Reba's a good one to do it with. LOL! But then with your luck you will get drunk and your hubby will call to tell you he went to the ER.
Pep, that would be MY luck!
Yours too. LOL!!
LOL That's totally my luck! That's why I'm not drunk! I would just love one night to myself where I can do what I want without having to worry about it.
Oh boy, that would be nice.
Who's doing what for Turkey Day?
Going to an aunt and uncle's house where there will be crazy kids running around. LOL
Taking a trip to Shreveport for whatever reason lol!
That is if Dave's neck gets better. He worked almost his full shift last night and it's changed, it's not hugely round and spread out anymore, it's still huge and round, but not spread out, it's one big hard lump now. He said he's 99% sure it's a muscle but it's cutting off his esophagus, so if he goes to ER he wants to go Monday night after I get off work, and wants me to take him ggrrrrrrr. Men!!!
I desperately need to get in the shower, I have a pumpkin pie in the oven, sorting bills, hemming Santa's clothes, watching the 49ers GGOOOOOO 49ers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but need to get out and get my nails done, buy some batting, and a small piece of fabric.
He should go to the ER before then but like you said, MEN!! LOL
He wants to go Monday night because he has Tuesday and Wednesday nights off. I see what he's trying to do, but do I get Tuesday and Wednesday off, No. Then he wants to drive to Shreveport (3hrs) after I get off work Wednesday and come back Thursday night sometime to go back to work Friday night. Maybe I should put him in the oven instead of the turkey, they about look the same!
LOL!! Take him tonight and but don't tell him that's where you are going.
That;s an excellent idea! He so needs to be seen by a Dr. It doesn't sound like a muscle to me. It sounds like it could be tendons. Perhaps he tore something. If it's cutting off his airwway, he could be in WAY more trouble than anyone thinks! I'm serious.
He does need to be seen by a dr. He says it's cheaper to go to er than to a regular dr. I've been watching him all day, he's breathing fine and says it's gone down a little more. He doesn't take breaths between words and his voice box certainly isn't affected, and he's eating normal, sleeping normal (whatever normal is,) looks fine except for that big lump, and says he feels fine. I was looking on Web MD and it can't be a tumor or cyst because they wouldn't grow that big in 4 to 6 hours time, nor can it be thyroid because it's way too low. It did say that the muscles that control the collar bone can be stretched, which I didn't know that. He has tendinitis in other areas and says it doesn't burn like a tendon but it's acting just like an angry muscle. I think he hurt it at work pushing around 300 pound carts, then slept wrong, then got under that stupid chair in a weird position. He says muscle relaxers take away the pain and reduce the swelling, plus he's getting some really good sleep which is hard for him to get. He had a muscle cramp on his butt cheek once, it swelled up really big and he couldn't sit down for about a week, it was hilarious!
Pepper LOL! I wish I would've thought about that before he went to sleep! Darn I knew I should have checked the thread!
When you're usually the only female surrounded by men you learn how to get around them. LOL.
LOL!
Hey, not really back, but trying. I finally had second shot with second doctor last Fri. I thought I was going to die. He went into the side of neck, without properly numbing me. Can we say ouch? I was on my back, I was crying on the table keeping my mouth shut and my chin was quivering so much, and idiot doc wants to know why. Duh. I told him it hurts. What hurts, he inquired. I can feel the turkey baster you stuck in my neck!!! Oh no, he's so sorry. mmnmnmnmnm. bull. He then numbs more and says I'll "feel a warm sensation down and over my shoulder. He asks if I feel it. My response was, what am I supposed to feel? So he says "picture"...little x-ray machine they had going in there. Oh darn! It's not in the right spot. He's so sorry, again. Then he has to move his turkey baster around in there to get where it's supposed to be. That shot did nothing, but cause me a lot more pain. Where my neck didn't hurt before, it does now. Where my calves weren't charlie horsing before, they are now. idiot.Didn't know Cracker Jacks still had doctor licenses in the box, did you? Shouldn't say still, he's old. If he ain't old, he needs some "Just For Men" or something. I can still hear him saying "oh I'm so sorry"..like that made it better. I can still hear the cracking and crunching as went thru tissue deep within and who knows what all else.
I am going to appeal insurance. If I need this done again? It'll be by the first doctor. Second doc says I can't have 3rd shot because of the first doctor. bull bull bull. First doctor went into the back of my neck and I felt nothing. His shot plus the chiropractor had made me better. I (and my husband agrees), should have stuck with the first doctor and paid out of pocket.
Tried to read fast, thanks for well wishes and the hi's. Somebody said something about muscle relaxers. Flexeril is good, mixed with Vicadin and if nerves hurt, mix those 2 with Neurotin. Not sure on any spelling of any of the drugs. They all cause drowsiness. No operating heavy machinery. Which includes my car. The best part of the nerve drug is it causes weight gain!! YEA!!! Just what I always wanted. Only been on it since..what? Early Oct? Or is it mid September? My days all run together anymore.
O.k. girls, my arm is starting to ache, so I'd better stop before I totally fall over in pain. Or pass out from pain, that's not good either.
Be back when I can stand to do it again. Just the keyboard on my lap doesn't work. No room for the keyboard and mouse, and with any part of my right arm dangling, causes a whole lot of pain.
Sooo...Hi and Bye for now!
It's great to hear from you Terry! I've been wondering how you're doing with all of that. When you get back to your first doctor and get to where you can type again you'll have to explain it all to me. Get better fast girl! I miss ya!
Terry - I'm so sorry you are going through all this pain. I wish there was something I could do to help - even if it was to sit beside you and hold your hand :(
We are staying home this year for Thanksgiving. I was hoping my in-laws would come down since Gary can't travel, but no. So it's just the 4 of us hanging out. We'll have dinner, go for a walk on the beach to walk the food off then nap LOL! and nap again LOL!
Pepper - I know what you mean about being surrounded by men :)
Did I see a mention of Slidell, LA and Shreveport? My mom's family used to be in those areas.
Hey, Terry! SO glad you could pop in for a second. I understand what you mean about some Drs.
Speaking of...I have another chiropractor appt. today. He says the popping in my back is a tendon rolling over a bone. Great! Just what I DON'T need! LOL I said...What do I do about getting the stuff done in the yard I need to do? He said...Make Darrell do it. Yeah, like he's going to know what I need done. I cannot just stand and direct. We tried that last year after my foot surgery and, as he does take direction well, I find I can't stay out of it. I guess I'm hooked on this "gardening thing". ☺
We're going to my nieces for T-Day and I'm going to bring a dish that another fine DGer has given me for sweet potato casserole. Mmm...
LOL Dave just takes over, no matter what it is, except when it comes to going to the dr!
I'm going to Shreveport for Thanksgiving to gamble, drink, and eat lol! No family there, Dave wants to go have a good time. My deceased great uncle lived in Slidell and worked on the shipyards for probably 30 to 40 years, maybe longer.
Celia- How did your appointment go today? I LOL'd at "make Darrell do it" - that would be like me making Jeff do it LOL! I'm cracking up!
Crissy - Are you related to any Griffith's from Louisiana that you know of?
