OHHHHHHHHHHHHH Jaye you made out, I love them colors. Mom and I went to hancocks, and got us some black white with a hint of red fabric today. We are gonna make a quilt in them colors.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, some brugs are more susceptible to insects and diseases.
Leaves will grow back.

Yep, Janice sure has awesome taste! I had so much fun going through my stash. For the next swap, please, pair me with a quilter who doesn't like pink!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Howdy BSF's.

Whew, long day! We got in 2 reviews this morning (1st year med student heart and lung exams) and 2 reviews this afternoon (both pharmacy student exams). My brain was over taxed again today.

Whoopee! I'm off tomorrow and this weekend. Finally, can work on my swap partner's wreath, Victorian Santa, and other sewing projects.

Poor Kathy - that has to hurt. Hope it's not anything too serious. Have you had back problems before?

Pretty fabrics, Jaye! Pretty, pretty! Did you say what you have in mind for them?

Janice, pumpkin dump cake sounds yummy! Mind sharing the recipe? I can almost smell it from here. mmmmmmmm ..........

Safe travels, Marion. Will you be gone long? You know we can't be without you too long.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmm... Jaye... the one that is eaten, and the one next to it... were the ones I cut that were growing in my own yard... no bug ever touched them while they were outside...
I did kill two bees and a hornet yesterday out there... but they don't eat plants, do they?

I know LK isn't home right now... but maybe she'll see this when she gets home.
She gave me a datura in bloom when she came last month for the RU... I brought it in with all the other plants to winter on the sun porch... and this silly datura thinks it outside.... it's blooming.

Lol.. I've seen bees on brug leaves. The worst are grasshoppers..
Your babies look so gooooooooood!
You are doing great BJ!! Soon you'll be the brug expert!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

BJ, before you go to bed, check under the leaves good for worms and slugs. Also look for tiny eggs, usually white. It's probably a worm.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

That's so pretty!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good idea there Audrey.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Audrey... I looked really good on all the plants, and under their leaves... and didn't find any bugs, worms, eggs, or anything unusual.

Thanks Jaye... but it's too early to tell whats going to happen just yet. I'm just trying to get everything through the winter at this point.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Something sure is chomp'n on your brug, BJ. And seems to like it! I had caterpillers on mine and it was amazing how much they can eat in a short time. Strange that you don't find the culprit somewhere near. No caterpiller droppings? I usually find those before I even notice the leaves being eaten. Hmmmm ..... a mystery .....

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

BJ, look at NIGHT about 10 or 11 PM. If it's slugs they'll be out then.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll be sure to do that tonight... thanks, Audrey.

So, if it's a caterpillar... I should have butterflies on the sun porch soon... sheesh. Don already hears jungle noises (in his head) out there just from all the plants.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Does he have a Tarzan suit?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

No, but he does run around in his boxers a lot... but guess I'm going to have to make him a Tarzan suit if he keeps hearing those sounds.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm.. does the J in your name stands for Jane, BJ?
ROFL!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

NOPE

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

-----soweeee

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I love the fabrics!!! I can't wait for mom to move closer so I can make my own quilt!! Such beautiful fabrics!!

I hope Kathy is OK-I left her a message yesterday-she was supposed to get a box from me-said that UPS should be there and if Mike could be a dear and bring it in and unpackage it for her-maybe give her a little smile-did ANYONE else get packages form me?? Should have....

I haven't been feeling so hot, so I got off work a couple hrs early, came home, had some eggs and took a long nap....going to play here for a bit, then get my butt up to bed...

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Not here, Stacey...
Hope you get to feeling better...

Didn't mean to be short Jaye... was trying to get dinner for Don, and doing too many things at once... should have just left it till I could answer in a decent tone....
No, the J doesn't stand for Jane... But I guess I could change it... if Don can be Tarzan, guess I could be Jane... huh?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I sent your smellies BJ and something to another person that is on this thread-both priority on MOnday....

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

The day you pick up quilting niece, you gonna make a lot of your aunties happy.. of course... ^_^
Only box is from Janice.. and that's a happy box!!! Did I mention there's no pink?
All that stress just drain you more Stacey. Think happy thoughts.. see happy things... watch a funny video.

I just asked Kel, what's Tarzan's chimp's name, he said of course not
"monkey"....
wise guy.... (insert BJ's Sheeesh here)

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Maybe that is part of it, I am thinking with the rain and the teeter totter in temps it is probably just allergies....but bad ones......

Both boxes, BJ's and the other one, went west from here...My wreth one which to my shagrine, will be going out on Monday-I had gotten something that I thought might fix my problem with not being happpy with it-something similar to ribbon, came home from work today to find the cat had taken it upstairs, unwrapped the sleeve thing on it and preceeded to play with it ALL OVER!!! I don't have the energy to get it all untangled, so will have to do that tomorrow when I get home:( I was sooooo mad!!!!

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Tarzan's monkey was Cheetah?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Actually, the monkey's name was Cheeta... only in the movies...
The earlier books (before the movie was made), Tarzan didn't have a monkey companion... the later books he had a monkey companion named N'kima...
Cheeta was the real name of the monkey (named by his trainer), and kept that name in the movies because he followed commands only when they addressed him by Cheeta or the name Jiggs.

I have way too much time on my hands...
Another Cheeta fact...
Chimps only usually live to be 40-45... but Cheeta is now 76 yo, and living in a retirement sanctuary with his grandson... LOL...

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OK-so I have a question....mom is on another thread where she is doing a swap. There is something that happened that makes me mad. A person apparantly was swapping under another DGer's name, was NOT up front about it, now is saying that she and this DGer are not friends anymore, has pruchased her own subscription and that is has really been her this whole time-if the peeps haven't already sent their swap thing to her, to please reroute it to her now instead of the DG name that "signed up" for it. To me it makes me feel insecure. I trust that all my aunties are my auties and so on-mom did the same thing-she trusted that the peeps she was chatting with there were who they said they were. And I guess no one gets why she is upset. To me it would be like if I had a neighbor I called Bob-chatted with him regularly and were friends, then all of a sudden I find out he stole someone else's identity and is really Phil....am I being too sensitive, or would this bother anyone else??

I did think long and hard before posting and asking this..............

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Who was it that had the pic of the teeny pinecone tree?????

Off to bed:) Nighty Night!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I know what your talking about... seems she has two swaps going on... Marion was pretty upset the other day also about it.

Kinda makes you worry about a few things when you sign up for a swap, huh?

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Bj, your Brug looks as if a grasshopper ate your brug leaves, like Jaye says. A huge locust type grasshopper. He may die now? I don't know if that sap will effect an insect or not. Beetles would have left the leaf in a lacey eating pattern. A snail would not have ate that much in one night, IMO.

Stacey that would bother me. Is the real dger aware her password has been compremised? That would be my main concern.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Just did a quick quick scan have to run for spin classs!!!

Hello/Goodbye...goodnite.

Jaye...they came today....are resting in water now........will see if I can keep em going, will sure try!!!!!!!:) Happy Dance~~~~~~Happy Dance~~~~~I got Brugs!!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

BJ, grasshopper or whatever it is please send a different direction.....don't want him here I have enough problems with slugs!!! Got to protect my babies!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Deborah... the dger was sharing her account with a friend... they're no longer friends... and the one had to get an account of her own... made everyone very Leary.

I didn't know we even had grasshoppers this late in the year... haven't seen any lately. If I can stay awake long enough, I'll go out around 10pm to see if there's any slugs or worms... but like you said... they're probably poisoned, and won't eat anything else...
Good thing too... cause I'm falling asleep at the keyboard...

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

I have 2" -3" huge green grasshoppers still.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Next thing you know, they'll be stopping our swaps! What thread was that on, Stacey? I would think that would be grounds for dismissal! ^_^

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Salt will kill slugs! If you have some slug bait. put it out around the brugs and you'll see the dead ones in the morning.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Audrey... it was in the sewing and quilting threads.

I've never had to treat for slugs before... so, I don't have slug bait.
I'll see what I find later, if I'm still awake...

If anything else get's chewed on, I just learned that the recipe I use outdoors is safe to use indoors too... so, I'll watch and use that if I need to.

Say Happy Birthday to DH Linda!

Deborah, I do so much “Zen cooking” I end up with so many variations I can’t keep track of them all.

Phyllis, even DH got a kick out of the slippers, and we needed a pick me up yesterday.

Jaye, mom and dad both worked when I was young, DB did most of the cooking, but if I wanted to eat what I wanted I had to learn to cook. On the other hand dad taught me to cook eggs when I was about 3 so I had a head start.

Sage loves to help me cook, and I’m even getting to the point that I don’t always want to strangle her by the time we finish. Sage will learn to do basic cooking by middle school. I think being able to cook is important, whether you like to do so or not.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, if you're still awake, you can use a solution of 10% ammonia and 90% water.

Zen cooking-- like that term, Laura! Mine is called "Modification". If I don't have the necessary ingredients for a certain dish, I modify!!

Try as hard as I can, but right now, my brains scream "tired"...so I'm off to bed.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

What exactly is Zen cooking, Laura? I've heard that word used for gardening too. Is it Japanese?
