That's it... I have to watch it every Christmas season...

Did you know you can buy a replica of the lamp the father won in the contest? You know, the one shaped like a lady's leg wearing fish nets and spike heels?
Yes, I've seen those tacky things at flea markets...
Want one? I'll pick one up for you next time... ?????
No, but darn it ...... I thought I had your gift picked out when you said you like the movie so much.
^_^
Now my feeling are really hurt!!! I thought they were wonderful lights for my living room. Guess I better remove them before any sistahs come here!!!
Lights - as in plural? Do you have a pair?
Yes as in plural! Wouldn't you really like to know? LOL
I get catalogs that sell those leg lamps I think it's called Betty's Attic
I'm imagining a lamp on either end of your sofa. The sofa is red crushed velvet. There's a velvet Elvis on the wall behind the sofa .....
LOL... tells us a lot about how to pick a gift for Marion, huh?
how bout one of those cowboy boot lamps? Or a black panther ceramic planter?
I saw on tv that a man bought the house used in the movie and has it furnished exactly as it was in the movie. He gives tours and it's surprising how many people tour it!
Oh, that would be too cool.
I've toured South Fork before... not as big as you'd imagine it to be.
Weeelll, I didn have a red sofa but my DIL liked it and the color didn't go in this house so I did give it to her!! It was a bright red more of a maroon red. Sleeper chair. Picture nothing!! One of those huge velvet painted rugs!!!
My grandparents had a black panther flower pot. I though it was the prettest thing when I was a little kid.
BJ, it would be even more chic to have a black panther tv light. Remember when tv's first came out (not implying anything here) and people had ceramic figures on top with a little light in them? The panther must have been very popular - I see them often in antique shops.
ROFLOL I remember them for sure!!!! The tube in our television was round!!! You had to have a light on or it would ruin your eyes. Remember being told that?
I saw South Fork from the outside but not from the inside. It did look much smaller than on tv.
Marion, I'd seen those panther in shops for years before hearing the story of what they were used for. You are absolutely right - to 'save your eyes'. Wonder why the panther was so popular????
No clue--we had a lion! Panthers were the planters. They bring in some big bucks now!! Do you remember the little scottie dogs with shot glasses on the side?
Well, I thought it looked much smaller than on tv... The bedroom that was supposed to be JR Ewings, was really small... barely could walk around the bed.
Mom had a black panther tv lamp, AND a panther planter... I thought they were really cool too, when I was 5...
Hi Sistahs,
Well one more day of work then off for 4 YEAHHHHH LOL I am getting so excited because on Friday I am leaving to go to my very first plant show.... I know it is silly to get so excited over a plant but I am..... You know ladies you all type so much during the day while I am at work that it is hard for me to keep up... So like tonight I just went to the bottom and will have to reread later.... I am so excited I think I should break out the whiskey so I can get to sleep tonight...
Oh last night I went to bed early... Well Kevin comes in and said where is Fred he is my cat... I said he is in here somewhere and you woke me up to ask me that????? I was pissed... Well he then said did you see the rip in the screen window??? I always sleep with a window open... Well Fred went out the window and it was the second story... Well got my cloths on and Kevin and I went looking... Well we found Fred and he looked fine and after running around in the woods in the rain and cold and my slippers came off and frozen feet we finally got him after about a 1/2 hour... Well I am happy to say Fred is fine and boy did he get a talking to... The reason Kevin even noticed is because my Son Mikes cat is staying while he is out of town and Kevin said his head was out the window screen also when he came in.. .So he was going to follow his buddy Fred....LOLOLOL Like I said Never a dull moment here ....
Oh Kim I just went up to see how to spell sistahs and saw where you were sick... I am so sorry and forget the whiskey you drink get some good stuff and mix with sugar and it does help you feel better.... I wish you were here so you could come to the show with us.... Sending warm and health your way... We love you.
Hugs to all,
Sistah Susan
Susan, glad you found your cat AND live in an area that you can leave your windows open. Even if it's on the 2nd floor. Cat burglars you know can climb! Tell us more about the plant show. What type of plants?
I would really consider getting DH that lamp for Xmas-he LOVEs that movie!!!
I don't have a new job yet, but have been contacted by a few companies through a staffing place on line....so I am keeping my chin up!!
You all would laugh at me-I WAS that kid ALL last winter-every Tuesday!! You all know I site supervise at a job site and I have to stand outside for like 6 hrs...well, last winter I had my mom's old carhart bottoms which are WAYY to tall-had to roll them up and the crotch STILL hung to my knees-my big moon boots, 2 shirts, a hoodie, a jacket, the ear wrap thing, a skullcap, and the hood of my sweatshirt up and a scarf and gloves-only visible part was my eyes and I walked like a penguin and had to turn my whole body to look any way but straight!!LOL
Yes, what kind of plant show? If you're that excited, we need to know!!!! Glad you found Fred safe and sound.
Did you see the price of those lamps? That's a lot to pay for a gag gift! Or would it be a gag?
Gag? What do you mean gag? they are high class, high dollar, nose in the air kinda lamps.
Well, I thought Fairy was gonna get her hubby one!
Staceypoo, at least you were warm. Wind couldn't cut through all those layers. Did your eyeballs get chaped?. I've went to ONE (never going again in that cold of weather) ball game where I was bundled like that and many more women was too. Had a time getting up into the bleachers, women had to crawl up and their husbands did the back heave-hoe. Men, well, one shirt and a jacket becuase they were tough football fans. I was miseriable. My eyes froze from the sharp wind and we lost.
Debra, any luck finding Woody a good home yet?
Those lamps would look good in a fortune tellers house. Anybody here read palms? ROFLOL
Long roller coaster kind of story, Deborah. Their sitter begged us to give him another chance and let her friend 'the dog whisperer' work with him. We are working every day and making baby steps - it just puts me into a tailspin when he digs out again. The whisperer and I are playing phone tag.
Veeery familiar with the Michilan man look. The real problem is when you need to go to the bathroom!
I hold it-I can't undo and redo all those layers in under like 10 mins.....ANd I drink hot cocoa the whole time, so by the time it is done I am beating people down to get to the potty!!
Oh yes! you miss a whole quarter of play!
I guess it's not cost effective to pour down a concrete barrier around the fence line?
Not when you have all those peeps bundlesd up-just line hem up and there is your barrier!!LOL
Staceypoo, Id have to wear Depends to a job site like that.
What kind of company do you work for Stacey?... what kind of site do you supervise on Tuesdays?
I always thought you were a desk person....
I owrk for a staffing agency called Labor Ready (very mentally taxing)...we service an auto auction on Tuesdays which I was elected to be the site super (really the BM's job, so of course I do it)...If you have never heard it is a labor agency-general labor.....
My dear friends,
Somewhat embarrassing to admit, I'm not getting an annual bonus and Christmas is tight this year. I will be making bedroom slippers for you all as gifts. Please let me know your sizes. You'll most likely agree that it's a splendid idea, and should you wish to do the same, I've included the instructions below.
How to make bedroom slippers out of maxi pads:
You need four maxi pads to make a pair.
Two of them get laid out flat, for the foot part.
The other two wrap around the toe area to form the top.
Tape or glue each side of the top pieces to the bottom of the foot part.
Decorate the tops with whatever you desire, silk flowers (this is most aesthetically appealing), etc.
These slippers are:
* Soft and Hygienic
* Non-slip grip strips on the soles
* Built in deodorant feature keeps feet smelling fresh
* No more bending over to mop up spills
* Disposable and biodegradable
* Environmentally safe
* Three convenient sizes: (1.) Regular, (2.) Light and (3.) Get out the Sand Bags.
I've attached a photo of the first pair I made so that you can see the nifty slippers for yourself....
Awaiting your response. It's crucial that I get the right size for each one of you.
Oh come on! LAUGH out loud with me! This is too good!
