Oh I would hope they could take them home with them. Not hospital but individual donations. Dusty thanks for reminding us of that!! BTW, was packing the clothes I had mentioned and realized they are really summery things (after all I do live in Florida), still interested?

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Whether ya'll approve or not.. Many Vets are smokers....Here in Ohio, they have an unheated shack at the hospital to go to smoke...It is frigid in there....Many are in the hospital for months on end...They have nothing in the way of coats etc....Many come in from the homeless program...I know.. I am one of the ones who drags them in...If you can find it in your hearts to help them in any way you can they would be very grateful, as would I....I am about to leave OH and move to MI so I hope to carry on my work for them there, and soon to be retired, I will be able to work full time for them...We still have WWII Vets that have no family left.. or Iraq Vets, whose families do not understand their mental issues especially with serious physical disabilities...Even if you cannot help... Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers....

Col Dusty

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Yes Marion... there is summer here too... and Yes... anything given to a Vet is theirs to keep...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay,.will finish filling the box and get ready for mailing soon.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you Dusty... for the info... and for helping America's veterans. You're a very special person to give so much for those who we most often forget... We owe them so much.

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Bless you ... they will be grateful....

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Yes, Dusty, we have a veterans hospital in Ga. One I know of for sure is in Dublin Georgia. That's a wonderful Idea for some of us to do. I may do a childs lap quilt for the Sheppard's Hospital in Atlanta and one for the Vets! I now have a purpose filled sewing project!
Thank you! Deborah

Sugar Valley, GA(Zone 7b)

Dusty, this might be a better route to take for those of us who want to make and donate the lap quilts. Thanks so much for bringing that to our attention. Going to add that to the list to check out further!!!

Night dear Marion.
Yes Deborah, good timing for you to have that sewing machine!
This will be carefully planned Col. Dusty. Our sistahs and nieces who can't sew, can contribute towards the materials.
My ex, who's a Viet Vet will certainly be much kinder to me once he learn of this!

I like that idea too-where in MI Dusty?? Just curious here....

Kathy-make sure to check your email for me in the am-still gotta have my am chats my dear:)

Me want pie;0

I have heard of Mini pearl:)

I have also met a lot of famous people (not a ton, but several) and truly the atheltes are the WORST!!! The Eagles quarterback was soooooo rude-you know who I mean, and a player for the Suns that is named after a kind of coin (not a dime either) was RUDE and CHEAP!!! When I was a server in Scottsdale AZ they came in all the time-I don't remember who it was off the top of my head, but a rapper came in REAKING of wacky tabacky and ordered 10 full size cheesecakes for him and his crew-hmmm-can you say the munchies??

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

And niece, I bet all that time, being a lady you are, you held your tongue!
Isn't it past your bedtime?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OOO-I did hold my tongue, but I have told EVERYONE I have met about them!!LOL

Yes-going to bed now, but wanted to catch up as I was off for a few hrs...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hope the happy fairies be in your dreams tonight.
Cya in the morning.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Oh thanks for the coffee Jaye. Daughter just left colored water this morning--but she didn't feel well when she set up the pot last night. Well enough today to go to work!!!

Phyllis, so glad you are okay--what a way to start a day.

Deborah, what's up in Cordele? Waving to BJ.

Morning Tinky, hope all goes well today.

Will be dropping in and out as I have things I must get ready for the festival committee meeting this Thursday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR DEBRA!!!!!!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Morning! again/ I went to bed the earliest I have in years, really. Before 12:00 midnight ! yippeee. Got up around 5am to let the dogs out and they didn't even stay out long before they wanted back in!

Making a big pot of homemade stew and a big pot of homemade veggie & beef soup. Going to put both in the freezer to have throughout the winter months.

Back to cooking.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

WOW... Deborah... can I come spend the winter months with you?

THE PAIN woke me up around 4am this morning... and has eased off now a bit. Don called from the airport, and is on his way home. So, I'm probably not going to be around much today, unless he does what he usually does, and take naps the rest of the day, and I get bored... but, I'm planning on keeping him busy around here if I can. I am planning to cook one really good home cooked meal for us today... Pot Roast, potatoes, carrots, and fried cabbage... probably cornbread... I might even bake that cake I didn't bake last night. I'm feeling a bit domestic today.

Ya'll have a great day...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Now I am totally confused as to who's house I want to go to to eat. Can I just start at Deborahs and continue on to BJ's. I got my pie pumpkins cooked and in the freezer, does that count?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning BSF!!!

Marion, prayers to you and daughter also. Hope they can find the problem and fix it.

Betty, prayers to you and your Mom, hope she is doing well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBRA! Hope you have a wonderful celebration for a another year of life!

I love the idea of the lap quilts for the vets, that is such a nice idea. When do we start? Oh my, I can just see all the nice red/white/blue fabrics getting cut as we speak! Is it possible that we could just go to the vets hospital, tell them what we have, and maybe just go deliver them to the individuals?
If you don't have a VA, maybe a local church can help find needy families?

I missed the pie, but I have a question on baking? Hubbies Birthday is Thursday, and he wants a pineapple upside down cake. I have made them before, but they always come out soggy. What do I need to do to make the sugar nice and crisp?

Ladies have a great day!

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yep... you sure can... come on, BSF Marion.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Morning Linda Kay. Daughter has an infection and on meds so it should clear up soon. Thank yu.

I make pineapple upside down cake but us a cast iron skillet. Not sure what to do to make it nice and crisp?? Maybe we both will learn today. Shuck, I have a meeting Thursday or I would be at your house for dessert. Love pineapple upside down cake--don't make as daughter is allergic to pineapple. Bummer.

Starting on my way now BJ. Pot roast sounds so good!! I haven't done one in forever. Maybe this week.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

My mil used a cast iron skillet to make pineapple upside down too. Marion may have hit the nail of the head. I've never made one but do love to eat them.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Shucks, Deborah, I was a grown woman before I realize that pineapple upside down cakes and bread pudding could be baked in anything else!! Guess that tell you about my background, doesn't it.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sounds like a cast iron skillet is the magical answer. I use it for cornbread to get that crispy crust, why not for pineapple upside cake? Mmmmmmmmm, then cover it with lots of whipped cream????
BJ, that roast sound really good too! Guess I am waiting for cooler weather to make things like that!

LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Get that iron skillet nice and HOT before you put the sugars and pineapple in! That will help make the sugar crisp!

I want in on the lap quilts! I think giving them to vets is a GREAT idea! Count on me to make some!

BTW, you can tack quilts by using the bartack on your machine! Easypeasy!
