Brug Addicts - She's About To...............#35

Hi all. Been a busy afternoon here. I'm cleaning out my "plant area" for the winter and trying to get it organized. The rest of the brug cuttings are going out tomorrow and I will just ahve left what I plan to keep. Thank goodness! I went a little overboard and they were everywhere!! :-)
There are a couple of new faces who joined in while I was off doing my work thing. Welcome. I don't post alot but try to read and stay caught up.

Hi everyone, well spent the day potting some new plants and was outside all day. I never got to my Spring bulbs but will need to do that sometime during the week before the temperatures plummet!
Peg, I am planting nothing else than double tulips, every year I buy about 1000 bulbs and put them in the ground. Most of my spring bulbs do not make it the following year because i have a very shady yard and I pulled them up once they stopped blooming. I really do not like to see the dying stems, I know it is a lot of work, but that is part of my hobbie and planting beautiful things.

Nooooo don't toss them, i thought you had found nice homes for them!

I did find some homes but I still have a lot left....I will take a hint from AuntB and offer them for postage on the plant trading forum : )

Hello Everyone...Been just lazing around relaxing with the DH today..
We got all our stuff done yesterday...hopefully the quiet time will help him to start feeling better..
Was able to get the estimate done..ouchie...TG we only have a 50.00 deductable...

Clem I have most of my Tulips planted with my Daylilies and lilies....Kinda like an all season flower bed...
Once the tulips stop blooming the DL's and lilies start growing so it kinda hides the dying leaves...
I dig them up and thin them out abt every 2-3 years..
Or you can do like my DH did...Mow them down...surprisingly they still came back the next year...LOL
That's his answer to alot of things...no flowers..mow em down....LOL

Kim... I had no idea you were offering our mascot... I would really LUV a cutting of her..please!!... I'll dmail you!!
Clemmie... poor lil Copo looking all sad.. but before long he will forget.. that's what I love about animals. We can leave ours for even 15 minutes, and they are doing the happy dance to see us... like they haven't seen us in days..lol

Celia this one's for you. This was and IS the only blooms that I have had...lol.... wow what a ride we had with this one... maybe i should rename her Ike after the hurricane..lol

Phyllis I have tried leaving the tops to dry out in the past and it is the darn shade that makes them not bloom again, so i go on with my business and chop chop just like your DH, lol! I plant most of them in the front of my house for everyone to enjoy. I love seeing little kids trying to smell them, and hee hee, they have no fragrance at all. It is so rewarding for me, I'll see if i have some pictures of past years and post along.

Bonnie, my versi you gave me is so happy, she still has her buds, not doing too much with them atm, tho..worked on three onraments today.. made up some sloppy joe, some salsa, and cooked some broccoli and summer squash.. think I am done for the nite.. non f my seeds are sprouting! waaaaaaaa.. except for the moonflower vine and MGS that is..

hi everyone , i did something and wanted to run it by you guys , i was seeing some fungus gnats and i covered my cuttings in dirt with a layer of pearlite . i heard to use sand but i had a full bag of that . so what do you all think ? will it harm or help

Crab cakes? My husband LOVES crab cakes. One of these days I'll have to try making them. I don't like any sea food, so I won't be able to taste test them.

Hey Donna, what's with American Airlines not flying into Providence, Rhode Island any more? I was surfing for a ticket... seeing if I could use mileage this spring and there are no flight going there. Grrrrrr. Just because Rhode Island is small doesn't mean they should drop her. Seems like the flights were pretty well packed last time I went there.

It was a beautiful day here, lots of sun and temps in the high 60’s. I managed to get about 2 hours worth of work done in 6 hours. Not bad, things are getting soooooooo much eaiser, I still have to rest in between things but it is nice to be able to go outside and work in the garden.

Audrey congrats on puppy love, I know her blooms will be beautiful. Bonnie I hope you’re doing better on the ornaments than I am. My first attempt ended in disaster, lucky it was a trail and I only bought enough to make a couple. The idea was good but the finished product was nasty so I’m back to the drawing board again. Looks like I be spending some time in the craft store next week. Thanks Ella I will be singing puppy love for the rest of the night. Peg, great idea to repost some of the old pics for Celia, I only have a few but I will drag them out of the archives. Joyce you clean like I do take 100% out look at it while dusting it off and then put 98% right back in. Clemen I hate the dieing stems too but I’ve found ways to hide them in some areas. The rest I put up with for as long as I can and then the loppers come out. Poor Copo, what torture you put him through. He does not look all that happy in the pix. I hear you Mary I could not even get myself to walk out to the mailbox yesterday in the rain.
