am I 1st?

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

I'm here!!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes you are Tina-Tia.
I can smell Punk Boy!!
Okay, bringing over the interest Marion had started for a quilt project for charity. Crib/Baby/lap quilt size? BJ also suggested a ragged quilt. That's very fast to put together. We can have both!!
Willing to do other sistahs' squares. I know there are a couple that don't quilt.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Hey Kim.. the exotic!! How's the cruds??

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Jaye I feel a whole lot better : ) Thanks!

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

I know I'm one that doesn't quilt. You can do my squares- but then you would have to put them together lol Isn't that like you doing the whole thing???

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina, lolol!! I'm just doing the blocks!!! Okay, I can do 3. So, Kim, do you quilt.
Nice to see you back with us Tina.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

got an idea and I would be willing to do it, those that dont quilt or sew, could send the fabric to ones that vol. to make a lap quilt or baby quilt.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

poppin in to keep track of threads will be back in a bit have to hit the shower yet but will not smell like grapes when I get out ..rofl

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Punk boy and I are in an argument, I told him if he didnt start to settle down I will not let him sleep in, he said if I stop being a punk can I sleep in. He stopped. Dang it gotta keep the upper hand. Is it saturday yet.....................

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

I could have a V8!!!
Why didn't I think of that.. lolol... cause I know I'm gonna end up making one!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I will when I get him to sleep. I do not dare leave him alone. A tornado hitting this house would be more better.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!! Tell Punk Boy, each complain you have about him, especially not following sound orders, mean his Christmas present from this granma shrinks in size :D

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I made the jump... but I'm going back to bed in a minute... was thirsty, and thought about getting caught up here while I drink some water...

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

How would you like to have 4 punk boys running around ??--Tornado doesn't even cover it !!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, are you still having the inexplicable pain??

They're all yours, Tina in MB?

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh Tina bite your tongue................ I have 4 punk girls all with in 5 yrs of each other

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Gran's Jaye, I told him, he just pfftttttttt me.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Not right now Jaye... I'm just exhausted from not sleeping much last night.

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

They are all my DGS's. They 9,7,and 6 months. Oh I would love a girl !!

I hope you sleep good tonight BJ. I need at least 8 hours of sleep and lately I've been getting the most.. 5.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Okay I finally found everyone again.

Kim, the exotic, so glad to see you post!! Yikes, you been down with the crud? That's not fun--get well we need you here with us all in good shape and no bugs, please!!!

Grapes? Okay I prefer peaches but grapes will do I guess. Punk Boy's adopted grandmas are going be unhappy if he doesn't do as he is told. LOL, I would say you have a hand ful Tia, Tina, Whatever.

Well Tina, I was thinking about you this afternoon and wondering where you were. Good to see you with us again.

Okay, let me think this out!! Yeap, I do my best thinking out loud so....if it (they) are going to be donated to a children's floor at the hospitals then the size should be anywhere from baby to lap size. I think they could be left up to the individual. BJ's idea of a rag quilt is perfect.

That would not require hand stitching or locating someone to machine quilt--I don't do either very well. Hand stitching is definitely out as I just can't anymore. I am trying to think of all the pros and cons right now so anyone please jump in with advice!!

Having not done a rag quilt but familiar with them would there be a problem with the edges for small children? Allergies? Yes, those who don't quilt if they would like to send fat quarters to the others would be perfect.

I really don't want to over burden anyone right here at the holidays so I am thinking maybe starting it in January--time isn't an issue as hospitals are always in need.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

lol, I get a granddaughter any day now. I wont get to see her much but she is still mine. I think she is due around the 15 of this month.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Tina in MB I have 2 GDs would like a GS--hummm trade maybe? Blond, blue eyed but a wee bit animated--no, a lots animated and active.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

If this goes I was going to yarn quilt it, something fast simple and easy. Could have some done just in time for christmas, babies in the hospital at that time of year is just so sad.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, whatever you decide on, it will be fine with me. I can always learn a new craft!

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

Yea for a the girl- I'm going to buy her a baby doll. I bought one for one of my DGS and his Dad got mad. Can you imagine that?? lol

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks Tia, I forgot about tying them. That is fast and a really good method. Shucks, those who don't quilt could take them after they are assembled and yarn tie them. Hummm, got me thinking now. I agree, it is so sad --any child having to be in the hospital at any time much less Christmas.

Anyone interested in yarn tying any? Should this go to the other thread Jaye or can the SI group do it as a charity project in the name of Dave's?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

My oldest GD has requested a gasp!!! gun for Christmas!!! She is a sight sometimes in her ballet costume over her cammies!!

Jaye, I want all to have some say before this really flies.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I dont see why not. Sounds like a very heart warming idea.. I am in for sure. We could do it for our own local hospital or one we all pick?

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, maybe you could post it in the sewing and quilting forum, as to gather more interests. You would get more quilts too.

Feel free to do it here, if you're more comfortable with us. We do have quite a number of sewers. And the raggy quilt goes fast too..

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Ok maybe not a quilt for all to do, maybe something that would bring a smile to a child or anyone in the hospital/nursing home make it an adopt a person away from home type thing. It could be a blanket, quilt, baby doll, toy truck ................... just adopt a person for Christmas.

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

I didn't mean to ignore your posts about the quilts for children in the hospitals- ya'll are just too fast for me !!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

you didnt, we can be chatty at times and then there are times that it is quiet here. I know Imagine that.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Tina-Tia, then I have to bow out. It will be after Christmas.
Every year, we 'adopt' kids... from the local elementary school and whatever names the Salvation Army gave us.
Then we also 'adopt' senior citizens...
That's why we don't do Christmas decorations except for one wreath that's from his late brother..... all the money goes to them.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Tina from MB, we didn't think you were ignoring us at all. I dropped out this afternoon to finsh my laundry and cook dinner only to come back and find an entirely need room to chat. Just chatty, fast women here! Correction fast typing women here.

Where is eveyone now? Trisha, Laura, Cindy even Tink and Janice? BJ I know doesn't feel well and didn't sleep much last night. Kathy is having fudge cake so we have to excuse her.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Jaye, that is one reason I didn't really want to get this started until after the Holidays. DD and I adopt people also and with all the other things going on it is just to much on everyone's plate. As much as I would love to say do this for this year, I can't really because I don't really have the time either right now.

Everyone will donate items for Christmas, it is after that the need still exsist and donations have slacked for the children. I was thinking maybe in time for Valentines's Day.

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

Good idea Marion- sign Jaye up for a handmade quilt from me!! lol

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

ok that sounds good also. I will adopt a.............. for christmas also. I was adopted a very long time ago( when I was a single mom working 2 job with babies) and now it is time I will do it.
