2nd.DG Victorian Santa Workshop - Now the fun begins..#4

Victoria Harbour, ON

Suggestion Judy...a couple girls when glueing the sleeves and robe, got a little carried away and then the robe would not fit over the base, so GENTLY I moved the dowel back and forth, not forcing it until it came out of the hole, then I cut some from the bottom of the dowel, inserted and glued again..fit perfectly..so you could get Steve to help you do that...have you got them all done or is this your test Santa...you've enought hair also Judy to lift the beard up over his head, you will see the painted beard and put another row of wave hair, when you pull down your first layer you'll have a nice thick beard...

Just suggestions sweetie...

Oh my the Santas are all so gorgeous and the trimming is breath taking.

Shuggins thanks for the off, but if could see what I have in my basement as far as craft items for Christmas alone, you'd think I could go into business on my own. I need to take a picture of my Snowman that I used to make and then you'll see why I have loads of different things for crafting.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I would love to see your Snowman. I need to make one of those for my mom for Christmas.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

It's time to start pulling out Christmas decorations, so I went out and pulled one of the Snowmen down, so here he is.

Do you happen to have instructions that you would be willing to share?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I would love to share, but not sure everyone would be able to get all the supplies. It costs about $28.00 to make one. The hardest thing would be to find a 7 inch needle to sew on the eyes and the buttons.
You could probably glue them on but the indentations at the eyes help form the cheeks. I can still tell you how to make him though and give you a list of supplies. It was getting harder and harder to find the brooms.

I would make ten of these each year to sell and finally had to make one for myself and my daughter after Christmas was over a couple of years ago. I always sold out of them.

Oh My gosh, Betty, great suggestions!!
Yep, this is my practice Santa, love to hear all I can. I will have to think of the dowel, thing , unfortunatley glued this one in! Uh thought I was being smart! next one I'll wait.
But yep, i sure did make everything was to measurement...LOL, remember this robe cut was a second time.

heheh, i am still having fun, practicing.

Morning...

Love the snowman..I have the Mrs. - do you think they could date...lol...

Judy, even if it's glued and you lightly push the dowel from side to side, get Steve or one of the children to hold the base, it will come out easily, the just cut to size...

Gapeahen, that's the easy way out..lol..I'm sure she'll make you a treasure!!!

Morning everyone. Wow, love all the posts. So nice, and now the snowmen. You know your getting us all into trouble posting these things, We can't just look at them, we have to try one for sure.
I was at home depot the other day, and saw this snowman door greeter, and did not want to pay the $129.00 for him, and was trying to figure out how to make him, and now all these snowmen here. Very nice.
Please take a look at this snowman, and let me know if you can figure o ut how he is done please?
Please post the directions here, or let us know if you start another thread for them please???

Trisha! LOVE YOUR SANTA! I really like the way the skirt tail forms with the fur on the bottom. I'm using fur on my trim too. I'm trying not to but If mine turns out and where close to being as pretty as yours then take it as the best form of a compliment.

I just happen to have two of those bird cages like the ones Betty used in one of the pics she showed. I haven't check to see if they will be scaled to fit the santa size wise. I'll just have to wait and see. I hope I can motivate myself to cut out my fabric today. .
