Did I miss somewhere what we do with the hood for Santa?

OOOOHHHH so pretty, yes, you've got him gathered around the waist...what you need to cut is a piece 18" by 11" and make a 1/4 hem around 4 sides, then its draped on his head, sits on his shoulders and tied with the ribbon or cord or your choice to hold it in place ... cord actually holds the hood and is tied underneath his beard..

You did marvellously with the hair...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

That is Beautiful!!!! You have done a great job!

Victoria Harbour, ON

If you look about 24 or 25 posts up, you'll see photo of the hood and on the red victorian santa you should see the ribbon draped under his beard...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Robyn, that is a beautiful blue fabric you have there. Love how your santa came out. Very nice.
LK

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

Thanks so much. The hair was really pretty easy.

I have a silver ribbon that I'll use to tie it on him. Then comes the hard part, decorating. I have about 10 years of Christmas craft supplies to pull out and chose from. It may take me till Dec. 25 to get him finished and then he goes to my DGD for her collection.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Dying to see the finished project..do you like him so far? Do you have enough hair for the little one?

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

I love him. I kind of want to make him in the 'old world style', maybe holding a brass bell or a rocking horse and a staff. Then put some berries in his hair and add some Scandinavian pine cones. Maybe even a pine tree behind him.

Yes I do have enough hair left over. Thanks so much for this project Betty, I'm having a wonderful time. I haven't done any crafting for a couple of years and it feels good to get back into it with fresh new ideas from you and everyone else. Thank you and thank you to all the sistahs for their input.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh how pretty. I love the robe color very much!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Robyn..sounds as though you know how you want to decorate him so it won't take a lot of time..glad there was extra hair left..thought there would be...

The nice brass horns weren't out or I'd have had one for mine..might look at Michaels tonight..Suzanne has to return the rental car so that means that I'll have some time on my hands..good place to spent it...

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

I found some really nice brass french horns at all places.....Lowe's Homebuilding Center with their decorations. Had several types of instruments.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

*comes in pouting* Betty just talked to DH and no it has not arrived yet.
but there is always tomorrow

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Phyllis shall I pout with you? Would it help make it all better? LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Want to say a bad word but won't...let me see if I kept the tracking # because yours was in a box..

Either it's here in the office or I took it home to put with the others..let me check

Norman, OK

I recieved my santa kit today in the mail. thank you Betty.
I haven't got the other things I need to get started yet. I have a lot to catch up on since my trip. But I am exicted to get started on my santa. I have been looking at all the ones on here and they are wonderful .
Betty I will send money soon. Thanks again. Darlene

Victoria Harbour, ON

Looked in the office and can't find the slip..but if yours was in 2nd batch then maybe tomorrow..Darlene go hers today so maybe tomorrow..I'll go in search of the slips tonight...

Glenview, IL

Oh My Robyn,
Yours is turning out Beautifully.
Yep i agree, your beard is excellent. LOL will have to go home and play with mine a little more.

OH Betty, this reminds me, we we to cut the 1inch balls in half
LOL, my practice Santa has big hands, LOL as most of my decorations are too big!
See why I practice? Plus, I need to fatten him up some, so he looks skinny with this particular material...LOL, kids like him but you know they didn't want to make him but have some really good suggestions, LOL.

Gita, How exciting, will look forward to seeing your Santa too!

Awww, Phylis, Keeping fingers crossed it comes tomorrow.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Judy, you do use the 1" balls but once on the wire and robe on, just before I start decorating, I put the ball between my two fingers and squeeze it to kind of give the appearance of a cupped hand..not that you will see it, but it will be better than a round ball...

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I love the way that you gathered it at the waist. I hadn't thought of that.

Anyone looking for decorations should look at Hobby Lobby if they have one near them. At ours, they have an entire row of decorations for miniature trees (I found the vintage looking toys that I was looking for), even tree skirts that fit perfectly around the base (they just didn't have one to match my fabric).

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh I wish we had a Hobby Lobby here!!!!! When we would visit my Aunt in OK. City that was always the first and last stop during our visits. When we arrived to get every thing for the projects to be worked on while we were there.....and just before leaving to get all the stuff we wanted to bring home that we can't find at Michaels....our Ben Franklin closed down years ago.....Michaels and JoAnns are about our only choices these days.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

We don't have anything around here either. It's a 75 mile drive to get to either of them. It's one of the reasons I gave up crafting, too far to travel for just one or two items that you need on the spot to finish a project for a show the next day.
sigh.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

So zhinusmom and Rubynznest...are there items that you are looking for? The miniature items last week were 50% off, so I got a couple of size appropriate wreaths for $.50 each. I added some little berries and jingle bells that I had to add some decoration. The package of little toys had a teddy bear, snowman, angel, rocking horse, sleigh and Santa. They look wood carved. The entire package was $4.99 and 50% off, so it cost me $2.50. They also had a package of 12 brightly colored wrapped presents that cost me $.50. If you would pay for the items and postage, I would be happy to pick up those items for you and mail them. They could easily be mailed in and envelope. So after you paid postage, it would like end up costing you about the full price of the item. Anyway, up to you, just thought I would ask. I can post pictures of the items I got, if you are interested in seeing them. Just drop me a dmail.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

It will get here when it gets here ...just gives me more time to be excited when ti does get here LOL
DH tried to tell me the fat quarters I had ordered that came today were the package I was waiting for but I said no it is coming from Canada LOL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Shuggins that sounds really cute and thanks for the offer but I think I have everything I need for the first one,.,,,we will soon see. This is where I am so far, I still need to put batting around the dowel to fill him out some, finish the trim on his Cowl and I need to get up the nerve to start on his beard.....that's the scary part!

Oh wow..love the fur...how elegant he looks..noticed (don't mind me I'm trying to help) that the robe gathering does not go over the hand material to hide it...or does it and it's just the way it looks in the photo..

Love the red..now I bet that fur comes has a story behind it right? How will you be decorating it? victorian, country ..etc.etc...

Are you putting the beard on him? that will put finishing touches for sure and make him mega rich..lol...just make sure you put a cover, even paper towels over his robe as not to drop any glue...

Girls they are starting to come in ...it's exciting..just waiting for Mibus to get hers and we can all get together..surely by Sunday it will be there..are any of you able to make it... or Saturday night? which probably would be your Sat aft.?

Pacifica, CA

Love all the SAntas coming in, I have mine just about finished, so I will be posting later today.

Betty, I know someone was talking about fabric, and jelly rolls somewhere, but I can't find it now. Here is one site that sells them. Kinda like fat quarters, but long strips instead.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

All the Santas are beautiful! Maybe I'll work on mine today! Wouldn't take me long to finish it!
LK, those "jellyrolls" are nice, but expensive! The only quilt shop in Dyersburg has them, but I don't know how much they are, I'll check!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Audrey, how you feeling today? Your up early! I have never used them, so not for sure how much fabric is in one. They just looked nice, when I did a search for them, and had to share it. We have no fabric shop other than Wal-Mart here.
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

My WM doesn't have fabric any more! GRRRRR!!!!! I have to drive 45 miles to find one that does! Might be worth my while to but at the Fabric store here!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I sure do hope our wal mart never stops selling fabric! I know there are a bunch of women here, that would be really mad if they do! The next closest place is like 70 miles away.
LK

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

There was a bunch of women here that was mad, too! The cruddy head of WM came from Target, and he's trying to make WM into another Target! They're trying to get rid of him!
