(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

A couple of years ago I a little princess about 4 years old at the door. At first I didn't see an adult. Then I looked down at the end of my walkway and there silhouetted against the street light was verrrrry large full dress Viking.......really very spooky looking. After I caught my breath I told her "OH, you brought a Guardian with you." She looked down the walkway and back at me and said "No, that's just my daddy!" I cracked up!!! I would love to have gotten a picture of them!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

So sorry Audrey, I fought one all day yesterday......no fun!

Just adorable.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Hi Tia......(((((((((((hugs)))))))))!!!!

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Hi, I am so lost once again. I just got off the phone with my daughter, she checked herself into the rehab and NOW she can check herself out and will do so at midnight. Where this rehab is it is a real bad part of town. I tried to talk her into staying she just will not hear of it. The next step is to call the law if she does the drugs again. I do not know what to do.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh Tia!! How sad and stressful for you. Sending a great big hug and shoulders for support. Can you Baker Act her? If I am not mistaken she couldn't check out then if someone else did it. I know it would be rough but for her sake it might be worth a try.

Send huge amounts of love your way!!!

Tinky, they are so cute. Oh how I miss seeing the little ones on Halloween. DS sent me a picture of the little girls at Disney. Dorothy was cute but the "Monkey" was hysterical!! Ham is the best way to describe her

Yes Laura, I was saying post pics of yours and hubby's costumes.

Jaye and Audrey, take care--rest!!!!

Tinky thanks for updating us on Kathy. It is unusal not to see her popping in and I was afraid something was wrong. She goes constantly and needs a rest.l

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi All,

The vet called Bucky has a lot of cancer throughout his whole body. They will be putting him to sleep tomarrow. The vet is also handling the cremation. I probably will not be getting into anymore swaps in the near future. I will talk with ya'all later.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Cute goblins, Stacey! Love the little duck and cowboy on his pony.

Tina, how disappointed you must be. That's a tough roller coaster ride. This is the daughter with the young child right? And you have him now? Did I remember that correctly? Maybe the staff can change her mind before midnight.

'that's just my Daddy' - how cute, Trishia!

Audrey, could it be allergies? Fall seems to be my worst season for allergies - with dust and molds in the falling leaves, etc. and the central heat blowing out dust when it's first turned on. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Off to be soon. Long day today. Hoping to test drive the fancy sewing machine tomorrow. Marion, I haven't even opened the box to my new serger yet. Too many exciting projects going on at once. It may have to wait for a cold dreary day with no appointments scheduled in town.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I wish there was something I could do to help.....we went through this with my nephew. He had a lot of drug and alcohol problems.....lived in a halfway house for awhile, got tossed out. My mother took him in for awhile...it was too stressful for her after he disappeared for over a week (was in a drug house up north and a real mess when he showed up here again). This was on a Wednesday, I called our assistant Pastor at Church and he came over and talked to mom and Aaron. He told mom she couldn't take Aaron back in, and told Aaron he could go back to the House, or to his Dad or anywhere but he had to be out of my mom's house by 5 on Friday. He went to his dad for the night and then back to the Halfway House, got back into AA. Was there for about two years. Found a job he liked doing, making furniture...He has been clean for almost 5 years, bought a house and a car and just recently started his own business. So there IS hope. I know how hard it is on everyone but the big problem is that nothing really works until they decide they want to help themselves..........all we can do is love them and pray for them and be there for them when they decide they need help. And hun you know we are all here for you if you need us.....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Oh Cindy I am so sorry......I know first hand how difficult this is for you. Both you and Bucky are in my prayers tonight.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

OH Cindy, I know you are heart-broken, sweetie. I know how much Bucky meant to you and your late husband, sweetie. We put our Bo to sleep when the cancer went through him on 1-31-07. It was so hard to bear but you will always have Bucky in your heart just as you do with your late husband. You take care sweetie. I'll be praying for the Lord to give you peace and comfort during this time.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Cindy ((((hugs))))) I'm so, so sorry. We had to put down two of our babies within 12 months of each other. It was so hard. I know Bucky has a very special place in your heart and memories of your late DH associated with him. I am so sorry and wish there was more I could do. Just know you are loved and being thought of during such a difficult time.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

Oh Cindy hunny I am so truly sorry.

Thanks all, i called the rehab center and they told me they will not let her out at midnight. They said if they were to let her out any time before that then they could have her arrested for under the influence. I said that would be better than her on the streets at midnight. I have it to where she can see the doctor to get this "miracle pill" that will make her feel better. Another 300 bucks for the visit with the doctor and the pills. I dont care whatever it takes. I will find it somewhere.

Yes she is the one with my grandson, he is with my brother and sis in law doing the halloween thing tonight, my sis in law has a 10 yr old daughter and she just adores my grandson. He is one amazing little boy, he knows his mom is hurting. He does not know anything about this really. We are trying to keep him very busy and to just be the little boy he is. Tomorrow will be riding the bike all day. And his very favorite dinner, CHICKEN!!!!!!!

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Good for you, Tina. That little boy deserves his childhood. You're a good grandma.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

I am his favorite Grandma he calls me nanna, and my mom is his favorite GREAT grandma he calls her grandma.

Myrtle Beach, SC(Zone 8b)

Cindy, I am so sorry for you. I had to put my Molly to sleep last year. She was 13 years old. I'm still not over it. Tina my prayers are with you.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Cindy...my dear sistah... my heart also goes out to you. Please take care of yourself, and know... we all love you here...

I'm not going to go into details here, but Tina... you have to do what you have to do to MAKE her understand she needs help. Let's just say that I had to have my son arrested and court ordered to rehab for 4 months. That was probably the hardest thing I ever had to live through. The first 2 weeks, he hated me, hated himself, threatened everyone he ever knew... and I was told when he lashed out, to hang up, walk out of the room, not listen to him... and never, ever let him know how much he upset me.
After that first two weeks he started to come around, and started listening to his therapist. By the time he left there, 4 months later, he was at least taking responsibility for his own actions, and had a clean start. He messed up again... a couple times... but he's clean now... living with a disability that was partially caused by the last bout with drugs he experienced. It's been a long hard road, and sometimes I'm shocked we both lived through it.
Hang in there... love her enough to dish out some Tough Love... she'll thank you for it later in her life.

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

((((Tina)))))

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

If she was under 18 I could do this, she is an adult I can not make them do anything she does not want them to do. That is the hard part. I think I have talked her thru tonight. I just want to hold her and sit on her at the same time. I told her if she does get out tomorrow she deals with me. I will be on her like stink on .............

Glenview, IL

Hi, I am so sorry to here all of the news tonight.

My Prayers are with you all

A Hug is in order for all.

Good night everyone.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Cindy and All, my friend Elise received the following and forwarded it to me....I think this is a good time and place to pass it on........

> Dog's Purpose (from a 6-year old).
>
> Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old
> Irish Wolf hound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife
> Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker,
> and they were hoping for a miracle.
>
> I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the
> family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform
> the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.
>
> As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.
>
> The next day, I felt the familiar c atch in my throat as Belker's
> family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog
> for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what wa s going
> on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.
>
> The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any
> difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker's
> Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are
> shorter than human lives. Shane, who had been listening quietly,
> piped up, 'I know why.'
>
> Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next
> stunned me. I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.
>
> He said, 'People are born so that they can learn how to live a good
> Life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?'
> The Six-year-old continued, 'Well, dogs already know how to do
> that, so they don't have to stay as long.'
>
> Live simply.
>
> Love generously.
>
> Care deeply.
>
> Speak kindly.
>
> Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:
>
> When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
>
> Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
>
> Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be
> pure ecstasy.
>
> Take naps.
>
> Stretch before rising.
>
> Run, romp, and play daily.
>
> Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
>
> Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
>
> On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
>
> On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
>
> When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
>
> Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
>
> Be loyal.
>
> Never pretend to be something you're not.
>
> If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
>
> When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and
> nuzzle them gently.
>
> ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Elise
Life isn't about how to survive the storm;
but how to dance in the rain
