Ohhhhhhhhhhh. I am scared. : )
Morning everybody! Thanks for the cup of coffee, need it, my hands are so frozen, think it time to start hunting for the gloves.
Anjl.. So glad ya finally foudn out what was wrong, that definately not good, so hope ya get on the mend quickly.
Thanks for th ebreakfast. I had been sittign here wonderign what to fix. You reminded me I have oen of them frozen biscuit and egg thingies in the freezer.
Sandy.. I feel for you. You just keep the faith hunni. Time will show what those children the real meanign of love and that you have had it for them and give it freely to them and they will find their way to you.
Love knows no boundries through time or space.
Looks like evrybody gonna be having a busy day. Me too. Gotta get to work here soon and then it time to do somethign in the yard. It may be freezing out, but got plants still needing water. Wish we could get a little bit of rain.
Anybody happen to grow Peonies? Are they supposed to be cut back during the winter too?
For those out and about today, hope you enjoy yourselves and it a good one.
She's About To.............#32
Peg, thanks for checking in, now "we" won't worry.. I'm glad you are able to plan for possible lay-off this winter.. I like your attitude about it and the kitchen completion sounds like a perfect project if that happens.. yeah, right.. stop cooking..
Tammie, I think I hate aphids cause they make your plants look awful.. and they are so creepy-looking too..
Phyllis, that breakfast was GREAT! Scrambled w/cheese.. bacon AND sausage.. blackberry jam....mmm.. sure jump-started me this morning..
Donna have fun with the GK's.. everyone is busy today!
Ella, here in the north we cut peonies back to the ground in the fall. If you don’t it is okay to cut them back in early spring, but the foliage gets slimy during the winter and does not decompose well.
Thanks Donna. This is my first winter with this one I was sent last fall and it an heirloom and don't want to loose it. Will giv eit a hair cut if I can find where I left my cutters. I know I had them with me one minute and the next can't remmebr where I left em at and of course every other pair is doing the disappearing act too.
Happy Halloween everyone! Thanks for the pictures, and the full breakfast!!!! Mmmmmmmmmmm really good. Now that I am full, I need to get moving, go water some plants, and check on my buds.
Have a good day everyone.
LK
Getting around Davegarden a bit this morning.. found this on the PHOTO CONTEST..

After all that cooking this morning I went back to bed...LOL

! ?! Phyllis? Did Wishbone go back to his bedrole on WagonTrain?? (ah oh, showing my age)... you deserved a lil rest period! That was some breakfast! I could almost smell the meat fryin clear down here!
Yeah well when it's still dark out and cold what else is there to do?? Domestic Goddessing?? Yeah Right!!
My rules are if I cook a big meal..I don't do dishes....LOL
Happy Halloween Hotties and Handsomes and all the little Ghouls and Goblins too!!
AnjL- {{{HUGS}}} girlfriend...so glad you had some quality Mom time :o) Sending you warm fuzzies..I added you to my cox email account so don't delete your personal email from a mjs76@cox.net. I will be writing you this weekend. wink ;o) {{{HUGS}}} Love & *smootches* we are connected in more ways than one!! Hey any cuttings left from any of your brugie babies?? I would love an AnjL brugie :o) even a noid, I would name her Serenity :o)
I have 6 bruggie babies and the 3 on the NE side of the house are NOIDS that are finally growing..NO whiteflies on those ones, took long enough...errr and the 3 others on the NW side of the house are named and STILL have white flies and aren't producing quite as many leaves as the Noids.... hmmm I may be moving all of them to the front of the flowerbeds here shortly.
QUESTION If I move my brugie babies into the ground out front and lets say we do have a freak frost of under 40 can I cover them with a sheet? (All my brugies are still under 18" tall...actually most are still under a foot. I'm not sure if I'm given them MG Bloom Booster enough. How often was I supposed to do that? I use the MG Liquid feeder for my Bloom Booster. I don't have space in my garage to store them (the brugies). Our cars are in there, plus Todd and smoke...yeah yeah not a good topic, but I don't like ANY of my babies...human, furry, or plantlike to be around the smoke in the garage...even though the roolup door is open, I still don't want any of my babies exposed.... so now that I went WAY off track...will covering with a sheet work on those few nights I may get in Dec or January?? I could leave them in the decorative pots I got for my named brugies, but I don't want them "disappearing" ya know. Maybe I will move them once I have better growth in front to kinda hide tha fact they are in small decorative pots. I have decorative trellis' out there and noone has bothered actually anything in my yard... could be because i'm about the only person here in our community with a full blown garden now. I think I will leave the named in their special pots...since those 3 were actually given to me from my lovely DG friends :o)
Oh wow, I rambled... can you tell I get up around 6 am with Chester and then he goes back to sleep on our bed and I have time on my hands!!LOL!!
BOO...TTYallL... Thanks for checking in AnjL Baby... be on the lookout for mjs76@cox.net.... just one more reminder to know it's just little ole me :o)
~melissa ;o)
Hey Lissa How ya doing today...
It didn't come to me last night till I got off last night...
That you posted on the other thread that you were having lunch with your MIL
And That You we're worried about her...
Is everything okay There??
We're here if you need a shoulder to lean on....
I left my bruggies out till the weather reached 35...Sheets might help if there's gonna be a light frost
If you have any of those tomatoe cages you can put them around the plants and then put the sheet on it... it'll keep the sheet away from the plants..or you could use plastic bags...
Here we get real heavy ones...LOL
But I always go out and hose off the plants before the sun hits them...
Most times it works..but if it's too hard it rarely does...
How to keep plants alive through a short frost or freeze.. buy some christmas lights.. just the mini lights.. not the leds just the regular minilight sets.. throw them on the ground around the base of the plants or near the plants.. throw sheets over the plants and use rocks to keep breezes from blowing the sheets off... the heat from the lights will keep your plants toasty warm under the sheets... I kept 3 ft cannas growing through snow one year! Worked very well... the only things that got frost bitten were the ones where the wind blew the sheet off and even those were not bad where the lights were near them.

AuntB love that pic of your Potatoe head pumpkin above..
hmmm wonder who it reminds me of??
But of course I don't see a broom....teeheehee
(couldn't resist the ^o^~~~~> in me got the best of me)
Also love the Hibiscus...
Wow, thanks for the info my hottie friends :o)
Phyllis, yeah lunch went really well with my MIL.... she is still a bit forgetful about a few of the things we talked about that were discussed before. She basically had a lot of not so great news about my FIL. He apparently tore a tenden in his bicep area and the Drs don't think surgery is neccessary since he is in his 60's??huh, I mean geez, both of them are only 63. Plus my FIL is now having eyesight problems in his left eye...may be cataracts (sp).
Todds mom can be hard to talk to when it comes to her health, she is a very private person ya know..... and since she's older... well, in the sense of she's a mother so she's been there type of "older", she doesn't really wanna hear what a 32 yo old as to say (I know I'm a baby..LOL..sheesh I'm a mom too...errrr) But she is more worried about his dad right now and what concerns me most is she is the one who goes to his appts with him and if she is starting to not remember things that scares not only me but Todd and my BIL too.
Todd and I are gonna talk to Jason (BIL) and see if maybe the boys can sit down with their parents and "talk about things". Hope it works, we were concerned about their retirement savings and they didn't want us to be concerned about them and left it at that... so it can feel like we're banging are heads on the walls sometimes. Thankfully their house is paid off and they don't really have any bills. Plus Todd and my BIL make decent livings, so we can and WILL help if needed.... I'm so glad we can at least do that.
I hope I can get her to at least go to a specialist, her mom had signs of memory loss at a young age (In her 50's) and my FIL's mom has both dimensia and alzhiemers right now...very hard for him to deal with. I kinda think maybe they both just don't wanna feel like they can be heading in that direction themselves??
Thank you all for listening to me. I've been feeling a little down lately and I love coming over here and lurking around. But when I do decide to open up I really feel the love...at least the cyber hugs are felt for sure :o) You's all the bestest!!
Afternoon everyone. I was out this morning, taking pictures of the few blooms I have left for this year, and I noticed one of my buds is deformed?
I have a picture for you, and need you to tell me what is wrong with this bud. It is a noid, bit it is the only bud I have that looks like it under-developed? Will it fill out? Just wondering what is wrong with it?
Thanks for any input. If it a disease, I need to know also, so I can pluck it out of there...
LK
It's okay Linda Kay, it may straighten out and may not, the bloom will prolly be okay too.. it may have gotten smooshed into the stem or something.. If JBerger comes in before I get home, please welcome them... not sure if it's a man or a woman, but it doesn't really matter.. they want to learn more about brugs and have some fun... Clemmie, love the girls' costumes up there! teeheehee .. witchywoman!
OUCH! I just must learn how to land this thing.
Happy Halloween Everyone: I just dropped in to say Hi. I am JBerger aka JB(and sometimes Granny B) I am an 80 y.o. female who just must learn about brugs. I have already gotten in trouble because I did not know I had a NOID brug, and I was calling it something else. That is o.k. I am happy to learn even if it is the hard way. I have been reading some of the posts and what a fun group this is. Bonnie told me I could learn from you all and I do hope that is true.
I will be back with questions soon I am sure, just now I must go finish watching the PHILLIES parade and ceremony. I was born and raised in the PA Dutch Country, Lancaster County, PA and the Phillies have been my team for many many years. I am one of the few who lived long enough to see them win another World Series. LOL Have a wonderful day and I hope you don't mind me dropping in like this. HUGS...JB
Sis E, welcome to the insane world of the brug addiction!
YIKES! At first glance that b looked like a d!
Thank you! :)
Hey Phillis is that supposed to be me, hee hee, I love her figure, I only wish I had hers, lol!
Bonnie, that is an old pic of the girls, now they are old farts! That is why I did not even bought a pumpkin. I have the candy ready though, witchy witchy!
Welcome Jberger to our silly thread, you will have a great time here!
Take a look at this!
Welcome JB....My family way back when came from dutch country too..
but migrated to Luzerne County,Pa.
I was born and raised in Elizabeth,NJ
Where abouts is Wrightstown??
Sissy and Karen i've been using a product with neem oil in it Garden Safe Fungicide 3..All Natural
It's a Fungicide...Insecticide and Miticide...I got it from Walmart...
Hi Phyllis, thank you and the others for the warm welcome. Wrightstown is a small town that is connecting to Ft.Dix and McGuire AFB....many of the soldiers leaving for Iraq stop here for training and some ship out from here. I live on a Christmas Tree farm just outside of Wrightstown. We are so close the planes sometimes are as low as the silo when they land. That gets your attention. LoL I have a small greenhouse where I raise mostly Jasmine. I am a lso a NJ certified nursery as of this year in order that I can ship my plants legally. LOL. Not much else to tell you about me. I have a bird customer in Elzabeth, NJ They came down here to purchase a small parrotlet from me when I had my bird farm. I still hear from them and that was years ago. I guess you would call us S. Jersey. Burlington County. Come on down and see me.
Hmmm S. Jersey...
Isn't Atlantic City Somewhere around there...LOL
Just Kidding....
I haven't been back to NJ since my Dads Funeral in 1999....
It's abt 6 hours from me now...
When I left there 27 years ago I was on a dead run and never looked back....
Oh I know there's lots of nice places in NJ
Elizabeth was nice growing up...but then it started blending right into Newark..
And it got bad....
Hey Clem check out Jberger's pic...
Is that what happened when you tried to land in TX?? teeheehee
That'ts what it looks like, hee hee!
Hi H and H's,
I usually just lurk here but wanted to tell you all this in case any of you have had this problem. For years ever single dad-blasted time I got just a little cold or case of allergies I would get these deep painful coughs that would last longer and longer (sometimes for months). Eventually I started wheezing with the coughs (scared my 4 year old granddaughter - she was going to go in my dark bedroom and get me up in the morning but she heard a 'monster' growling and she thought it ate me up). Anyhow these coughs would last for months. Finally I found out that I had something called cough variant asthma. So instead of having an acute asthma attack my airways would swell and become very reactive. There is a test that can be done if you suspect you may have this kind of asthma. So, if any of you find you have coughs that last and last this could be the problem. Now, I get the appropriate medications and don't waste nearly so much time feeling bad.

Welcome jackie, glad you found a diagnosis to your asthma. I am very allergic myself and my kids suffered from asthma, usually during Spring time.
Wow, more newbies to the group. Welcome to Jb, and Jackie. I think you all know that if you have one brug, it will automatically turn into an addiction. you can't have just one!!!
Ladies, and gents, have a fun and safe halloween. Love the with landing, so funny.
Linda Kay

Let me give a big hottie hug welcome to JB and Jackie! (Hi to SisE, too--love that enthusiasm but don't scare em off:),
So much to catch up on.. Wolfie, I wondered what you were gonna do with all those noid babies! I'm going to be wondering what to do with all my cuttings once they are wanting to keep me poor buying MG and big tubs for all of them.. (I told Debra, I will HAVE to cut back on the number I have... re-prioritize before summer).. Glad the iochroma is growing good for you, too!
Hi Linda Kay.. I thought you were saying you you only had ONE brug...!!! Then I re-read... Whew! I was concerned for a bit! One will never do. :) bbl
Aw, Becky.. sorry you are hurting...ya prolly over-did....come back if you can.. I meant to tell JB, I LOVE your yarden witch! Very Cool! And Jackie, yes, Becky reminded me.. (you lady's will learn I spend 1/2 my time here confused and the other 1/2 trying to keep up!) Thank you for the info on asthma..
yes, Karen mooned us this morning and where is she now?? And Debra... I'm getting concerned about you my dear!
SanteeMelissa, bless your heart! You sound like you're dealing with the situation very respectfully..and out of love and concern.. you're afraid to put it off any longer.. I hope it goes well when the "boys" talk with them about it.. You'll be in my thoughts.. Thank you for sharing that and I hope you feel better, sometimes it just helps to put it all into words... We always have a hug and an ear, even a shoulder here, if need be..
Okay, really bbl- checking my "babies"
Hey hotties and handsomes!!!! Happy Halloween again! Nobody comes to my house either as I live on a major highway, but I went and looked over the back gate at the little trick or treaters going to my neighbors...So cute. Phyllis, none cuter than Arianna though! How precious is she I ask you? LOL
JB and Jackie, welcome with open arms! So glad you came by, hope you'll stay and be a part of regular posting! Jackie, thank you for the advice about the asthma/crud. That's what I get every year, allergies, turns into asthma with lots of coughing. Only time I get it. JB that witch is great! Anybody else old enough to remember the show H.R. Puffinstuff and WitchyPoo! LOL, that's what it made me think of.
Becky sweetheart, sorry you are feeling peaked tonight....I guess you overdid a lil but I know you and Ethyl had a good time. Was Lyle working more on the shed while you were gone?
Hey Clemen Rooty Patootie! I don't know HOW the witch thing got started, I just said I hoped the wind there blew you all the way to Texas...It was not me, nope. I don't think you're a witch at all!
I've been out in the shed repotting all my cuttings in Orchid Moss into 1 gallon pots! My babies aren't in diapers anymore, they're in big girl panties, hahahaha!
