South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Wow Bonnie, big congrats on the buds, I can’t wait to see. Some I don’t even know who they are. I’m so happy that your little Cassie is going to have a bloom this year. She will be the first of the triples.

ARRRRRRRRGGHHH! I am NOT impressed with Neem Oil! I know everybody says it works great, but I bought some and sprayed HECK out of all my plants before taking them in. I just noticed that most of the leaves on all of my Joseph's Coat Alternantha (bright hot pink and green leaved tropical) were filched of all color and nutrients until they were transparent, and many were worm chewed. Upon closer inspection, every single plant was absolutely crawling with teeny tiny almost microscopic worms. I furiously squished every one I could see and ripped leaves off with abandon. I think I am going back to Orthene or Seven spray. I nearly died!

Just found thread #32, got to pay more attention. This one is getting long too, so much chatting going on hard to keep up. Going to be 3 weeks this Saturday since I put my brug cuttings in spaghnum moss and a couple in water. Cyrpus Garden is sprouting some tiny leaves and Sun Goddess is showing signs of life too. I do have roots on some, but nothing on top. The two in water have rooted but no signs of leaves yet. I just don't know when it is time to put them in their first homes. My two big brugs that are in pots outside don't have to come in since we don't get frost. Well, once we had some very cold weather and I lost a couple of my plumeria so paying more attention to what the weatherman says.

This here city girl doesn't know what a hoop house is so someone explain, I know it has something to do with your plants.

Pegi

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Hmm, what's this? A door with a Brug on it. I think this is the place ::::slowly opening the door :::crrreaakk::: OH! People!! AND, I see my good friend, Lilsista Phyllis! Hi Phyllis. Hello everyone! I am new here, thankie Phyllis. I have two Brugs but I don't know much about them. I have one husband and a wonderful Standard Schnauzer named Gunny. He (the dog) is our child.

Oh, sorry, forgot to shut the door behind me :::::click:: there :) So, what's to eat? :D Can I look in the fridge?

Cis

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Hi Cis

Welcome to the room, grab a comfy seat and some coffee. Glad you came in for a visit, hope you will stay awhile. It's fine to check the fridge, sometimes we have good stuff in there. Only rule is first one in the room in the AM has to make the coffee, goodies are always appreciated too.

Pegi, can you hold for Bonnie, I can’t answer the question.lol

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Dark, that's awful. You know, it's weird, but I was going to buy Neem Oil because everyone raves about it...well, some people do...but niow I am having secnd thoughts. I do have Sevin...think I will continue to use that.

I do have a Mandville plant that is contantly being invaded by aphids. I usually just take a paper towel, wrap it about the stem or tendril containing the aphids and SWISH WIPE and smear them on the towel. Yesterday, after they keep coming back, I sprayed the entire plant with Sevin. I hope I don't kill my plant :P ARRGGHH..frustrating. I even try spraying with soapy water....they keep coming back.

Cissy, the anti-aphid

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Hey Cissy glad you came on over...Your gonna fit right in here..
Maybe after a while I can coax you over to theTM side...teeheehee

Uhoh...here's comes Bonnie (AuntB) with her Bruggie switches....

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Thanks, Donna! Where I used to work, I was the coffee maker every morning. I make good coffee :) I like it steaming hot too. :::looking in refrigerator::: aha, I see baloney (all beef), mayo and mustard....oh and yogurt, non-fat milk, 2% milk and whole milk. Hmm a variety!

::looking in cupboards for the peanut butter:::: found some! Where's the bread?

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Phyllis! Uh, what's the TM side?

Cissy, who hasn't got a clue. I lost it :D

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Get you some ladybugs...they like eating aphids...
My biggest problem with aphids is my rose bushes....

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

TM is for TROUBLE MAKER and Phyllis is one of our chief residents.

Phyllis no corrupting the new hottie, give her a least a week or so to get use to us here. LOL

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey Cissy! Welcome! We always have something to eat around here, sometimes a recipe or two, and even dinner occasionally! Good to have you here sweetie! ☺

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Ummmm there's some of us who areTrouble Makers.TM.and admit it..
Then there's some who are and don't admit it..teeheehee
But when we get bored we like to liven things up some..
See a bunch of us revived some or most of the old threads...
and got some to over 500..and if you don't unwatch them they pop up on your home page..
Like they we're poping up on mine this morning...hmmmm who was it?? excuses excuses excuses
Beck has wet Noodles that she comes after you with she the ummhum moderator but AuntB has the bruggie switches and if she comes after you you get to keep them and plant and root them...LOL
And there's one word that's not allowed starts with a House and ends with work....uhoh...teeheehee

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

LOL... I see Phyllis is breaking you in... Sissy!! WELCOME.. you will love it over here!! ... BTW... Number 1 Hotte rule... you can NOT say "housework".. I am the moderator, and I'll get you with my wet noodles.. course it doesn't just take that word to rile me up. so you never know about them wet noodles coming to get you!!..lol.. and Bonnie has eyes in the back of her head.. and she'll get you too...LOLOLOL

Karen.. ty for already adding my name... I am excited for the ornament swap.. BTW.. just had to have the homefries for supper.. sure wish I han't been lazy and made gravy..lol... I had to settle for ketchup
Phyllis.. don't be going and corrupting Sissy before she even gets her feet wet here..lol
Pegi.. usually a "hoop" house is a curved structure, made out of cattle panels or pvc pipe with plastic over it, to overwinter your tender plants, or to start vegie seeds a lil early. Hope that helps..lol... BTW.. I don't see any problem of you putting your brugs in the ground next year. They will love it.. and brugs love temps ranging in the 40's to 80's.. plummies get mad in the low 50's I think it is. as far as your cuttings it depends on when you decide to pot them.. Some of us likes to pot when they see nubbies.. or long roots.. OR forgo the water type methods and just pot up the cutting.
Bonnie.. that ric rak cactus is soo neat.. especially since it has a bud.

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Poor little ole me the Cheif resident....Teeheehee

I'm honored...

(Tammie) Odessa, TX(Zone 7b)

Put me on the ornament list...

I used antistress 2000 on my brugs last winter.. kept the white flies and spider mites in check.. did not kill them completely but under control.. much better than the fight I had with them the year before with insecticieds I kept spraying last year.. it is a polymer coating used to protect plants from mild frosts and freezes.. will have to do a search to see where it is sold.. a little goes a looooong way!

(Phyllis) Osceola, PA(Zone 5b)

Cissy if you have any brug questions or any questions just ask.... someone will answer..
AuntB is the Bruggie expert here...and Kim (kimarg) is the Queen cause she started the hottie thread..

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Gotcha down Tammie!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Since I am the moderator.. I get to say it..lol..... BTW Sissy... we kinda like the words... indoor yardwork... or domestic goddessing.. to use instead of THAT word

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't know Phyllis.. I don't know which is better.. you or Clemmie.. for that title..lol

Tammie.. that sounds like something I would be interested in.. bet Karen would too!!

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Karen, please add me to the swap. Thank you, Faye

Hello all, and welcome to all new commers. This is a great place to be for any occasion. love to all, Faye

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

Ok, I now know what TM is (never me) :::shaking head::

Thank you Beck and Bonnie for the nice welcome. I promise not to use word "housework". Never heard of it ;o) Besides, indoor yardwork is very catchy LOL. Lesseeeeee, brugs? Well, I have two given to me when they (the plants, not the giver) were very young. One is in the ground and it gets sun for about half the day. The other one is still in it's BIG POT and in the shade. The one in the ground with the most sun, is growing, but slowly and it wilts at least once a day when the sun gets to it. The other one is HUGE. I put it in the shade so it wouldn't wilt, but as yet doesn't have any blooms. One other person suggested maybe it needs some sun. Could be but it tends to wilt in the sun.

They are both real nice...especially the one in the pot. I didn't want to put it in the ground just yet. Whatcha think on why no buds on the biggie yet?

Thanks for the welcome Datson....I mean Datsu ;D...ACK! I mean Dahtzu.. (dang keyboad)

Oh now I can be a Domestic Goddess...
I can just see the DH laughing his ummm off now at that title...LOL

hmmm but Bonnie has now given her a hat and broom...
Bonnie is that only til tommorow?? teeheehee

Hello Faye..how ya been??

Henderson, NC(Zone 7b)

Someone please tell me what the "Crud" is. Don't know, but sure don't want it...Imagine that, finally something on this thread that I don't want.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Okay you two, I said Phyllis was “one” of our chief residents, I didn’t mean to imply she was the only one. We have several TM hotties here, myself excluded. Teehee.

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

BTW, here is a picture of my dog, Gunny. He is saying "ha-row"

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Faye, the crude is something that you defiantly don’t want. It is Bronchitis

(Cissy) San Jose, CA(Zone 9b)

AND one with his dad. BTW Gunny has lost a few pounds since that picture (the dog, not hubby). He's a standard, not a BIG mini. Some people actually think he's a giant mini LOL
