۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞ 46

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Hellooooo - back again. Spent the last 1 1/2 hours with a woman who will be housesitting for us next weekend while we are out of town. Going to Cleveland, Ohio for a mini reunion with some of DH's high school friends (graduated from hs in Pakistan). She's a retired sheriff's deputy and loves dogs. DH worked with her a lot before she retired (he represents the sheriff's office). Perfect to watch the house and take care of our dogs. :)

Good luck Stacey. Life's too short to hate your job.

Tina/Tia, your daughter will be in my thoughts and prayers. Let us know how she is doing.

LAST CALL FOR WREATH SWAP! The participants are clammering for their swap buddy names - need to close it soon and send out names. Can't have unhappy sistahs chompin' at the bit wanting names. I'll try to send out names at the end of the day.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh my Jaye, how embarrasing!! I use the recipe on the side of the Libby's canned pumpkin but use fresh pumpkin. I cook those to prepare them just like acorn squash. Cut them in half, scoop out the seeds, bake at 350 in pan with a small amount of water. Cut side down first, then turn after 30 - 45 minutes, depends on how big they are. Cool, scoop and freeze in pie size quantities. Want me to copy the recipe from the can and send--no need to buy a can to get the recipe. Do have a great jellyroll recipe if I can find it you might like also.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Marion, I think I'll go to Libby's site. They might have it online!
Now, you throw all those pumpkin seeds away? I love roasted seeds. Wonder if I can do that in the oven... spice them up a bit..

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Wooohooo .. I found it Marion!

Pumpkin Pie

3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
2 large eggs
1 can (15 oz.) LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin (use fresh pumpkins, refer to Marion's top post)
1 can (12 fl. oz.) NESTLÉ® CARNATION® Evaporated Milk
1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell
Whipped cream (optional)
Directions:
MIX sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Beat eggs in large bowl. Stir in pumpkin and sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in evaporated milk.

POUR into pie shell.

BAKE in preheated 425° F oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Top with whipped cream before serving.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Stacey, you are so sweet to invite me, but it's going to be a rushed trip as is. We fly in Friday and fly out Sunday. They have every hour pretty much scheduled for us. I'm hoping we can all meet some day!

Trishia, the fall color photos are breathtaking. Can't tell if we are going to have much color here this year or not. Probably not. We usually peak in early November and I'm not seeing much promise. Please keep posting yours for those of us not so fortunate!

Cindy, anxious to hear an update on your pup.

Deborah, I got your box girlfriend! Thank you for the snakeroot and seeds. It was not expected and exciting to receive. We should all have spectacular gardens next year with lots of flutterbyes!

Laura, Cedric and Bailey are going to need big suitcases. Lots of traveling in their future. Do they have passports?

Betty, wrong forum, but I got your box last night also! Whoo Hooo! Here comes Santa Clause, Here comes Santa Clause, Hopping down Santa Clause lane ...... ooops, wrong song.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Hello All,
Just got back from delivering some candles. No word from vet yet, they were going to do alot of lab work. Probably won't know anything until later. Thank You All for your concerns and prayers. I need to finish planting bulbs, but it's a bit nippy and windy, well if I get to moving fast I'll warm up sooooooooo TTYL

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I was out for a while after I got home from work-got almost everything planted, leaves me a coupld things to do tomorrrow B4 trick or treaters start coming and a coupld other things, but mostly done:)

Aw shucks Debra-oh well-maybe next time:)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Back on line again but who know for how long? I do use brown sugar Jaye instead of the granulated. Plus I use the low fat evaporated milk and no one has ever said anything so I doubt they can tell the difference. Now we do have the whipped cream --a little per slice--lots of slices though!!!

Judy that was a really sweet novel. I enjoyed it so don't think anything about it!! Just keep them coming.

Hello Tinky, trick or treaters? I doubt we have any --no children in this area. To far out I think and just us old folks.

Cindy, sending hugs hoping for good news about Bucky. Let us know.

Waving Linda Kay--sewing anything at this time? Gotta get busy. Missing you on the Christmas swap this go around. Where were you?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OMG Auntie M-we got over 300 last year!!! This year I was smarter about the candy and then I got some seperate goodies for wee little ones-I got baggies of animal crackers and teddy grahams-figured a 2 year old would do better with those then candy:)

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Cindy we will be waiting with you to hear some news...and saying a little prayer that it is good news....

Debra, Cedric went to visit Laura for a few days.....they have more Halloween fun at their house so he should have a good time.....I found him a trunk to keep his belongings in....and cover with stickers of his travel. Should have the passport soon..

Stacey, you wanted body parts for halloween....ask Laura about what her dad and I found yesterday.....if she is too busy I'll send you a picture......

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

OOO-Body parts??????

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Warning the following photo is intended for Stacey who loves Halloween and probably has the fortitude for it....it could be distressing to some.....

DH and I walked the dog to the end of our street to check progress on the construction and repaving that has been going on all summer and will continue until at least December.....there was SOMETHING sitting on top of the post to the sign for our housing area.....I had to laugh watching my DH check it out....thn ask me if it was real....!!!!! (It luckily is NOT real).

Thumbnail by zhinusmom
(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

a fake head-bet that got everyone going!!LOL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Turns out it was the head to a stuffed Leopard (Sage has one just like it) that had been buried in the mud and dirt and one of the construction guys found it and left it on the sign post.....I got a short video clip of DH looking at it and it just cracks me up!!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Tia, we’d love to have your mom and you. I said that it doesn’t have to be anything special, just what you would do with a friend visiting. I’m taking Cedric trick-or-treating. Dmail me if you decide to join.

Jaye, Opps… let’s try again.

As far as I can tell you bake pumpkin seeds on 250 for 45-50 min.

Judy, Cedric sign-up closes when I get on Sat. so I won’t work out itinerary until Sat.

Mom mentioned the sticker suggestion and we don’t think that’ll work, but we might have another idea, will get back to you on that.

Debra, we are waiting for his passport to arrive, should be here by Monday.

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

HI girls gee you've been chatty today LOL

Prayers and positive thoughts for everyone especially your daughter Tina.

think we've got everything ready to pack in the morning so when I get home all that will be left is the ceramics DD got here that need to move to Houston.

as for the laptop ..it was my daughters and she gave ti to me to use since the battery died and I use it at work plugged in
one of the sub drivers did some looking around and said he found a battery for $50 so come pay day IF I have it I'll have him get it for me

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Phyllis, hope you have a great weekend. Also hope you manage to get the battery for your computer......I don't how I got along before I could drag my laptop around with me... we added the Sprint Air Card to my phone service so i can go on line just about anywhere....think I have only been on the desktop about 3 times since I got this setup!!
Oh, did I tell you I really like it..lol..!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

What is a sprint air card? How does it work, and what is the cost involved?

That stuffed head is freaky looking. Very appropriate for halloween.
LK

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

LOL yeah I use verizon wireless broadband since dial up kicked me off more then I was on and DSL and cable are not offered out here in the country and satellite is like 300 to set up ...that is how I get online at work through my wireless modem and that is why I am taking it with me so I can get online hopefully in the hotel too....besides that way SS can't get on here and try to go places I don't want on my computer...shhh did I say that LOL

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

LK its a little wireless thing that plugs into the USB on your computer so you can get online anywhere you can use you cell phone.....mine runs me $49 a month and will work for my laptop or my desktop either one. I love it, take the computer in the car or anywhere and can keep up with the goings on here.....usually have my camera with me so I can take pictures and send them or just see how they look full size....never did like the pictures from my phone. Gives me something to do waiting for the DH at work, or sitting in the Doctors office or waiting at the Airport.....yep I'm an addict and can't be away for DG for very long without going into withdrawal.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Trisha... I do think you have an addiction problem. Here's a 12 step program you might want to consider.

1. Admit you have a problem.
2. Seek a support group. (not us, addicts can't help addicts)
3. Step away from the keyboard.
4. Apologize to your family for being absent from their lives.
5. Eat an entire package of Fritoes.
6. Go outside and dig some holes.
7. Call you mom.
8. Write everyone you haven't talked to since you've been online.
9. Say a prayer to your higher power.
10. Eat an entire store bought cake (save the cake holder, you can use it later for winter sowing those seeds)
11. Pat yourself on the back for a recovery well done.
12. Log back on, and hour has been long enough for now.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

ROFL!!!! I Don't know BJ, a whole hour?????

Fostoria, OH(Zone 5a)

BJ, where do you come up with these things! You crack me up all the time. Keep 'em coming, lady.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

ROTFLMBO!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I did it again... copy/pasted my words but forgot to add the picture, here is the Greenman pumpkin, it doesn't look as cool now since it's moldy, but it was a prototype, so I did it a couple weeks ago.

Thumbnail by zhinu
TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

ROFL!!
BJ, you left out one.. regain your throne ... leave the pc out of the bathroom!!

Have been nursing a sore sore back. Was moving furniture around, and paying for it now.

So, another early night tonight. Excuse me sistahs, I'll be up early tomorrow with croissants and hot cocoa!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I come up with that recovery list every day... just so I can get something done around here... if nothing more than to just feed my own face.

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Here it is unlighted.

Thumbnail by zhinu
(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

OMG Brenda that is MY exact 12 step program How on earth did you know. Step back Do NOT take my winter sowing cake boxes!!!!!!!!!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL... we have a lot in common, I guess.

Now, Laura... that's some talent you have there... I've never been good at carving pumpkins... You did a very nice job.

(Tia) Norman, OK(Zone 7a)

WOW Laura that is talent.
