Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - yesterday was awful. Had to pick up my wife at the train station and on my way it was already dark before 5!! Yucky day here. 50, but overcast and gloomy.

Really nice day.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

42 and foggy. Sun starting to burn through. I'll vote after I have my kids' teacher meetings.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I walked, too .... as the location is conveniently at the end of my street (approximatly 8 houses away)!! No excuses here. Also, No lines at the time I was there. Oddly, I have never had to wait more than say 10 people in all these many years.

It's already 58ºF out there.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Where is everyone today?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it's 43 now... going up to 62.... very cloudy and depressing out

Thomaston, CT

Sunny, after the fog burned off, & should be in the 60's. Victor, bad news from teacher, you look at wife & say, "I was always a good student!" Good news from teacher--smile broadly & say the same thing!" I always loved the conferences--I'm assuming your boys are fine, because the folks I really wanted to see rarely showed.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks Robin. Yes, I did get very good reports for both of them. Only two people ahead of me at the polls. And that's the most I have ever had to wait!

South Hamilton, MA

Very pleasant, will maybe get some weeding finished. the best thing about the election is that we don't have to watch all the ads anymore;national & 2 states.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll second that!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

There have been ads on TV?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well the ones for 2010 (or even 2012) should be starting soon...

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Here's what I have done with my porch. Installed greenhouse type plastic panels. They are double channel. I will remove two of them for the warm months for the cross-breeze. I put some foam insulation above as well. Now I will bring my tender plants there.

lol ....

I mean ACK!

Edited to clarify: ACK to commercials, not the porch treatment!

Great use of the "extra space," Victor ....

my fav. place at grand mom's house was my bedroom, as it had a narrow "sun porch" running along the back of that part of the house, connecting my bedroom to the side porch. All the tenders would go there. There was also a sun porch off of the kitchen. I would always enter the house that way, pinching all the herbs as I passed them. Ah ... fond memories ......

Had a problem getting a parking space as it was limited. 2 wards in same building. Walked in, gave name and addy and poof, walked out. I am glad no more commercials!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OMG it got to 64 in the sun today! Beautiful day, glad the line to vote was short!!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Cloudy all day but 64 degrees. Of course starts to drizzle just as I have to go pick my son up from school. There was only 1 couple in front of me at the voting booths.

South Hamilton, MA

The warmer weather let me spend time weeding one of the iris beds, slow work as the soil is getting cold, but progress.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Good morning everyone.
Glad I voted for the winner.
Hope to have another balmy day w/ sunny skies.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

54, overcast and drizzling.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

schickenlady, Lucky you.

High over cast clouds, streaks of blue, mild and calm. I am needing a couple more days of this fine weather to get everything planted and the gardens to bed. Last of my fall bulb orders arrived yesterday except for one order for some more hippeastrums from Edenbloom out west. Need to call them. I did pot up a bunch of other new ones yesterday. Nothing brightens up the house in the dead of winter more than a big amaryllis in bloom. Patti

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

There was an election yesterday?? I got a call it was postponed until Thursday! ;-)

I have always been fascinated by the Pileated .... very cool!

I just planted 4 more amaryllis (total, just 7), can't wait until the new papilio blooms for me. The bud is just starting to forming.

Wow---12 amaryllis, Pixie---good for you---if I get 1 going, I'm lucky, although I did manage 2 last winter---on sale from WFF--no labels, but both were striking. Glad all of you had a good experience at polls---we had about 50 ahead of us--the room is so long & narrow anyone can see your ballot--then the person in front of me had his ballot spit out by scanner---I'm yelling at him & waving his ballot in air---then I'm like "Whoops---this is someone's BALLOT I'm waving" So much for privacy! Sherrie---nice to see "Woody" back again---had not seen my red-bellied all summer--put out the suet, & there he was!

Thomaston, CT

Whoops--forgot the weather! Cloudy, will be in low 60's with afternoon showers.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

57° now, sun shining off and on here, suppose to get up to 62 today!

60 here! Pretty shot, Celeste.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thank you Victor, it was taken last week...most of the leaves are a bit darker in color now. More rusty and brown tones, at least the ones still hanging on.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Rain on and off all day supposedly, haven't seen the "on" part yet. Cloudy all morn 63 degrees

WOW it is nice out!!! Celeste - how can you have that kind of shot? Now when I am brown dead and dried out.... :-)

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Nice fall vista, Pixie. Can't wait to see your amaryllis blooming. I will post mine on the amaryllis thread. I love starting my day with a online view of a big fat juicy bloom. Always makes me smile.

It is starting to spit rain here now, overcast but quite warm. Worked outside all day doing the garden clean up. Needed only a turtle neck, but not as pretty a day as yesterday. Dug holes for the new trees, but will plant them tomorrow if the weather cooperates. Still need a couple more days to cut everything back. Then the bulb planting and the leaf raking. We still have eggplants and peppers in the garden. Very mild so far here this fall. Patti
