2nd. Annual DG Christmas Workshop "Victorian Santa" Pt.4

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

I started sewing my robe. Got the first seam sewn, but I am a little confused after that. Can some one show a picture of their finished robe? Also, Betty, you show the dimensions of the sleeve to be 9 x 11 when it is sewn. I cut my sleeves 10 x 18 like the instructions showed, so I don't understand how it can be 9x11 when it is done. Sorry, I am a very visual person. I know, I should have done this a long time ago, but just got around to it.

Thanks!

You are correct..it was if we were using different dimension width of material..yep yours is perfect... little cuff at the bottom if you are sewing and then on the upper part you gather with strong thread...

As for the robe part there really is ONLY 1 seam...then you put that seam at the back and slit eash side of the gown maybe 3 or 4 inches down and turn in...someone on this thread I think I posted exactly how it would look..

Must run right now, as soon as I get back from town I'll come looking to see if all is ok with you...

Got mine today! It had been opened, but everything was there except the nail, and I have a nail! I also got a birthday package from Linda Kay, and IT had been opened! What's up with the PO?! Thanks, LK! I'll post a pic later!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Glad you got it Audrey..santa face in one piece? as for the nail, suggest it be 4" long and headless..lol

Didn't realize you get mail on Saturdays...we don't...

Betty, my DH informed me that I am an 'impatient' patient after that last trip to ER ! LOL!

But I can be patient for the package....cuase I havent been well enough to even make my robes yet! grr! Maybe this weekend.

I ordered two kits...one for me and one for mom. but moms is a surprise.... well, mom and I went to Joannes this week and I was telling her about the santas that I'm making... and picked out some crushed velvet to make two more (for the smaller santas) telling her maybe sis would like blue...oh and the other sis might like a purple... (she thinks I'm only making 2 santas) she never said anything....but the look on her face well, you could tell she was kinda disappointed I didnt ask what color robe she wants on her santa! teehee!

She'll find out soon enough that she's getting one of the bigger santas :o) I'm sending it back home with her when she goes :oD just gotta be a teeny bit mean first ! ^o^~~~~>

Victoria Harbour, ON

So cute..I'm sure they'll all love them..the smaller ones really don't have to be much smaller, by the time beard and hair is on the piece not much different..

Tired of cutting out santa outfits..today I've 54 done..material for more but too tired..tomorrow I start sewing..lucky them get their outfits sewn..but, alternative is to bring my goodmachine out and let everyone use it NOT!!! so I'm being mean as well...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Not mean dear, just prudent!!

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

or errr...smart?! teehee!

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Okay, so when I finish the sewing, do I have the robe piece, the sleeves (not attached to anything) and the hood (not attached to anything) or have I missed some directions somewhere? Still not completely sure if I have done the sleeves right. I sewed the 10" pieces together, so I think that is right.

Also, we can add trim around the bottom of the robe and the top of the hood, right? I think if we are gathering the sleeves at the wrist, it will make it too bulky, right?

Victoria Harbour, ON

Nope, you've done what you need for the project... you will need to gather the bottom of the sleeves as well..you'll see why later today..between trying to sew the robes I'll try to do a few more steps so you all know the process...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Sew the short ends together on the robe, and the sleeves, then the gathering is in the top of the robe, for the neck. I don't think we gather the sleeves do we Betty? Once we all get our packages, Betty will be back online will full details! (I hope)??? LOL I know she will.
Turn your clocks back one hour!!!
LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning Betty, your up early?
Sleep well? How are your earaches doing? Hope they are doing better.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

I'm so excited! I just can't hide it! (Singing like crazy!) Do we gather both ends of the sleeves?

Victoria Harbour, ON

I would, makes it easier when we glue gun to the hands...the upper part will be glued to the nail/dowel...I'm trying to get back here...almost have the pond put to bed, the gazebo screen roof is now ready to be boxed, just came in to get my screwdrivers, want to take down that beautiful sunflower metal art on the antique frame as not to let it rot in the snow..then was down the muskoka (adirondak) chairs/stool and table and store and by then it will be time to come back inside..yuk about 1/4" of ice on the pond waters..as its emptying it's breaking..had wanted to put up christmas lights and trees outside but...have to wait until next weekend unless that son of mine drops in...hockey/hockey/hockey....hmmmm

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Woooooweeeeeeeeee!!
I got my kits!! Even the bald Santas followed me!! Lolol!!
Thank you so much kind and gracious Betty! Your generosity to your friends and family, I know the Lord will bless you back thousands fold!

Please don't overdo it. Wait till you get help....Stay warm!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Betty, did I read you get no mail delivery on Saturdays? I have never heard that before. So everything waits till Monday?

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Yes, I think I have everything.

Betty, don't be silly - #1 you are not 'an old lady', and #2 you have gone above and beyond to bring a bunch of adult women a lot of joy and excitement in learning something fun and new.
